For those who know me, you probably know I'm crazy about my boyfriend's cat Fiona! She's a sweet affectionate furbaby, and I'd do anything to help her. 2 months ago she suffered an asthma attack that had us rushing to the emergency vet to save her life. This led me to create a music video parody of "My Sharona" by The Knack (or "My Balogna" by "Weird Al if you prefer) celebrating Fiona and what makes her special, and a GoFundMe that will support our ability to fund future vet visits (those ain't cheap).

Yes, this is the point, give us the cats. They are unfortunately often more fun, loyal, and emotionally empathetic than you. And they ask only for simple affection, play, and food in return. They come and go as they need, they want to be touched until they don't. Sometimes they want to be held, and other times, it's too much. Sometimes there is hissing and wild wailing (for some need is not being met) and sometimes there are sweet mews and the hum of contented purring. And that is all okay. We still love our cats and they love us in return, through the changing moods, and the need-- some days, weeks, months--for more space than on others. Through it all, they are companions.

This is the freedom and unconditional love we want in any relationship.

Give us the cats, and please go away until you are empathetically aware and in management of your emotions enough to truly "hold" another human the way cats are willing to be "held" by us.

cats are literally so amazing. like, there was a time where i didn't like cats but i had literally hardly met any cats, i didn't know how cool they were. i thought they were like dogs but scarier.

but my cats are literally such sweethearts. once you get to know a cat the experience is just magical. they're such sweet little guys and i wish i could tell every cat in the world that its existence is appreciated, loved, and adored.

You know the delight you feel when you go up to a cat and bop them on their little nose? Just reach out a finger and “bop!” lightly tap their nose and they blink at you in confusion as to why you would do such a thing?

I do this often to my kittens.

So you cannot imagine the utter joy and delight I felt tonight when lying on my sofa, my kitten Morpheus climbed up to sit on my chest, reached out with his paw, and “bop!” tapped me on my nose.

He then jumped off me again and did this little hop and I get the impression he was very pleased with himself.

He then went back to his blanket and curled up again. So it doesn’t seem like he wanted anything else, other than to bop me on the nose. I am extremely happy about this and it has made my day. :)
