Riiju-Lei: *walks through the bulwark out of ravenrock* this is? What morrowind is like?
Xelzaz: not exactly serjo, but close. The cities are far more beautiful, I’d love to show you around blacklight some day.
Sero: oh yes, I know all the best places away from the tourist traps~
Riiju-Lei: tourist traps? *stops and pulls up an ash yam to see what it is*
Taliesin: oh yes, when the empire brought their cosmopolitan lifestyle to morrowind, the dunmer took full advantage of them~
Sero: They saw our lives as ‘exotic’ compared to theirs and their want for our ‘authentic’ artefacts to take home and show off to their friends and families became a major boom to our economy. And they’re so very easy to scam, ha!
Lucien: oh yes my aunt still shows off her ‘authentic’ telvanni beetle robes at dinner parties. Well, she did until-
Kaidan: until what?
Lucien: until I pointed out that it was just painted mudcrab chitin and I ‘ruined’ her dinner party. I got in so much trouble for that.
Xelzaz: *cackles* oh yes I’ve seen those! We even buy them as novelties to gift to ‘nobles’ who demand to speak to high ranking house membe- *hits the deck as a fireball suddenly comes flying in his direction*
Kaidan: Whot the f- *grabs Taliesin and yoinks him out of the way holding him tight as another comes flying* you okay?
Taliesin: *grabs his face and kisses him* thank you. *pulls out his dagger and readies his magic* what threw that?! I can’t see anything through this ash!
Riiju-Lei: *squints his eyes and looks ahead to see a redoran guard surrounded by ashen figures* I think it’s the captain!! *draws his sword and runs into the fray, slicing through one of the figures only for it to explode into a pile of dust* Captain are you alri- *coughs as another suddenly pounces on him burning through the fabric of his armour* UGHH!!! *reaches up grabbing it by the face and moving to strike… only for the creature to freeze in his grasp*
Ash spawn: *groans and tenses up, ash flaking from its shape before revealing an almost dunmer like creature beneath it with 3 red lifeless eyes… an ash vampire*
Riiju-Lei: *shakily stares up at it then at the others past it as they approach ready to kill him and the captain* shit-
The ash vampire: *suddenly lurches up off of the dunmer and slashes through the ash spawn ripping the heart stones from their chests to protect its master before turning to attack the captain perceiving anyone who isn’t Riiju as a threat*
Riiju-Lei: NO- *grabs hold of its leg and yanks it down to the ground before grabbing his sword and stabbing it through the chest killing it instantly* UGH!!
The ash vampire: *groans and croaks out a death rattle as it’s body crumbles into powder* lord- dagoth… Ur…
Riiju-Lei: *stumbles to his feet watching as it turns to a pile of ash like the others*
Captain Veleth: *shakily gets to his feet* gods, thank the gods you turned up when you did. I thought I was a goner, I- lad?…
Riiju-Lei: *eyes transfixed on the heart stone left pulsating in the ash* … *reaches down and takes hold of it, holding it up to his face as he feels an oddly familiar energy from it*
Captain Veleth: lad?… *goes to reach for him as team dragonborn catches up to them*
Xelzaz: Serjo Lei, are you alright?
Inigo: *rummages through his bag pulling out a healing potion and handing it to the captain* here my friend.
Captain Veleth: thank you- *takes it and downs it*
Sero: Sera, what happened here?
Captain Veleth: the men and I have come to calling these creatures Ash spawn. Don’t know where they come from, they just emerge from the ash and keep attacking the bulwark. I’d be dead like my man here if it hadn’t of been for your friend but… is he alright?
Taliesin: *gently places a hand to Riiju’s shoulder* Leilei?…
Riiju-Lei: *utterly transfixed by the strange stone, feeling it pulsing like a heartbeat, in tune with his own, like a drum pounding in his head* I’m… so… warm…
Kaidan: maybe we should sit down friend you-
Riiju-Lei: *smiles* in the mountain I’m warm…
Lucien: I think the stone is doing something to him?…
Riiju-Lei: *not even noticing the blood pouring from his forehead as his birthmark begins to split open* in the mountain I wait…
Kaidan: *reaches to take the stone* Riiju snap out of it!
“WAKE. UP.”
Riiju-Lei: *eyes suddenly rolling to the back of his head as his forehead splits open revealing a third eye, visions of a gold mask and a towering figure made of brass flashing in his mind* ughh-…agh… *drops the stone and falls back onto the ground, body convulsing as he suffers a seizure, hearing his blood thumping loudly in his head as his new third eye stares up at the world around him taking in the panicked faces surrounding him*
Inigo: MY FRIEND!
