Your deaf/HoH Mercury headcanons, hand 'em over and nobody gets hurt. Please. 🔫
mercury's deafness had been there since birth, his left ear had not developed properly in utero but there was still some semblance of hearing in the ear. this would then become complete deafness through his training with marcus where there was a lack of care with gun safety & mercury's hearing.
tw abuse. this was further compounded on with marcus' physical abuse & lack of medical care, mercury had been left with multiple ear infections untreated & then physical assaults.
his balance when he was a child was terrible due to this & the ear infections that messed with his inner ear. while he got a better handle on his balance when he grew, mercury still finds himself stumbling or losing balance when he's tired or ill, especially now with his prosthetics.
he knows very little of any of remnant's standardized sign languages. marcus saw no need in teaching him & mercury had no time to learn: he has however come up with his own shorthand version that he taught to emerald. for "emergencies."
his hearing is currently: mostly hearing in his right ear, full deafness in his left.
he has also managed to manipulate his aura in a way to help him feel vibrations through touch when he concentrates, it helps with anticipating footsteps or assisting with trying to understand people's speech.
lip reading became a very useful tool for mercury, however it does become less useful during battle or when he's tired / sick.

Tagged by @cyanoscarlet (thanks for the tag, I've never actually gotten to do one of these before!)
Rules: Make a new post and post your latest line from your WIP and tag as many people as there are words.
Okay so I'm actually outlining right now and thus don't have a running body of actual sentences I'm working on, but the last sentence I've jotted down as likely to make it into the fic is:
"His Grace"'s pure heritage is a fiction--an immaculate conception of paper and perjury
Explanation: attempting to novelize Dion's entire coming of age because I'm insane and thinking about what he might have overheard that makes him seem unsurprised, by the time of canon, when Anabella mentions his mother. Anyway it's not an awesome thing to overhear at 12/13 right after getting a terrible new stepmom.
Oh man I definitely do not know 14 people who write on here so uhhhhhhh
@dnainers @beliscary @bearmageddon @verasquid @catsintei @summer-in-underland @estaf-73
Okay that's seven that's a factor of fourteen it will suffice

Give me Mercury!
How I feel about this character
BEST BOI. I love him down to his fighting style, who he alludes to, his fighting style, etc.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Mainly emerald. Also I crackship him with yang xD
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Hmmm probably Sun x Mercury. They have bromance potential. Sun was did say he fights good in v3 so maybe that’s why I brotp it lmao also they should be sparring buddies
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don’t think I really have one? Ik there’s some opinions that he’s a “sociopath” in the fndm but those aren’t really popular. Regardless he does care and feels empathy for people he’s close with and he’s not some evil sociopath others make him out to be. But they’re simpletons with a black & white mindset so oh well. Doubt their minds would change regardless of how he canonically is under the layers of his exterior
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
That he gets his semblance back! He deserves it, he deserves to have the piece of his soul reclaimed! ;-;
Give me a character

So, I've read some of your, admittedly, amazing analysis posts about RWBY, and I just have one question. Now that V6 is over what are your thoughts on the future of our favorite villain duo, Emerald and Mercury? With the revelations and concerns brought up in Volume 6, what do you think is going to happen to them moving forward?
Hiya Cats! Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Pleased to hear that youenjoyed my RWBY Musings posts. To answer your question; prior to V6’s premiere,I shared RWBY Musing #49 voicing my thoughts and theories for what I perceived to be the futuregoing forward for the Jaded Duo.
After V5, I was under the impression that theFall of Cinder would’ve led to Emerald and Mercury going rogue with Hazeltagging along with them. I figured that these three would’ve decided to notreturn to Salem out of fear of her punishment, especially Emerald since hermonstrous apparition of her back at Haven clearly painted her terrors of thewicked witch.
