Hello! Can you please give some information about a defiant patient? For example if a patient has refused to eat, refuses and IV, refuses, refuses, yet needs help without exception, what can/does a hospital do?
So.
There are a couple scenarios your character might fit into.
Scenario 1: if your character is an adult and has the mental capacity and legal competency to make their own decisions, they are allowed to refuse whatever they want.
If the patient is refusing everything, the nurse and then the doctor will talk with them and explain the risks if they continue to refuse. They may be offered alternatives or a second opinion, and they have the right to ask for one. If the patient continues to refuse, they may be offered the option to leave against medical advice. If they refuse this, but continue to refuse all care, they may be discharged against their will.
Scenario 2: if your character does not have the legal competency (say, a minor or someone who is severely intellectually disabled and has a guardian), they can be forced into care.
In this situation, someone else (a parent or guardian) has made the decision for the person to receive care, and the hospital staff are carrying out those wishes. Hopefully the patient goes along with it, but if they don't, it is ultimately up to the decision maker, and the patient can be forced to receive that care.
Scenario 3: If your character has legal competency (they are an adult and make their own decisions in day-to-day life), but, say, they lack capacity temporarily (for example, they have taken a substance that impairs their ability to make decisions, or they are unconscious or severely confused due to an illness or injury), consent is typically implied (i.e. the understanding is that if this person were in their right mind, they would want a medical professional to figure out what was wrong with them and treat them). In this case, they may be forced into care.
An example of this is a head injury, in which many people are combative and may refuse care. However, the refusals are due to the disease process, and a doctor can assess whether they have intact decision-making or not. If they determine that the person's decision-making capacity is not intact, they can force them into care. If the person's decision making is still intact, forcing them into care could constitute assault, battery, or false imprisonment, depending on what was done (see scenario 1).

The different types of Seekers in my AU (The Polar Star)
Hey, so first, hello, yes I know it's been a while since I posted anything, but I already explained the reason. I am getting back on track little by little, and I also inform here that I have not given up on the requests, I just took a necessary break because of my anxieties. I don't know yet when they will come back, but I assure you it won't be for too long. Anyway, I digress.
Today I want to talk about the different Seekers that exist in my AU: The Polar Star. First of all, what you need to know is that for me Seekers are not a specific species or class of jets. You don't born Seeker, you become one, after passing an extremely selective exam.
Well, in fact there are two exams, each very different. Like I said, I'm going to talk about the different Seekers. In my AU, there are two main classes: Scientific Seeker and Military Seeker.
These are different tests for each, which do not require the same abilities. On the other hand, this does not mean that we do not expect military Seekers to be intelligent, quite the contrary. You must have a fairly high level of strategic ability to be able to pass certain tests. I won't dwell on the tests today, I will probably talk about them in another post.
Military and Scientific Seekers are therefore, as I said previously, two different classes. The military will be assigned to the defense of Vos, as well as to war if necessary, while the scientists are the explorers of new territories, and those who provide weapons to the military.
The scientific Seekers of Vos are also those who study energon in the most depth, as well as a means to make it more accessible, and to limit famines. Many scientific Seekers work at the Trypticon Station, which is the great center of all energons. Synthetic Energon is also there, but encrypted by the Senate, making it inaccessible, even to scientists.
Starscream originally intended to become a scientific Seeker after Skyfire's disappearance, but a terrible set of circumstances prevented him from doing so, ultimately pushing him to become a soldier against his will.
Then, you should know that in these two classes, there are three categories: Functionality Seeker; Capacity Seeker; Energon Seeker.
Brief definition of what a Functionality and a Capacity is in my AU:
“A Functionality is a unique composition of the body, which is not found in any other robot of they generation. Like Capacity, but Capacity is a power that comes directly from the Spark, while Functionality is an additional or enhanced organ. It could be a radar, a weapon, an engine, etc."
Some Capacity or Functionality are more wanted than others, we can give the example of Skywarp's teleportation Capacity which is truly unique, being the only one to date to have this Capacity. This is also the reason why he was taken as a Seeker, despite his very limited intellect (which is also caused by his Capacity).
Note that Functionality and Capacity are often in the military context, unless the power is more useful at the scientific level. All have some degree of rarity. For the last category: Energon Seeker, it's about a Functionality that allows you to find energon. It is very special and above all very rare, which means that it has its own class.
A Scientific Seeker with an Energon Functionality is very wanted because Energon is really their area of expertise. The Military Seeker who has this type of Functionality will sometimes be assigned to find sources of energon so that they can be exploited by the Miners later.
There are differents Functionalities capable of detecting energon. One of the five senses can be enhanced, very often sight or smell, even camouflaged energon will give off a unique glow or smell. Some Energon Seekers can also detect it while walking, through the vibrations of the ground. For others, their Functionality makes them sensitive to surrounding variations, basically like the sensation of hot and cold, a new sensation is added the energon one.
The rarest is the energon radar, allowing a much wider perception, it's like a second sight. To give an example of what it is capable of doing, know that Starscream has an energon radar. He can spot a source of energon at a very great distance, and assess its depth. He does not need to have his eyes open to find his way in space, if there is enough source of energon around him, less useful on Earth, but terribly effective on Cybertron. This is also the case for those who spot energon with something other than sight.
An Energon Seeker can also recognize someone based on their energon signal, which is unique to each person, making it impossible for a shapeshifter like Makeshift to ever fool them. They can also sense the activity of a robot, if they are awake or asleep for example, if they are sick or on the contrary in great shape. This can be very useful during a fight. They can also spot hidden enemies, even an invisible robot will have trouble get an Energon Seeker by surprise.
So, it was a little presentation of the different Seekers in my AU ^^ I repeat myself but it is not a species, in fact any flyer can become a Seeker. Jets are the ones that succeed the best, because certain tests require abilities that only them possess, such as very good eyesight, or superior strength. But Starscream is proof that even for a robot less strong than required, it's not impossible.