Taliesin: GET HIM ON HIS SIDE QUICKLY!!
Xelzaz: *frantically searching through his bag for a potion or anything that might help* Let’s get him as far away from these rocks as we can!
*a few hours later*
Riiju-Lei: *blearily blinks awake back in the wretching netch, body in agony, and his forehead so very sore* what?… *looks around the room to see everyone seated around him, waiting for him to wake up*
Xelzaz: *pats his hand* and carefully lifts the cloth from his forehead suddenly allowing him to see even more than he did before* Hey?… are you okay?…

Modyn and Geldis at the Netch.
Geldis Sadri: "Captain Veleth! Good to see you again. What can I get you?"
Captain Veleth: "How about a hundred Dunmer armed to the teeth?"
Geldis Sadri: "I'm afraid we're completely out of them at the moment. Sounds like you've had a rough day."
Captain Veleth: "There's no reason to bourdon [sic]you with my troubles. How about I just settle for some mazte and we'll forget I mentioned it."

It's getting there! :) Writing under the cut.
A snippet from chapter 6 of Serious Mistakes (the Skyrim timeline)...or Josh is relying a little too much on potions to get him from point A to plan E.
“Hey! What are you doing?” Teldryn’s attention snapped back to the guard captain’s sudden change in tone. He watched as the outlander flashed the guard captain another overly sweet smile before dropping down into the tunnels, a larger cloud of ash arising from the impact of her landing.
Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! No! Teldryn chewed on his lip. A light metallic taste filled his mouth, mixing with the familiar, disappointing bitterness of ash. He grimaced, he’d never gotten used to that side effect. He wondered if he ever would.
“Get back up here!” Veleth was crouching over the grate, his voice panicked at the sudden deviation from regulation, “I… I can’t fit down there!” Teldryn waited for a moment, watching as the guard captain floundered, a small voice arose from below, though he couldn’t quite catch what was said. Too far away, too much echo. Teldryn moved himself back into the small alcove beside the cell, a small wooden table and a bookshelf sat by the sloping wall, obscured ever so slightly by the darkness. He leaned against the table and waited as Veleth muttered something under his breath, too low for Teldryn to hear but the tone was clear.
He hadn’t expected this either.
He watched as the guard captain stalked out of the cell, right past Teldryn and back towards the door. Conveniently leaving the cell door wide open. Perfect, that saves him fiddling around with the lock. He waited a few extra moments after he heard the door close. What he needed to do now would blow his cover and remove the effects of the invisibility potion he’d just downed. He needed to be absolutely sure he was alone.
He counted to three and exhaled slowly, taking off his helm and placing it on the table beside him. A cold sensation overcame him as the cloaking effects of the invisibility potion nullified. A stupid side effect really. Teldryn thought for a moment. He had one shot at this and he couldn’t afford to mess this up. He ran his modified plan over in his head one last time, staring at a small, dusty vial sitting on the shelf before him. Hang on! Teldryn reached for the vial and rubbed off some of the dust, revealing the pale, blue liquid that the vial contained.
Maybe he should start praying to Lady Luck instead. She seemed to be the only one listening. An interesting turn of events but Teldryn decided he’d embrace it. How often do you find magicka potions lying around Raven Rock after all? By the gods! Did he need this small win! He downed the entire vial; the bitter taste of ash coated his tongue as the pain in his head subsided slightly. It was weak but better than what he’d been working with earlier. Which was absolutely nothing. He summoned a small flame for a moment, felt the energy whirl around his fingertips as he allowed the magicka fuelling the tiny inferno to dissipate. It was more than he felt right asking for. He wouldn’t waste it.
It was time to finish this!

heyyy i wrote more!
very few answers but kaidan kept steren alive (i havent played with kaidan much. i just think he would know how to Not Die of hypothermia unlike some nords who have natural cold resistance)
they are aware that things are getting Weird though. hoping azura has answers. and hopefully next chapter steren will wake up
--
It was a scramble to get the mysterious dunmer back to Raven Rock. Why had he gotten soaking wet in this weather? Why was he dressed so poorly for the climate? Would he even make the trip?