I was later disappointed to learn that theydid indeed return to Salem in V6. Moreover, I was disappointed with how theseries left Mercury and Emerald’s story. At least in the case of Tyrian, Wattsand even Cinder who are all on their way to Atlas, nothing concrete was really setup for Emerald and Mercury.
Tumblr media
The story touched based on them in V6 C9,sprinkled some interesting titbits regarding Mercury’s past and then…nothingelse. Tyrian interrupted their moment and gave them some advice, if you’d callit that, but beyond that---I’m not sure what is going to happen of these two.
If I had to guess, my safest bet is thatwhile Tyrian and Watts are at Atlas, Emeraldand Mercury would be deployed to Vacuo along with Hazel. Before being interrupted with the news of Ozpin’s reincarnation, Salemmentioned Shade Academy being her next target.
What’s interesting is that Salem wasn’t focusedon claiming the Relic of Creation. Heck she wasn’t even that much concernedwith the failure to obtain the Relic of Knowledge either. The only reason sheswitched gears was because she learned that Ozpin is back, leaving the windowopen for him to reunite with Ironwood.  To me it seems like Salem is more interestedin sparking conflict between the kingdoms by using Atlas as their scapegoatagain. In C9, Tyrian told Mercury and Emerald this:
“…There’sbeen a change in plans. Her grace must act swiftly if we are to prevail. IfGeneral Ironwood comes to his senses and calls upon aid from Vacuo, all may belost for us. So the Good Doctor and I are being sent to Atlas to prepare…”
My theory is that Salemplans on possibly using Atlas Kingdom to spark a second Great War starting withVacuo. Not only would another war provide theperfect cover fire for Salem and her forces to swoop in and claim the remainingrelics undetected, but it will also feed into Salem’s true scheme for thedamnation of humanity.
The cards have already been laid out for us.In the Lost Fable, the God of Light revealed to Ozma in the Realm Between Realms that thecombined power of the Relics doesn’t grant anyone God-like power. I mean magic is the closestin canon equivalent to the power of a god and unlike Ozma, Salem still has allof hers. Instead the Relics will summon the Brothers back to Remnant. Fromthere, humanity will be judged by the brothers. If it is shown that peacereigns throughout the lands then the brothers shall return to Remnant andhumanity will be ‘made wholeagain’ as the God of Light described. However if warand anarchy prevails then the Brothers will consider mankind irredeemable andRemnant as we know it will be wiped out of existence.
The God of Light provided humanity a secondchance to rebuild themselves with Ozma and the other Wizards throughout timeworking diligently to uphold that. However I believe Salem’s plan is to causethe destruction of Remnant. I believe Salem’s ultimate plan is to spark anotherwar between the four kingdoms, throwing the world into chaos as it was 80 yearsprior and once the war begins, Salem will complete acquiring the Relics and usetheir combined power to to summon the Gods back to Remnant.
Seeing humanity reduced to chaos, the Godswill provide Salem what she wants. The destruction of humanity and Remnant. Idon’t know if Salem’s other plan is to also take down the Brother Gods, becoming the Goddess she claimed herself to be and using her newfound status toremake the world in her image as well. But that’s another theory.
Returning to the Jaded Duo, I’d like tobelieve that Salem hasn’t abandoned pursuing the Relic of Destruction. I feel likeshe would send her remaining three pawns (Mercury, Emerald and Hazel) to Vacuo.
While it wasn’t how I pictured it, I’mactually a little intrigued by this possibility. Vacuo has been described asthis sort of place where anyone can make a home and start anew so long as theycan survive the desert. Before V6, my original theory was that Emerald would’vebecome the Fall Maiden, unintentionally inheriting Cinder’s power. Then amonstrous grimmified Cinder betrays Emerald completely and returns to try andtake the maiden magic back---Emerald would kill Cinder and together with Hazeland Mercury, the three would head for Vacuo to start anew believing it to betheir safe haven where Salem would never find them or something like that.
