cas is too brainwashed, too stripped apart to connect with jimmy the way he's supposed to. the way an angel is supposed to love their vessel. jimmy internalizes the idea of cas as cold and unfeeling. as someone who doesn't care about him. as cas recovers the broken pieces of himself, jimmy gets more and more frustrated with their situation. cas is becoming the person he is meant to be, but at the expense of jimmy's life. and then cas breaks his promise. and any chance they had of healing their relationship is broken. cas realizes far too late what he missed out on, what he wasn't capable of doing for jimmy. and then he loses him.
