Since I'm seeing a lot of people on twitter doing gbf x sanrio collab fanart but saw nobody doing Cassius and Tuxedosam art I decided to do a quick sketch myself

"The biggest gacha game glutton doesn't exi-"

I am still very new when it comes to granblue fantasy, and as of right now I do not know all that much about the series, and I still won't know that much given that its a pretty old game that I can't access, and haven't head of any recent updates as far as I know. So because of that among other things, I hadn't really known about Cassius or his event story. (Correction: the game is still active and getting updates, just not as much on Cassius)

It wasn't until I was scrolling through some tumblr blogs (which @askbloatedbellyblog thanks for sharing the post that sent me down a spiral) and once I discovered about Cassius and his event story I was hooked! Not only is it one of the only visual novel/gacha games that I have seen so far that actually has visuals of the actual weight gain itself, but its also not done as a one time gag either and we get prolonged scenes of Cassius' overweight state. The story itself is also so good in my opinion! Although the actual content itself my not cater to everyone and their desires, for me, I think the story is one of the best!! It fulfills all of my stuffing fantasies and desires, watching him endlessly devour and gorge on everything that is around him, and finding enjoyment in doing such as well!

No joke, I was so invested in this character and his event story that for a good portion of time that was all I could think about! I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a bit of a mini hyperfixation for me.

To know more about my research on Cassius himself and his gluttonous pursuits, he is fairly new to the setting as he came from another world, and is leaning to discover both this new world, and how everything works. Along with such he applies ration and logic to everything with very little emotions, isn't surprised by much, thinks very literal mindedly, and comes across as childish and naïve.

His other most notable feature is his HUMONGOUS apatite, and how he is able to eat much more than the average person. He has a very high metabolism so he is able to eat in mass quantities without risking his heath or gaining weight. However, during the Ramen Travels event, he manages to eat so much and in such crazy amounts that not even his metabolism could keep up with him, leading to his eventual weight gain.

Although his original purpose was to try out various ramen noodles, his pursuits evolve into eating everything that he can as much as he can. To give a bit of a perspective how much he actually eats during this event, he hits up multiple desert stalls, wins a food eating contest, tries various kinds of ramen, eats entire menus in restaurants including the main courses, drinks, and deserts, eats whole dishes made to serve a family of six in one sitting, and repeats that behavior consistently every day for weeks on end.

Another part of his endless gluttony is also how Cassius also took the term "There is always room for desert" too literally and came to the belief that no matter how much he eats, there will never be enough food for him to eat, and that there will always be room in his stomach to eat and try more foods.

When it came to his eventual weight gain, although the people around him are concerned about his overall heath encouraging him to lose the weight, Cassius himself doesn't mind the weight gain at all and if anything he actually enjoys it, believing that the feeling itself is satisfying, and that the more weight he puts on the more room he will have for food.

This is a man where if he is not calculating and questioning the things around him, the only other thing that is on his mind is food, and although it may make him seem one note, I find this aspect of him to be a really charming trait of him, especially these are traits that he fully embraces, and not even afraid of gaining weight, which is an unusual trait in other foodie characters.

It honestly saddens me to discover that Cassius barely gets any recognition in general, especially compared to the other characters that I enjoy, and now because he hasn't had that much new content in a long while, he has only barely had any new posts and content made on him in years, so I thought if there was anyone who could bring this wonderful character back in the spotlight, even for just a brief moment, I might as well do so.

while on my gbf kick i realized i hadnt posted pics of my artbook (Extra Works VI)! Extra pics under the cut + some thoughts

pic 1: Lots of pics from GBFes 2019! I wish they would release the art made for gbfes digitally, there’s a lot of cute, fun, and experimental stuff here that would be good for icons and edits.

Also there was a picture of grimmy in his cooking attire from grand blues!, and I tried to clean it up the best I could since he’s my son. The text reads “CHESTNUUUUT Rice!” (the joke being that “GRIIII” sounds similar to “KURIIII”, the japanese word for chestnut)

Image 3: I liked the different experimental paneling they tried out for korwa’s uncap art! I find this kind of stylistic choice very fun (I enjoy lunalu’s manga-type paneling uncap arts too)

Image 4: I especially liked the concept with cassius’ face being reflected in the ramune bottle, but I get why they didn’t use it. I do wish the actual uncap art was at night, though, with the contrast being more vibrant and having a more dreamy vibe.

