out of curiosity what sort of devil did Korvosa's best girl end up becoming. Also what are your thoughts on the speculation that Illeosa could end up becoming a vampire after her bid for Sorshen's brand of mythic "red bull"?

Vampire Ileosa makes a lot of sense, given the whole Countess Bathory vibe the whole Curse of the Crimson Throne had. That would also be an excellent way to bring Ileosa back in a continuity where she really did die. Good vampires never really die, and that could posit Ileosa in Scarwall as a sort of Dracula in Castlevania feel. Or, for that matter, a Ravenloft feel. That might even be a take that Paizo themselves do in a few years; they're bringing back Runelords right now, after all. And they do love gothic horror tropes and action/fantasy mashups of the same.

Now, as for what Ilesoa is in my continuity? That's a secret. But I'll give you a hint. The devil that Ileosa is is one of the devils in the Codex.

In addition to Mario RPG, I have ALSO been playing another one of the all-time great games: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

I always liked how the game did this little bit, like Alucard telling Maria "Yeah, I know a Belmont but you're gonna have to back up a few consoles, sweetheart"...

Had a good look over Beneath a Cursed Moon, a PbtA game inspired by Castlevania and Bloodborne. Looks really well done! While I'm more or less running it in Cortex, I definitely hope to revisit this.

I cannot get over how good video game adaptations have become.

Even lesser recognized projects have greatly improved; Dragon Age: Absolution, for example, in spite of its minor flaws, is captivating and exciting.

Huge step up from movies like Doom and the live action Mario Bros movie(s).

For me, the real turning point was Warcraft. I personally liked the movie, though I wouldn't say it was particularly "good." It was a fun watch, and more importantly, it showed that improvement was not just possible, but imminent.

Then came the Castlevania series and the Sonic movie, and it was practically official: video game adaptations were finally getting good.

Now we have amazing projects like Arcane and The Last Of Us that aren't just good enough to pass as good video game adaptations – that aren't just good enough to keep up with mainstream works – but are flat-out masterpieces.

However, this progress has one major downside that I think is well represented by the upcoming animated Mario movie: Hollywoodification. Now that video game adaptations are becoming more mainstream – and therefore no longer geek-culture – mainstream habits are going to start popping up in them more, such as casting an actor for their name instead of how well they fit the part.

We just need to be prepared for the potential eventuality that certain beloved IPs - Elder Scrolls, Doom, Mario, and the like - will be oversaturated with Hollywood-esque characteristics that aren't true to the spirit of the source material.

Just remember one thing: protect and support indie titles, creators, works, and artists. Indie games will always belong to nerd and geek culture. Even the ones that seem to become so popular that they leak into the realm of mainstream media, like Undertale and Cuphead, deserve our love and support.

Support people. Not industries. Not corporations. People.