While Emerald didn’t become a Maiden as Ithought, Tyrian’s last words to her and Mercury definitely left me curious. Tyrian toldthem that if they do not love what they are doing then they are in the wrongprofession. Even though the option of leaving was immediately debunked, whyhave Tyrian say it if it’s not mean to be a hanging question that’s going to beon Emerald and Mercury’s minds going forward?
What would have been interesting is if theCRWBY Writers had had Emerald pursue Cinder. Like perhaps Emerald leaves on her own to find Cinder because shebelieved in her and the relationship they shared despite Mercury’s words. Thatcould’ve been an interesting subplot to follow.
However…it seems as if Emerald has gottenover Cinder; even after discovering that she’s still alive. If there’s onething I’m still hoping for with Emerald’s character, it’s the nature of herbond with Mercury and Hazel to grow.
I’m still banking on Hazel and Mercurybecoming the family that Emerald never got to have. I’m still hoping that Hazel will come to see a surrogate little sisterin Emerald. Be the version of Gretchen he failed toprotect. His willingness to accept punishment for Emerald during V6 indicatedthis to me. I loved that. I want more of it. I want more opportunities forHazel and Emerald to grow and develop a brother and sister type ofrelationship.
And since I am a Jaded shipper, I wantEmerald and Mercury to evolve in their dynamic as well. I’m not sure if romance is truly in thecards for these two. Nonetheless, I mostly want to see Mercury come togenuinely care for Emerald and see her as someone he wishes to protect and keep by hisside. Someone who can possibly love him or at least provide him the care and compassion that he wasunfortunately denied as a little boy.
“…I’m sorry youdidn’t have a mommy that loved you but I had a father who hated me…”
Mercury has only known hate. Hate breedshate. It’s funny, when Cinder first met Mercury, one of the first questions sheasked him if whether or not he was like his father. You can even say that partof Mercury’s drive as a character is to be someone who was better than his fatherand it showed during his monologue to Emerald in C9.
“…He neverwent easy on me. Every day of training was a beating and when I unlocked mysemblance, he stole it with his. This is a crutch. This makes you weak. He toldme I could have it back when I was strong so I got strong. But I never got itback.
I’ve had to work harder than anyone to get where I am. You may not likeit here without Cinder but I think I’m right where I’m supposed to be…”
This single paragraph of dialogue revealed moreto me about Merc and how he thinks than anything else he’s said throughoutRWBY. That’s the proof in the pudding. Mercury isn’t with Salem because he generally believes in her cause. He chose her side because apparently it’s the side with the least amount ofeffort. To Mercury, siding with the forces of evil is the easy route.
After suffering a life where he spent more ofit working hard and pushing himself past his breaking point only for hisefforts to reveal no true payoff in the form of him never regaining his lostsemblance, Mercury had enough. I saw this scene as Mercury’s way of implyingthat he’s given up on hope. Why bother working hard to maintain peace and order when it’s easierto spark disorder since, as Jinn put it, the hearts of man are easily swayed. Why bother fighting to thwart an enemy that can’t be killed when you can justside with said immortal enemy and aid them in their endeavours to ensure yoursurvival.
In Mercury’s head, siding with Salem---theimmortal goddess who no one---not even the Great and Powerful Ozpin can kill(and still hasn’t figured out a way to kill in centuries, mind you) is the winningside. She’s the easy way and to a guy like Mercury who’s had to work hard for everything, that’shis best option.
In a weird way, Mercury’s justification in C9highlighted the other side of learning the truth about Salem. Throughout RWBY’srun, we’ve seen three reactions to main characters learning of Salem’s immortalityand invincibility.
On one end, you have our heroes who stillbelieve in protecting humanity from Salem and believe in working towardstopping her in spite the impossible odds. One another end, you have those likeLionheart and Mercury who sided with Salem because they saw her as the easy wayout as opposed to being killed trying to fight her and then there’s Raven endof simply running away from it all and doing your best not to get involved. Fascinatingdeep stuff, right?
