KRBAY/HNK Head Canons (Tripple Deluxe Adaption)
Remember in The Jambastion Cult head canons I said that the 3 Mage Sisters tricked Escaroon into making Dedede become evil? Well other members of The Jambastion Cult (who were rivals to Zan Partizanne, Flamberge, & Francisca) copied Zan, Flam, & Fran's idea to trick a royal monarch into becoming evil by selling an item (a chair for Dedede & a mirror for Sectonia) to said royal monarch's servant/love interest (Escargoon & Taranza) so they could give them the perfect gift for their birthday.
Speaking of Sectonia being like Dedede, in the story arc adaption of Tripple Deluxe Dedede gets a tase of his own medicine because Sectonia is like an evil queen version of him. When Taranza & Sectonia's bug army kidnapped him (along with Escargoon, Sir Ebrum, Lady Like, Marx, & Waddle Doo & some of the Waddle Dees thinking that Dedede was the hero of DreamLand), Dedede then became a DEDEDamsel in distress. When Dedede first heard that they thought he was the hero of Dreamland, he was impressed... at first but then he meets Sectonia who treated him like a toy, doing stuff like making wear complicated ball outfits that he's uncomfortable wearing, or even making him skip certain meals because she wants him to be thinner. (Look at her bee form's waist and you'll see what I mean) She even insulting Tripple D's chubbiness. This made Tripple D try to escape on a few occasions. When Dedede tried escaping from Queen Sectonia's palace, he met some Faries (People of The Sky) that were captured by Sectonia's guards. The Faries told him that she did terrible stuff to them like not allowing them to build a new hospital because she wanted a museum dedicated to herself or putting her own people in prison if they disagreed to her own rulership. But of course, Taranza & the guards would always find The King and take him back to the palace. (This made Dedede realize how terrible of a person he's been)
3. When Dedede was still being captured by Sectonia, Taranza mostly watched over him so he wouldn't try to escape again. But instead Taranza & Dedede ended up having some sort of friendship together. With ill' O'Ranzy being more well-mannered, nicer, & optimistic than Sectonia they slowly got to bond over stories that Taranza told Dedede. BTW Taranza is obsessed with fairytales & folklore. (Also, later in the show Tripple D tries to be a good friend to Taranza but I can't tell examples because I don't want to spoil what I have in store)
4. Taranza has a French accent & in the dub is voiced by no other than Charles Martinet. Meanwhile in the dub Queen Sectonia is voiced by Sammatha Kelly. WHY? Because I wanted Taranza & Sectonia to feel like villainous counterparts to Mario & Princess Peach, because instead of the Princess/Queen getting kidnaped by an Evil King, the Princess/Queen is kidnapping the Evil King instead. Now that I think about it the Cappies are mushroom people just like the Toads as well. So should Kirby & pals at one point in the story think that they rescued Dedede but then a cappy said "SORRY GUYS! BUT YOUR KING IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE?
5. After the advents of the Tripple Deluxe arc, Taranza is Banned from Floralia for being the one that turned The Queen into an evil dictator. (Even though it wasn't really his fault) After hearing about this news Dedede hires Ranzy to work for him & live in his castle back in Dreamland. (Basically Dedede, Escargoon, & Taranza became a trio of sorts.)
6. Taranza has a Squidward & Spongebob and Peppermint Patty & Marcy type relationship with Goonie. (Goonie being Squidward or Peppermint Patty & Taranza being Spongebob or Marcy)
7. Also after the arc Dedede went through a CHARACTER ARC and stopped being mean to the Kirby, Tiff, Tuff, The Cappies etc., and started to become a better person & ruler.

Robots 2005 Review
Blue Sky Studios, while it’d later be defined as the production company behind many famous films such as Ice Age Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and Ice Age: Collision Course (I jest) back in 2005, the studio was still getting its footing as an animated film producer. Following the success of the original Ice Age (2002), its next work Robots, released in 2005 set as the title implies in a world of robots. But how well does it hold up? With its eighteenth anniversary having just passed us earlier this month, here are my thoughts and opinions on it.
Tumblr media
The first thing that comes to mind when discussing Robots is their art style, think something like Toy Story or Meet the Robinsons. Its visuals pop out in a way that’s helped age the movie in more ways than one. From its character to city design almost everything about the movie sells this world, think of the film's Rupert Goldberg machines or the design of the ever-intimidating chop shop. That said, don’t stare too hard at background characters cause you’ll likely notice a few repeating designs (Ex; Bigwelds Corporation), and like most early 3d don’t look at the liquid cause it’ll look metallic. Aside from more background stuff though, gotta appreciate the main cast's design and how they all look rather distinct from one another. For example, Cappy is the most futuristic looking as opposed to Fender looking older/rustier by design. Madame Gasket and Bigweld are probably my favorite design-wise of the movie with both of them being very striking in how their design correlates to their personalities. And that’s ignoring the visual treats here and there from the referential posters to the high school graduation pictures and quotes. The occasional action sequences the film has are also pretty fluid, really helping to up the ante in a couple of scenes. All and all, this is the standout highlight of the film and if you like the look of the posters and trailers you’ll probably love the look of the film.
The story of Robots is unfortunately, nothing that striking, a young Rodney Copperbottom is trying to make it big in Robot City when his idol Bigweld goes missing. Will he be able to figure out what's going on, and stop Ratchet and Madame Gasket from taking over Robot City? It’s a simplistic make it big in the city story, and while it’s at least somewhat uplifted by its comedy, voice talent, and art style. At the end of the day, it’s a very forgettable plot, with the occasional strong point such as the introduction of the Chop Shop and Madame Gasket. This is a comedic film first and foremost and while I’ll focus on that more in the next section, it does undercut more of the narrative-focused serious moments. Robots had the workings to be more memorable since I didn’t dislike what they were going for, but whether the result of the movie being so short or having to introduce so much in a narrow window it’s just not the greatest. Speaking of run time, this movie could’ve easily run for another thirty minutes to an hour than it ended up having. While it could’ve been budget or production reasons, part of me does wish we got more from the story.
Then we have the comedy, which, it’s honestly surprising how much they get away with, from the movie's frequent adult jokes, toilet humor, darker humor, and its off-the-walls absurdism. Some of it landed but most of it didn’t for me, and from what I can glean from the trailers and some of the behind the scene stuff, the movie was aimed towards tweens and teenagers. I can see why the movie was able to be more daring in its comedy. In a world that in the past few years had seen stuff like Shrek or South Park become global phenomenon's. As I mentioned a bit ago, the humor can be kind of at odds with the film’s narrative, hijacking it at times. And I think that’s best shown via the character of Fender. Fender throughout the film has many moments where he’s intentionally or unintentionally being used as a comedic device. And while I enjoyed Robin Williams' performance, it’s way too focused for a comedic character. Fender is very Looney toons esc in his non-stop energy, and aside from one scene comforting Rodney he is always bouncing off the walls. So much so that the main villains don’t get anywhere near the same amount of focused screen time as him. Fender in my eyes is the worst of the comedic hijacking, and if he had been scaled back a bit I think he would’ve worked a lot better as a character. Take, for instance, Diesel and Wonderbot their comedic bits are more occasional and toned back and usually work better within the scene. Again, not to say I didn’t enjoy Fender as a character. My favorite jokes of the film usually involved Fender doing something absurd (the fight dance scene, Rodney and Fender dancing, etc), because once you go beyond him, a lot, and I mean a lot of the humor is crude. Take a side character like Aunt Fanny for instance, the second you see her the second you know the recurring joke with her. To each, their own though, the movie gave me the occasional laugh but I didn’t find it all that noteworthy in its comedy.
Now onto our main characters, and their vocal talents, characters such as Aunt Fanny and Diesel will be left out since I feel like the comedy section covers them well enough. This’ll mostly just be my impressions after having watched the film twice so if I don’t point out a vocal talent in the blurb assume they did alright in my book.
Herb Copperbottom - performed by Stanley Tucci, Herb was a really fun character and I think Tucci nailed his general enthusiasm during the opening scenes and later when he was more solemn. His overwhelming support of Rodney and his dreams are super uplifting, but beyond that, there isn’t much to him.
Rodney Copperbottom - Played by Ewan McGregor, the main character of our film Rodney is one of the blander parts in it. Partially because he has to be built up as this hero leading the charge against Madame Gasket. Partially because of the scriptwriting, I think McGregor’s performance here is alright but I was left wanting more from his delivery. I’ll touch on Rodney’s dynamic with other characters in their own sections but by and large, excluding Herb and Bigweld his relationships with the remainder of the cast are serviceable but weak.
Bigweld - Played by Mel Brooks, I One hundred percent expected Rodney and Cappy to find him near death/dead in his workshop on my initial viewing. Ends up kind of overriding the other side characters given he’s able to solve the problem by firing Ratchet. He’s a standout character that gives a sort of Walt Disney aura coming off as bigger than life, that said after being knocked out by Ratchet he becomes more of a plot device than someone actively contributing with the villains and Rodney fighting to save/kill him. Can't not shout out Mel Brooks because he's great here.
Ratchet - Played by Greg Kinnear, the best character in the movie hands down. Greg Kinnear’s over-the-top performance of a capitalist nut obsessed exclusively with profits is great. From his sleazy nature to his dimwittedness in charming Cappy. His relationship with Madame Gachet is something of a strong point. There isn’t much I disliked about this scumbag of a character only wish he had more scenes.