“Strip him down first.” Kaidan instructed. “If he stays in wet clothes he’ll die.” Nerevar was the one who did so. While it might be uncomfortable being stripped by a stranger, it was better than dying. Besides, it hadn’t been the first time he had to to save someone’s life--in war it wasn’t as uncommon as others might think when you threw off armor and clothes to get to someone’s injuries. “And don’t focus on his limbs or rub the skin. You’ll send him into shock or injure him.”
After he was out of his wet clothes, Kaidan piled up various furs and cloaks on him, while Vivienne stood awkwardly to the side, though he was impressed with his husband taking charge and saving the day.
“Someone should hold him close while we carry him back.” Nerevar was going to volunteer when Voryn, who had been oddly quiet the whole mess, stepped forward and took him.
“Luckily we aren’t too far.” Voryn remarked as he began walking with a serious expression on his face, a clear indication of worry. Nerevar didn’t see him making that exact face very often--usually it was when something was wrong with Nerevar, and very rarely if Vivienne was upset.
Nerevar had also thought, once they handed him off to a healer, that would be about it. They quickly got to work fussing over him and Nerevar tossed them some coin in case the boy (and Nerevar could tell he was still fairly young, only punctuated by the fact the delirious young man was calling for his father) didn’t wake up for some time. They could talk to the captain, describe him, and figure out who his family was, before being on their way.
However, as if the situation couldn’t get any stranger, Captain Veleth didn’t seem to know who they were talking about after they tracked him down.
“I apologize, Hortator,” Veleth looked apologetic, “But I would remember someone with a red star on their forehead quite easily.” He shot a brief, subconscious glance at Voryn’s third eye, before continuing. “Such a mark would be the talk of Raven Rock, after all.”
“Maybe you recognize his clothes then?” Nerevar offered, pulling out an embroidered shirt and jacket that had begun to thaw in his bag. The captain looked that over as well, his brow furrowing more.
“... I haven’t seen anyone in clothes like this for some time.” He remarked. “It’s old House Hlaalu craftsmanship.” He made a sour face as he looked it over. “I’m not exactly an expert, but I saw pieces like these often during their height in the Third Era. Half the people in Balmora were wearing it.”
Nerevar frowned, taking the shirt back and looking over it. He just recognized it as dunmeri and a bit imperial, but…
There was bright yellow and pink flowers--or maybe they were fruit--beaded on it. Gold scrollwork was around the collar as well, a tell tale sign of Third Era Empire influence. After the oblivion crisis it had long since fallen out of fashion, and now House Hlaalu had hardly any craftsman to speak of now that their house had been demoted. The few that were left went to other houses, renouncing House Hlaalu, or renounced Morrowind entirely and stayed in the empire’s heartland to produce dunmeri goods for the rest of the continent. The beads were elegant pink glass too, in a style he recalled was vaguely popular in Cyrodiil before he was shipped off to Morrowind as the Nerevarine.
It was… Unusual.
“Did you see him come into port then?” Raven Rock was really the only port on Solstheim after all. “He had to have been seen by someone… He was looking for his parents too.”
“I will ask around then. I’m certain someone must have spotted him at some point.” Someone must have. He had to get on the island somehow, after all, and from how he was dressed he doubted he came in on a raft or something.
“Thank you.” Nerevar tucked the clothes back in, sighing. “I guess we’d better go back and drop these off for him then and wait until he comes to for answers unless you can find his family first.”
Most of Vivienne’s companions returned back to the manor, but Vivienne and Taliesan accompanied Nerevar and Voryn as they returned to the healer, more confused than ever. Voryn had still been oddly silent--more than he usually was, anyways. Typically he would make a few quips, or even just hold Nerevar’s hand and offer him a few smiles. Instead Voryn seemed distant and deep in thought, which only confused Nerevar more.
“Something on your mind?” He asked, and Voryn blinked, looking down at him.
“I was just… Thinking about that dunmer.”
“He’s certainly been a weird case.” Nerevar replied. “Did he seem familiar to you?”
“Vaguely.” Voryn answered. “But I would know if I’d seen him before…” He huffed slightly, clearly annoyed by how strange it all was. “But when I first saw him I thought…” His voice trailed off.
“What?” Nerevar asked, taking Voryn’s gloved hand and giving it a squeeze.
“An… Odd thought came to mind. Almost out of place.” He hummed softly. “‘Little star’ was what I first thought and I feel… Protective towards him.”
“I thought Neht was the broody hen out of the two of you…” Taliesan muttered under his breath, before getting an elbow to the ribs from Vivienne.