Going back to Mercury. As I said, Mercury hasnever known what it’s like to care or be cared by someone else. He’s only knownto care for himself and look out for his own survival. But what’s intriguing tome about Merc is that there are traits that defy this selfish aspect of hispersonality.
Despite acting like he doesn’t care, Merc has been shown to care for Emerald. He’s even been shown to kind of flirt with a bit too hence why I started shipping them. His introduction lineto Emerald from V2 still gets me every time.
“…Whatever.You want me.”
Despite being raised by an abusive father,Mercury isn’t anything like him. Mercury hasshown to have a soft side forEmerald. It’s even highlighted in V6 C9.
Tumblr media
Let’s all be real. Mercury could have easilykicked Emerald’s ass during that first scene especially in hand to hand combat. But I found it rather interesting that Mercury seemed to have gone easy on Emerald. Sure he acted callously towards her at first but…even aftershe struck at him in frustration, Merc held back.
Yes he countered Emerald’s attacks but as I’llsay again, Mercury can easily overpower Emerald in hand to hand especially sincehe can read her frantic movements from a mile away. Mercury is ruthless withothers but surprisingly lax with Emerald. In his own way, he cares for her. Sheis possibly the one person whose well-being he values as much as his own and itcould be exciting if the story tackled more on that.
Not to mention that I’m VERY interested inseeing Mercury interact more withHazel. I feel these two alpha males might clashover what’s best for Emerald but for the most part I think Hazel could providethe healthy paternal relationship that he never got to have with his real father.
At this moment, I don’t think Hazel is awareof Mercury’s abuse. Makes me wonder how he would feel toward him and treat himafter that. Could be very cool to see granted that we get to see it movingforward.
To concludemy answer: That’s pretty much my thoughts on Jaded. I hope this answers yourquestion Cats.
On one last note, I don’t think we’ll beseeing the Jaded Duo for V7 though or…most of the Atlas Arc. I wouldn’t besurprised if Emerald and Mercury fall into the pit of obscurity for the AtlasArc and we might not see them in the story again until the Vacuo Arc. Unlessthe CRWBY do a thing where they cut back and forth between Atlas and Vacuoduring the Atlas Trilogy. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did since they didcut back and forth between Mistral, Atlas, Vale/Patch and Menagerie between V4and V5.
Then again…this was mostly due to our mainfour girls being separated and in different locations. I mean in V6, the storydid take it’s time to hone in on our villains so perhaps we will get to Emeraldand Mercury’s story continued with Hazel going forward.
Like while the heroes are settled into Atlas, the story could occasionally cut to scenes in Vacuo where Emerald and Mercuryare with Hazel on pursuit for Shade Academy. And along the way, they can crosspaths with Vacuo heroes like Team SSSN and Team CFVY. That could be cool.
I’d actually think Emerald going to Vacuo wouldbe pretty great given her character inspiration. Isn’t Emerald not inspired byAladdin? Vacuo is technically the Agrabah of Remnant so…Emerald will be in herelement. Literally. In the desert among thieves and pickpockets like herself. Anyways, that’s my theory for now. I could be very much wrong about all of this but weshall see.

Emercury week prompt 7: Reunion
Alive and Kicking
“She’s dead.”
“Not unless something happened in the last four hours,” Yang said slowly. She didn’t move her gauntlet but the anger on her face was shifting to confusion. “You know something I don’t?”
Oh look it's another Vacuan reunion story!
@emercuryweek
shout out to @catsintei, @razorblade180, and @iamaweirdbeing for putting the idea that Mercury thinks Emerald is dead in my head and refusing to let it leave with their good ideas and their good writing (x,x, and x respectively)

So, About Mercury...
WARNING: This post will contain spoilers from the entirety of Volume 8 of RWBY.  If you have not yet watched the volume in its entirety, I suggest you do so before continuing in this post.