Cappy - Played by Halle Berry, advertised as Rodney’s love interest, as a character she’s barely present. It feels like they wanted to do more with her and Rodney but besides a few action sequences and her bailing Rodney out she just has so little.
Fender - Played by Robin Williams, this’ll be brief since the comedy section covers how I feel about Fender for the most part but he’s the strongest of the supporting cast due to him having the most time with Rodney. Their relationship is very quick to go from Fender mugging Rodney to friends, and I can’t deny Robin William's strong vocal talent.
Lug and Crank - Performed by Harland Williams and Drew Carey. Sorry to say, both Crank and especially Lug are relegated to background characters. Cranks' cynical view of the world could’ve been used to juxtapose Rodney’s optimism but as it stands his most memorable scene is a one-off joke. Lug, on the other hand, is irrelevant, and scenes with him in the frame, let alone talking, probably total somewhere under ten minutes of the entire film. Directors seemed to have more plans for them both initially but it seems that got scrapped at some point.
Piper - Played by Amanda Bynes, she’s in a similar situation to Lug and Crank, she’s just narratively present as Fender's younger sister who’s attracted to Rodney. Hardly anything comes of this beyond a few jokes between her and Fender, but she also gathers the army for the final fight. From the advertising, you’d have expected her to have a much bigger role since she’s up there on the poster but nope!
Madame Gadget - Played by Jim Broadbent, I'm gonna be real the design of Madame Gadget feels like something out of an entirely different movie. Their introduction nails them as this super intimidating villain, and they deserved to have more standalone/planning scenes with or without Ratchet. Loved the crazy mom angle they went with her, honestly didn’t expect her to get the blast furnace in the end.
Alright, that’s probably the most anyone has written on Robots in quite a bit, I’ve heard this sentiment echoed online but after having seen the film I do feel this had the potential to have a more lasting impact than it did. While most of what I saw on the behind-the-scenes, development stuff was on Youtube if there's anything I missed, comment! Or however Tumblr works, I’m still getting used to this stuff.
It’s been a minute and figured I’d write a short piece while I write more long-form stuff, and this was free on Youtube at the time of writing. Until next time, don’t question what is and isn’t a robot in this universe lol.

“Ah fuck, that’s good,” you muttered as you leaned against the kitchen counter, munching some cereal. You had popped into the kitchen after smoking a little bit in honor of 4/20, and weed had a special way of making you want to eat everything.
“Mm mm mm life is great,” you hummed, swaying as you contemplated what to eat next. You were so grateful that Tony kept the kitchen stocked, and that the rest of the Avengers had normal bedtimes, so you could chomp away in private.
It was well after midnight and you were quietly playing some music and munching away. After throwing a lot of shredded cheese over chips and microwaving them, you were stoked for your next snack. Just as you were about to shove a big melty piece into your mouth, you heard someone clear their throat.
Steve emerged from the shadows, watching you amusedly.
Your eyes widened, “Steve? What are you doing wandering the halls like some kind of dorito-shaped ghost?” you whispered.
He let out a laugh as he pulled up a stool and plopped down, looking at you with an adorable smile on his lips. “You smell um, green,” he finally said.
Your eyes met and you nodded at him with a big grin. “It’s a national holiday, grandpa,” you giggled.
His eyebrows raised, “Is it?”
“It should be,” you shrugged, shoving some cheesy chips into your mouth.
“Why are you up so late?” he asked inquisitively.
“Hunger. What about you? I’m not being loud am I?” you furrowed your brows.
Steve shook his head. “No, I only heard you once I left my room.”
“Good good. Hungry?” you slid your plate closer to him. “I need ice cream now.”
Steve couldn’t help but smile as he watched you, glossy-eyed and clumsy, trudging to the fridge for a cold treat.
“NO!” you whined, holding out the pint of Ben & Jerry’s. “It’s sealed…”
“So?”
“That means I need a kniife,” you grumbled.
He held out his big hand, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Just give it to me.”
Padding over to him, you handed him the pint and waited quietly. Quietly for a second, that is. “You’re very helpful… and very handsome,” you slowly booped his nose.
He easily pulled off the seal and opened up the ice cream, handing it to you with a grin.
“Boop,” you tapped his nose again, smiling with a hazy look in your eyes. “Thank ya, Stevie. I didn’t want anyone to see me like this, but if it had to be someone, ‘m glad it’s you.”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m goofy when I'm high!” you whisper-shouted.
“Oh, well I happen to think you’re —.”
“I need a spoon!” you exclaimed.
Steve shook his head, a small smirk on his lips, “You sit down, I’ll get it.”
He was very happy to have woken up and stumbled upon you in your current state. You were adorable when you were sober, but somehow even cuter when you were high. And you called him handsome, you’d never done that before. Usually, he found you a bit more reserved, but he was loving the unfiltered version of you tonight.
“Get two!” you whisper-shouted again, leaning on your elbows as you watched him.
“Okay, honey,” Steve handed you both spoons, and you handed one back to him.
You met his pretty blue gaze, “Let’s do this thing, Cappy,” you sunk your spoon into the frozen dessert, and held it out so that he could get some too.
“Mmm,” you did a little shimmy in your seat, gleefully eating your spoonful with a content smile.
Steve thought you looked so damn cute, he almost couldn't stand it — and much like the pint thawing slowly in your hand, he felt his heart melt just the same.

Summary: Ivy now lives with the Syverson's and to be honest: it isn't all bad.
Captain Syverson x Ivy Sullivan
Wordcount: 1.5k
Warning: None
Masterlist // Oblivious masterlist //
Staying with the Syversons isn’t the biggest punishment in the world. No, on the contrary even, it’s lovely to spend a lot of time with them. While the girls were a blast at my place already, I loved seeing them in their natural habitat.
The girls are darling, but I’ve got to say: Sy is slowly becoming more and more approachable. As the little ones are off to school and Sy has dropped Clover off at Pre-K, he’s back with some coffee for me.
He walks up the porch, where I’m seated, staring at my place. ‘Here,’ he says.
‘Thanks.’ I take the cup from his hands and take a sip of the cappuccino he bought for me. Including the right syrups. He does pay attention, though it always seems like he doesn’t. ‘I really want my place back,’ I note. ‘I loved that place so much. It was the first place I’ve ever owned and lived in myself. I was so proud of how I arranged it and now it’s all gone. It’s a mess.’ I stare at the left off remainders of my place. It’s mostly black because of the fire and smoke. I can recognize a few things from my place, but it’s not much.
Sy sits on another chair next to me, now staring at the mess I used to call home as well. ‘There are some parts left of it.’
‘I know, but it’s not the same.’
‘You had a lot of memories stored there?’
I shake my head. ‘No, I don’t have a lot things from when I was younger. I’m never really sentimental about things, stuff, but… This is kinda sad.’
‘I see.’
I resit on the chair, however it hurts a lot more than I imagined. I groan out loud and Sy is immediately alerted.
‘What’s wrong?’ He gets up from his seat, places his cup on the little table and kneels in front of me. ‘Need me to get a cushion or something?’
‘Cappie, it really annoys me when you are this considerate and darling. Almost makes me want to compliment you.’
He rolls his eyes. ‘Really, the nickname again?’
I smile. ‘Of course. I might have had a heavy beam fall on my back and lost my conscious, but I will never ever forget that nickname. It fits you so well.’
‘It does?’ He pushes himself up again and plops back on the seat. ‘How come you are so incredibly insufferable?’
‘It’s my default state,’ I chuckle. When he doesn’t respond, I feel this weird need to expound. ‘I don’t know, probably just immaturity. I mean, I raised myself, you come up with coping mechanisms. You sure do that too, with you know… The stuff you have seen during the war.’
He nods. ‘I do.’
‘We both are avid people repellers,’ I say. ‘I scare them off with sarcasm, stupid jokes, more sarcasm. You just don’t allow anyone closer to you. By default, I suppose.’
‘Correct,’ he smiles.
‘Why?’
‘Just because,’ he says. ‘Life hasn’t treated me kindly, so I won’t be.’
‘Gosh, how utterly depressing,’ I say. It stays silent between the two of us for awhile and I realize I kinda want to go inside again. ‘Can you help me up?’
He is quick to hold out his hands and gently pulls me up. ‘You okay?’
And then it happens. Tears drip over my cheeks. My hands start to shake in his. Everything comes back so quickly. The fire, the smoke. The second I woke up and was engulfed in flames and smoke.
‘No, no, no, Ivy,’ he says in a soft tone. ‘It’s okay.’
‘I’m scared.’
‘I know you are,’ he says. ‘But you don’t need to anymore. I’m here.’ Sy pulls me in a hug and I close my eyes when I nuzzle my face in his thick chest.
I don’t know how long I’ve been crying, but after a while I just push him aside. ‘I’m sorry,’ I say, before turning around and walking back inside.
☁︎ ☁︎ ☁︎
The next morning Erin and Aurora are off to school again and it’s just me and Clover, because Sy has gone to work. It felt so domestic this morning: preparing breakfast, making sure the girls’ hairs were great and when Sy walked out of the door and I was left with Clover, I realized I was in the life I once wished I was.
