The Story of Winnie Foster is pretty much the only scene in any film or media that makes me cry. Like, gasping for air sobbing. The first time I watched it was a Saturday morning and from the second the Tucks walked up to the grave to the end of curtain call something clicked and I bawled my eyes out. That was the first time in my whole life that I shed multiple physical tears over a piece of fiction. Each time I watch it since then it gets earlier in the scene that I breakdown.
The acting
The choreography
The music
THE STORYTELLING IN ALL OF THOSE
There’s nearly no words in the last 10 minutes of the show and it utterly wrecks me
That’s why this show needs to go back to the big stage.
“Don’t be afraid of death; be afraid of an unlived life. You don’t need to live forever, You just need to live.”

what is tuck everlasting i know that akb was in it and there's a family and they're like immortal or smth???? and it had a criminally short broadway run cos hamilton idk. i'm considering getting into it. feel free to infodump!! (i'm not too worried about spoilers)
OH I AM CRYING THANK YOU
Yes, Tuck Everlasting is a musical about a family who drank from a spring that made them immortal, and a young girl who meets them. It’s about the value, beauty, and importance of life, and that it matters because it ends. This ties into the family being immortal because life is not life if you are stuck in immorality. It is amazing!!! This musical illustrates it in such beautiful ways - but the most poignant is a ballet at the end that goes through all the aspects pf a life - highs, lows, birth, death. It is heartbreakingly powerful and simply gorgeous.
But it doesn’t even stop there. The script is also so funny and witty like (“Nothing hurts us!” “Not physically anyway.” | “Came here as fast as we could!” “Fast as molasses…”) And there’s this whole song about how you can’t trust men in yellow suits and it’s genuinely the funniest thing I have ever heard.
And the characters!! It has one of the most genuine depictions of a family - including an old married couple who still finds joy in their relationship! It also has autistic deputy boy. Need I say more.
And also the rest of the soundtrack are BANGERS. It has this wonderful folksy sound, with fiddles and unconventional percussion, and it also goes a little hoedown at times. And I am a SUCKER for dance breaks, and this musical is not short of them. From beautiful waltzes, to jazzy swing, and bombastic flips - all equally fun and impressive.
And it’s true the cast is wildly talented! It’s kinda crazy how much variety of skill they got. You have Broadway legends like Terrence Mann and Carolee Carmello, fresh faces like Sarah Charles Lewis and Michael Wartella, strong male actors like Michael Park and Robert Lenzi, and a subset of bway actors I like to call Newsies - Andrew Keenan Bolger and Ben Cook. (Also Jeremy Jordan and Mike Faist were possibly going to work on this show!!)
Honestly I could go on for years…unLIKE ITS BROADWAY RUN I WANT JUSTICE

The Bad Cinderella cast announcement ruined my entire day. Y’all, I cannot handle this, and I refuse to like anything ALW has ever touched, but by god, if the casting choices for the MILFs in this show were not personally catering to me specifically.

I know it’s early days but if someone happens to make a slime tutorial for Bad Cinderella on Broadway please notify me. The Sentimental Men said that Carolee Carmello’s entrance is iconic and so I need to see her and Grace McLean be iconic sexy queens together, ya know?

After doing some research I feel confident in saying that this recording with Carolee Carmello as Trina is from 1992!
The first national tour of Falsettos began in December 1992 starring Carolee Carmello as Trina and Adrian Zmed as Marvin; Zmed was also a temporary replacement for Michael Rupert on Broadway. This recording clearly isn't from the tour, as Stephen Bogardus and Chip Zien are also starring, so it's from his time as a replacement. He sounds a little unfamiliar with the role here, which in combination with other evidence makes me think that this recording is pre-tour. It would have to have been after Carmello left her role as Cordelia as well, which was at the end of July 1992. My guess would be that once it was decided Zmed would play the tour with her she came back to Broadway to practice her new role alongside him for a few shows.
Additionally, I'm pretty sure Jason is played by Jonathan Kaplan, who left the show in late 1992!! It really looks like him, and that would fit with this timeline. (Exciting, bc I didn't realize any recordings of his performance existed!)

Speaking of Hello, Again (2017), per my previous post, you all deserve to see the full context. While the clips of Audra might be too explicit for Youtube because they're cowards, I have found it for you (in exactly the sort of site you'd expect). You're welcome. I risked a virus downloading this.
Hello, Again (1994), written by Michael John LaChuisa, originated as an off-Broadway musical focusing on ten characters and their illicit love affairs throughout the decades of the 20th century. The show received eight Drama Desk nominations, including one for our beloved Diva Donna Murphy (The Whore). Donna left the show early to star in Passion (she got a Tony so like...good decision there). Carolee Carmello also featured in the cast as The Young Wife.
The film adaptation gender-swapped The Whore and The Senator, thereby including several same-sex pairings, including that of Audra McDonald as The Actress and Martha Plimpton as The Senator.

You can find the above photo in gigantic proportions on your way downstairs to the Mitzi Newhouse Theatre at Lincoln Center. I stare at it a lot.
