disappointed. and angry. using sexuality as a joke or as an insult, especially in a very homophobic environment like football (or sports, in general) makes it a much more toxic place, and possibly even unsafe for the lgbt+ community (including those who are still not out yet). i strongly echo what most of you are saying as well, on how closeted individuals will see the horrible homophobia from the "fans" which resulted from this "joke". i'm hurt that the people you have looked up to and supported since a young age have become the ones you now fear. i say 'fear' because as an lgbt+ person, i know how homophobic people can do so much of damage even if it's "indirect". and such "joke" coming from a celebrity or someone with a big following like ik*r and p*yol, can do even more damage. in these times when we are trying so hard to eliminate homophobia, these two just opened another pathway for shitty homophobic football "fans" to continue thriving. this sucks terribly, but please don't lose hope y'all, let's keep fighting.

Carles Puyol: "You have to try not to say too much in public, because then those things could be misinterpreted. However, İlkay had no bad intentions."
"Everybody has the right to say what they want. I personally prefer to say those things in the locker room. You speak your mind without any ill intent and that's it."