A man, a woman and kids, all in a house. Domestic. Textbook family. It was never for me, but to taste it a little bit now, I realized how much I missed it. How I’ve yearned for it.
Clover and I are sitting on the couch and she’s such a darling little girl, able to entertain herself with her barbies, some television and other toys she has. Sometimes she looks over her shoulder, says: ‘Ivy look,’ and then plays on. An adorable sweetheart.
We’re together in the kitchen now, making some cupcakes together, because the little girl has a sweet tooth, just like me.
The door opens and we both look to the side. ‘There you are,’ Sy says. ‘Making cupcakes?’
‘Your vision is marvelous,’ I deadpan. I look at Sy, frowning a little bit when I realize something’s off. ‘What’s with the smile?’
‘Uncle Sy smile,’ Clover says with a bright one on her own face, leaning her head against my shoulder.
‘I’ve got a surprise for you,’ Sy says. He opens the door again and his friends march in, even his pervert friend Jason and the rest of the sleazy gang he works with.
‘Geez, this is what I always wanted. Cappie, I don’t know how to thank you for sweaty greasy men who ogle me without shame.’
Sy tries to hide a smile, but fails miserably. I love seeing him smile like this. He totally should do it again. ‘We’re gonna rebuild your place, Ivy.’
That takes me by surprise. ‘What?’
‘It’s free of charge and we’ll work on it after our own work.’
I roll my eyes. ‘Why?’
‘Because,’ Sy says, ‘I know how much you want your house back.’
It shouldn’t make me this emotional, yet here it does. My eyes are filled with tears and Clover is quick to pull me in a hug. I hear Sy say something to his friends and they all hold up their hand, before quietly disappearing towards the front door. ‘Ivy don’t cry,’ Clover says.
‘It’s happy tears, Clover,’ I say to her. I wrap my arms around her. ‘It’s all good.’
Sy walks back in and joins us in the kitchen. ‘You crying?’
‘Shut up.’
Clover wiggles herself from the counter, stepping off the stool, before she waddles over to Sy, hugging his legs. In the last two days, the youngest two have been awfully clingy to both me and Sy. Witnessing the fire must’ve done something within them and seeing their uncle approachable, must be something they’ve always wanted.
‘Thank you,’ I whisper. ‘Really, Sy. I don’t know how to thank you.’
He shrugs, lifting up the little Clover, balancing her own his hip. ‘No need to, Ivy. It’s my pleasure.’
☁︎ ☁︎ ☁︎
After dinner and the girls are tugged in their beds, Sy helps me in his bed. ‘How did you manage to get your sleazy friends to help me?’ I ask, once I’m on my back and Sy tugged me in.
’They owed me,’ he says. ‘I just want to do something for you.’
‘Why?’
‘A thank you, for everything you’ve done. Including dealing with me.’ He gets up from the back and says: ‘Get some sleep. See you tomorrow.’
He walks out of the room, closes the door behind him and I let out a content sigh. I cannot get his smile out of my head. The way one corner of his mouth gets up a little bit higher. It makes my heart skip a beat faster and—
Oh no, no, no! This is so familiar. Not because I have experienced it, but because I recognize it from the way Erin talks about her crush on this Teddy boy and describes all of it in great detail.
Ew no, does that mean I have a crush? I cannot believe this! It means I am in love with him…
No no no, disgusting. I don’t want to be in love, let alone be in love with sigh. That would only make life more complicated and I do not need complicated right now.
I’m sick to my stomach. Is it because of this, because of feelings?
Great, probably.
I close my eyes, trying my hardest to get it out of my head, but it’s not working. Instead I feel myself falling.
Falling for him.

So this is not your typical love story, where girl meets boy and they fall head over heels for each other, and live happily ever after. The happily ever after might be a possibility in this story, but don't hold your breath. Don't worry yourselves, in this story there will be love since I know how much many of you love a love story, but this kind of love is going to be different from the type of love many of you know of or are used to. This type of love is so complicated...so dark...so intense...so dangerous...and so dirty. Need I say more? Some of you will call this type of love unhealthy, but what type of love do you expect to be formed between two very damaged individuals? I apologize I'm getting carried away. I haven't introduced myself yet! Sigh. Let me not be rude, so my name is Busisiwe. Most people call me Busi for short. I currently live with my mother, who is a single parent, and I don't know who my father is. I will not bore you with the details of what happened between my mother and my father, or the details of why I don't know my fathers...blah blah blah! This story is not about that. I'm 20 years old, a part time waitress at this restaurant called Cappies. I've been a waitress for two years now, and I'm doing my 2nd year in Economics. The reason for me working is because I basically support myself. The bursary that I got only covers for tuition and books. My mother told me when I had reached that age of 18 years that I would have to contribute to rent if I wanted to continue living with her, and also that I had to contribute on groceries. I'm sure this is shocking for some of you. Saying that my relationship with my mother is rocky is an understatement. Since I was young I don't remember my mother being the definition of what a mother is supposed to be to her child. At the age of 7 I was already looking out for myself, practically doing things for myself. My mother would leave me all by myself at home so that she could go out with her friends or go out with whoever she was dating at the time. So at a young age I had to be independent. For a long time I really thought how my mother was treating me was normal until I saw the type of relationships my friends had with their own mothers, then I knew that my mother was neglecting me. I don't know if the reason had to do with my father or what, but as I said that in this story we won't be talking about my father.
I don't know if the relationship that I have with my mother is the result for the many issues that I have, or is it the fact that ever since I was in primary and high school I got picked on a lot by other kids because of my weight. The getting picked on hasn't stopped by the way, but it is not as it was in primary and high school. Now I just get comments from people who think they have a say about how I look like when they don't...people are cruel like that. Or it could be that one of the reasons why I have these issues is because of my absent father. I don't know. But what I know is that I have issues. My mother, my friends and past boyfriends have never failed to remind me of that fact. About the past boyfriends part, well, I wouldn't say they were my boyfriends because they soon ran out of interest towards me when they realized that I wasn't going to be having sex with them. Thing is, I'm not good with relationships. For instance, check out the one I have with my mother...which is rocky...and also check out the one I have with my father...which is non existent. So how can I be able to hold onto a relationship? The other thing is the fact that I'm very insecure about how my body looks...you know because of the weight...so I always second guess myself which makes it hard for me to let the opposite sex to become intimate with me. All of my past boyfriends have ended up referring to me as being the "ice cold bitch". Not a nice name huh? Well that is my life. I literally have two friends since high school and I'm a 20 year old virgin, which my two friends never seem to stop teasing me about. In honest truth I don't see a problem with being a virgin, I mean I've heard about how sex is like from the stories my friends tell me and I've realized that I'm not missing much. When I say that to my friends they tell me that there is something wrong with me...that I have issues. So I guess I do have issues. You guys will have to decide that for yourselves as the story goes on...........

Where there is light, shadows lurk and fear reigns. Yet by the blade of knights, mankind was given hope.
Every so often there comes an episode of Precure that is absolutely iconic. This is one such episode. Milk gets sick and Karen has to joust Hadenya on horseback to protect her, putting her up there with other female action icons like Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley in my book. Let’s explore!
The Plot
Karen is showing off her equestrian skills for her friends, and invites Milk up to have a ride, but when Milk collapses in her arms, Karen realizes she has a fever. They take her inside the mansion to assess her, and Nuts informs them that the only way to cure a resident of the Palmier Kingdom is with a special Pinky known as Cappy, which is not one that they’ve caught yet. Karen opts to stay behind and tend to Milk while the others go out to find the elusive pinky.
Tumblr media
We’re treated to a brief scene in Nightmare where Bunbee is also sick and everyone else dismissively tells him to go home, they won’t miss him anyway. Hadenya volunteers to go fight the Precures and retrieve the Dream Collet this time.
Back at Karen’s residence, Milk is still suffering in bed and Karen flashes back to when she was sick as a child and Jiiya cared for her, so she goes to ask him for advice. He provides her with towels, ice water, and apples and instructs her how to tend to someone. He doesn’t ask many questions but it’s implied he knows more than he’s admitting about Karen’s patient. Karen goes back upstairs to attend to Milk, keeping her temperature regulated and feeding her porridge and apple slices, and she seems to be doing better.
Over in a nearby park, Coco, Nuts, Nozomi, Urara, Rin, and Komachi split into two groups to go look for the pinky. Coco and Nuts separately flash back to all the nice things Milk has done for them since arriving on Earth, and the girls encourage them to stay cheerful in their search, and they soon find Cappy. However, the fairies soon detect an evil presence back at the Mizuno estate...
Tumblr media
After her horse makes a fuss, Karen looks out the window and sees Hadenya strolling across the pasture towards her house! Karen heads outside to confront her, vowing to protect Milk, so the vibrant villainess tosses a Kowaina mask all the way into the stable, where it lands on a saddle, flying out and turning into a demon horse. I include all that information because usually the kowaina sprouts from wherever the possessed object is, so the fact that it came flying out before mutating is unusual. Anyway. Karen transforms into Cure Aqua but Hadenya and her devil steed resist her kicks and thrash her about. Karen tries to stand, resolute on protecting Milk, but she’s visibly weakened and Hadnya knocks her back down, mocking her ability to protect anything. At that moment, the other four girls arrive and transform to face off against her, but even their combined might isn’t enough to overpower the general as she makes a lance out of a nearby signpost. From inside the stable, Karen’s horse Charlie is able to tell his owner is in danger and he breaks out to go help her. Aqua mounts her steed and summons the Aqua Ribbon, turning it into a sword (a feature that is not possible with the toy #falseadvertising). She squares off with Hadenya and they charge at each other, jousting back and forth for a few rounds before Aqua summons all of her strength to knock Hadenya’s lance out of her hand in a crushing blow. She dismounts and performs Aqua Tornado on the Kowaina, with Hadenya admitting that Karen surprised her before she flees.
