Heartwarming story time
My dad's cat was abused and kicked out of her old home before being rescued by a shelter then adopted by him. She's utterly obsessed with him and at any time of the day she's either asleep or near him.
Well my dad retired earlier this year and went on holiday to just relax by himself for a whole week for the first time in who even knows how many years. While he was away, he took his cat back to the shelter he adopted her from to be looked after.
He had a lovely week, spending most of it reading or in the hotel pool. Then he went back home and picked his cat up from the shelter.
Cats rarely have readable facial expressions that look anything like human emotions but apparently the look on her face when she saw him was one of pure frantic relief and adoration.
The poor little princess who - may I remind you - was abused and kicked out of her home by her previous family, thought that dad had given her back to the shelter forever and was never coming back for her.
He swears to me up and down that he's never going on holiday again because he can't bear to see her so desperately upset ever again.

⬆️ The princess in question (River Song (yes my dad is a Doctor Who fan and somehow thought he was being original with that name))

I have the world's most spoiled cat. This is not up for debate 😅. She has three bowls, one is filled with her favorite kibble, one fresh water I changed out this morning, and the third was where I had her freshly shredded chicken with broth that I warmed up and made for her breakfast 😋 😁.
Two hours or so after eating her breakfast, she's pacing everywhere, getting confused, crying and starring at her bowls.
My cat is 19, she's blind, she does get a bit confused sometimes. She needs a little guidance. But even I couldn't figure out what she wanted.
It took me 45 minutes of going back and forth with her screaming bloody murder at the top of her lungs at 3AM to figure out that her bowl of chicken was out of broth. What she wanted was more warmed chicken broth.
She had water, kibble, moist chicken. Yet she wanted more broth so she was going to try and burst my ear drums. 😅
The second I made it and put it on her tray, she was a happy 😊 kitty. She drank ALL of it up and then went to hide in her favorite cubby in the closet to curl up and sleep now that she has a full warm belly of broth 🤣.

i’ve just had the worst ten minutes and also the best 5 minutes one after another.
worst ten minutes: some dude came to work on our dryer and left our door open. guess what. i have a cat. i spent 10 ish minutes crying uncontrollably bc i thought my cat who is scared of everything ran away. mind you, into the streets not our backyard. worst case scenario.
best 5 minutes: turns out she was under our couch. i proceeded to cry more and feed her treats. god i fucking love her.

Reason 9137 why I hate Elon Musk:
I have a 12 year old cat named Tesla, after Nikola Tesla, and I always have to put out a disclaimer wherever I talk about him online because dumbasses think Muskrat made up the name on his own and it only relates to him.
Anyway, Tesla trapped himself in the bathroom this morning because he was mad that I didn't pour water on him while he was in the tub.

Hi there! I hate to be a bother to you, but I wanted to share a kitty success story I think you might enjoy!
I rescued a cat from a not so great household a few years ago, and I still remember the day I got her home she was just so scared. The poor thing was covered in fleas and bruises and all fluffed up in her carrier on the ride home. One of the main things I noticed when I got her home was that she was incredibly shy about food. She would startle if any loud noises occured while she was eating her kibble, and she would refuse treats and actively avoid human food even when bites of it were offered to her (never at the dinner table, because that sets bad habits, but as treats later in the day). It became obvious that food was one of her big triggers, and so I made it my personal mission to make her comfortable knowing that I would never hurt her even if she did act up and steal things. My first order of business was to offer her some treats beside her kibble, alternating them to see what she liked and disliked (apparently she has an affinity for seafood and turns her nose up at steak) and then leaving the room while she ate. That seemed to do the trick, and gradually she became more accepting of treats offered to her, even willing to eat with me present and eventually directly from my hand. Needless to say her palate has expanded greatly over the years she's been with me, and while she still sometimes has reservations about eating treats with me watching, she's become a lot more bold. No more is the skittish kitty who freezes at loud noises and slinks around the house, for now I often find her hanging out on the couch (a place she previously avoided like the plague) and sticking her face in bowls of greek yogurt left unattended for too long. I honestly can't bring myself to be cross with her for the latter action, though, because it's proof of just how far she's come in terms of trusting people and showing her colourful personality. Plus, for my efforts I've learned that she's quite the cuddle bug! She insists on sleeping in my bed every night, or at the very least on one of her other perches in my room if I'm moving too much in my sleep. She may be a bit of a troublemaker now, but I'd rather have a prissy kitty than a scardey cat.
Here's some photos of the little lady herself! Lumi!
Tumblr media
This one was taken right after she stole $2 from my wallet. She looks so pleased with herself, for a cat who has no use for money. It was a good photo op, though! (even if the background is messy because I was rearranging)
Tumblr media
This photo was taken about a week after she came home! She still looks a little skittish here, but the fact that she's willing to sit on the console stand to smell the flowers speaks volumes about her progress. She really likes flowers, so whenever I get them I make sure to out then where she can reach. (She's not in any danger of poisoning, because she has no interest in eating them. She just likes sniffing 'em)
Tumblr media
Here she is hanging out in her second favourite place in the house; my bed! She prefers sitting on pillows, so she has a side of the bed all to herself. This time she decided my pillow was more comfy, though.
I have a million more photos of her to share, but I'll avoid making this ask too long. Sorry if I'm rambling, by the way! I have a fever at the moment so I'm kind of incoherent, but I just really need to tell people about my cat-
I just gotta say (mostly to cover my own ass) keep in mind cats can still get sick from the pollen of certain flowers, so they're still dangerous even if the cat's not prone to eating them. Great story! I'm happy you were able to have so much progress!

