reading carrie finally (the pt-br translation) n a thought i had brewing in the back of my mind has been confirmed. i think linzi hateley from the 1988 musical is probably the closest portrayal we'll get 2 the book one. i don't just mean the fact that when she performed in the musical she was chubby n brown-haired like how carrie was, but also just... there's this certain sadness 2 her glare n stage acting that i just find fits book carrie rlly well
also!! the way she was styled. whoever did the costuming completely nailed it i'm absolutely in love w/ the fluffy cardigan she wears on top of that cute a-line dress
Hot Take: the next Carrie adaption should be a series so the lore behind Carrie’s powers and the extra development from the novel can be included without any worry of trying to fit it all into an hour+.
Sometimes a family is a traumatized teenage girl with telekinesis, her emotional support Saint Bernard, her adopted cowboy Clint Eastwood look-alike father from another world and their sentient red 1958 Plymouth Fury.
ok so. billy nolan from carrie (1976) and the book can suck dick and eat glass. but Listen. billy nolan from the musical is fruity and my fav. like in the other mediums he's abusive and crazy and awful but in the musical he's??? himbo??? like idk what they did to him but he went from hitting chris and coming up w the blood himself bc he was twisted and terrible to just going along w whatever chris says bc he's a simp. he's even like "even for me this is pretty damn sick :/" and in the 1988 og version he just stands behind chris dancing while she goes on about the blood like hello ?????
