Cartoonists have to spend extended periods of time in one room focused on one thing… and that’s a skill cats have to spare, especially if the thing they’re focusing on is sleeping.
So it ends up that there are a lot of comics about cats... and cartoonists with cats... and I never met a cliche I didn't immediately adopt so you better believe I’m one of ‘em.
For the next few weeks I’ll be posting a run of comics featuring my cat Chewie, who died this weekend. Chewie lived a GREAT life for a cat (from the alleyways of Brooklyn to the lap of luxury in Southwest Ohio) so think of these strips less as a memorial and more as a final victory lap for the old boy.
This week’s run was drawn and takes place in Brooklyn, 2005 and it’s Chewie’s origin story. Chewie Begins.
