From @hightimesmagazine It is with great sadness that we announce that Charlotte Figi, the namesake and inspiration behind the acclaimed CBD strain Charlotte’s Web, passed away yesterday at age 13. 😔 ━━━━━━ Charlotte and her twin sister Chase were born on October 18, 2006 in Colorado. Charlotte had a seizure when she was three years old and was subsequently diagnosed with the rare and life-threatening seizure disorder known as #DravetSyndrome. She was prescribed a variety of pharmaceuticals, but nothing seemed to work. 🚫💊 Her seizures were constant and long-lasting. She was placed in hospice at age five. Charlotte’s mother, Paige, refused to take her daughter’s diagnosis lying down. She researched her disorder, related disorders, and eventually found a Brazilian study about epilepsy and cannabidiol. In 2011, she embarked on a journey to get ahold of a supply of CBD and track down growers who cultivated it. At this point in time, CBD was rarely discussed, even in the cannabis space. But the stars aligned, and Paige was finally approached by professional cannabis grower Joel Stanley. They worked together to create a high-CBD, low-THC strain—when Paige administered the resulting oil, Charlotte went from having 300 seizures a week to a few episodes a month. It was a dramatic improvement that no one had anticipated. Paige became an advocate for not only her own daughter, but for other children suffering from intractable epilepsy. Charlotte, in addition to finding relief from her seizures, became the poster child of CBD and was featured in pro-cannabis documentaries and in our own Female 50 issue of High Times this past November. Charlotte’s passing is devastating to all who knew her and to all who found hope and inspiration though her. Moriah Barnhart is committed to changing state and federal cannabis laws. Moriah’s daughter, Dahlia, was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer at the age of two. Moriah had already been advocating for many years against the drugging of children and for increased parental rights in the care of American children. While fighting for Dahlia’s life, Moriah quickly found herself personally immersed in the fight against bad laws as well. When I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian/peritoneal cancer in November of 2014 and underwent an 8 hour extensive surgery that included a complete hysterectomy, two bowel resections and hours of de-bulking, along with blood transfusions, 3 days in the ICU, I visualized my body healing itself. I knew all I needed were the proper tools to help my body do exactly that.

The foundation of my healing protocol is an FDA registered class one medical device from German engineering, called the BEMER which I am thrilled to pay forward because I knew from my in-depth research that it would enhance my bodies general blood flow down to the tiniest capillaries in my circulatory system, as well as enhance my bodies nutrient & oxygen supply, waste disposal, cardiac function, fitness, endurance, strength, and sleep management. (See my YouTube Channel for some interesting video’s to help you understand the science and technology of this exciting device.

I knew all too well I needed good nutrition and as a Ph.D in nutrition I had those tools at my finger tips.

The products above are the ones I use for dietary anti-inflammation include the Omega 3 marine lipid, MOXXOR and for natural Vitamin C, include Longevity C (Beauty) along with the entire Simply Young whole food line of organic and nonGMO products.

But, I needed help with an anti-nausea protocol as I went thru 6 rounds of 10 hour chemo days and I needed help with the related side effects of chemo. I had 5 days of IV fluids after each round and some meds to take for pain and nausea but I felt they presented side effects so I wanted to do my best to minimize my use of prescription drugs.

My very progressive surgeon had the tumor tissue from my surgery stored at http://www.storemytumor.com so that after I finished chemo and would hopefully be in remission, I would then be able to go to Grand Cayman Island and do Immunotherapy at http://www.perseuspci.com/ And I did do exactly that and am currently part of an FDA clinical trial at Perseus in Grand Cayman where this protocol is approved.

The images below are a collage of my trips to Perseus for my immunotherapy cancer vaccines. Doctors orders after each treatment are to go to the 7 mile beach and relax. No side effects just side benefits occur here as opposed to the debilitation one experiences with chemo.

I began researching medical marijuana while doing chemo thanks to one of my Chemo nurses who suggested, confidentially that I look into CBD and THC oils. I did this but quickly became overwhelmed and confused by the on-line information and nothing resonated for me as it lacked the professionalism and quality control assurances that I needed to move forward.

By chance I picked up a brochure on CannaKids when I obtained my medical marijuana license at a local facility called Cannamed.
