20 13 fanfic questions
Thanks to @randomfoggytiger for the tag. I didn’t do all of them, just the pertinent ones, and I modified those just to include ffnet as well.
1. How many works do you have? 26 on AO3 (for my mature rated Spy Castle stuff); fanfiction.net has 278 Castle fics;and about 300ish archived at Gossamer for X-Files.
4. What are your top fics by kudos/reviews? The Return of Vulcan Simmons, Tempest (not a spy work!) on AO3; ffnet would be One Hundred Days of Summer (co-authored with SandianeCarter) and Dash It All.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yeah, I think if you take the time to contact me, you deserve the respect of hearing from me. It might not be a full-blown conversation, but I’ll do what I can with a full-time profession and a writing one as well. Also, suuuuper sorry, just discovered AO3 has an inbox. 300 days ago, some of you messaged me and I am just now seeing those. Lol.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I have a spy fic where the two of them are just so at odds, so grieving with and over each other… okay that’s most of them. But I try not to end on angst, as it’s supposed to be the journey not the destination. (Angst is a twisting of the heart, not a place where you stay. According to me.)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Dash series has the ‘happiest’ endings. Not because life is happy, but because they figured out how to create contentment within what they’d been given/dealt in life. And in ways other versions of the Castle characters hadn’t accomplished. They did the work.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Oh definitely. A while back, I turned off comments on tumblr for about a year as I processed and healed from some targeted attacks, and I can say that I came out more certain of myself and my writing. But I was also an adult who had not been forced to weather these attacks as a vulnerable 13 y-o on social media (as so many of you are unfortunately dealing with). I was able to detach, center myself once more, and rise above because I’d grown up IRL, so to speak. I have a faith in something bigger than me which, while it doesn’t look like what it did, has sustained me and given me the confidence to know my worth even as it spurs me to be/do better.
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind? Oh definitely, lol. It’s on AO3. Usually I like to explore M/F with a third in there for kicks, as the concept of generosity and giving within the sexual relationship/experience is intriguing to me.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I objected to the term ‘stolen.’ I’ve had my fics, without my knowledge, posted elsewhere, translated without my knowledge, and changed to other fandom characters to be posted elsewhere. However! I’ve had loads of people ask me too, and I really appreciate being able to go visit them. (Stolen would indicate I somehow own these fanfictions, and I do not, as that would be a legally difficult hill to stand on. I also do not perceive collective fan art in this manner, because the world is all of ours.)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Oh there’s a co-written story that me, carto, and muppet47 started and have NEVER finished. We all know Castle has to go to jail, but we can’t write it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Writing it the first time. Correctly. As in, it comes out the way it should or ought to or how I am seeing it in the moment. I have the right rhythm, I can spell and I have the grammar skills. My first draft is fast and good enough for submission. Of course, I go back and edit, and I have to, but I’m very blessed in not ever going through anything like writer’s block.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Secondary characters. I have a tendency for tunnel vision, where all I want to do is talk about and to and for the main characters. If they have friends or family, I barely include them. I can’t manage to care that they exist. But all of us live in a complex web of relationships and community; no one is alone. My last novel, Taste of Salt, was an concentrated effort to include as many other perspectives as possible, so it was told through the POVs of the two main characters and interspersed with flashback chapters from the POVs of their friends, family, coworkers, chance encounters, medical personnel, kids, support networks… there you go.You have to do the thing that’s hard. Write it out, over and over, keep practicing.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Yeah, sometimes it becomes necessary for the character. But please keep it to a minimum (imo) as it detracts from the reader’s understanding and experience of reading. It ought to be rather easy to understand what the person is saying due to context or just the flow of the scene. If you’re writing in English, and you have a character visiting France, then obviously some of that ought to be in French, but after a while, you can indicate that the language is being used while writing it in English. I say this because most of you are fandom writers who are not writing for literary audiences; therefore, don’t ruin everyone’s fun my making it incomprehensible or inaccessible. Please.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? Don’t ask me to choose between my children! I can tell you that Dash holds a special place in my heart due to the amount of readers who said it gave them understanding of their own sensory issues or their child’s autism, etc. Spy gave me one of my greatest friends, carto, who continues to love and support me and my writing.
I won't tag anyone, because I deleted so many of these questions, but feel free to answer or share or talk with me about them!

Following on in the Adventures of PTP
Continuing on...
Quill: Right on, okay, so tell me about this "Bluey".