Tumblr media
Later, in Milk’s room, the girls all surround her bed as Karen explains that she protected her because she loves Milk’s smile. Cappy works his Pinky magic, healing her, and she seems a little confused about the day’s events. Coco and Nuts thank her for all her hard work for them, which makes her smile, then everybody but Karen leaves the room to go have tea. Milk thanks Karen sincerely for looking after her and protecting her, and the episode closes on a still of them embracing.
Tumblr media
The Analysis
Starting in episode 26, and seen again in episode 30, Milk and Karen have been developing a closer bond with each other than what Milk has with any of the other members of the team. Karen is very patient with and supportive of Milk, and having been fairly high-strung herself at one time, she knows how to get through to her and explain things in a way she’ll understand. Now we get to see Karen’s compassion and protectiveness when Milk is at her most vulnerable. She does everything in her power to help, and even when she’s overwhelmed, she just stands right back up and keeps pushing forward and fighting the good fight. Would Karen do this for Coco or Nuts if they were in the same situation? Of course, but because Milk is more vulnerable, it’s more meaningful to their relationship that she does this. And the ending of the episode really shows the closeness of their bond as Milk thanks Karen very personally and sincerely for treating her and protecting her from Nightmare. The music during this scene is a slow violin and piano piece which accentuates the mood. It’s very tender and heartwarming.
Karen’s determination to help Milk is really inspiring, but one aspect I appreciate is that she doesn’t automatically know HOW to help. Instead, she thinks back to a time when she was in a similar situation and turns around to ask her own caretaker for advice. She actively seeks help, which fits her attribute of intelligence, and she works hard to help Milk. She tries her best to tend to the fairy, but we see her mess up a little bit. She cuts her finger when peeling the apple, and when feeding the porridge to Milk, Milk chokes a little bit and coughs it out. No harm is done, but these are both representative of Karen’s novice at this task, as well as her persistence in never giving up. You see this again during the battle with Hadenya. Aqua doesn’t know how she can beat the monster on horseback, but she knows she has to try. She isn’t explicitly able to ask for help, but Charlie comes to her aid anyway, showing her the way forward.
Persistence also applies to the other girls, Coco, and Nuts, who are out looking for Cappy. Everyone is doing this for Milk’s sake, and they know they can’t give up until they find the Pinky and save her, but while we see them searching for a while (It’s mid afternoon when they get to the park, and sunset when they find Cappy and return to the Minazuki estate) the emphasis isn’t on them, this is Karen’s episode. I do like the cutaways where Coco and Nuts are remembering the fun they’ve had with Milk, good times and bad. Coco in particular remembers a time when Milk scolded him for eating too many cream puffs... which actually is going to be topical in a few more episodes, so look forward to that.
I’ve said before that twilight scenes can enhance the drama, and that’s in full effect here. The entire battle sequence takes place at sunset, and the liberal use of secondary colors goes a long way to increase the intensity of the fight.
Tumblr media
The kowaina is a deep purple, the sky is orange, the grass and trees are brown. Even Hadenya’s red and yellow appearance fits in with this, Aqua’s cool blue and cream clothes are the only thing breaking this up, helping to paint the picture that it’s her against the world. When her pure white horse arrives, it’s like a beacon of light, and she becomes Milk’s knight.
The idea of knights on horses protecting fair maidens is actually set up earlier in the episode, when Nozomi sees Karen practicing she daydreams about Coco riding in on a horse to rescue her as a princess.
Tumblr media
However, it is of course Karen who ultimately takes the charge, becoming the knight on horseback, sworn to protect Milk from evildoers. It’s a powerful image and a powerful fight. Using the Aqua Ribbon as a sword is about ten times cooler than what the toy actually does, but Precure has an ongoing policy of no physical weapons, so this is about as good as it gets.
There is one flaw that permeates almost the entire episode, and that is the art style. Awkward facial expressions abound here, mostly involving wide mouths and half-lidded stares or just vacant expressions. Aside from this being mid-30s filler before they start to ramp up the plot in the late 30s and 40s, I have no idea why this is so ugly. The animation director for this episode is Kawano Hiroyuki, an animator at Toei with a long track record, who has been involved with the franchise as an animator, key animator, and animation director since the beginning all the way through to Maho Girls. For this series, he was the animation director on episodes 2, 10, 18, 26, 34, 41, and 49, as well as key animator on all of those episodes as well as 8, 33, and 35. I looked back at a bunch of these I could see a few similar instances of this kind of sloppiness, but his work is generally decent. Maybe they just rushed this episode out. The artwork in this show is usually solid, so maybe that’s why it stands out to me more when it’s bad, but half the episode looking like this sets off alarm bells in my head.
Tumblr media
The last thing I want to touch on is Hadenya. She lost her previous outing, the episode right after the girls demonstrated that they’re exponentially stronger as a team than they are when even one of them is missing. And yet, here she is, kicking Karen’s ass and then the asses of the other four, only to be bested by Karen again in one-on-one combat. It’s effective at showing how strong she is, much more so than her previous appearance, but by the same token it shows just how determined Karen is to protect Milk, as she keeps standing up even after getting beaten into the ground repeatedly. I hope we get more battles with this level of intensity.
In summary, it’s a great episode, a beautiful focus on Karen and Milk’s growing relationship, and it was marred only by some ugly faces.
Next time, Bloody finally enters the scene. Look forward to it!
Pink Precure Catchphrase Count: 0 kettei. Don’t worry, we’ll have some next time!

Page 9, The Right Rythm
-Slow down there Boss, we are just halfway through the evening. Gage snapped the beer from Lucy's hand and took a sip himself. They were sitting at the corner table in Cappy's Cafe while the pack was drinking themselves dead after getting the news about taking Safari park. Keith was almost running around them trying to keep up with delivering the drinks to the thirsty savages and not to slip on blood that he still didn't manage to clean after last fool that tried to push on alpha crap against Mason. Meanwhile Lauren was just happy to squeeze more caps and making sure no one is disturbing the business couple, having her shotgun ready under the bar.
- Hey, cmon i deserve a break after dealing with that rampage zoo crocodiles... she rolled her eyes and sighted deeply.
-Gators, Boss...they are gators. Not crocodiles, jezz. Have a bit of respect since they almost tore us apart. Gage shook a finger in her face and passed the bottle back.  -And, hey that is actually my beer, get your own booze woman. Gage protested but she turned away and gulped down everything that was left.
-You mean that "was" your beer. Ye...sorry, i forgot my "purse" at home. She hiccupped and smiled with one corner of her lips. He scratched the back of his head and looked away trying to stay serious.
It has been a completely crazy turn around in her life, from being lost and lonely, squeezed between what is right and not, almost giving up on herself. Now she is the leader to the people for which rules exist only to not kill each other and in the name of profit. Nisha was damn right about it at least. The rules..they stopped existing at the moment people started dropping bombs on each other officially.
Lucy kissed goodbye her pre-war memories and moral backbone once again in Far Harbor, the night that Nucleus threw away its last radioactive breath in the air. She wasn't saint back then, before the bombs either, having a loving partner, living good, almost luxurious life while working with one of the most crooked figures in the crime society as personal assistant and agent. Once it was all gone within one explosion she missed mostly the warm and calm feeling, landing up in the bed, feeling safe with someone who she trusts and trusts her back. Now, passing each week in Nuka World it feels again like she has that warm spot again but this time it's better because no lies were included, to anyone, not even herself. Crime life was luring her from the very beginning to its bloody and thirsty claws but she wanted to be smart about it, not getting caught guaranteed that wheels and cogs kept moving forward into the direction they wanted, not the one they are told to pick. And justice was always served blindly and flat, rules were rules and no one cared about flipping the coin to the other side or treating each case in its own light. And she never dared to question her pre-war boss who trainer her and shaped into the sharpest tool he could ever have.
Lucy muttered under her nose being lost in her philosophical thoughts and past, staring at the raiders in the background but she snapped out when the cold wet glass touched her shoulder.
-Lets have another round and then head back, taking another park doesn't mean that the job is done for us eh? She took a beer he handed her opening slightly her mouth to say something but nothing came out.
-You okay, Boss? You seemed very interested into the void you've been staring at the last five minutes while i was trying to get us beer without punching anyone on the way. Raider sat back across the table and raised a bottle to give it a gentle hit with hers before taking a long sip.
-Gage...what made you the person you are now? I would like to hear your part of the past since we seem to be stuck together a while now.
-How i became a foul mouthed one eyed son of a bitch? He pushed his chair closer and crossed his both hands on the table. -Ye...well, fair enough but that will cost us yet another beer.
Lucy managed to scrape few more caps from the pocket and pushed them towards him. - I'm all ears then.
