I am actually a big fan of mystery, thriller and psychological anime ( also horror) .

I have watched - Death note, Bungo stray dogs, Durarara, Psychic detective Yakumo, Holmes of Kyoto, Moriarty the patriot, Detective tantei q, Ghost hunt, Another , Gosick, Hyouka .

But , Now I can't find any good ones . Do you have any recommendations for me?

Mystery: ERASED, K, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Odd Taxi, Girls' Last Tour, Case File nº221: Kabukicho, Made in Abyss. 

Thriller: Zankyou no Terror, Zetsuen no Tempest, High-Rise Invasion, Vivy, Tokyo Ghoul.

Psychological: Kakegurui, Hell Girl, The Future Diary, Death Parade, Parasyte, Inuyashiki, Tomodachi Game.

Horror: Mieruko-chan, Ajin, Shiki, Gleipnir, Elfen Lied, Deadman Wonderland, Dorohedoro.

I tried to best chunk them; however, some, like Gleipnir the horror mystery anime, were categorized by whatever wasn’t mystery. The mysteries are only really mysteries. A lot of this overlaps, but I had fun creating it. Hit me up with how it goes! I’m excited to see your progress. I went ahead and bolded some of my personal favorites.

Case File nº221: Kabukicho

Just watched "Case File nº221: Kabukicho " also known as Kabukicho Sherlock. It is a very new take on the Holmes characters we know. (Won't spoil - you will be amazed to see Mrs. H and Sherlock's hobby ) . I didn't expect it to be this good. And perhaps the best Reichenbach ever. So much soul in it also with an almost Johnlock kissing trope (almost) 🤩 They are amazing. I initially complained about Sherlock's look but the characterisation is fantastic ❤️😭 . What I am trying to say that it has only one season with 24 episodes , it is weird but beautiful just like you - so watch it 🤩 .

Anime Spotlight - Kabukichou Sherlock: Case File nº221: Kabukicho

This was a fun detective series with a twist on the Sherlock formula, not groundbreaking or as intense or clever as other detective shows but still enjoyed it.

The plot  is in Shinjuku ward's east side lies Kabukichou, a vibrant city of chaos that glows brilliantly with neon lights but also hides unseen darkness. Employed at a university hospital on the west side, John H. Watson is looking for someone who can assist him with an odd case. His search leads him to the Pipe Cat, an underground bar that serves as a meetup venue and job board for some of the best detectives in Shinjuku, the most prominent among them being Sherlock Holmes. Upon finding the bar and meeting the peculiar investigators, John learns that they are pursuing a case involving Jack the Ripper, an infamous serial killer. Due to subsequent events, John ends up driving Sherlock to the crime scene of a murder supposedly carried out by Jack the Ripper. Even though John is only there to enlist Sherlock's help with his case, he witnesses Sherlock brilliantly uncover the truth behind the crime scene. However, he begins to realize that Sherlock is not only a genius detective but also an eccentric character. As John continues to request Sherlock to assist him with his case, he finds himself spiraling into the detective lifestyle of solving cases beyond the minds of ordinary civilians. Through this work, John begins to see the true colors of the chaotic city that is Kabukichou and starts to unravel the unsettling mystery behind his own case.

Sherlock was more eccentric in this than Ive seen in any other versions but I really liked the added Rakago element. I wanted Watson to be a bit more competent and less comic relief but he was still good for Sherlock’s development. Really liked Moriarty and how his story developed and there are a host of colourful characters. Is a very fun and not to over complicated series. The cases are interesting especially the over arching ones and everyone is likeable so happy to follow their adventures.

I think it could have been a bit shorter to tighten up the good bits but overall its simple fun. There are definitely more intense and clever detective shows but the murder mystery story line had my attention and the Sherlock/Moriarty dynamic made the story more intriguing.

Fun and a bit different.

would you say that Kabukicho Sherlock is underated?

Yeah, I would say that. It's not a masterpiece, but it definitely deserves more attention. It's weird, it's funny, it has interesting mystery and it has the best Mrs. Hudson.

Sadly, it happens to the most ongoings. They're airing for a month and then people forget it quickly. :c

All in all, I wish people talked more about Kabukichou Sherlock.

(And this anime is definitely not for kids and sensitive people)
