On Hiding

[Image description: A hymnal is opened to the Tom Kendzia hymn "Endless Is Your Love." End ID]
"Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, 'Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,' even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you." Psalm 139:7-12 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/PSA.139.7-12
This week, I have wanted to run from the Almighty. And this week, I have sought Him all the more.
In faith, attempting to hide hinders us more than it hinders the One we are trying to hide from. He already knows every inch of us and the deepest corners of our souls. Recognizing and acknowledging our wounds and vices is a necessary part of healing. That process of recognition is often an extremely difficult first step. All too frequently, we don't want to recognize those wounds. If we don't acknowledge them, maybe they'll go away, we think.
But in the end, trying to hide ourselves from Him only hurts us because it keeps us from experiencing His transforming love. Every time I have gone to Confession with a sin that was weighing me down and confessed it, I have walked out of the confessional with a lighter heart and a greater sense of hope. My hope that He wanted to help me become more loving and more virtuous has been renewed, every time.
This week, some experiences came to light that shook my confidence in my faith. I wanted to draw back from my faith practices and stop practicing them, not to turn to Catholicism or any other religion. Instead of drawing back, something propelled me forward. I woke up early, got ready for my day, and without thinking, drove to daily Mass. I have not been to daily Mass regularly since the beginning of 2020, and here I was, attending it again despite my desire not to do so. Although I wanted to hide, I knew there was no point. There is no hiding from His love. And the sooner I stopped hiding, the sooner I could experience it.
At Mass this morning, the cantor played and sang the hymn "Endless Is Your Love" during Communion. Ever since my return to the Church, the first verse has echoed in my mind in moments of trial: "Surely there's a place / Even you don't know. / If I climb there, if I fly there, can I hide from you?" There is nowhere we can hide from the Almighty's love. He loves all of us, fully, and wants to welcome us to rest, healing, and conversion in His love.
-- Esther

no thoughts, just "where is duty, where is sacrifice" and the way that alicent clings to abstract constructs like religion, honor, duty and sacrifice because her material life is so concretely terrible and empty. to have loved someone so dearly, and watch them be what you perceive as free while your entire personhood is reduced to a womb and made to serve the realm, a vessel for the rotting king to use and abuse. to not exist as a person for yourself but in only in service to others as you are ordered by your father under a patriarchal structure..........and then the contrast of that quote, which summarizes all of alicent's anguish and agony, to the classic, "what is honor compared to a woman's love? what is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms...we are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love.".................but alicent doesn't have love, not anymore. duty, honor, these concepts - they're all she's got, and the lack of the very elements that make them meaningful has corroded her inside and out. so: honor, duty, sacrifice, all without love. and here we are.

I had a dream that I was watching The Terror again and it was… a bit different.
There was a plot where Francis Crozier was pregnant. Not by Fitzjames, no; they weren’t close like that. I think by someone who was 1) a casual hookup and 2) dead. He was confiding in Fitzjames about it, though, and complaining of breast soreness. Fitzjames asked him if he was sure he was pregnant and he said yes, that he recognized the symptoms from when he was younger, and then told a story about how his mother had helped him get an abortion when he was a teenager so he could pursue his then-incipient naval career.
Unfortunately, in the dream, I was watching this version of The Terror with my father and brother and they were confused. “But he’s a man! How is such a thing possible?”
“Transgender,” I explained impatiently, because it was obvious this was the direction the show had gone with the character, even though the actor playing him was still cisgender actor Jared Harris.
“But still, no way this would happen,” I added. “I mean, look at him. He’s GOT to be post-menopausal.”

What does biblical femininity really mean?
The term “biblical femininity” gets thrown around in online traditionalism communities a lot. However, what it actually means may not be what you expect.
So, here’s what someone who’s been in Catholic school since they were 5 thinks about femininity as it’s portrayed in the bible.
・❥・When you hear the term “femininity” you likely think of someone obsessed with the colour pink, fairytales and animals. While yes, these things very well may be true to many feminine women: They are not determining factors at all.
Femininity is not about how you look, dress or even what activities you participate in. In fact that couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to the bible, true femininity is entirely rooted in your behaviour. Instead of focusing on physical attributes or hobbies, biblical femininity focuses on how you treat others, your capacity to love, and your ability to live as according to the teachings of the bible.
This includes things such as being nurturing, which while many have attached negative connotations to: Isn’t negative at all.
By no means does biblical femininity call you to always be nurturing in every situation. In fact it never even says you have to have kids, which is often something associated with this term. Yes, God told Adam and Eve to have children, but there is nothing in the bible that says it is immoral not to. Being nurturing is simply the capacity to feel empathy, or to express cognitive empathy if you’re unable to feel emotional empathy.
Being nurturing doesn’t have anything to do with children. Being nurturing means to put others first whenever you reasonably can.
Biblical femininity is about becoming the woman God created you to be. It’s about being yourself unapologetically, and following Christ without a doubt.
・❥・ Before I finish this post I’d also like to add one last note/disclaimer: This post is 100% based on my own interpretations of the bible after 12 and a half years of attending a Catholic school, as well as growing up with Catholic parents. You are free to interpret the bible however you please, this is just one random teenager on the internets opinion <3

i understand if you're not a religious person, if you don't agree with people's faith and beliefs, it's okay, it's not my business and i don't care, but being respectful isn't hard.
yall want to be politically correct when it comes to sexualities, gender bullshit, racism and wars but when it comes to religions y'all act like degenerated stupid and rancid clowns.
i know, I just know that yall protect muslims/islam and all the other religions, cult and practices because it's important to respect but as soon as it comes to christianity you don't have the same attitude or mindset.
if you are respectful with one religion you should respect all of them, if you don't agree it's okay to have a discussion like normal people but y'all just show how brainwashed and braindead you all are. for god's sake PLEASE learn to think logically and not follow what the internet tells you.
gross.

the anti-aging industry is disgusting. we will inevitably age, you don’t have to inject your face with botox and drink from specialized straws when you can just face reality.
aging is beautiful. God created us this way, and we should allow ourselves to feel life to its full extent instead of fearing our beauty being lessened.
when your worth is placed on character instead of outer-appearance, you will glow with happiness, and that’s what truly makes someone gorgeous forever.

I might not be a girl or a woman anymore, but I will never forget the way that 8 year old me had to wear a t-shirt under her summer sundress. She was told that it would be her fault if a man saw her shoulders and was tempted to sin.
I have seen little kids out in “immodest” clothing: tank tops with dinos, polkadotted short shorts, unicorn crop tops. You know how many of those children I’ve had sinful thoughts about?
None.
Imagine being such a spineless fucking pedophile that you blame the child for daring to have a body.
Remember when the men said to Christ, “the scantily-clad woman is causing us to have impure thoughts!”
They waited to hear “she must cover her body.”
Instead, Christ replied “if your hand betrays you, cut it off; and if your eyes cause you to sin, gouge them out.”
It’s high time to bring that back.
