Coworker reminded me of the episode of Community where the Dean is texting "Jeff" back and forth but in reality it's actually just two teens fucking around and the dean brings Jeff so many jars of olives because he thinks he wants them 😂
Was this Basic Crisis Room Decorum?

i find dennis' toxic love for the gang sooo interesting. the lengths he goes through to ensure that their group dynamic never changes. the amount of planning he puts in implies that this is one of his fears– how they might one day change and abandon him.
an example of this would be in "frank retires" where he had formed the franquito plan seven years before he needed to use it, which felt devious (towards frank) to charlie, dee and mac, but dennis had justified it by saying he just didn't want them to change. the ending had dennis acting like he didn't mean a word he said, but i doubt it, because just a few episodes before (the gang misses the boat) he concluded that he just wanted things to stay normal in the gang after a minor freakout about how they're all gradually getting more and more insane staying in the bar together.
dennis resisting change is a consistent theme for his character. he does not want the gang to live in virtual realities, charlie to get smart, mac and dee to leave, mac's mom to stay with them, mac to connect with his dad, dee to actually be successful, mac to be so forward in his advances, frank to retire, etc etc. because he already likes the gang so much the way it is.
that is, unless he personally seeks the change. he could get married in a day, because he wanted to. he could kick mac out. he could leave the gang and start a family. he could change his car to a more modern one. but each time he tries to change and leave, he comes back to the gang... and his range rover.
and this is why he seems to hate them too, because most of his hatred comes from his resentment from loving them too much and being unable to leave. and the love he has for them is toxic, because he wants to drag them down together with him. the s13 narrative wants us to know that he's the main reason the gang stays the same for 16 seasons.
it's what makes dennis takes a mental health day so notable to me though. the commentary on systems throughout the episode, and how dennis is sick of it. dennis' rejection of technology when it takes away real life interactions, parallels the episode "charlie rules the world" in s6 which was the major turning point for dennis developing a god complex (where british dennis tells him that 'you create your own reality'). i believe dtamhd will also be a turning point for dennis, perhaps where he starts letting things go without putting as much control (systems) because he wants to live in a reality where he doesn't need to do these things anymore.

rating: m pairing: max/nev
Max regrets the first time he kisses Nev Schulman. He regrets the fingers that scramble for purchase against Nev’s still too small frame. He regrets it most while his hands now search for the folds of Nev’s shirt to pull them together in a darkened hotel room. If he hadn’t kissed Nev back as early morning sleet stung his skin, he wouldn’t be here, ten years later, begging for Nev’s body to slam into Max’s orbit and stick there.
gratuitously ten years late to a fandom as always

my favorite thing about the first couple seasons of catfish, is that nev and max always act like its their first time handling a catfish

Here’s the MTV schedule for Monday, July 17 to Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Okay, first off, Ridiculoussness airs a lot. That is expected, but everyone thinks the network is just Ridiculousness, but it's not. This week, Catfish airs more during daytime than Ridiculousness airs during the daytime.
The entirety of Tuesday is mostly Catfish, but new Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta during the night, followed by Caught in the Act. Showtime show The Chi airs following it, which makes me wonder why Paramount did not air Shameless on one of their networks when it aired new episodes.
Now, let me get into my biggest tangent: Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. I have to see "Bum bum bum bum bum bum" and that cringe dance every day on Comedy Central when I watch South Park. They are advertising it like it's the newest hot thing. Even though Teen Mom fell out of style, like, 10 years ago. Season premiere on Wednesday.
MTV still airs Music Videos, Fridays at 4pm. (used to be Saturdays at 8am, but Paramount switched the slots for this and the Paramount+ promotions to Fridays), followed up by a short news/music show (it's not produced by MTV's news division, but by MTV in their Times Square studio)
Anyways, onto what's new.
Here’s what's new this week:
Ridiculousness - Mon & Fri at 8p-9:30p
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta - Tues at 8p
Caught in the Act: Unfaithful - Tues at 9p
Teen Mom: The Next Chapter - SEASON PREMIERE - Wed at 8p & 9p
All Star Shore - Paramount+ Original - Thurs at 8p

I dipped back into some Catfish whilst I've been unwell and one episode was a Max episode and the next was a Kammie episode and I like Kammie, I'm glad she's the co-host BUT.
The catfish in the Kammie episode turned out to be a creepy heartless author basically role playing to get a plot for his story and was like "Well I don't see the big deal, I don't know why she's so upset, it was all fake" but the victim didn't know it was fake!! And Nev and Kammie were way too dilplomatc and calm with him.
When you compare to the episodes where Max shouted at catfishes and called them out on their horrible behaviour, and Nev even pulled a phone out of the catfish's hand and threw it in the lake!! I feel like they let the victim down with how neutral they were about the situation.

I’ve been watching a ton of Catfish lately and I gotta say, bringing in Kamie as co-host was the absolute best decision. Max was great but she is bringing the best, most supportive energy to this show.
