In the midst of the battle between the New Mutants and Freedom Force, the ice that Dani was trapped in thaws out, and possessed by Hela, Dani breaks loose and starts going crazy again. As the New Mutants (sans Rusty and Skids who got left on Ellis Island) retreat to X-Factor’s ship for help, Ship mysteriously shoots off into space, abandoning our heroes (I suppose we’ll see what that is all about when we get back to X-Factor). Then Dr. Strange teleports the New Mutants to Asgard to deal with the issue, sending them helpfully on their way but also completely abandoning them to fix the problem on their own, because they’re smart kids and Hela going crazy is an Asgard problem, not an Earth problem. Or, if Dr. Strange was Ben Shapiro, he’d be saying “that’d be a ‘you’ problem”.

New Mutants Workout:

We are going to be looking at what it will take to be part of the New Mutants team so get ready to haul heavy iron just like Magik’s sword, explosive jump like Cannonball, leap like wolfsbane and power up like Sunspot.


So let’s get to it.

Warm up for all workouts:

Warm up 20 minutes of either jogging, rowing, cycling or skip rope.

Magik’s Workout:

We are going to be starting off with Magik so be prepared to lift heavy and train hard to get yourself in fighting shape, I’ve put this workout together keeping in mind swinging a heavy sword and wearing partial armour.


Workout 1&3

One arm clean and press *

Kettlebell swings 3x20

Dumbbell bench press 4x8-10

Dumbbell one arm row 3x8

Dumbbell front raises 3x6-8

Dumbbell lunges 3-4x20

Jump squats 3x10-15

Planks 3x1 minute


Workout 2&4

Sandbag carry 4x2 laps

Pull-ups*

Push-ups 40reps add 5-10reps each week

Deadlifts*

Lat raises 3x6-8

Reverse flyes 3x6-8

Hanging leg raises 3x12

* Week 1: 4x5reps Week 2: 5x3 reps add weight

Keep repeating this pattern and adding weight.


Workout 5:

Circuit 2x10

Push-ups

Knee highs

Sit-ups

Lunges

Pike push-ups

Demon bear crawl


Demon bear 5 point bar press 3xamrap


New Mutants combat training:

Shadow boxing 10 minutes

Punch bag 10 minutes


Two rounds of

10 jabs

10 crosses

10 kicks

10 knees

10 duck and weaves

Cannonball workout:

We are going to be looking at some explosive power and heavy lifts to give you that Cannonball power and physique to match💪


Workout: 3-4 days a week

Explosive sqauts 4x15

Box jumps 3x10

Bent over rows 4x8 go heavy

Bench press 5x5 go heavy

Military press 4x5 go heavy

Bar curls 3x6

Bar Tri ex 3x8

Ab crunches 3x20

Reverse sit-ups 3x20

Planks 3x1 minute


Workout 4 or 5:

Circuit 2x10

Push-ups

Pull-ups

Lat raises

Reverse flyes

Lunges

Twist sit-ups

Demon bear crawl


Demon bear 5 point bar press 3xamrap


New Mutants combat training:

Shadow boxing 10 minutes

Punch bag 10 minutes

10 jabs

Wolfsbane workout:

So we are going to be looking at what it takes to be just like Wolfsbane, in this workout we will utilise different jump exercises to build that pouncing power and some good heavy lifts to give you that werewolf strength 💪


Workout 1-3

Jump lunges 2x20

Box jumps 2x20

Bar bench press 4x10

Lat pulldowns 4x8

Dumbbell shoulder press 3x8

Dumbbell curls 4x6

Dumbbell two handed extension 4x8

Ab crunches 3x20


Workout 2-4

Bar sqauts 3x20

Incline dumbbell bench press 4x6 go heavy

One arm rows 4x8 go heavy

Military press 3x8 go heavy

Bar curls 3x8

Tri pushdown 3x10

Reverse crunches 3x20


Workout 5

Standing long jump

For this workout we are going to be doing some crazy power circuits to feel like we’re powering up just like Sunspot💪


Workout 1:

Power circuit 5x5


Squats

Bar bench press

Military press

Pull-ups (weighted)


Bar curls 4x6

Bar Tri extension 4x8

Hanging leg raises 2x20


Workout 2:

Power circuit 5x5

Deadlifts

Bent over bar rows

Bar shrugs


Incline dumbbell press 3x10

Dumbbell clean and press 3x10

Planks 2x1 minute


Workout 3:

Power circuit 5x5

Front squat

Bench press

Lat pulldowns


Lat raises 3x8

Dumbbell curls 3x8

Tri pushdowns 3x10

Reverse sit-ups 2x20


Workouts 1,2,3 can also be used 4 days a week and keep alternating between 1,2,3,1 and 2,3,1,2.

First off, now that Illyana has reverted to the child she was before she got trapped in Limbo and assaulted by demons for 8 years, the New Mutants drop her back at her parents’ house in Russia like they were spending the afternoon at Chucky Cheese so she can resume the innocent childhood she was enjoying before Colossus got her mixed up in all kinds of X-Men bullshit. I guess we’ll just leave her here for a few years until she contracts the legacy virus. In the meantime, Dani succumbs to a mystical virus of her own as a result of her being a normal earthling imbued with the powers of an Asgardian Valkyrie or something like that. Dani Moonstar’s been feeling a little sick to her stomach for about 30 issues now, ever since she got mystical Valkyrie powers when she was in Asgard. But there’s been so much shit going on since then with mutants falling and getting massacred and demons infernoing all over the place that we all forgot about it. Welp, this is what happens when you ignore a sore throat so long that you become the goddess of Hel. This is basically how Jim Henson died. (New Mutants #77 – July 1989)

Namorita (Namorita Prentiss) helps to break the trapdoor open for Cannonball (Sam Guthrie), Boom Boom (Tabitha Smith), Feral (Maria Callasantos) and Nova (Richard Rider). Though she is successful, she only broke her nail. 

Having long nails don’t mix when you are a superhero with super-strength….

Hey here’s an idea. How about you DON’T let the New Mutants watch the fucking baby. I mean, unless you want it to get SHOT. Seriously, what have they ever done to earn any responsibility? When Magneto was their caretaker, they couldn’t stay in their rooms for 5 god damned minutes without sneaking off to a mutant animal reserve and as a result they killed Doug Ramsey. He gave them like a million chances and they kept disobeying him, and it turned him into a motherfucking super villain again!! Jesus these New Mutants. (X-Factor #41 – Jun 1989)
