re: fans not always having better ideas, that reminded me that while I do agree that MSM2 had some pacing and plotting issues (though not to the extent that the fanboys are insisting), I've never read a hardcore hater fan's allegedly improved story treatment that wasn't far worse than the actual game, especially if their main problem is Eddie Brock not being Venom; I think most of them are blurred to me bc I couldn't finish reading them, but I read one recently that had weird ideas like having Carlton Drake be a major playable character, specifically for the MJ missions, among a lot of other terrible ideas.

Funnily enough, that post was prompted by SM L*tus, because the creator (before him and a couple of others in their group got outed as massive racists and pedos) was yelling about how the MCU SM movies suck and everyone is a hack, and he could make a much better SM movie. And while I'm not the biggest fan of the MCU, it's still better than whatever the hell he crapped out. I only watched a review because no way in hell I'm gonna sit through an almost 2 hour slopfest made by racists. Though I do feel bad for the CGI artists and everyone else who had nothing to do with the controversy and their names are attached to this Thing.

And I don't even bother reading the MSM2 suggestions after seeing of dozens of horny men self-projecting and suggesting that Peter should cheat on MJ with Felicia. Most of the game's pacing issues could've been easily resolved by adding some breathing room and having a slower build-up instead of going from one big set piece to another at breakneck speed like a TikTok video.

The Search Intro

Hello hello and welcome to my search thread! I have three specific fandom cravings I need your help with: Hartwin, Johnlock & Symbrock. I’ve got some plots for your consideration below!

I’ve been roleplaying for a long time and prefer to write over Discord (shipsahoya#9763), but can also write over tumblr or email. I have no required word count or paragraph length from you, but do tell me your preference!

I work a busy job full time, so I can’t always post every day. Sometimes I can post multiple times a day and sometimes life gets in the way and it takes me a few days. I’m always happy to chat OOC! Let’s talk, share fanart and fics we like!

As a side note, I do not roleplay with minors. I prefer to roleplay with partners who are 21+.

The Roleplay Ideas

Hartwin - Eggsy Unwin / Harry Hart

Look, I love these two and have since the first movie came out. I prefer to play Eggsy.

• Canon Adjacent: Two years have gone by since Harry Hart was ‘killed’ by Valentine. Merlin, Eggsy, and Roxy have rebuilt the Kingsman team and have continued to work around the globe to keep the world safe. When Eggsy is sent on a mission out in the states, he’s getting settled in to his lodging when he spots none other than Harry Hart across the street. Harry Hart who has no memory of anything beyond the last two years.

• Undercover Mission: A new crime syndicate has been gaining more notoriety lately. Their HQ? An exclusive resort. In order to investigate what’s going on, Harry and Eggsy go undercover as a couple.

• Retired Harry/Injured Eggsy AU: Harry Hart retired from the Kingsman Agency after the death of Lancelot (Lee Unwin). Now, he runs a butterfly sanctuary down at the science center. Imagine his surprise when he finds a man passed out and bleeding in the middle of the sanctuary when he arrives for work one morning.

Johnlock - John Watson / Sherlock Holmes

Out of nowhere, I’ve been craving these two all over again. I prefer to play John.

• MCU AU: Sherlock Holmes doesn’t believe in sorcery until a case leads him to the Sorcerer Supreme. As things unfold, he becomes the new guardian of the Sanctum, only for CIA operative John Watson to be assigned to make sure he isn’t causing trouble.

• SuperWhoLock AU (minus the Dr. Who): Okay, I know. But hear me out, it’s about to be spooky season. So why shouldn’t Sherlock solve crimes with ghosts and ghouls and vampires? And why shouldn’t John be a blogger who’s been assigned to interview him with absolutely no belief in the supernatural?

• The Kingsman AU: The Kingsman Agency has lost a few members and is actively recruiting. John is brought into the recruiting process thanks to his medical experience in combat. Sherlock is brought in partly because his brother runs the organization, and partly for his crime solving skills. But can they survive training without butting heads?

Symbrock - Eddie Brock / Venom

Should I love them? Probably not. Do I? Absolutely. I prefer to play Eddie.

• Stranger Things AU: What if instead of traveling space, Carlton Drake was focused on opening a portal to the upside down? Only instead of mind flayers and demogorgons, the upside down is inhabited by the symbiotes? Eddie infiltrates the Life Foundation to find that someone has already made it through the portal…

• Far From Home: What if instead of spending all of FFH at the bar, Eddie and Venom find their way to New York City and after a squabble, end up teaming up with Peter Parker?

•Alternate First Movie: Down on his luck, Eddie decides to volunteer for human trials at the Life Foundation. Except Carlton Drake hasn’t been very upfront about what this trial entails.

Woo! It's the weekend! Except not!

Usually, I take my "weekend" on Sunday and Monday, cause that fits with my store schedule. But, I learned last week that I can't do that if I have therapy on a monday. I have, er, kind of a history with therapy. The stress isn't unwarranted, but it does suck ass. So, instead of ruining my days off, I'm gonna make myself somewhat useful (read: ignore my real life by staring at my code editor instead)

I didn't want these updates to turn into a new form of ventpost. But yeah, this week sucked. My brain went fully back on some old obsessive-thought-spiral topics, and those are really hard to stop because the more time your brain spends stressing out about something, the more it gets cemented as something you should stress out about. And if it's something guilty/self-deprecating it's even harder, because trying to distract yourself with something good or enjoyable makes the thoughts even worse. So, yeah, I'm pretty down this week.