Thor (wearing Parker’s glasses to help him investigate as it makes him feel like he is smarter): My understanding based on Love’s explanation is that that she is a small dog-like-creature. Blue fur. Has a sibling and parents suggesting some familial structure. Speaks the earthling language of English with a notable accent.
Quill: British?
Thor: Nay, more like my own.
Quill: Ah, New Zealand.
Thor: I'm irritated by that comment and I don't know why.
Quill: You know, very recently the Guar- the guys and I, we ran into some dude named the High Evolutionary. Turned out he was responsible for making Rocket?
Thor: He made the Sweet Rabbit?
Quill: Yeah. Total dick. But his whole deal was that he made a bunch of humanoid animals. Maybe this “Bluey” person is one of them and, like Rocket, she escaped his clutches with her family?
Thor (standing dramatically): We must enquire with our friend at once. If there is a danger to Bluey then there may be a danger to others of Rocket’s ilk. Gather close, friends! We embark across the stars!
Parker: (Suddenly now fully paying attention as his Spider Sense activates) Wait! Guys! Wait! I can’t go to space again! And, also Bluey is a carto-
Stormbreaker slams through the wall causing immediate destruction. Thor catches it and the three of them are instantly whisked away via the Bifrost.

Carto
once again, I hope this is spoiler free (I did my best)
I got this in the new year and it was a lovely way to decompress post exam.
You play as a young girl (called carto) who is trying to find her grandmother's airship after falling out during a storm. During this, you explore multiple biomes with their own colour schemes and sets of characters.
As well as interacting with characters and objects, you can open up the map tab and move around pieces of the map, which causes the world to move to match.
Tumblr media
It is worth noting that this game is story based and not open world, so you may not be able to interact with objects until the appropriate time in the story.
It took me about 7.5hrs to finish the narrative, and I did not complete all side quests. I found the puzzles slowly increase in difficulty, so that I was eased in and then they slowly became challenging.
Also, i can't explain it, but the character of carto (as well as quite a few of the other characters) gives me big Autism Vibes™.
sensory experience:
The game has music, which changes as the story progresses. it is usually light and bouncy in style. There are also ambient sounds, such as the wind, depending on the environment/biome you are in. It makes a sound when characters speak (not a voice, more like the odd video game talking), when you move prices of the map around and there's footstep noises when you walk.
The ambient, music and SFX volume are all controllable separately in the settings menu, as well as the brightness and the master volume.
The overall colours change depending on the biome, but they are mostly muted colours (I didn't find any of them too bright)
As you walk around on a map piece, if the edges are visible, they move around to keep you in the middle of the screen. I find this can make me a little nauseous in some chapters where it's more noticeable.
In chapter 7, there are a few moments when the whole field of view shakes and there is rumbling heard.
emotional experience:
Overall, the game is fairly relaxed. There is not a time limit and you can't die.
It is slightly emotional, as your character is looking for their lost grandma. There are also other characters who are separated from their family members and one character mentions how it's just him and his dad since he "lost" his mum. This is a short conversation and the topic doesn't come up again.
During chapter 7, there is a scene that created mild stress for me, as the speech from the other characters and the visuals make it feel like you must act quickly.
Did I find it accessible?
easy of learning controls ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I found the controls simple to learn. On the map tab, which controls to use are displayed as there are a few to remember, and I found this incredibly helpful.
processing speed/reaction time requirements: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
None of the game requires a fast processing speed or reaction time
focus requirement: ⭐⭐⭐
I found it needed a moderate level of focus, as solving the puzzles often requires remembering things that have been said to you previously. The focus doesn't need to be maintained (no elements of the game punish the player for losing focus momentarily) however, many clues to solve the puzzles are given by characters earlier in the game, so it can be a little slower if you miss these clues (however, for some, more tricky, puzzles, there is prompting)
Also, multiple of the puzzles required visualisation.
Overall, I found carto accessible, if a little hard on days that I was tired/struggling to focus. I was able to access all parts of the game.
overall ratings
sweet scenes:🤗🤗🤗🤗quite a few
happy stims while playing: ✨✨✨✨lots
time lost that i didn't notice: ⌚⌚⌚quite a bit
bear hugs:🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻 unlimited (but only if you want them)
Amount I related to the main character: ♾️♾️♾️ not neurotypical

Tarot card & its history
What is a Tarot Card?
The Tarot is a symbolic map of consciousness that encompasses our journey through life
The tarot is a pack of playing cards, used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian tarocchini, French tarot and Austrian Königrufen, many of which are still played today. In the late 18th century, some tarot decks began to be used for divination via tarot card reading and carto Mancy leading to custom decks developed for such occult purposes.
