do you do lucid dreaming or astral projection? i've been able to do it a few times but never been able to control it. do you have any tips for how to do so?
I try! It’s actually been a long time project of mine to have vivid dreams, lucid dream and astral project. I figured if I have to spend 10-12 hours sleeping, I might as well make them interesting!
So far I have had some success in having more vivid dreams, but not so much with lucid dreaming. The first step, I believe, is being able to remember your dreams.
For a while I was on a medication called gabapentin to get better sleep. It lengthens the time period you experience Delta waves as you sleep, which is when you dream. While on that medication I had more dreams I was able to remember and woke up earlier feeling more refreshed.
Apples also supposedly have a chemical in them that makes your dreams more vivid, and after eating one before bed or having some applesauce it seems to be true. I also sometimes drink hot chocolate because the little bit of caffeine can cause dreams.
I am also currently working on a dream garden. Mugwort is mildly psychoactive which causes dreams, and I’m also trying to grow Xhosa Dream Root for the same reason.
If you are interested in more mystical methods, there is the Icelandic Dream Stave, which gives one the ability to control their dreams. I’m still working on gathering the supplies for it. (It involves carving a design onto Lignite with a Dogfish spine when the moon is three days old)
Other things I’ve seen suggested in my research are to try to count your fingers or check the time while dreaming. This doesn’t pull you out of the dream as much as asking yourself if you’re dreaming, but gives you some control in the dream.
For remembering dreams, I’ve seen it suggested to create a habit right before you sleep and right as you wake up (such as drinking half a glass of water right before you go to sleep and finishing it right as you wake up). This helps connect the two events and your brain tries to fill in what happened between, allowing you to better remember your dreams.
Thank you so much for asking! This is such a cool question to receive. I wish you the best of luck in your dreams! I’d love for you to tell me how it goes!
"... I'm still small, I'm only 2,000 years old. By human standards, we have been growing for a very, very long time.
People think that dragons are fairy tales, fiction, because you haven't seen us for too long.
The old dragons fell asleep a long time ago, turned into huge mountains, the oldest of them are already covered with dense forests. There are also those who sleep at the bottom of the oceans, deep, deep.
And we, the little ones, know how to perfectly disguise ourselves from prying eyes.
But I like you, that's why you see me..."