I know I don’t really post anything outside of short stories, but this is a story in itself and it’d be a crime not to share it.
A month ago, a small black kitten ventured onto our yard. For context, we live on roughly five and a half acres. My sister spots this tiny furball first and tells me. At first, I didn’t believe her, but then I remembered one of our current cats wondered onto our property and promptly stayed with us ever since. I was still skeptical.
Until I saw said little guy a week later while we were roller skating. Now, this little guy only comes out once it gets dark, so my sister and I made it our mission to get it to trust us so we can keep this little guy forever.
We come up with a name for the tiny guy, Sirius, and keep giving it cat food in the dark spots of our yard because little Sirius is scared of eating where he knows he’ll be seen. My sister and I are also convinced this little guy is indeed a guy.
When I call Sirius a tiny guy, I mean that he is the size of a 3-4 month old kitten. He’s just a little baby. A baby my sister and I have sworn to protect with our entire lives because he’s been through so much if he’s super terrified of people.
I personally don’t blame little Sirius.
Last night, little Sirius shows up again, but this time he’s waiting for us closer than he usually does.
Progress people.
I have to quickly go back inside and deep down I’m hoping he doesn’t think we’re not going to feed him and run off into the night, but when I come back, he’s inched himself closer.
I’m very careful and quiet when I approach Sirius because I don’t want to frighten him, so I make my way closer to where he’s sitting and he just stays still. He lets me get around 4 feet from him until he darts a couple feet ahead of me. He usually runs at the mere sight of us, but last night he actually let me approach him at a distance and I’m honored to be chosen by tiny Sirius.
He also let me get close to him when I set a bowl of food down for him.
SO MUCH PROGRESS
I’m so proud of our tiny guy who may not be a guy, but convinced he’s a little guy.
Watch my sister and I win this little guys heart because we will.
We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.

It’s kinda funny in hindsight and will probably make me sound weird even if I try to give context, but one of the saddest memories I can never forget from when I was a kid was when I opened a Christmas present at an extended family Christmas party one year and, technically speaking, got exactly what I asked for.
I’m just gonna put a readmore here bc it’s kinda long even if I personally think it’s both a funny story and a sad memory
I have two older sisters (and a younger brother who isn’t relevant to this) and when we were kids they each hard their own thing. My oldest sister was obsessed with horses and had horse-themed of everything a kid could have, my second oldest sister had the same thing with dogs, and at the time I was obsessed with cats to the same degree. One year for St. Nick’s day (my very-catholic family celebrated it) my oldest sister got a calendar with horses on it and my second oldest sister got a calendar with dogs on it. I didn’t get a cat calendar and probably got exactly whatever my little brother also got. So, because I wanted to be like my sisters, I asked my mom to tell Santa to get me a cat calendar for Christmas, she then asked my godfather-and-uncle to get it for me as my Christmas present.
On the day of the extended family Christmas party when it was time to open presents my uncle handed me a rectangular present about the shape and size of what a wall calendar would be. I was really excited and when it was finally my turn to open the present I tore it open and my heart sunk.
You see, at the time, my uncle worked for a massive construction vehicle company, and when he was told to buy a “cat calendar” for his nephew’s Christmas present, he made an understandable misunderstanding.
My parents had already taught me that I had to pretend to be thankful, even if I didn’t get what I wanted, but even then I could hardly manage a smile, because I opened up my “cat calendar” and I was faced with a picture of one of these
Tumblr media
Again, it’s a very funny miscommunication in hindsight, but at the time I was devastated. I legitimately consider it to be one of the first experiences where I realized that I was being treated differently from how I wanted to be solely because I was a boy, and boys clearly only want trucks and other manly things.
I didn’t cry at the Christmas party, but even now when I think about it I can clearly feel just how sad it made me. Even just writing this now is making me cry for the poor little girl who was given manly things when she asked for cats, because I know that things would stay that way for her for many more years

