Sun Wukong's Magic Staff, Secondhand
This is my favorite listing ever on Carousell, a website for secondhand goods. It's a rusty metal pipe with the name of Sun Wukong's magic staff written on it in marker. The selling price is the equivalent of $27,883,903.80 USD.
The Chinese at the bottom states it's so expensive because it's a divine treasure used by the Monkey King. Points for trolling.

[Book Review] The Prayer: Its Effect in Increasing Eeman and Purifying The Soul by Shaykh Husayn Al-Awaayishah
🧮 Score: 4.7/5.0
.
“Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Prayers with humility and attentiveness.” - (Surah al-Mu’minoon 23:1-2)
Tumblr media
■ Life fascinates us with its unknown twists and turns. Which may cause us to lose focus and aching with disillusionment and suffering. Let's liberate our hearts from worries, refine our Prayer(Salah) and elevate our faith(Eeman).
The author illustrates the importance and benefits of Salah with ample references from the Quran and Sunnah. He encourages us to reflect and compare our Salah with that of the Prophet (SAW) and his Companions (RA). Not only discusses the practices on an individual level, but he also highlights the functions of the society and family institutions in boosting our eeman as a Muslim and collectively as the Ummah.
■ In only about 112 pages, he conveyed the knowledge(Deen) without undermining common confusions/misunderstandings on cultural appropriations. It’s amazing how clear his words are. His writings are stern yet uplifting. He empathises, clarifies and reminds things with care and sincerity. I also appreciate the provided footnotes and glossary that validate the sources.
Tumblr media
■ How should we turn, and widen our perspectives and attitudes towards the ideas/obligations? We must do self-reflections and embrace entirely these three gems; intentions, humility and attentiveness. Then only we taste the sweetness in following the Sunnah, i. e. the correct ways to worship.
● Frequently, we find ourselves engulfed in the aftermath of our mistakes, be they wrong choices or unwise words spoken. To move forward and renew our eeman is to let go of our past. Acknowledge our shortcomings/wrongdoings, learn from them and move on. ● We need to cleanse our hearts. Begin with a genuine and earnest repentance, beseeching Allah (SWT) for forgiveness and His mercy. Make a firm commitment for a fresh start. ● The Quran strengthens our souls, infusing them with elevated faith. Dedicate extra effort to recite, explore the tafseer or learn the Arabic language to fully appreciate the Quran's eloquence, beauty, and miraculous nature. ● The Elixir of Life: Salah. Instead of going on auto-pilot mode, fully engage with Him during the five prescribed moments each day. Express genuine gratitude and directly present your concerns to Him.
Tumblr media
■ To conclude, in a world where Salah often becomes a mere habit, the author reiterates the spiritual depths and discusses the condition of the heart one should cultivate when approaching this act of worship, offering insights on how to foster this mindset and exploring the impacts Salah should have on one's life.
Eeman, like a delicate flower, can bloom or wither in response to life's various challenges. Repent, ascend, and usher shifts into your life to earn the pleasure of your Creator. Be the Ummah that is capable of instigating positive societal transformations, rather than one that perpetually whines about every tiny problem.

Was doing some chores in just my lingerie today afternoon (it’s one of my kinks hehe), and had a sudden urge to please myself. Unfortunately I lost my vibrator awhile back when I was travelling, and I have not bought a replacement. Decided to use my FOREO vibrator cleanser device as a makeshift vibrator. The vibration intensity wasn’t that great, but hey, it got the job done. I had a good time.
In other news, I have opened a Carousell account to sell my preloved lingerie to people who appreciate them! If you are in Singapore and are keen in owning some of my preloved intimates, you may find me on Carousell @furryjellybunny 🐰