Like the common playing cards, tarot has four suits which vary by region: French suits in Northern Europe, Latin suits in Southern Europe, and German suits in Central Europe. Each suit has 14 cards: ten pip cards numbering from one (or Ace) to ten, and four face cards (King, Queen, Knight, and Jack/Knave/Page). In addition, the tarot has a separate 21-card trump suit and a single card known as the Fool this 22-card section of the tarot deck is known as the major arcana. Depending on the game, the Fool may act as the top trump or may be played to avoid following suit. These tarot cards are still used throughout much of Europe to play conventional card games without occult associations.
Among English-speaking countries where these games are not played frequently, tarot cards are used primarily for novelty and divinatory purposes, usually using specially designed packs. Some who use tarot for carto Mancy believe that the cards have esoteric links to ancient Egypt, the Kabbalah, Indian Tantra, or the I Ching, though scholarly research has not found documented evidence of such origins or of the usage of tarot for divination before the 18th century.
Resource
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarot
The Tarot card deck consists of 78 cards, each with its own divination meaning: 22 in the Major Arcana and 56 in the Minor Arcana. The cards date back to the Renaissance, also the use of them for divination. They do, of course, share their origin with playing cards.
The Major Arcana
The Major Arcana cards are the trumps, which are unsuited. Each card represents a major force to be taken quite seriously when appearing in divination.
The Minor Arcana
The 56 Tarot cards of the Minor Arcana are divided into four suits: Wands, Pentacles (also called Coins), Cups, and Swords. Each suit has its general meaning, and each card of it brings its very own message in a divination.
Here are the four suits of the Minor Arcana, with 14 cards in each

Yanno, I have contemplated why I gain the ire of so many fuckwits on here and elsewhere. But when you get down to it, I think their consternation with the fact that I speak like I have an education is one big factor that gets to them. I’ve received more than just this lulzy ask attempting that insult me for my eloquence.
I get baseless accusations of Islamophobia tossed at me because apparently, taking issue with Islam’s violent hatred of gay people (Which especially bothers me as someone with numerous gay friends whom I love platonically) as well as its misogynistic and antisemitic elements is “racism” (Despite Islam not being a race) and “problematic”. This is despite the fact that I’m OK with Islam when its adherents practice it peacefully and I value the weight it places on such things as charity and fraternity.
I know for a fact that I’m subject to immense jealousy over my position within the Sonic Fandom, having had over 1 million hits on this blog, thousands of followers and having written for two of the most acclaimed Sonic fansites on the net, retired from one but still writing for the other.
Shame really. Maybe if the fuckwits put effort into gaining the attention they so obviously crave (For the record, any popularity/attention I got from my work is a side effect of it, not something I actively sought), they’d be more productive and perhaps happier rather than having to sink to the depths of slandering a stranger online. I saw this on SSMB from one member who was very obviously a popularity whore, visibly coveting the moderator position and apparently the “power” it brings (In reality, people who do this, seek positions like that do it because in reality, it’s no doubt going to be the only ounce of power they had or will ever have in their sad little lives) and evidently jealous of my staff/retired staff member group and the regard it brought.
And perhaps said fuckwits are the types who have very fragile minds, getting “offended” when I say something they don’t like about character/game/topic/series. Your issue with free speech and how it is expressed is not my problem. It is yours. This goes for the fuckwits who claim that I am “elitist” and a “snob” for asserting my views in the concise sometimes curt fashion that I do, which has everything to do with my frankness and nothing to do with elitism or snobbery. I think these people need to get a recap on the definition of those terms.
I think I should end on this - If you think that I’m the one with the problem in this whole BS, contemplate this;
- I’ve never libellously claimed that someone is a racist homophobe to turn people against them (Like SuperEmeralds did)
- I’ve never gone onto a campus, phone in hand, going to random strangers and showing a blog in an effort to rally hatred against a complete stranger online (Like CosmicFall did)
- I’ve never gone into some pathetic discord group and claimed that I wanted to fight a stranger (Like ShadowTheHedgehog/Carto did)
- I don’t call strangers online “bitches”, “fandom moms” (In some vain attempt to make out that someone’s age is relevant to their credibility in a fandom scene), or took the piss out of their physical appearance caused by their illness amongst MANY OTHER instances of disgusting slander (Like Windii has)
- And last but not least, I dont place mega huge importance on your skin color, political adherence (Unless you’re a fascist or a communist in which case you can fuck off), sexuality, gender identity, religion, etc in a discussion involving fandom because it isn’t really all that relevant to fandom.