The cat tax!
Her name is Freya, born in the shelter may 23' (a taurus for a fact ♉️) and adopted in august 23'.
She is very talkative and this is how she looked like back then when we adopted her. She did a home inspection first, as a responsible kitten would!

Thank you goddess Freyja, for my cat Stella.
This morning I found and quickly lost sight of a huge roach in my room. I tore apart my bedroom looking for it so I could kill it. Then later today my mom found it dying on the coffee table and my cat Stella was the one who killed it. She’s my SUPERHERO!!! She tormented it too, you know, as cats always do. And I’m so proud of her. I wasn’t going to sleep in my bedroom cause of that roach being missing but she found it and killed it and gave me that closure!
Goodest Girl!

I talk to my kitties 😸 all the time, all day & night. My girl Taffy gives the best advice. We comfort each other. She's my mini orange furry therapist 💕
I think the fact that I feed her boujee food and treats is the only reason she puts up with me 😅. I love my baby girl 💜

Story time
So my whole life I’ve been very *~*blessed*~* by the cat distribution system and as a result have had many feline friends.
A couple years ago we moved into a house with a neighbor who likes to feed strays. Animal control will not help, so there are now like 30 cats surrounding my yard at all times. They pee on everything but they are very cute, we feed them, we love them, very good, all is well.
At this point, I figure I have maxed out the cat distribution system. There are simply no more aloof allies left to assign me. Quite frankly it wouldn’t be fair to the rest of humanity.
Oh, how right I was. But there was a twist I didn’t see coming! Evidently, once you graduate from cats, the universe enrolls you in a wayward child distribution system.
Every summer since we have lived here, we seem to get one or two kids that like… hang around. It usually starts when they ask to mow the lawn for cash, or their parent stops by to borrow a tool. Before we know it, they’re bicycling over to ask for food because their cupboards are empty, or asking for water because their parents won’t be home for hours and they’ve been outside all day.
We always make time for them and give them everything we can to keep them safe and fed for the time they stick around. And you know I just realized while I was writing this out… it’s really not all that different from cats.

ClanGen Advent Challenge - Day 1 -Challenge made by Meltedcandles on the ClanGen Discord-
Tumblr media
On the first day of snowfall, Leader Yulestar gathered Advent Clan into the meeting den. Twenty-five cats huddled together, frost still on the fringes of their fur as they quieted to hear their Leader speak. "A new tradition starts today," The leader began, the tip of her fluffy gray tail twitching in excitement. "A vision of a young tree came to me last night. It needs help to get through Leaf-Bare and help our forest territory remain strong. I want each of you to find a young tree of your own and leave gifts of herbs at the base of its trunk. May our gifts keep our territory strong come spring!" ~~~ Advent Clan Leader: Yulestar Physical: long fur, gray speckled pelt; green eyes Traits: adventurous, masterful storyteller Yulestar began Advent Clan as a young adult she-cat. She is very hopeful and cheerful and always looking for new ways to unite the cats around her, especially through story-telling and traditions. ~~~ Art made by @smackasp5 who is wonderful and kind and talented and lovely <3

The home human came back from a week of being away, and the taller human can finally sleep at night without being woken up multiple times by a meowing Tommy the Cat in the face.
Why this occurred is undetermined.
It was posited that Tommy the Cat missed the home human, to which Tommy the Cat growled in disagreement and requested that the home human put him back down on the ground.
Pictured: the perpetrator of the sleep-deprivation schemes, 'innocently' sitting on the foot of the taller human's bed and looking out the window.

So I had a really bad migraine today and I called off work which really sucks but what was funny when I was suffering immensely was my cat just... Nonchalantly walking across my face when I was laying down with a cold rag across it. No fucks given, just "Hey, mom, just gonna step on your forehead a couple times hope you don't mind!" (still prefer they/he/it just also prefer being her mom over her dad 💛)