Thank goodness Emerald managed to break free from Salem’s forces!  People have been wanting a redemption arc for her, myself included, and I’m glad that she opened her eyes in regards to her unhealthy relationship with Cinder, which now allows her to see just the level of destruction Cinder has caused upon those around her.  As she was an abuse survivor, I’m glad things turned out well for her for the time being.  That being said, however, there is still one more person we need to worry about, someone I haven’t heard people talk about much lately:
Mercury Black.
Tumblr media
Originally, I was going to include this in the intro analysis post I was going to make for Volume 8, but after watching it frame by frame, I’ve noticed some things that I felt were significant enough for me to write a blog about it separately.  I’ll be sure to link this blog in the intro analysis once I eventually do it.
In typical anime fashion, the main villains make their appearance in the opening alongside the mastermind behind it all.  After Cinder burns up and the song provides the line, “Some evil will never ever die,” notice how each member of Salem’s group comes in.
Hazel is holding his fist with an uncertain expression, as if he is questioning whether or not what he is doing the right thing.  This foreshadows his eventual turn by betraying Salem and ultimately sacrificing himself to buy the heroes some time before Salem could regenerate.  Then Tyrian follows him with a devilish smirk, which I feel says more than enough about his character.  Now, notice Mercury appearing after Tyrian with a confident and evil grin, then followed by Salem’s entrance. This raises a really important question:
Why is Mercury closest to Salem in this scene?
If I have learned anything about CRWBY from the show, it’s that they love to drop hints in their intros about what is to come.  You’ll see what I mean once the intro analysis drops.  That being said, let me explain what I believe the meaning behind this little scene is.
Typically, the closer you stand next to a ruler when it comes to positioning, the more power and authority you have.  After reprimanding Emerald for trying to defend Cinder for going off to fight the Winter Maiden and destroy Amity Arena on her own, Mercury states something very interesting to Cinder when she demands the both of them to leave:
Tumblr media
“Yeah, about that.  Salem’s got other plans for me.  I’m not gonna be taking orders from you anymore.” ~“Midnight” (Volume 8 Episode 6)
I’m inclined to believe that Mercury gained a promotion from Salem and will likely be playing a more integral part in her plans from this point onwards, especially since he headed out to Vacuo with Tyrian in Episode 7 known as “War.”  His role could be even more significant than his peers, including Tyrian, who will be his partner for the mission.  They will most likely try to secure the Relic of Destruction secured in Shade Academy, and wouldn’t you know it, Ren, Nora, Oscar, and the others are evacuating the Atlesians into Vacuo.  We’re definitely going to be seeing more of him as an important villain in Volume 9.
Does this mean that Mercury will get the short end of the stick and not get the redemption arc that so many of his fans are hoping for?
Possibly, but not necessarily.  Mercury is indeed evil, but he isn’t irredeemable.  As an assassin, he has killed people before (remember Tukson?) and even jokes about it afterwards.  He also has some sadistic tendencies as he enjoys other people’s pain, much like Cinder Fall, who he has been working with until now.  However, unlike his former superior, he still shows compassion for those he cares about, even if he attempts to conceal his emotions.  The very fact that he goes out of his way to assure Emerald that Cinder doesn’t really care about her reveals that he wants Emerald to break free from her abusive relationship with her.  He was an abuse survivor as well, having to deal with his own father (whom he eventually killed in a flashback during “Beginning of the End” Volume 3 Episode 7) along with Cinder constantly mistreating Emerald on-screen and likely Mercury off-screen.  In fact, he doesn’t even want to carry out the mission since Emerald discovered Salem’s true goal and informed him in “War.”  The main reason why he’s in this is for survival and power, but after realizing the promises Salem made for him were a lie, he remains by her side to save his own skin.