“Well hopefully we can get him in good health and back with his family.” Nerevar smiled, even though he too couldn’t help but feel something was amiss.
--
“Hortator,” A healer rushed to him the moment they entered, and Nerevar at first thought the worst; his anxiety spiked as he was concerned from the look on her face she was going to tell them the boy didn’t make it even though he thought they got him to town in time. “You need to come see this.”
He gave a look, telling Vivienne and Talisan to stay near the door, before he followed the healer to the back. Voryn came with him silently; both out of concern for the boy, and because he was Nerevar’s guard as well as husband and refused to leave him unattended.
There, he could see the dunmer under piles of blankets. The room was warm now as they got to work slowly warming his core up. It seemed like the healing spells also managed to save his limbs from frostbite too, which was a relief. But the healer took his hand, motioning towards the ring that made Nerevar freeze.
He knew that ring. He would know it anywhere.
It was the Moon-and-Star. Proof of his identity and the ring he used to unite Resdayn so many centuries ago. It looked identical, to the point Nerevar tore off his own glove to check that he still had his. Even if it had been stolen, it would kill anyone that wasn’t Nerevar, so how was he…?
Voryn stepped forward, taking the ring from his hand, looking it over carefully, and checking the enchantment.
“... It’s authentic dwemer craftsmanship.” Voryn remarked, more puzzled than before. “Identical to your ring.” If it was real dwemeri jewelry then it had to be ancient--from before the War of the First Council. Had one of Dumac’s craftsmen made a copy?
“The enchantment is almost the same as well.”
“Almost?” Nerevar quirked a brow.
“It’s the same enchantment from Azura but modified slightly.” Voryn held the ring tightly. “Instead of it killing anyone but you, it also would allow someone of your blood like a descendant to wear it.” Honestly Nerevar had considered asking for that modification in his first lifetime, but had ultimately decided against it when he soon learned Almalexia had no interest in having a child with him. What was the point if he didn’t have any kids? He wasn’t going to get any random woman pregnant--and if he did through some mistake (even though he preferred men), giving a child he didn’t really know access to such a powerful ring could spell disaster.
“That’s… Strange.” Stranger still that meant this dunmer must be him then? But that didn’t seem right at all, especially not when there were two rings. “We should consult Azura about this…”
“I agree.” Voryn slipped the ring back on regardless. “It could be her doing, or something stranger going on…”
“Like the cultists?”
“It would be convenient for the Tribunal Cultists, I can’t deny it.” Voryn looked disgusted even talking about them. “They could claim you are a fake, and the real reincarnation of Nerevar backed the Tribunal Temple rather than the Good Three. Raise counter claims to your right to the throne and your leadership entirely.”
“Well right now he’s still asleep.” Nerevar replied. “Even when he wakes up I doubt he’ll be much of a threat. We can speak with Azura, and failing that we can have Vivienne commune with Mephala.” If Azura didn’t know, Mephala would; it would be well within her scope after all and if anyone had gotten so close to making a false ‘Nerevarine’, it would have piqued her interest.
“We’ll keep tending to him in the meantime.” The healer spoke up. “Besides hypothermia he has extensive internal injuries, likely due to some kind of magic attack.” She looked at the boy with heavy concern in her eyes. “I don’t know how he was walking with how injured he was… I haven’t seen injuries like that in all my days as a healer.” That was even more concerning; whatever attacked him might still be out there.
“We’ll be back soon.” Nerevar told her, before giving one last glance at the pale dunmer. “Once he’s stable, have him moved to the manor. I want to make sure he’s well guarded.” He didn’t want to risk any cultists being able to find him; the manor would be safe and allow them to keep a close eye on him.

Some of my favorite lines for you!
"Ah, how my heart soars to look upon a sister/brother Bosmer!" -Elrindir when the dragonborn is Bosmer
"I hope your parents are proud of you. They have a lot of reason to be." -Old ladies when they're nice to you
Literally anything Captain Veleth says because I love his accent but especially his conversation with Dreyla "Iz it becuz of ya faaaaahthaaah?" I know you don't know what any of that means because you haven't played dragonborn but trust me it's so funny
Oh speaking of dragonborn, Neloth has this great line when he sends you off to kill his ex-apprentice "Be sure to come back with and amusing story of how Ildari died" which i mostly love because he says "died" in such a weird way its so great it sounds like he's trying to do a trump impression with a british accent
oh i love that first line, i got it in my lavinia playthrough. i love a lot of the lines that are just mer and beast races just going wow i am so happy to be in the company of someone like me like they are the sweetest lines.
i also love that line bc in any case ill always just think of paarthurnax and be lie ykw? he is proud of me.