There’s many more examples than those choice ones I used to show how much shit has been flung at me for existing. I just gave you a small taster and can proide screenshot evidence in support of those claims.
TL;DR - I have existed in the Sonic fandom for 26 years and the online one for over 17 years, I’ve had bollocks tossed my way, I know the perpertrators are sad/jealous/liars/awful people themselves (circle as applicable), No, I’m not going to leave this site, twitter or any other Sonic fandom space that I’m present in especially if it is to satisfy you, I am provably better than my detractors for not being a liar/coward/fetishizer/ableist/insulting someone due to their illness-caused appearance.
Phew, sorry for the essay.

Seven deadly gems part 6
Meliodas fakes a smile around everyone now. He acts happy all the time. He’s just giggling and joking like always. Heck he is even laughing with Elizabeth’s dad all the time.
Yet, at night, when everyone is happilyplanning howethers wedding or sleeping, wellhe locks himself in his room and sobs. He just sits there sobbing as memories flood back to him. Not even ones about Elizabeth’s. Yet, the pain her rejection caused is having him remember Walmart every bad thing about his past. He doesn’t even know why but he refuses to let anyone knows. Especially Elizabeth. She doesn’t need to feel guilty about rejecting him because it’s a normal part of life.
When Gowther’s wedding roles around everyone is excited. They dress up in nice cute outfits with a bit of a warm under coat since it’s gonna be snowing today plus the wedding is outside towards the end of fall. Elizabeth’s dad Is sitying with Nadja’s dad and a few others they know. They’re all sitting on logs outside. Plus there’s also also Lillie’s in flower pots around the light Eren carpet leading to the arch they’re to be married under. The arch is covered in green and red ribbon. Plus there’s also a few flowers (which are covering the arch as well) makinthe arch pop out. Especially since every flower there are Lillie’s which surpingly Gowther’s pick. Gowther’s groomsmen are Ban, Meliodas and King.
Gowther seems calm about everything honestly. Everyone else is more stressed then He is. That is until the music starts and Nadja isn’t walking down the isle. A few minutes pass and she still isn’t there. Only then does he panic. Yet, soon she comes being basically carried by her parents seeing as her legs felt weak.
Yet, her legs are hardly seen under her huge puffy dress. There’s so much fluff that o looks like she’s a huge marshmallow. Her veil is dragging behind her since it’s so long but, it’s connected to a crown. It looks like she’s a princess of sorts.
Gowther breaks down in a smile looking at his women. Nadja soon is standing her legs shaking holding his hands with a big smile. Gowther offers to have someone grab her a chair but she refuses. She stands though the entire wedding holding his hand. Yet, one of her old friends is holding her up through a lot of the ceremony.
Elizabeth sobs over the romance as the preacher spoke. During the thing Gowther and Nadja looked into each other’s eyes. Everyone thought it was sweet. Especially at the end of the wedding when they were to kiss. Gowther never took his eyes off of her and just kissed him tighter.
The entire after party is outside to with speaker in a car. And there was a few tables around to sit at. Plus there was a cake which had a light green piece of ribbon covering the cake. There was lilies everywhere and on the top was a tiny little Gowther and Nadja.
Nadja loved the cake. Gowther thought it was cute
The music starts playing in a speaker in the back of Margrets car. Margret is dancing with Gil and it looks pretty good. As for Gowther, he’s almost always dancing with Nadja. After all she used to take dance and all she ever wanted to do was dance at her wedding. Diane shape shifts to a norma size and is dancing with king a lot. Veronica is dancing with Howzer.
Meliodas walks over asking Elizabeth to dance. Elizabeth just sits there before denying his request. She knew if they danced they would fuse and well...her father would assume he’s lost her and he just couldn’t handle losing a daughter or anybody. And he was already losing Margret once she makes enough money to get out. And Veronica is going to a university in the spring. It will just be her and him. And if she randomly turned into a bigger person with someone else, he would think she somehow left him. She just can’t do it anymore. It just wasn’t fair to him.
Meliodas jus stayed happy nodding. Yet, he found it a bit harder to breath when he saw Nadja’s mom was giving him a pity look. He sat down and found it harder and harder to breath as everyone was looked over atleast once. His hands shook and heclosed his eyes world spinning when Ban went to check on him.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, Yeah I-“ just as he opens his eyes he sees it and screams. Ban looks up and sees it too.
It’s a homeworld scout ship.
