If Snaktooth island is made up entirely of Bugsnax, the Bugsnax must have clumped up somewhere in the middle of the ocean somehow. I’m thinking that super ancient Bugsnax live in the water, and shift into what they see sea creatures eating.

The Snaktooth Bugsnax are the first land-based snax to be discovered.
