Gaudi's designs and what they refer to?
Gaudi was inspired by the nature, he liked his artworks to remind of it's creations.
He was truly innovative for not basing his style only the past decades like most architects do, but mostly something that was around all this time, invariant.
So for example the exterior design of the Sagrada Familia imitates an antrace to a cave.
the insides of Sagrada Familia remind me of a forest as the columns imitate trees holding the roof as the trees hold their crowns above our heads.
And finally, the roof of Casa Batlló, similar to a snake's skin or a fish skin.