JFKSJKFLAS i was about to be like idk who they are but you beat me to it. and you know its not for lack of trying the dlc is 100% broken lmao
man i love that neloth not only needs you to kill this guy but hes also like you better make it interesting bc im bored and need a good story

Riiju-Lei: *steps out of the wretching netch, tying a piece of cloth around his forehead covering his third eye as he does so* right, back to skyrim the- *backs up as he’s suddenly surrounded by temple guards* I- what? What’s going on?!
Galdrus Hlervu: *emerges from behind the guards dragging Elder Othreloth by his arm* Oh you know exactly what’s going on here Sharmat! You may have everyone else on this island fooled but I know the truth!
Elder Othreloth: Galdrus! Stop this at once!!
Captain Veleth: *walks over with his men seeing the situation unfolding* What’s the meaning of this?! This lads put our settlement back on the map and even cleared your temple of Ash spawn! You have no grounds to threaten him in the street like this!
Galdrus Hlervu: With all do respect captain this is a matter concerning the ancestral temple so kindly run along. And as for grounds- *suddenly grabs the cloth from Riiju’s face pulling it from his head and showing his third eye* SEE?! I TOLD YOU! HE HAD YOU ALL FOOLED! THE COUNCILLORS AND THE CAPTAIN KNEW ABOUT IT!
Elder Othreloth: Galdrus you’re causing a scene-
Captain Veleth: A third eye does not the false dreamer make him. I once met an argonian with two tails, a dunmer with a third eyeball could be anybody-
Galdrus Hlervu: Oh really captain? Then how is it that both he and the Hortator were both reported to have coincidentally returned late last evening and now lord nerevar is missing hm?!
Riiju-Lei: p-please I can explain everything-
Galdrus Hlervu: Silence! You’ve spread your lies throughout this entire settlement to trick the good people here into thinking highly of you! But I know exactly who you are you n’wa-
Nerevar: You’d best think before you say what I think you’re about to, priest. *steps out of the doorway to the wretching netch, team dragonborn following behind him as the temple guards back up in shock to be in his presence*
Galdrus Hlervu: I- l-lord nerevar you’re alive-
Nerevar: Yes. I am. *grabs the cloth from his hand and yanks it away before gently tying it back around Leis brow, smiling at him adoringly as he does so* And he’s not the Sharmat. However he is the reincarnation of Voryn Dagoth. My closest friend, now much more… *flares down at the slimy weasel of a priest before him* And from what I hear. *glances around before looking back at him* He’s been kinder to the people of raven rock in the weeks he’s been here than you’ve been since you were stationed to this temple. Perhaps I should have him replace you.
Galdrus Hlervu: I- wh-what? *drops down to his knees* m-my lord wait-
Elder Othreloth: *catching on that nerevar just wants to make him squirm* Yes I’ve heard splendid things about you all around solstheim and word has even reached my ears from skyrim about you lad. Hard working, kind, and- *holds up the bag of coin he’d tried paying him for clearing out the ash spawn* Very generous. Shall I try giving this to you again or will you hide it in my coat pocket this time?
Riiju-Lei: *visibly blushes at being called out* I-h-heh, I don’t feel right accepting money from the temple sir, or from anyone here on raven rock it’s been hard- *looks around finally noticing how busy it is in the settlement* I? Gods what’s happened? This place is- booming.
Captain Veleth: *enjoying seeing Galdrus meltdown* Oh all this? This is all your work lad! You and your friends, this place is finally back on its feet and we have you lot to thank for it!
Elder Othreloth: And that’s yet another reason why I’ve been considering asking you to replace Galdrus!
Galdrus Hlervu: *on the verge of tears grovelling at nerevars feet, looks back at the elder priest* m-Master Othreloth! You can’t be serious!!
Nerevar: *trying not to laugh* Then it’s settled. By my right as Hortator, I hereby discommunicate you from the ancestral temple and appoint Riiju-Lei Dagoth, head of the 6th house now mourned as you’re replacement.
Galdrus Hlervu: *literally having a tantrum as his life’s work collapses before him, banging his fists on the ground and screaming between wailing sobs* NOOOO! NOOOO PLEASE NOOOO!!!