Tumblr media
“Salem's promised us everything. We win this thing for her, we'll be top dogs in her new world. What more do you want?” ~Answering his motive on joining Cinder and Salem “Lost” (Volume 6, Episode 9)
“Look, even if what he said was true, we can’t stop Salem. You told me yourself, Hazel tried. He failed and he got in line. Big guy’s not going to pick fights he can’t win, and neither should we.” ~Earlier on the same episode “War” (Volume 8, Episode 7)
I personally believe he’s gonna have his redemption arc at Volume 9.  However, that’s not going to happen without a fight.  Salem can’t be stopped so he sees no point in fighting against her, and he’s too deep in his situation for him to simply opt out of the mission.  If he doesn’t do what’s expected of him, he’s likely going to die.  Of course, the heroes at Vacuo will try to get him out of it.  I think that we’ll have a 1-on-1 confrontation between Emerald and Mercury, and he’ll have to fight her now that she’s a traitor.  However, I don’t think that he is currently equipped to handle Emerald on his own, let alone the others and especially Winter with her new Maiden powers.  I believe that he’ll need a power boost to make things interesting...perhaps he might somehow regain his Semblance or create a new one from the dire situation he is in, or perhaps a part of him will be transformed in a manner similar to Cinder’s Grimm arm, a part that he constantly relies on survival but was taken from him at some point...like his legs.
YES, I ADAMANTLY BELIEVE THAT MERCURY WILL HAVE GRIMM LEGS.
Anyways, that’s my take on things.  I think Mercury will have his redemption at some point in the next volume.  Whether or not he survives afterwards, however, I’m not entirely sure, especially if he does end up obtaining Grimm legs.  I’m really looking forward to seeing what this guy can bring to the table.  I believe that CRWBY can make an amazing story out of his character arc and how he can break away from the fear of what might happen if he were to get himself out of Salem’s grasp.  It can be a great lesson that people can break free from abusive situations and that they can get better over time.
Tumblr media
//Credit to Catsintei for the image.
ONE LAST DISCLAIMER: Abuse is a very serious subject that RWBY addresses multiple times through multiple characters.  If you have been in an abusive relationship, at some point you might feel like this is just the way things will be.  You might feel like there’s no way out of it.  You may even feel like you deserve it.  None of this is true whatsoever.  If you find yourself in this situation, reach out to someone you know you can trust.  If you don’t feel like you can trust someone, find a counselor or an authoritative figure to help you out.  You can change things for the better.  You are worthy of so much more than this, and you should be living life to the fullest without having anyone hold you back.

I don't really understand the argument of "why not just call child services" for Cinder's backstory. From what we see of Remnant, child services/welfare seem to be completely nonexistent. Adam was a literal slave in the mines as a child. Emerald was homeless for presumably most of her life, and she probably wasn't the only homeless kid on the block. Mercury was abused his entire life, and people most likely knew that he was being abused (since that man in v3c7 flashback knew that Mercury existed and lives with Marcus), and so on and so forth. It's not as simple as calling child services and being done with it.
i’m just gonna copy & paste my twitter thread about rhodes here from twitter because it’s perfect for this ask.
for people also blaming rhodes for not reporting the madame to the authorities to save cinder, here's a perspective from someone who's worked in social care & was part of the foster system for a brief time due to childhood abuse.
first off, we don't know what child services is like in remnant, let alone in a notably corrupt atlas. rhodes was not a consistent part of cinder's life, he was in the hotel very sporadically over a period of five years. he can't give more than what he has.
two, let's go with the concept that he reports what abuse he's seen (poor sleeping conditions & forced to do chores) to the authorities. they come out & it goes one of two ways. first way, cinder, as most abused kids do, lies. she denies the abuse in fear of reprisal. with no evidence of bruises or marking which is one of the only instances child services can act on ! they can do nothing & leave. now rhodes is cut off from cinder, probably never allowed back in the hotel again & cinder faces further abuse from her family. probably escalated.