Every gem starts getting all humans into their cars. Gowther hide Nadja in her parents car as the ship lands on the dance floor crushing a few rocks and a table. Elizabeth however runs out of her father’s carto find her sister. Yet, just as she leaves her sisters are in the car. Then all the humans are off as the ship’s entrance opens. Slowly out steps a jasper and a blue agate.
“My clarity, such a pitiful sight to see how the earth has ended up isn’t it Hendrickson?”
“I do agree Dreyfus...Dreyfus Who are those other gems?” The agate asks pointing at the sins. Dreyfus, the jasper, slowly head off the ship taking step after step. As he does each gem summons their weapons. Diane switches aback to her normal size.
“My word such a large off coloured gem....I’ve only ever seen one in era one before we left the earth. Yet, is it possible that these gems could be the seven deadly gems? The ones that worked for Rose Quartz?” Hendrickson asks looking st Diane.
Meliodas yells that they are. Plus some dramaticness by adding that they are going to beat them senseless and shatter them if they do not leave now. Hendrickson and Dreyfus just laugh before digging out the same light form disturber Jasper uses in the episode Jail break.
They charge at the gems. Meliodas dodged but King doesn’t. He ends up getting poofed and having his pshycical form carved into tiny pieces. Diane swarmed before kicking at the gems who attacked. Hendrickson dodges and starts climbing uphee body like a bug. She starts trying to swat him off.
Meanwhile Meliodas and Ban are fighting Dreyfus who is trying to use the weapon to poof them. Each gem is just an inch away with their attacks from lifting each other. Yet,they’re keep refusing to touch each other.
Elizabeth meanwhile is hiding behind a tree in a panic. She soon looks over and sees to her shock there’s a third gem. One she’s never seen before. All sshe can make out is that they are purple. And the gem is trying to get Kings gem.
She races out of her hiding spot and grabs king’s gem. Just as she does Jericho, a amethyst glares dangers at her before summoning her weapon and going after Elizabeth.
In the end Elizabeth climbs up a tree and grabs a stick. She starts to try and fend Jericho off with a stick as she tries to climb the tree. Surprisingly works well. Jericho falls down on the ground, impairing herself through an latge rock. Yet she refuses to poof.
As for the two other gems, wellthey abadoned her.
The seven deadly gems find her and Meliodas gets his words ready to be ran through her. She freezes up before speaking up.
“No, no wait you can’t poof me. I’m the only one who knows about the-“And with that Meliodas runs herthrough with a sword, impailing her making her poof.
She’s bubbled and sent home. The gems head home while Elizabeth is just wondering one thing. Surpsingky just one. Which is,
What did that gems know that she wasn’t telling them?

Yugoslavian map of a near-collapsing US during the Cold War.
shirt_mask:
“While on vacation in Dubrovnik, Croatia this summer, we ran across an old Yugoslav atlas which included this map on the entry for the US. My Serbo-Croatian isn’t so good so I don’t know the true details as to what it’s about, but it appears to be plans for a Russian invasion,” says Andrew, who sent in this map.
“Submarines labelled SSSR are on both coasts. The apparent flight paths of ICBMs are marked. Cuba’s soldiers and bases are indicated (…) If you can figure out more precisely what’s going on I’d certainly be curious, and I imagine that other readers would get a kick out of it.”
My Serbo-Croatian isn’t very good either, but the map does seem to speak the language of the Cold War. Guessing the exact year is complicated as national borders in the Americas have remained stable in the last few decades, unlike in other parts of the world, where they allow easier carto-dating.
A look at the actual legend of the map does allow for some closer dating. Item #3 (the red vertical stripes) indicates the pro-soviet regimes in the hemisphere – Cuba and Nicaragua. The inclusion of that second country limits the timeframe of the map to 1979-1990, the era when the Sandinistas were in control of Nicaragua.
Although the Soviet navy has got the North American continent completely surrounded, in my opinion, the map does not demonstrate a Soviet plan of attack, but restates the Communist ideological orthodoxy of the US as an aggressive, unstable monstrosity at near-collapse – a remarkable example of the pot calling the kettle black.
• Whereas blue indicates the US itself (Sjedinjene Americke Drzave, acronym SAD – but that is a coincidence, I presume), yellow indicates ’separatist’ forces at work in the North American continent, such as Quebec (although that is a Canadian, not a US issue) and Black Muslims (around Chicago) and Mexican-Americans (in Texas). Again, a pretty remarkable comment, coming from a Yugoslav atlas.
• Item #5 on the legend indicates, I think, ‘disputed’ marine boundaries, mainly between Canada and the US, thus misrepresenting the mainly friendly relations between those two countries – the disputes might be real, but their significance is relatively minor.