Riiju-Lei: *gently pats nerevars arm* as amusing as it is it is cruel, besides I swear too much to be a priest… don’t think I could get used to the underwear either. Let him keep his job… please?…
Nerevar: *smiles at him fondly before looking down at the snivelling elf at his feet* oh fine. Consider my decree null and void. You may keep your job if your superior sees fit.
Galdrus Hlervu: *snot and tears running down his face as he stops mid meltdown* I-I? M-my lord?
Elder Othreloth: hmmm, very well then. Though my offer still stands if he steps out of line like this again~
Captain Veleth: and speaking of which. *suddenly cuffs the priest pulling him off the ground and to his feet* Youre getting a night in the slammer for threatening a civilian with undo cause or writ, and for causing a public disturbance!
Galdrus Hlervu: I- w-wait no! No I’m sorry! IM SORRY! MASTER OTHRELOTH HELP ME!!
Elder Othreloth: No I think this’ll be good for you. And once you’re back your studying the lies of Vivec and cleaning the chamber pots!
Galdrus Hlervu: *screams as he’s dragged off*
Nerevar: *snickers watching him disappear through the crowd before looking at Riiju* are you okay?
Riiju-Lei: you… called me Riiju-Lei Dagoth… head of the 6th house, now mourned?…
Nerevar: I… yes. I apologise I should have made sure you were comfortable with the titles but I wanted him to know how important you are… to me… and to a lot of people in morrowind…
Riiju-Lei: *smiles softly* thank you… it’ll… take me a while to get used to it…
Nerevar: it’s okay… we have a long while yet before you’ll be hearing it often… but before then. *holds his hands* I want to go to skyrim. And see everything there is of Riiju-Lei, the last dragonborn~
Riiju-Lei: *smiles and starts laughing again, unable to contain his giddiness or control his emotions yet but honestly not wanting to in the slightest* okay!
Taliesin: …are we getting back on the water now?… *groans already feeling sea sick*
Miraak: you can ride on one of my dragons if you’d like-
Kaidan: *jealously yoinks Taliesin to his side* We. Will take the ship, and I’ll hold his pretty hair out of his face as he gets sea sick thank you!

First Line, Best Line, Last Line!

Doing part one of Grieve at the Mercy from Measure for Measure
First Line: Captain Veleth was the one to find the Dragonborn the first time it happened.
Best Line: The sea was dark and thick with sludge from the mines, so combined with the enormous crop of nirnroot; it looked like Dawnstar was sliding down the mountains into the edge of Oblivion.
Last Line (of part one): “End it.” Tyre said. Vivi looked at him, her face closed off. “Can you end it, Vivi?”
“Yes, my friend.” Vivi said. “We are going to end it.”

Mirrors Within Dreams: Chapter 4
Tumblr media
tries to make a header for this chapter update post, ends up making a YA novel cover…
After a few months now, I’m happy to say I’ve at last updated this story!
In which the First and Last Dragonborn finally meet for the first time, face to face.
I am by no means a lore expert, but I tried my darn’dest with what I know about Morrowind (the game and province), Solstheim, and Miraak himself. I hope it’s good and makes sense! Though some parts are not meant to make sense right now, and only later they will.
Though, granted, it may come off as a bit wonky in the narration, but the chapter opens with entering between worlds/entering Apocrypha, so, I think that’s to be expected.
Anyway, here is a quick “the story so far,” just so one doesn’t necessarily have to look over chapters 1-3 and can literally just start at chapter 4:
Unspecified/not-yet-specified events happened in Skyrim just before the story began, and Byrdie is now shipwrecked on Solstheim, after the Northern Maiden was destroyed in a massive daedric storm at sea. Byrdie is rescued by the Skaal and meets Frea, who questions why she’s there at the island in the first place. Soon, many the inhabitants of Raven Rock along with House Redoran guards come up to the border of the village and nearly start a battle with the Skaal, blaming them for the strange dark magic coming from their All Maker Stones and now blaming them AGAIN for the wreck and loss of the Northern Maiden. Byrdie is able to come between them and pacify the tension between the two, and confirms through everyone that it is indeed someone named Miraak behind all this, just as the shaman of the Skaal has suspected. The Raven Rock inhabitants leave, the guard captain, Veleth, requesting Byrdie to appear to their council as soon as she can. From there, Byrdie, along with Inigo and Frea, then head off to the Temple of Miraak, attempting to hopefully stop him, or at least figure out how he is doing all of this. The trio fights their way through draugr and cultists within the Temple, until finally they come across the Black Book at its base. Byrdie attempts to read it, but suddenly she is pulled into the book, Waking Dreams, where her foe resides.