Also, last weekend I accidentally made myself sad when I decided to back up all my sims stuff on a usb drive (i hoard usbs like a dragon). That period of my life, I miss how positive and hopeful and enjoyable it felt--not just the sims stuff, but stuff in general at the time. But, also, I hold a lot of disdain for my past self, I see that person as overindulgent, immature, sheltered, willfully in denial, and as exaggerating my problems so I didn't have to change and could stay in la-la-land. Is any of that true? Who the fuck knows. My brain got real weird about a lot of shit last year and now a lot of the stuff that used to make me happy is tinged with the Ick. Basically, I feel a deep longing because I tell myself life is never gonna be that good again, and I feel a deep disgust at letting myself have it that good to begin with. Again: is any of that accurate? I mean, I hope not. But idk. Last year, I kinda went unnecessarily scorched-earth on, well, my entire life, and now I'm just kinda dealing with the fallout. And the embarrassment. I'd like an undo for 2022, please.

On a lighter note, I did finally get some writing done this week! Not on the next chapter of my WIP, of course, but rather on what's probably gonna be...like four chapters ahead 😂 it's all good, gives me motivation to write the in-between stuff. And, I had to go digging through some old notebooks in the process, and came across some old fics from my "start 20 things but finish zero" era. Some of them are further along than others...maybe with some editing...nooo, noo, I already had to ditch one WIP cause I was overwhelmed, I don't need to give myself ideas 🤐. But also...hmm...anyone interested in an angsty Science Bros MCU fic, where Bruce gets infected with an alien microbe (I abandoned this one at the start of the pandemic, for obvious reasons). Orrr....bisexual Macgyver? Yeah, that was a thing. Or...the start what would've been my first "spicy" fic, starring Eddie Brock/Venom/Carlton Drake? Maybe that one's best left unpublished.

I did find one almost-finished TankJohnny oneshot, inspired by a tumblr post actually. Maybe I'll polish that one up...if I can find the post(s) it's based off, lol

he didn’t elaborate so you knew he didn’t want to talk about it. “here, put your head on my lap.” you instructed, taking his drink and setting it on the table. he moved so his head was on your lap and you began running your fingers through his hair to calm him down while he looked up at you with those big beautiful brown eyes.

“how did i ever get so lucky?” he asked.

you smiled down at him, “who says i’m not the lucky one?”

Who would have thought that the some of the side-effects of being infected with a alien symbiote would be similar to menopause (like experiencing a ‘hot flush’)?

(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all 112 minutes of ‘Venom’, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)

I think one of the reasons I held off watching Venom was that I didn’t know that Tom Hardy was playing Eddie Brock. Apparently only seeing half of Tom’s face (like on the posters) easily makes him look like someone else.

PS: I finally have confirmation on how I ended up being persuaded to watch ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘! I initially thought the preview was on auto-play....but then now I know that it’s actually the third epilogue.

(And also...I now understand that Miles lives in a parallel universe! Which sort of makes sense...because that means that the two MCU Spidey films are the one that is taking place in the ‘Original Universe’ --- or at least the one were supposed to focus on...)

PPS: I’m excited to the possibility (even if it’s odds of happening are 0.005%) of Eddie and Anne ending up in Miles’ universe....or the other way around....no...wait...I’d like them to be animated (I think the action sequences would work better in Miles’ universe). The humour that Tom and Michelle brought to their roles...are in a similar tone as ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘

PPPS: Technically this has ‘Horror’ elements...and I would say this would be an exception.

MRS. CHEN looks on in horror as VENOM eats the blackmailer.

EDDIE returns.

MRS. CHEN Eddie? What was that?

EDDIE shrugs it off...like he just had a sneeze.

EDDIE Oh...I have a parasite. Yeah.

He gestures. Yeah. No big deal. Just like a tapeworm.

EDDIE Night, Mrs. Chen.

He heads towards the exit.

EXT. CONVENIENCE STORE - CONTINUOUS

EDDIE exits the store and keeps walking.

VENOM Parasite?

EDDIE It's a term of endearment, that's all.

VENOM Apologize!

EDDIE No.

VENOM Apologize!

EDDIE All right, fine.

“Y/N and I have a mutual project, in fact here she comes.” Carlton looked past Eddie to where you were approaching.

“ah Y/N!” Eddie grinned, “good to see you, how are you doing?”

“I’m doing great Eddie,” you looked between him and the camera, “if you’re doing an interview i can come back later.”

“right, i forgot you two know each other.” Carlton said, hand slipping around your waist.

Eddie’s gaze went down to Carlton’s hand, “yeah we do- so how long have you two been together?”

“we’re not.” you answered.

“we’re just close.” Carlton glared at Eddie, removing his hand from your waist.

Eddie grinned, “and why is that?”

you opened your mouth but Carlton held up a hand, “this interview is over, turn off the camera.”

Eddie motioned for the camera man to do as Carlton had said, “perfect, now that we’re off the record, Y/N we never ended up getting that coffee, you free now?”

“definitely.”
