I recently received a couple of asks linking to some Youtube/Twitter videos and asking me who the voice actor is, for example [I had responded to this ask in private because the asker is off anon jsyk]:

I generally don’t mind answering these kinds of ask because it means you probably would want to support/find the original author’s works, so alright I’ll help to facilitate that. but tbh I don’t particularly support these kinds of youtube translators who repost other people’s stuff because:

it takes views and attention away from the original uploader,

they probably didn’t ask for the original poster’s permission to do so,

the original video/post/tweet is there in the SAME PLATFORM, why not just boost/caption/comment on the original material? it’s like screenshotting a post on tumblr and posting it instead of just reblogging the original post, yikes.

this is also why i don’t go to youtube/sc cd channels or whatever bc to be actually honest, these kinds of reposting channels make me go [yikes-face.jpg], because most of the time they either don’t ask permission, don’t link to the original, don’t credit the original, or any combination of these.

it’s one thing to repost on another platform that the original author doesn’t have a presence in, because it might help the original author be known, but if they don’t credit, then do they really want to help the author? no, they’re just posting stuff for clout. i am not going to even mince my words. they are full of thirst for social currency called followers, likes, and comments that they no longer respect content creators’ wishes.

not even just the audio, the cover image too lol it’s typically some stolen artwork from a random artist/fanartist. truly no respect. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: this happens a lot to indie ASMR channels like kirinyan, not just companies. and maybe YT JPN is stricter? bc usually when the original channel gets deleted due to adult content, the reposted one remains, which is a shame bc then people would think the original one is the reposter bc they wouldn’t be able to find the original anymore.