The World on Our Shoulders | Chapter 15: Of All the Sujamma Joints in All the Towns on All of Nirn, She Walks Into Mine
6th of Morning Star 4E 202
“You should consider joining the Redoran guard, Sero,” Captain Veleth said for the four hundredth time. Teldryn sighed and wiped dragon guts off his sword with a scrap of rich brown fabric he’d found in the ash. Might have been another scarf, once. He wondered who’d worn it, but it would be impossible to tell, especially if the dragon had been feasting on the bounty of Reavers out here in the wastes.
“No, no. I make more money as a mercenary. I said this before,” he answered, sounding bored. “Besides, I’m not even House Redoran, as you well know.”
“Suit yourself on both counts. Can’t be making much sitting and staring at the door of the Netch waiting for some rich patron to drop in, not these days,” Veleth said with a shrug. “There’ll be work for you with us, especially if more of these bastards make their way over.” He nodded over his bonemold pauldron. “Though I doubt they’ll already be half-dead the next time, whatever this was about.” Teldryn scowled, but Veleth wouldn’t have seen it under his scarf. Half-dead or not, it didn’t make the fight any less difficult. It was a Godsdamned dragon, after all. Even as dire as its situation was, the thing almost gutted the greener new hires who got too close to its maw, like a bunch of s’wiit.
“I was drunk for most – if not all – of Last Seed,” he drawled. Veleth rolled his eyes. “I wasn’t sure if I hadn’t imagined that bunch of Nordic hogwash about these monsters when word about Helgen came over with Gjalund.” He glared over at the corpse of the dragon, blue-scaled skin already thrice-flayed along its side as if it had gotten into a fight with another dragon. The wound looked like it had been made by unfathomably enormous claws, anyhow. He wondered if it had fought the Dragonborn of legend before fleeing here to Solstheim – though, unless the mysterious warrior was some unholy weredragon, it looked like this one had simply lost a territory dispute. Were they really just like other beasts, these colossal, mythical things? He hadn’t heard a single thing about them except in extravagant tales, and at that, only back in Windhelm.
“Well, not everything the Nords say is worthless, anyway,” Veleth said. He tossed a bag of gold over. It would be only a fraction of the fee Teldryn normally charged, he knew, but such was the way of things these days in Raven Rock. The town was pretty much dead and money was hard to come by. He wouldn’t give Veleth the satisfaction of being right about his employment situation, though. He could complain to Geldis about that over some much needed Sujamma.
“Did you happen to requisition Neloth’s silt strider for the return trip, too?” Teldryn asked, already pessimistic. He didn’t want to trudge back through the wastes on foot overnight. It was midwinter and the winds off the ocean were enough to kill a man who stayed still for too long.
“Do I look like I want my guts instantly repositioned to the outside of my body?” Veleth asked sarcastically. Teldryn didn’t grace his ridiculous statement with an answer. Veleth cleared his throat. “The answer is no. We were just lucky the traders weren’t going to tell him about our trip out of town.”
“He doesn’t do necromancy anymore, you know,” Teldryn said pointedly. “If he did eviscerate you with a spell, you wouldn’t be around to complain about it.” He cracked his back and groaned. “Meanwhile, the rest of us will have to tough it out across all this ash.”
“You’re young,” Veleth said. “You’ll survive.”
“Sure, sure, whatever you say,” Teldryn sneered. He waved his hand dismissively.
With that, the Captain of the Redoran Guard fell back in line with his men, and left Teldryn to his own devices. The guards still had a search to complete out here. There had been no trace of the tailor who, like a fool, had decided to cross to Tel Mithryn by himself instead of waiting for a caravan. If the ash spawn didn’t get him, the dragon certainly did. They could search all night if they’d like. It was a hopeless task. Had he known the man was going out that way, Teldryn would probably have escorted the man at a cut rate just for the excuse to bother Neloth in his garish mushroom lair. He resigned to hike back to town. With his luck, he’d probably already missed a new potential patron. -> Read the rest on AO3

Ah, I didn't draw it, but I went touch the stone again after this. He lost his interest so I was just building the thing again for no reason.