- I grew up in a typical settlement like many out there, being an ordinary kid but i realized fast that my parents were just a couple of pushovers, cowards, same as the rest of dem folks...no one there would stand up for himself and as a kid i couldn't understand why. Was pretty much rebellious from the start, rules were not to my liking too much...so one day i see them kneeling down again because of some stupid fuck with a gun and i just realized i won't end up like them, not like this. Gage poped a cigarette from the pack and light it up while continuing his story on how he was also lost, looking for a place that would make his guts feel right while trying to get by day by day doing various jobs and assisting in caravans.
-They always took what they wanted and were on their way, no talking, no deals, just pure will to do what you want, take what you want to survive. Those were the only rules that made sense and stick to my head back then so when i met a gang again i joined up and worked my way up, all the way here. The only reason i ain't dead yet tho is that i knew how to put a barrier between doing what ya want and losing control. He popped open a lighter and put a fire under a cigarette that Lucy gently placed between her lips.
-What about you, Boss? We all know your famous story of being the living human ice cube but...what was before exactly, that gal like you wants to nest with a bunch of dirty bastards like us even after war, hm? He scanned her smooth face ignoring the scar across her eye as he saw enough of them in his life and smashed the cigarette in the ashtray.
-Well, back then being the one against the rules would put you very fast out of the game, in jail or worse and i didn't want that to happen. Seeing the world out of system and its underground opened my eyes too. I thought that becoming a lawyer i would be de one serving the right justice but i realized my hands were always tied by someone above...the system so i...took the other path and did what i think was right. Secretly turned to a crime part of life, saw all of it. Fell deeper and deeper and became liking it, living it, maybe a bit too much at times. And now this world...? No laws, no jail, everyone with his own life and gun, it just feels...right, for me at least. I don't have to lie anymore to anyone.  She puffed a cloud of smoke into Gage's face and finished her beer.
As the time passed half of the raiders were dead drunk lying down all over the cafe. Gage and Lucy decided its a good moment to leave so they stood up from the table and walked over the drunks while heading to the exit.
They strolled back to Fizztop in silence, side by side, she knew her right hand man wasn't much of a talker so he had his well deserved break of silence, all the way to the top. It didn't last any longer tho. She turned on the radio and took her metal chest piece down, throwing it to the side.
- I have a gift for you...but i will want something in return. She kneeled next to bed pulling something round and white from under it, hiding it in her arms as she approached him at the couch.
-What kind of gift it is then that ya want something back for it eh? Gage was sitting on the couch like a true raider, with his arms crossed and legs spread awaiting for the reveal of surprise.
-Well, we are raiders after all huh, nothin ain't free like that? Anyway...i noticed you seem to be fond of certain...creatures while they were trying to eat us alive and i stumbled upon this in the pool in the reptile house. Gage relaxed his arms slowly and stood up with a surprised look in his eyes as she reveled her gift. It was...shiny and round, barely damaged.
-Boss...is it... a goddamnfucking  gator egg? I...ayee.. dunno wut to say, shit. Will it actually...you know, pop out at some point? He asked and took it gently with his both hands running the fingers across the smooth shell and then putting it carefully on the pillow at the couch. - It might actually. Would be a decent addition once Mason or you train it properly. She nodded at him, her arms crossed this time, tapping a finger against her upper arm awaiting to hear the magic words that for Gage felt almost like grinding a sand paper against his tongue.
-Fuck...thank you, Boss. I will try not to break it i swear. There it was, finally. He smiled at her but this time it was a truly honest smile, the one that very few had occasion to see.
-Now my part of the deal big guy, dance with me. Gage smile turned fast into a half opened mouthed expression.
-Pardon...wut? Dance? Hell no. He shook his head and watched her snatching two shots of whiskey and coming back right at him.
-Cmoooon, this will help to loose that tension both in your legs and your head, and we are alone. Cmoon Gage, just one dance, i wouldn't trust anyone else with it after all those years... Her words, the trust, felt honest and warm in his ears.
-Shit...fine. But just that one time, Boss. I'm embarrassing myself here. He sighted and took down a shot in one gulp. They threw the empty shots away, the glass shattering into small pieces on the floor. He untied his rusty gold armor and threw it to the side letting it slide away.
-Let me show ya, and no back stabbing okay? Lucy joked and gently took his right hand and placed it on her back while putting her left hand right under back of his shoulder. Then she raised her right hand and ordered him to do the same.
-Stabbing...with this kind of dancing they were almost asking for it.
He tried not to look directly in her amber shiny eyes reflecting the night lights of Grillie's bar but it was proving difficult with so little free space left between them. As she started to guide him slowly after few stiff steps he finally gave in and relaxed. Did he felt embarrassed swinging around like that? Yeah. But deal is a deal and after so much effort and blood and bullets put together into taking the Nuka World he could let himself be embarrassed like that for a few minutes in exchange. Beside both of them could finally admit that they trust each other at this point, a bit at least.

It’s a Super Mario Odyssey masterpost!
Tumblr media
Sorry to take a break from the Halloween goodness, but it’s the one year anniversary of Super Mario Odyssey! Hard to believe it’s been a whole year, isn’t it? There’s no denying this game is absolutely, how do we put this, “perfect” for a lack of even better compliments, with some vast, detailed worlds, many small fun challenges, and of course, lots of cool new Weird Mario Enemies!
...But today, we aren’t going to talk about enemies at all, because what this game also has is some fantastic Weird Mario Friends! To put things simple, there’s a lot of kingdoms in the game, and most of them have their own NPCs that we all love as dearly as the many friends and foes and spooky tree aliens we’ve featured on this blogs in months past, so sit back, as all three WME mods talk about the wonderful new NPCs we see in this game!
Talking about Bonneters, Tostarenans, and Steam Gardeners is Mod Chikako!
Talking about Lochladies, Shiverians, and Moon Rabbits is Mod F Boy!
And talking about New Donkers, Bubblainians, and Volbonans is Mod Hooligon!
With that out of the way, let’s-a go!
Tumblr media
Name: Bonneter
Mario’s grand adventure starts off on an EXTREMELY strong foot when he regains consciousness in a land populated by... g-g-g-g-GHOSTS! The precious Bonneters live in the delightfully spooky Cap Kingdom, where there is rarely a color present besides white, gray, or black, and the whole land is enveloped in a thick fog. To top it all off, the music is simply perfect for a spooky, yet friendly town of ghosts! Also, they all have British accents.
Tumblr media
Of course, there is one Bonneter who stands out from the rest, and that is Cappy, Mario’s newest friend! He embodies the ability of the Bonneters to take the form of normal hats and Capture other beings. Yeah, it’s basically possessing people. It’s okay. It’s fun.
What do you think is under their hat? Is it part of their body, or are they stylish? They don’t LOOK very natural, but Cappy has a few tufts of hair on his hat/head, so the answer is... I don’t know!
Also, there is no spooky-themed area in this game. The only ghosts in the entire game are your friends! Score one for ghosts!
Tumblr media
Name: Tostarenan
Here they are... the first ever new characters we saw in Super Mario Odyssey! Remember that Switch trailer way back when? Where we saw like three seconds of Odyssey? Those three wonderful seconds? I do!
Tostarenans are, of course, based on calaveras, the decorative skulls used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead. They live in a cozy little town just as colorful as they are, and love nothing more than having fun and eating frozen- I mean, freezy treats!
Tumblr media
As I’ve touched upon in their own post, Tostarenans have their own undead version, the Chincho! Which means... these are living skeletons! How does this work? They’re the same shape, so do they have exoskeletons? Again! I don’t know! But wow, that’s two sorta-spooky friend species already, huh? Like we said! This game is perfect!
Tumblr media
Name: Lochlady
Lochladies are the world-famous fashion designers found in the Lake Kingdom... a Kingdom whose industry relies entirely on fashion! Peach/Mario’s very pretty wedding dress was made here. According to the brochure, they’re known for their flexibility but also their strength, and that’s kinda funny... they might look dainty, but these fish are strong!
A fish? A mermaid? They’re really a bit of both. Of course mermaids are their main inspiration, but these things very clearly have scales, right? It’s nice that even the very-human designs in Mario are still a little bit silly.
Though, I suppose the term “mermaid” wouldn’t really apply to them, since mer comes from the Latin for “sea”... instead, they’re named Lochladies... a loch, of course, being a Scottish word for a lake... Like Loch Ness! And Dorrie, the incredibly-Loch-Ness-Monster-inspired friend, even shows up here. If you ignore the fact that Lake Lamode is a French name, it all works out.
Tumblr media
Name: Steam Gardener
That’s no watering can! Just kidding, it is. But it’s also a robot! And most importantly, it’s a friend! Really just a wonderful combination of things to be.
Steam Gardeners live in the Steam Gardens! They’re steam-powered! They garden! And they are very good at it. They come in different magnitudes of rustiness, but don’t worry! It seems they can very well go on forever as long as they stay charged. Their heads can be empty, but can also contain flowers or even seeds that they can dispense!
Tumblr media
I really love the Steam Gardeners because they don’t really look like a character at all, you know? They look robotic, sure, but there’s not really much of a face or anything. And if you ask me, that makes them even more fun! The flashing lights seem to act as a face, if anything, since that’s what they point toward you while speaking. Oh yeah, they’re even asymmetrical! They’re really just a mishmosh of things that most people wouldn’t consider “cute”, but guess what! I think it’s precious! Sue me! (I would probably win because this isn’t a valid reason to sue someone!)