There Is Something As ‘Away’: To Walk In The Newness Of Life, Say Goodbye To Things That We Do Not Need And Say Hello To Things That We Will No Longer Buy
There is nothing scornful of your life if you keep buying and disposing. We are human. We want to feel secure and count on owning things that money can buy.
I am moving house this month. I have lived by the sea for more than 30 years. I yearn for some ‘fresh’, if not refreshing, air around the bustling city.
Moving home is nightmarish when it comes to packing my belongings especially old things—that I am sentimentally attached to. Objects can hold memories and emotions, and getting rid of them can make me feel that I am destroying a part of my past. I fear ‘fear’ too, the fear of letting go, of the loss of a possession and of the unknown relating to replacing it with another thing.
One thing makes old people unique: time. The older you are, the more time you have had to accumulate things. Sadly, as death is approaching, we should try to create ease and space for our life. Nothing is as important as gradually throwing un-needed, though much wanted, stuff away. It is wise for us to control things before life will soon be out of our control. I have been keeping too many things that I did not bother to take a look at, let alone use them.
Guilt is one of the hardest feelings between the ready us and the reluctant us to throw away things. I have learnt a few lessons this time. Don’t give up too many things and at least keep 50% of what you do not want in order to make yourself less nervous. Learn to dislike an item when it can remind you of the stupid mistake of buying it in the first place. Make a generous gift of things to your friends, building caretakers or office colleagues who desire to take over your possessions. Donate anything that charitable organisations may want. You can support the cause of helping those in need. Think about the joy of decluttering and your stress-free life will bring; and also the beauty of minimalism that your home may acquire.
The Japanese developed a philosophy called ‘mottainai 勿体無’. The principle is to ask people to 'reduce, re-use and re-cycle'.
It encourages us to stop buying things and make good use of what we presently have. I can buy less but cannot stop buying. So, the new Japanese theory of ‘斷•捨•離 (break, abandon and depart)’ is right for my aptitude. Removing unnecessary things from my life is now the best timing when I have to declutter for my new place.
From now onwards, whenever I buy in future, I will get rid of one thing in my house and later, perhaps 2 items, 3 items and 4…till everything in my house only has one of its kind. Less is more and emptiness is the best.
‘Carousell’ is a web-based online marketplace for people to sell second-hand stuff. I tried but all the hassles involved in the process including the delivery of the goods to a buyer put me off. Donation is the great solution.
Hong Kong government will soon impose the ‘charge-per-bag’ arrangements, residents will have to pay for each litre of garbage that they throw away. It is now the right thing and the right time to dispose of what you do not need; before you have to pay.
Let us all reduce the complexity of survival by having a rich life that is simple. One day, ‘you are left only with what you love, with what is necessary and what makes you happy’. Sounds good?

[Book Review] 🧕Vol. 2: Muslim Woman’s Participation in Social Life🧕
🧮 Score: 3.8/5.0 . "To sum up, social meeting between men and women entails that they look at each other. This is perfectly alright, as long as they behave decently, not gazing hard at each other or coupling their gaze with desire." - page 50.
Tumblr media
■ This book is a part of the abridged version of Abd al-Halim Abu Shuqqah’s eight-volume series, originally published in Arabic, titled: “ Tahrir al-Mar’ah fi ‘Asr al-Risalah”. The cases he presented and discussed are sourced mainly from Saheeh al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim. His work provides a nuanced perspective on Muslim women’s issues. . ■ In this volume, the author presented insightful cases on mixed social life as the pattern in the early Muslim society book that sheds light on the multifaceted roles and contributions of Muslim women during the Prophet’s lifetime, challenging stereotypes and misconceptions. It covers topics on ibadah, works, minglings and more. He stressed on the importance of women’s participation in wider fields in shaping their communities and building nations.
Tumblr media
■ He addressed many common “misogyny” practices or biases that persist in our culture. It is refreshing and comforting seeing the author point out the nonsensical stances that have been made to appear “religious” while having no reflection on the Sunnah, frankly speaking.
I really like and always am reminded of a hadith that tells the incident where Saidina Umar and Lady Asma argued about who has a better claim to Rasulullah regarding their hijrah. The way she stood up for herself is beautiful. :) Cos we know from seerah, people usually “fear” Saidina Umar. . ■ Nonetheless, the author still emphasises Islamic principles regarding modesty and appropriate conduct at all times. In a few cases, he repeated the hadiths, but explain them from different perspectives and touching different issues. Although, there are a few issues discussed that can be controversial and still up for scholarly debate, wallahualam.
Tumblr media
■ I appreciate the author's efforts, may Allah swt has mercy on his soul. I encouraged my fellow sisters to read all the volumes in this series. So far, so good, alhamdulillah. A recommended book for quick references and understanding of Muslim women’s issues. . ---- ● Buy a preloved copy here: https://carousell.app.link/tT6bGIQLpCb . ● Buy new copies here: https://www.imanshoppe.com/products/the-muslim-womans-participation-in-social-life-volume-2-by-abd-al-halim-abu-shuqqah?ref=ICHAMICHA

"You cant use your cane because people will think you're disabled.."
Not gonna lie, I think nearly crying because it hurts so bad to stand might count as disabled. Not being able to write anything because our wrists are so weak might count as disabled. And just maybe, being in so much pain we might throw up because we've been walking for half an hour might just count as disabled. But lord forbid people look at us and think we might be a cripple.
