This painting is quite small (smaller than A5 I believe) with miniature details, which you see enhanced here. I used tiny brushes to make it and applied the paint in many thin layers. I would have wished to show you the physical piece. Unlike big paintings, you need to hold this close to you and get closer and closer to see each detail. I love that.
I am immensely captivated by early Renaissance landscape art. How they paint each tree and rock, the bizarre architecture, the blue mountains far away, the silence and magic… It just feels like somewhere I know and very real. This is a painting that come about because of those feelings.
Sadly I still lack a name for it. Well, maybe...

things i associate you with - i think we're from the same town? my family moved away in 2001, so i don't have any connections any more, but it's just nice to find someone from tumblr who might also be from there! i basically grew up in the palace gardens, we had an annual pass - is there anything you like about them? (based, of course, on the assumption that I'm right. if you don't know wtf I'm talking about, well... i love your guys, and i think your coloring is really good, actually! i love seeing your more polychromatic pieces :3 )
I haven't renewed my annual pass for the castle garden yet this year (it expired at the end of March) because the weather is just too bad right now. But it should soon be warm enough again that the garden is the perfect jogging track. I've always had an annual pass like that, too. It's really worth it!
He's the one I love the most in the gardens. it's such a serene place with the water trickling down the moss and Pan on top.
In recent years, the garden has become an Instagram wedding photo location, so that on weekends you have to navigate around five or six wedding parties wandering through it at the same time, just posing somewhere. The mosque and its courtyard are particularly popular.
I'm also pleased that you like my pictures - I have a hard time being satisfied with the coloured ones. Maybe one day I'll find the colouring method that finally makes me happy.

“I looked up, catching glimpses of the slowly setting sun - comfort and melancholy arose in my mind - and felt the old spirit of the castle’s garden embracing me with its floral scented air…”

Alicia Zharis in Mina and Damien's rose garden
This scene has been on my mind for a long time - and between my phone notes. So.
Lia (Alicia) is a necromancer who is not much welcome if her trade is discovered, buuut she has good friends. And in her free time in the castle she ventures into the garden to read some.
I thought she would go somewhere secluded, so even though the rose garden is mostly always deserted - only Mina goes there with her kid sometimes -, she goes behind the bushes at one end of this labyrinth, among white roses because I think white roses fit her, if I had to pick a rose. They just have a serenity and fit her colour scheme.