Tumblr media
Name: New Donker
When the first trailer for Super Mario Odyssey came out, one thing that immediately caught everyone’s attention was the New Donkers! Usually, when humans appear in the Mario series, they are very heavily stylized, like ol’ Mario Mario himself! But these humans are hardly stylized at all, looking like your average businessperson you’d pull off the streets of New York in the 1950s!
Tumblr media
Seeing Mario interacting with these much less stylized people is as jarring as it is hilarious, with lots of people questioning how this sort of image could be from a real Mario game. This is exactly the kind of off-the-wall wackiness we all appreciate over here!
...Of course, then there’s the question of if the New Donkers are technically human. We know Mario is human! We’ve gotten numerous statements from Nintendo that confirm it, aside from one old advertisement which listed him as “homo nintendonus.” What we really should be talking about is the New Donkers! We have no official source considering them humans, as they are exclusively referred to as “New Donkers” in-game. One statement from Nintendo says the reason Mario looks so different from the New Donkers is because “there’s lots of different kinds of people in the world,” but when the definition of “people” also includes dancing skeletons and garden robots, I think that it can be considered a pretty broad term.
Of course, even then, New Donkers and humans are obviously two very genetically-similar species capable of cross-breeding. How else do we explain Pauline?
Tumblr media
Name: Shiverian
I love many many things in this big blue Earth of ours, but chubby seals are definitely way up there. So, these guys? Absolutely... wonderful. I love them. I love their dopey voices, I love their cute widdle faces. I love their cosy little town, and I love that they hold competitions where they literally roll around a racetrack, because they’re just that round and fat!!
Shiverians are one of the few NPCs you can capture, too! When in Fat Seal form, you can compete in their Bound Bowl races... Humans aren’t allowed to participate, but the brochure makes it clear that only a fat seal man could survive such a race.
Tumblr media
And above all, I love their funky elder. Look at those shades. He’s a cool old man. He’s not like your grandpa- he’s hip!
Tumblr media
Name: Bubblainian
I think one thing we can all appreciate here at Weird Mario Enemies Dot Geocities Dot Io is gastropods, no matter what shape or form they take. In Super Mario Odyssey, they take the form of giant French snails with flesh-lips, but better off to be a snail with weird flesh-lips than not be a snail at all, am I right gamers?
I’m glad that they picked snails as their “easy-going beach populace,” (though snails are a good choice for anything, really) but what stands out most about Bubblainians to me isn’t the Bubblainians themselves, but rather, one very particular run-down I had with one during my playthrough of the game!
Bubblainians hide in their shells whenever an enemy gets too close, a small detail I really love. However, one time when I was playing, I was wearing the chef outfit, and was running up to talk to one of these guys when without warning, it hid in its shell! I assume a nearby Gushen might’ve just gotten a little too close, but I just thought it was silly because these French snails were afraid of a chef!
You know, because escargot is a dish in France that’s made from snails and...
Well, it was funny to me at least.
Tumblr media
Name: Volbonan
My absolute favorite world in Super Mario Odyssey has to be... New Donk City. I feel that that’s most peoples’ favorite. My immediate second choice, however, is Mount Volbono, and I just love its inhabitants to death. Before I die, you’ll see me laying down, on my deathbed saying “man, I sure love the Volbonans from Super Mario Odyssey” and then I’ll be dead.
But why do I love Volbonans so much? Well, I guess it’s just that I’ve always sort of had an affinity for inanimate object creatures (anyone who’s met me knows how much I love Vanilluxe) and Volbonans are just a perfect design for a fork character! I tried a few shots at designing fork characters in the past, but I made the dire mistake of putting the face on the part with the tines, rather than the handle, a mistake which the Volbonans so excellently fix! Really, I never considered using the tines as limbs, it’s a design that works so well that I’d be cursing myself if the Volbonans weren’t so inherently blessed in and of themselves.
Throw on the chef hats and neckerchiefs, and they go from perfect to extremely perfect, having a design befitting of their hobby of cooking! It feels weird that an entire species has a life focused on cooking, but I suppose that if you’re a giant fork in a land of giant food, there’s nothing better you can do. One of the souvenirs you can buy from Mount Volbono is a set of forks based on the Volbonans themselves! Cute! A little freaky, but still cute!
I think it goes without saying that I want the Volbonans, alongside every other Odyssey NPC, to be playable in the next Mario Kart. Let me race around the whole Mario world as a giant fork or 1950′s (ambiguously) human man!

Name: Moon Rabbit
I am summoned once again from the depths of my cave to talk about Japanese folklore, because I enjoy doing that! The Dark Side stage, unlocked after you beat the game, is also known as “Rabbit Ridge”, and features food-shaped rocks and a whole lotta bunnies... Why? You may or may not have already heard of the story of the moon rabbit (it’s pretty well-known), but in case you haven’t:
Tumblr media
According to our friends in the east, the markings of the moon kind of resemble a rabbit pounding mochi with a mortar and pestle. And yeah, I can totally see it. Of course, Mario Odyssey very prominently features hats, and it prominently features the moon in nearly every Kingdom.... and rabbits, naturally, are pulled out of hats! It works on so many levels!
Tumblr media
The regular Moon Rabbits aren’t all that talkative, but of course, there are some fairly notable rabbits, too! Yup, the Broodals are from the Dark Side of the moon... which might even be why they look like UFOs when they fly around in their hats. I won’t talk too much about them here, but you’ve gotta wonder... why are they so much more anthropomorphic than their fellow Moon Rabbits? Is this a Goofy/Pluto scenario?

My Captain
Today I spent the day watching the euro cup games with my brother. I did get some reading done during the games and I’m sticking to the fluffy romance novel for now. I spent it with my dogs and dried them off after my mom gave them each a well needed bath. A bit of a birthday pampering for Zoe, but I think my mom needed that time with them too. Later on I went out to the pool. I missed Captain every minute of it. I kept just remembering him in all his favorite spots.
We have a recliner in the living room and I couldn’t get myself to extend the foot rest because before this any time I did that Cap would jump up on it before it was even fully extended. That was his place to sit and then he would lean on my legs and depending on what I was doing expect belly rubs. He loved a belly rub.
After I drank a bai with lunch I couldn’t do anything with the empty bottle because usually I would seal it up really tight and Cap would take it and knock it around the room until he settled down to uncap it. I was picking up all the recycling once and I put a bag full of bottles down and he went into it and stole one. Mojo also plays with bottles, but I just couldn’t let him have that one. It’s still sitting on my coffee table.
Any time I was out in the pool and he was out in the yard he would jump up on a chair and make himself comfortable on my towel because he was nothing if not a dog that liked comfort.
My mom was the one present when he died and I didn’t ask for the details when they told me. I couldn’t. Not with how upset she was and because I didn’t want to know if it was worse than what my mind had already made up. But she told me today and the biggest comfort is knowing it was fast. He was in pain, but it was fast. A complete stranger came to my mom’s aid and helped her pick him up and wrap him in a towel. It was the driver’s fault completely because fine, Cap did get out of his way but for some reason he turned back and dude should have waited until he was sure that Cap was back out of the street entirely before driving. And it was fatal. There was nothing that could be done.
He would have been five years old today. I was there for his birth which happened on June 28, 2016 sometime after 10pm. He was born second after his sister Zoe, a middle child, since his sister Mocha came next. He (and the girls) was a wiggly little thing that could fit in the palm of my hand. I was there for all his moments of growth -- when he opened his eyes for the first time, when he started to wiggle and crawl around, how he would cry and cry (along with the others) because Penny didn’t like to sleep in their box, how he figured out how to get out of the box and the one day he got lost under my mom’s bed and fell asleep, and what it was like to watch him stumble onto his feet and how playful he became after that.
When he wasn’t even a year old he learned that if he picked up a tennis ball and dropped it down the stairs he would have to chase it and he did it over and over and over. He was a dog surrounded by a doggie family who always knew what it was like to have his sister (his sister Mocha was adopted by my best friend...we were only supposed to keep one pup from the litter but I wanted him even when my parents wanted Zoe and my brother just didn’t care) and his parents around and who had myself, my parents, and my brother for petting and playing and comfort when he was scared. He was never alone and I hope that he felt that and knew how cherished and loved he was.
There are over 500 pictures and video of him from the very first moment of his life on my phone and looking back it reminds me that he had such an amazing life. He was loved every moment of it. I’ll forever miss how much he loved chasing tennis balls, or how he knew to give his paw before a treat or food, or how he would sit next to his water plate when he was thirsty, or how back at my old house he would wake me up every morning by getting on my bed and climbing on my pillow and just staring at me. I’ll miss the way he would roll on his back to dry himself on a towel after a bath, or how he would stretch out his little body when he was tired and lean his back legs up, or how much he loved running around in fresh fallen snow. Cap loved car rides, and he got so excited for walks. He was one of the best parts of the last five years and it should have been longer.