second way, cinder admits the abuse she's suffered. this is still not a surefire way of her escaping. the mantra in a lot of child services is to keep the child with the parent; in my personal & professional experience, it is very hard for a child to be removed long term. they could give orders that the madame has to upgrade cinder's living facilities. without evidence of physical abuse like scars or bruises to act on, removing her would be incredibly hard. let alone without the added issue of the madame's influence & money.
child services is apparently such a non issue in remnant that the madame was able to just pick cinder up from a farm without question. that's the best case scenario. worst is that cinder is taken & put with another family or in an orphanage that is just as bad if not worse. or she ends up on the streets like emerald was, which is clearly something cinder wanted to desperately avoid considering she didn't just run away.
at the end of the day, rhodes is not the case of an enabler doing nothing or a bystander turning a blind eye. we've seen enablers & abusers in the show, a certain other woman called willow had upgraded from being the enabler of her children's abuse to actively abusing whitley right now; & the reception for his abuse was far different. we've seen bystanders in hazel, tyrian & watts.
rhodes is no more responsible in saving cinder than anyone else is, & i wish people would realize that good intentions cannot always save the day, despite what ruby preaches to you. he did all he could. sometimes life just sucks like that & you have to get on with it.

I knew it! I didn't trust her at all, nice try Oda...
While my gut tells me I probably still made note that hey we haven’t seen her third eye or her Oda box yet (we’re getting at least one of the two this chapter) we should be careful . . . yeah I fell for her in the aftermath of 848.
But yeah, THIS is the discussion of the chapter to be sure (unless there’s something real gosh darn epic in that Pedro fight - I mean the spoiler says he bisects Tamago that’s gotta be pretty awesome).
But with all the back and fourth with her character . . . part of me STILL isn’t sure, because some details still aren’t adding up for me:
1. Unless Pudding knew where Brook and Pedro were while she was out wedding dress shopping, why say she had somewhere else to be? If not at the coast, where?
2. During her talk with Sanji, why did she even bother to bring up that she met with Luffy and the others? I don’t think Luffy mentioned meeting Pudding back in 843 so there was no reason for her to bring it up.
3. Big Mom still seems to think this wedding is happening - she told the Violent Murder Children Pudding was getting married. There must be a reason that scene was included and if the plan really was to murderize all the Vinsmokes why tell the brats Pudding was getting hitched?
4. This plan doesn’t fit with Big Mom’s MO and we have at least two examples of this - Aladdin and Capone. Why are the Vinsmokes being treated differently?
5. For that matter why bother telling Luffy and Nami anything AT ALL? Why even BOTHER going to them at all!?
This to me suggests that MAYBE Pudding has gone rogue, either to save Sanji in some sort of really elaborate ruse that involves pissing a lot of people off so they create a chaotic clusterfuck Sanji and co. can use to escape or she IS loyal to her mother but doesn’t want to marry and figures that staging her own kind of coup that nets her mother what she wants in the end (Germa Kingdom and their assets).
Most signs still point to Pudding probably being a Psycho Murder Bitch with the possibility of her being “good” or making a heel turn pretty damn slim, especially since that would basically be Viola all over again.
Look if nothing else she’s definitely an interesting character and I’m itching to read this incoming chapter \o/

Give me Emerald too!
How I feel about this character
I love her. She’s has one of if not the most beautiful designs in the show💚
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Mercury, of course <3. Also family jewels ain’t half bad
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I would guess Blake. They have a lot in common. Both, woc, were/still is mentally trapped in abusive relationships, not gonna list them all but I feel Blake would be the most understanding out of team RWY Edit: I think the ship name for this is burglar cat 🐱
My unpopular opinion about this character
She’s much more educated than most assume I guess. She listed several books during her talk with Tukson, she’s self taught for sure. We love a smort gorl
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character
Character development! I want to know what’s more to know about her, rather than her character being all about uwu cinder uwu. But I guess we’d have to wait lmao
Give me a character
