in captain america: civil war, bucky and steve are having some quality boyfriend bonding time on their jet. to help jog bucky’s good memories of him, steve cites an instance from their childhood where they “had to ride back from rockaway beach in the back of a freezer truck.“ steve then says:

now, this sounds perfectly ordinary, until you realize that this took place not only during the early twentieth century, when three dollars was worth significantly more, but also presumably during the great depression.

let’s say this happened in 1935 (steve and bucky would both be eighteen). in 1935, $3.00 was worth approximately $56. that alone should be a “holy shit, the russo brothers didn’t do their research” moment. it gets worse.

in 1935, the average household income was around $1,368 (~$25k in 2020). probably less for steve and bucky, since they are both canonically poor (steve more so than bucky, but it makes sense for bucky too).

but if we’re assuming that bucky’s family brought in the average annual income for the time, that puts bucky’s family’s monthly income at $114; $3 is ~2% of $114. that’s actually quite a big chunk of their money.

so either bucky is really bad at saving money, or the russo brothers are idiots. favor the latter.

saw a post about civil war and got me thinking about the tonyxsteve thing and who was right and who was wrong-- and yeah i am team cap through and through, i agree with him and all, and think tony rather shot his own foot with peter,

like, 

tony was right in that they couldn’t be a team with no reigns, with no accountability, but i think tony came from the wrong place and tried to do this reasonable thing in the wrong ways. and this is why he failed; why he was alone at the end.

he came from the wrong place because he was projecting his own issues into the team as a whole. bear with me because i only watched cw once, but what happened was that he was comfronted by the mother of a boy who died when wanda collapsed a building in the beginning of the film, and then had all these talks about accountability and the fact that the team was dangerous

but those were always things that tony struggled and struggles with. anger and guilt and the fact that hes always doing things wrong-- either because he had been a shitty person in the past, a past which he cannot change now, or because he tries to do good and fails (like with ultron); tony is someone who feels he’s wrong and damaged and underserving, and most of all someone who needs to be kept in check least he do something wrong again.

this is what he projects into the team.

also that he shot his own foot with peter-- its painfully obvious how much peter agrees with steve. everything the boy says is a parroting of steves beliefs: that you have a power, you have a responsability; that all he wants to do is stand up for the little guy, a term that is steves. in this, tony puts a CHILD IN DANGER (gasp, the very thing that made him start this in the beginning of the movie) and its obvious that if peter knew all the facts, it wouldn’t be tony hed be fighting for; thus tony manipulates a child into fighting in a fight he has no place in, for something he’d be against if he knew everything.

again, tony tries to do good and fails, nearly in every single way.

(also, steve is completely right mostly because getting the avengers to be a pitbull a leash being held by the un is stupid and reckless and useless; all of them have just seen the fall of shield, which if for nothing else, served to show how much you cannot trust other people with other interests to tell you what to do and when. this is a situation that theyve just escaped, which tony is trying to put them under again.)

This isn’t my first Tumblr, but I’m trying to do a new thing here: getting to know more people.

I am really bad at this in RL and I refuse to let that continue online as well.

This could get longer, so’ll put the rest under a cut 

Now, it’s not that I don’t have any friends, but the few I have are exactly that, very few, and recently they mostly appear in pairs :D I don’t begrudge them their relationship, but only meeting happy couples as a single get’s tiring as well, maybe someone knows what I mean, here.

And I want people to talk with again more, and fangirl about one of the many things I like! Which is hard to find with 28, I have to say. Sometimes it feels like I am the oldes Fangirl in history! (Which I assume isn’t true?)

Anyway, Tumblr seems to be like THE place to look for fangirls or boys?

Anyone out here to talk Marvel? Love Tony, among other. Hawaii Five-0? Suits (Am only in the third season so far v.v)? White collar? Lord of the Rings? Harry Potter? Brooklyn Nine Nine? Starsky&Hutch? Dukes of Hazzard? MASH? Star Trek? NCIS (Don’t know the whole show though). Hm, what else.. older Animes/Manga (I have to admit, I am really not up to date with the stories young ones read and watch nowadays in that category :D) I love the old stuff though. Like, uhm, Dragonball! loved that, or One Piece or Kenshin, Digimon, Beyblade or even Sailor Moon, yes, liked that too, it’s a classic.

Yeah ok, there is so more I like I swear, but total blackout right now.

I’m also become a shipper,something I would have never expected of me, but I know that’s not everybody’s thing, of course. so not talking about that is fine, too.

Ship though, there is McDanno, or Stony (even though Cap:CW threw a muddy blanked over my ship right now, I still like them very much (In story’s and stuff that don’t even mention Civil War :D)) I would also admit that I ship Tony with pretty much everyone Ok, well, not everyone, but a lot of people :D

Besides shipping, I don’t know why, but I lover brotherly relationships and also very much father/son.

There are of course also other topics to talk about, beside shows, movies and books, but well, that topic brought me here, so I don’t know right now what else to suggest :D But I’m open to talk about other stuff, of course :)

Oh, and I’m from Germany, so don’t look at my text to closely or the mistakes might kill you. Come talk to me in Englisch or German :) Other languages are also an option, but we’ll have to live with google translator, then :D

unpopular opinions, civil war edition: i rewatched cw recently (because quarantine), and i hate to restart the debate but look. steve was right— the accords were unnecessary and wouldn’t solve anything— but he handled it completely wrong. tony understood the accords couldn’t be fought openly. steve did not, and this put both him and bucky in danger. i wish steve had thought about his actions because i know his voice could’ve turned it all around. (the accords could’ve been amended. bucky could have gotten a trial like he does in the comics, he could have been cleared. instead he’s thought of as more of a threat.) to sum up: steve did the wrong things with the right motive.

Civil War Trailer

The Disneyland Experience YouTube channel have apparently recorded the civil war trailer and have said they will be uploading it soon (they’ve recorded all the Star Wars stuff too so I think this is legit) and to avoid it being removed they only have it on for a short amount of time then delete it, re upload it and repeat, I suggest you all subscribe and get notifications so you don’t miss it when/if it’s uploaded!