I can’t help but be grateful that on Thursday (my last day off) I spent the whole day in the living room with him in our chair, or that I was the one to bathe him last and we had so much fun when we played outside with the ball and I accidentally got one stuck on the garage roof and he was confused because it never fell. He was the dog that I saw last on the day it happened and he was happily laid out in the patio. Out of all my dogs, he was the biggest (they’re all yorkies so they’re all actually pretty small), the most dog-like, and he made me laugh more times than not. One day he fell right into a potted plant because he overshot his jump onto the couch and he fell directly in the plant. His sister loves fruits, but he would eat them too and he was so confused when I gave him a blueberry once he bit into it. When I did puzzles sometimes he would jump into the chair next to mine and just lean into my side or watch me work. He liked to sleep with his head pillowed on anything and when he laid on the floor, sometimes my feet became his pillows.
I guess I know I’m doing better because I’ve only teared up while writing this instead of just crying my eyes out and sobbing like the past two nights and a lot of my shift at work yesterday (I am so thankful my supervisor and co-workers let me have the easy day that I did not having to deal with customers), but it still hurts. And I guess I just wanted to write down just some of the things that I’ll never forget about him. Writing is the thing I do and it’s the way I deal. He’s in my heart forever. My Cap. My Caparoo. My Cappy.
A few of my favorite pictures of him:

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #190 - Robots (2005)
Tumblr media
Spoilers Below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: Yes.
Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: No.
Format: DVD
1) From the very first scene of the film Robots is able to establish its wonderfully creative world through an incredible sense of visuals and place. You understand from the very first frame that we are in a different world.
Tumblr media
2) There are so many jokes in this film I didn’t understand as a kid.
Mrs. Copperbottom [after Mr. Copperbottom missed the delivery of the baby]: “But that’s okay, MAKING the baby is the fun part.”
[Smooth jazz plays.]
Tumblr media
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
3) See note #2.
Mrs. Copperbottom: “Honey? What’s that extra piece?”
Mr. Copperbottom: Oh. Oh, no, they always put in an extra...[Takes a good look at the piece. Chuckles.] We did want a boy, right?
4) Growing up with young Rodney not only clearly illustrates his hope/optimism/creativity but it also helps get the audience fully invested in his character and driving motivations. When Rodney really starts inventing/getting into inventing - when he finds his passion - you just root for him more. There’s a little bit of Rodney in each of us I think.
5) Stanley Tucci is a treat as Mr. Copperbottom. He is able to fully communicate his love for son Rodney in just a few lines, but you can also tell when something is concerning him. He doesn’t get a lot of time to shine, but through Tucci’s vocals he is one of the most memorable character in the films.
Tumblr media
6) Ewan McGregor as Rodney Copperbottom.
Tumblr media
McGregor is able to translate what we have learned about Rodney up tot his point - his optimism, passion, hope and drive - and amplify it considerably. It’s this character who we journey with throughout the film. His stakes are our stakes and McGregor is able to get the audience on his side. There’s a certain sense of naivety to Rodney’s attitudes in the big city but what’s important is that these never come across as annoying but instead are a nice source of conflict. All in all McGregor is I think an underrated part of an underrated film and I truly enjoy his role here.
7) The scene where Rodney uses Robot City’s public transportation is incredibly imaginative. It’s the thing I love about animation at its strongest: pure imagination.
youtube
8) Robin Williams as Fender
Tumblr media
As Aladdin so iconically proved, Williams’ was made for animation. This film is no different, as his continuous energy and humor MAKE Fender as memorable as he is. A wonderful scene stealer with some great moments of friendship with Rodney, Fender is a lot of fun.
9) Greg Kinear as Ratchet.
Tumblr media
Ratchet is a slick and fun villain made all the better by Kinnear’s cool vocals. You love to hate him as his charisma, style, and fun are reminiscent of Hades from Disney’s Hercules. Like the rest of the movie he’s just a lot of fun.
10) There’s this wonderful sense of old school slapstick and fun which permeates every moment of the film. It might not often support the plot but it’s just so freaking fun you don’t care. Almost like an old Chuck Jones cartoon, it’s just one great gag after another.
11) There is this incredible sense of place to Madame Gasket’s chop shop. Wickedly evil, as soon as we enter through visuals and even music the filmmakers establish that this is not a place you want to be in.
12) Jim Broadbent as Madame Gasket.
Tumblr media
By completely letting go of any sense of ego Broadbent is able to be wonderfully villainous in this film. A cartoon villain in the best sense, more so than even Ratchet. You have to remind yourself that it’s Broadbent doing the voice regularly because he just embraces Gasket’s villainy so totally.
13) Amanda Bynes as Piper.
Tumblr media
Like Williams and Broadbent, Bynes has an energy to her tailor made for animation. It infects her character and is a perfect fit for the part, making Piper a wonderful treat in the film.
14) So. Man. Butt. Jokes. So. Freaking. Fast.
youtube
15) I’m suck a sucker for found family dynamics, which is why I am so invested in Rodney and the the Outmodes together. There is this nice family dynamic established among the Outmodes very soon after meeting them, but they chose to be with each other. They’re lost, rusty, weird, but they can be that way together. I dig it.
Tumblr media
16) I love this.
Rodney [after venting to Fender]: “If you burden your friends soon you won’t have any left.”
Fender: “What are you, a fortune cookie!? That’s what friends are for!”
17) The scene where Rodney is fixing up all the bots in town is not only wonderfully positive but also filled with that strong sense of humor I mentioned in note #10.
18) This line always stuck with me as a kid, I’m not sure why.
Madame Gasket [to Ratchet]: “Think! Use those brains I stole for you!”
19) The entire gag where Rodney is posing as a count and Bender as his manservant is an excellent example of the film’s energy and humor. There is just this wild sense of fun which can be seen in the scene which defines the whole film.
Tumblr media
20) So when the opening credits started I saw Natasha Lyonne’s name…
Tumblr media
And I thought to myself, “Wait, she’s in this movie?” Well it turns out, she is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
21) Halle Berry as Cappy.
Tumblr media
Cappy isn’t really a developed character, I don’t think. She exists primarily as a moral compass juxtaposition against Ratchet who he lusts after, as a plot device to get Rodney out of trouble, and a shoehorned in love interest which is barely developed. This is not a criticism of Halle Berry’s performance, as I do think she’s good in the part. But what can we really say about Cappy? What can we say about her personality? That she’s…good? That’s about it. She’s a good guy. I could choke this poorly developed female character to sexism in the industry but the film also gave us Piper and Aunt Fanny and Mrs. Copperbottom who are all memorable characters in their own right. I just don’t really see the point for Cappy unfortunately.
22) The moment with the dominoes is brief but another fine example of visual excellence.
youtube
23) Mel Brooks as Bigweld.
Tumblr media
Brooks is a legend of the film industry both in front and behind the camera. As an actor he brings his wonderful sense of enthusiasm to the part, but also plays Bigweld’s jadedness remarkably well. You can tell how hurt he is in just a few words, but when he decides to pick himself up by the bootstraps and continue on Brooks is even more fun in the part.
24) I love this. You really understand just how much Mr. Copperbottom loves Rodney in just a few words.
Rodney [talking to his dad on the phone]: “I’m really sorry I let you down.”
Mr. Copperbottom: “No no no no no. You could NEVER let me down, son.”
25) Rodney’s ride on Bigweld continues the excellence in imagination and visuals the film has shown through a gripping set piece. With a wonderful sense of creativity and madcap fun throughout, the scene even lands a few surprises your way which make it all the more enjoyable.
26) The upgraded team is actually something which I think is really freaking cool. I just dig the visuals of it.
Tumblr media
27) …what just happened?
youtube
29) I’m a sucker for bringing a twist to a trope, so the way this scene handles “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” is great.
Bigweld [when their friends are in trouble]: “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” … [Rodney grabs Bigweld and cuts loose a support their on, acting as a giant pendulum to take out the bad guys.]
Bigweld: “THIS ISN’T WHAT I WAS THINKING AT ALL!”
30) This ending is a little cheesy but I dig it. It’s really fun, with a nice energy and good heart to it.
Crank [after Rodney’s dad starts playing music]: “Well, there goes our happing ending.”
Fender: “No! It’s a fusion of Jazz and Funk. It’s called JUNK!”
Robots is an underrated animated gym filled with a nice heart and an insane sense of humor. It’s voice acting and visual design are standout elements and al in all the film is just incredibly fun. Go watch it if you haven’t.

Psalm 37 - Do Not Fret!
1/22/21
During my quiet time with the Lord this morning I was “stuck” in Psalms 37.  Although the concept of how God treats the evil doers verses the righteous is understood on a very cursory level for us as Christians, and is especially helpful for where we are in this country at this time, I couldn’t move away from it.  As I pressed in, I felt a very keen sense of comfort in these verses (emphasis added):
 3Trust in the Lord
, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart
34 Wait on the Lord, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the    wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.
I feel as though the Lord wants us to know “it’s going to be ok,” and that is always the case, and not even a surprise to us that believe.  OF COURSE this is true!  And even though these truths are “self-evident” as believers, I feel like the PEACE we need in this time is conditional on our trust in Him, our patience, and our delighting ourselves in Him – ON PURPOSE.  There is a REST available to us in this time, but if we hardened our hearts, as did the Israelites after the Red Sea crossing, then we are in the sin of unbelief.  As it says in Hebrews 3:12-14:
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,
There are many things I can say about this thought alone, but I want to get to what I believe the heart of the matter is for us in this season, and what the Lord showed me today.  There is a recurrent command the Lord gives us this chapter that jumped off the page as I pressed in:
1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.