Image 5: Grimmy!!! Honestly, I love all these concepts and their chuunibyou goodness. I do kind of wish they went with the bottom two, since they incorporate his lance better (Bottom right below since it’s out of focus)

Image 6: I just think the blue color looks cuter with a more sailor boy aesthetic, especially with the non-hood alt. There’s a boyish charm to it ww

Image 8: There was a lot of ladiva in this, which I didn’t expect but absolutely enjoyed! I loved the different layouts they tried, and each has their own charm! The first one has this teddybear ladiva, which is absolutely criminal that it didnt make into the final cut.

They also had these lines for ladiva’s sprites in her battle, which make me want to get the gbvs artbooks to see the attention to detail they put into the animations there

Image 9: There were a lot of front-back references for various outfits, which I didn’t expect. There were also a lot of concepts for vikala, first various ideas and then two pages of them messing with colors and bits for a more finalized one

The concept artwork for the chaos and promise albums was also included. I like the top artwork’s use of white (or I guess black) space and contrast, but I guess it wouldn’t make for an interesting back cover. I do think it would have been nice to reuse it for that belial ps4 skin that also was monochromatic. Speaking of belial...

Here’s an alternate concept for his adjutant outfit, with a slightly more armored look. the calf-high boots are quite nice!

All in all, I think this book is a good pick for:

WMTSB III concept art (Not a lot of deviations from the finalized stuff, but there’s a lot of it. Also quite a bit of maydays there)

According to the granblues rule Galleon could be a candidate too, and since Fediel got a summer unit....🥺 I wonder if people in the next granblues also count as new candidates

i did think of that possibility too, and while i'm not opposed to dragons alts in principle i kinda hope not :sob: like it still feels wrong to me that the skin rotation didn't even finish and we're getting alts instead

but yeah Grand Blues are usually a good indicator of possible new units, they tend to tease them ahead, so Galleon might be one of them. And now that i'm looking through the new Grand Blues it explains why the previous anon theorized Ippatsu and Silva, going with this logic they are strong contender. And Galleon is as well, as said.

Beatrix also makes a surprise appearance in the last one, so maybe she can come and join Zeta/Vaseraga/Eustace there (and it's been a while since she had a new unit compared to the rest of the gang)

EDIT: I TOTALLY forgot Bea had a Halloween SR though so maybe not???

So yeah keeping an eye out to the Grand Blues for clues, so far strong possibilities in Ippatsu, Silva, Galleon, and Beatrix imo. Let's see how granblue surprises us.

From most, it might sound normal. However, when it happens to be a certain Moondweller who constantly speaks with a nigh robotic drone and he's slamming his hand right beside Beatrix's head; It sounds remarkably like a threat, and will most certainly give any passerby the wrong idea should they see Cassius towering over the former Society agent.

"This is a holiday in which I am meant to return your gift from approximately 30 days prior as per annual Fossildweller tradition. I cannot correctly perform this ritual when you fail to flee on sight at every attempt. Stop resisting."

At the very least, his intentions are good? And the white chocolate filled molten lava cake will surely be delicious given the precision he used when baking it. It's just that, well--Beatrix needs to actually accept the White Day gift is all.

The embarrassingly loud yelp that left the brunette's lips from the sudden slam caused a few heads to peek out from doorways or stop their actions. Much like watching red food coloring mix into the white frosting, Beatrix's face went through different shades of pink until it bloomed red.

She wasn't avoiding him all day! No way! There's totally a different reason for why she was making up reasons and not stopping as he called for her multiple times!!

Hearing him recount the reason for White Day, her chest was thumping so loud in her head she just stared at him. That's with the thoughts running through her mind in tandem.

"I-I'm not!"

C-C'mon! Get it together, Bea! Deep breaths! People are staring y'know! Oh, but why did he-- OK, that's my fault but he didn't have to slam the wall so hard!

She couldn't keep him hanging. He's looking at her so expectedly. There was no way out of this one, and she knew that the moment he moved in front of her to cut her off. Not fully caged by his arms, his body made sure to tell her that he was done chasing her around while holding the box. That's all that she needed.

Swallowing the lump in her throat she looks down at the box in his hands. Once she had calmed down, her hands reach out to receive it. Finally. If it was someone else, she would've asked if this was a prank. But with Cassius? He hasn't given her a present or gifted her anything that could be considered one.

"--Thank you, Cassius."

At least none of the others were around to see this. At least, she thinks so.