I think most believers know that the thing the Lord tells us the most in scripture, over and over again, is “Do Not Fear.” When something seems out of our control and “unknown,” our default is to have fear or anxiety, and the Lover of our soul wants us to be at rest and in Peace – in the shadow of His wings.  But, in this chapter, when looking at the fates of the wicked and the righteous, there is another command:  “Do Not Fret.”  I want to emphasize that I believe this is a command – something that we can achieve, if we choose to.  But this word does not mean “worry,” or “wring the hands” as I thought - it is the word chârâh (khaw-raw') in Hebrew (Strongs H2734) and it means to be angry or to “blaze up” with anger.  And the Lord tells us not to “fret” 3 times in this chapter, because He means it!  And, in verse 8 he even says that to do so “only causes harm.”
Is there anyone today that feels ANGRY because of what has happened in this election? Is there anyone that feels wronged, and maybe even desperate or hopeless - and gets angry when thinking about it?  Well, I believe the Lord is telling us to STOP IT! Being angry over the actions of someone else does not help you, or the situation.  It only causes you harm, and here is the best news:  there is a way to avoid the harm that would befall us if we succumb to anger because of evildoers!
Look again at verses 3, 4, 34 & 40.
3
Trust in the
Lord
, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
I believe the Lord is reminding us how to walk in this season more times than He warns us of how not to walk!  3 times He tells us not to be angry, but 4 times He tells us how to accomplish this!  Trust Him.  Delight in Him.  Wait on Him!  We can’t control how someone treats us, or has cheated us out of our vote (if you feel this way) – but we can control how we REACT to this!  We MUST praise the Lord, for He is GOOD – His mercies endure forever!  We Trust in Him in all our ways and lean not on our own understanding, and HE will make our paths straight!  Our salvation is not in our hands.  As it says in verse 34 of this chapter:
34 Wait on the Lord, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
God’s got this!  He’s told us this repeatedly, but we have a roll to play, too!  Don’t be in unbelief of His word.  Don’t be angry by things like what we are going through now – as if somehow we see something that God does not.  Our Salvation is in Him.  We cannot control what is happening – but “we know a Guy!” (said like an Italian guy from New York, right?).  God loves us very much, and is NOT happy about the way His children are being treated. HE will take care of this – so honor Him by believing that He will deliver us – and DO NOT FRET!

With love,

Lucy Feit - headcannons and overall presentation,
Lucy Feit - current occupation: Overboss of Nuka World and Gage’s “business” partner.
Pre-war: court defender - then gang member and personal agent/tool under the firm hand of her past boss and criminal figure - Harrison.
Tumblr media
Appearance:  Fairly small gal (5'3'' - 160cm)  with slim/agile body type at her 27th’s - still quite young. Pale skin but after wandering through wasteland a bit more rosy. Medium length bright blond straight hair, longer in the back, choppy looking since the wastelands best hairdresser is a knife or an old pair of scissors. Tends to tie her hair into two braids as well. Dark amber eyes covered with thick layer of black carbon powder all around to sharpen the softness of her face. Scar under her right eye caused by the knife she carries and got after a hassle with commonwealth raider. Three tattoos - an ace skull on the right upper side of her forehead, white waster skull next to her left eye and a dagger on the left side of her neck. Small thin nose, downward turned lips, her face expression most of the time bored or doubtful but as she starts drinking or having some fun it turns into a grin. She has a burn marks on top of her hands and softer ones at the palms, hidden most of the time under her gloves as she is ashamed of them.
Character: Pretty calm but inpatient, snarky, sarcastic and careless most of the time. Tends to be impulsive and acts first before thinking of consequences which annoys Gage quite often. She isn’t the brilliant smart mind but is very intelligent due to her pre-war occupation (being smart vs intelligent are two different things). Compulsive liar and charmer, embed in her mind from pre-war but she is aware of that and tries to control it, using it as a way to get around some situations instead as a habit. Not a leader type but when shit needs to be done she will step up. Got stirred into believing she is psychopathic and sometimes acts as. Likes to drink and stir some fun around as alone and with no occupation on job she gets too bored. Does stupid shit and gets in troubles if left alone for too long. Highly depends on Gage’s directives and advices or other leaders if he is gone. Prefers not to talk about feelings and fears openly, would rather go with “just do it” approach.
Fighting/combat: Mostly melee weapons -  very skilled with her medium sized disciples styled knife. Knows some basic hand to hand fighting/night bar style with a lot of dirty tricks. Sneaky, fast, silent and agile unless she wants some noise and action. High stamina but for short encounters, cheetah style. Uses grenades for bigger trouble, either as a distraction or to cause more mayhem. Will use a pistol only if there is no other way. Occasionally will take the broadsider if shit gets really serious and dangerous as a special card. Surprisingly strong if put under stress and pumped with adrenaline. High pain threshold but easy to break on mental level. Mixes light base gear with some heavier pieces on top to still be on a move but not to get broken like a stick in direct confrontation.
Factions: Joined raiders and took a position of the Overboss as their nature and goals fit her own. Doesn’t want to be a hero nor a part of anything bigger than a pure survival and getting what she wants. She hates the military style of BoS and their “yes sir” soldiering style around. Before becoming Overboss she worked as a mercenary for the Institute along with Kellogg (Father is not her son in my story and she didn’t kill Kellogg). She doesn’t believe in pure goodness and justice and thinks that every faction will get eventually corrupted and egoistic. Later on strikes a deal with Institute in Nuka World to provide data and plant their devices on the top in exchange for technology and supplies for her gangs. Believes it is a good deal as they stay underground while she operates on the top and the Institute doesn’t care if they kill people or do other shit. Just keeps an eye to not replace any of her people with synths.
Other informations:
-  Addicted to calmex as she was dozed secretly with it before the bombs, would use it in stressful situations or when her traumas are flashing back, Gage tries to help her stop taking it. Also likes drinking especially at the end of the day.
-When under effects of calmex and in strong doubt or hesitation the Harrison, shady posture of her pre-war boss might show up and talk to her or haunt her, before disappearing shortly. This might be a result of constant high stress and long drug usage causing some kind of brain damage before. This problem gets resolved as her pre-war boss comes back to life later on.
- Because she worked often as an agent in a night luxury club in pre-war she likes everything associated with it, dancing (oh she loves to swing around), neon lights, drinks, fancy stuff etc. Likes to spend free time at Parlor or Cappy Cafe.
- Doesn’t feel guilt when killing people during raids but would not kill a helpless animal unless attacked. People have choice and if they choose to be stupid its their problem but animals are driven by pure survival so she wouldn’t butcher them unless necessary. If there were dogs in the raided settlement she would order the pack to take care of them and train.
 - Can drive a car, quite well actually since she was in some risky and dangerous situations before the war. Also constantly tries to get some vehicles working along with Chip Morse and Lizzie but to no success yet. Wants to have better means of transport other than walking and fast way out in case of serious danger.
- As the time between pre-war and current time happened pretty fast and she was used to have a lot of money and expensive stuff in her apartment later on as she was finishing jobs for her boss. She would always try to “ beautify “ and make herself comfortable even in poor or rough conditions. A little spoiled bitch. Even built herself a dressing table at Fizztop straight from the pre-war night club changing room she worked before. She would collect/steal everything shiny and golden as they travel and store it there. Doesn’t like to sleep outside away from Fizztop or any other safe-house.
- Has a leech/bloodworm phobia due to the trauma after being tortured before the war by the corrupted court mobs. Sometimes has a feeling of her wounds in throat still being there even if they are long healed. Hates everything associated with worms and highly dislikes slimey food texture.
- She doesn’t see a problem in having a little hand to hand fight (literally) and getting punched by a man (hell would even join a bar fight at cappy cafe) but heavily dislikes abusive approach during arguing. If Gage or anyone by any chance would act so or grab her by the neck she would panic and smash his head with literally anything that is in her reach just to be released. Result of her boss, Harrison abusive actions towards her to break and confuse her mentally.
- Depends on Gage company and his experience as alone she is not always sure of rightness of her actions towards the plans for Nuka World and after all she was always under someone's thumb and orders as a sharp tool for the job. And as he is around 8 years older than her (i would give him 35 years tbh) and spent his life becoming a raider on the top of the mountain she takes his approach seriously. Eventually slowly falls in love with him as she notices the care he provides towards her no matter the fuckuperies that happen on the way. And the confidence that man has in his actions and looking like he does..definitely turns her on as time passes. Gage doesn’t believe at start that someone like her would be interested in him more than on just a job level but doesn’t mind later on at all to have a gal like her by his side at the lone evening/nights at Fizztop.
- She is not that bad of a person and refuses to trash talk traders (well maybe except Aaron) and convinces the operators after powering the plant to improve their conditions as it would also bring more caps and scare the “tourists” less. And she would not want their only doctor to be gone or worse, refuse to treat them.
- She considers Lizzie a friend and would visit her often to check on new equipment or further improvements with grenades. Doesn’t mind testing her new inventions along with an extra drink in her lab.
- She is bad at cooking, especially the post-war one and would most probably choose a food from a box rather than poison Gage with her attempts on making food.
- Almost always wears her black fingerless gloves, might fall asleep in them too sometimes. Gage notices it and learns later on about the burn marks.
- Has a weird, almost romantic like relationship with her pre-war boss Harrison after he makes a sudden come back, surviving the bombs and joining her in  Nuka World.
