@kikker-oma happy belated birthday!!! Sorry it took so long for me to finish this! But I hope it proves worth the wait <333 (Also I hope you don’t mind some whump)
CW for blood and injury, vomiting, a panic attack, and a cave-in (be careful if you’re claustrophobic)
————————————-
In the wake of the explosion, Sky feels nothing. There is a high-pitched ring in his ears, spots in his vision, warm, sticky blood trickling from his nose. But no pain.
Until there is.
It hits like a claymore, cleaving through the half-consciousness he has clung to thus far. And the next thing he knows, he’s jerking upward, gasping. Only, he can’t sit upright at all.
His mind screams the panicked order, his muscles attempt it, but a weak, agonizing twitch is all he manages. Something is holding him down, something massive and heavy. His chest struggles to rise beneath its constant compression.
Sky blinks again, squinting past the tiny eruptions of light and the dust that floats, thick and suffocating in the air around him. There is nothing much to see in the endless darkness. But he can make out jagged shapes, blocky forms, the outlines of sand-covered objects.
Caging him in. Holding him down.
He’s pinned, he realizes with a streak of mind-numbing terror. And suddenly, what little air he had managed to drag in turns to nothing at all. He gasps, eyes blowing wide, as he thrashes.
Or attempts to. All he manages is to bring on a fresh onslaught of dizzying agony. It strikes through to his very bones, sending sharp pricks of static dancing before his eyes and crawling up the back of his head. And for a split second, everything goes a striking shade of black.
Then, he’s breaching the surface once more, too soon, much too soon, skyrocketing back into a world of pain and suffocation.
Sky coughs, choking on blood and tears. He has never really considered himself claustrophobic, but this experience might just change that assumption. Of all the ways to die…
But you’re not, he berates himself. You’re not dead yet, so think, think. Figure out a way to survive.
He can’t reach his pouch. The rubble piled beside him makes certain of that. It presses against him, crushing his side and tugging at the hem of his sailcloth. But if he can move it just a bit…
Trembling hands press to its jagged surface. With a sharp intake of breath, Sky steels himself and pushes.
Something shifts and for a split second, Sky dares to hope that maybe, just maybe he can get free. But then, the rubble on his lower half crawls sideways with the rest. And Sky screams.
The nauseating numbness that had begun to take root vanishes, replaced with the absolute agony that splits through his legs. He turns his head to the side and chokes up bile.
That one moment seems to last forever, pain dancing along his body endlessly. He lies there, limp and gasping, gazing at the blurred splotches his vision has been reduced to. And the waves wash over him, stealing the air from his lungs and turning his thoughts into incomprehensible things.
Needles streak up his neck, bringing with them unnatural heat. His eyelids flutter, eyes preparing to roll back in his head and plunge him back into the painless deep.
“Sky!”
A hand finds his, desperate in the way it grasps at him. Sky inhales sharply, jolting back into some semblance of awareness.
He had thought no other heroes were near the blast. He had thought they were all clear of the area. So, why…
Wait.
Memories crash back into his mind like waves on the sea. Memories of a building crumbling behind him and a boy by his side, running, running away from the collapse, away from certain death. Memories of the fiery knowledge that had situated itself firmly in Sky’s gut, the knowledge that he must protect him, protect the hero who came after him.
Protect the hero who was the first to feel the brunt of his failures, no matter the cost.
His hands fly out on instinct to shove the small figure in front of him through the doorway. Echoes of a terrified voice in his mind as he leaps, meaning to follow, wanting to.
Only for darkness to catch him before he can.
Four. Sky’s breath hitches, a sob of relief and agony catching in his throat. Four is here with him. Four is alive.
And he came back.
“Sky, can you hear me?”
The Skyloftian focuses all his strength. Weakly, he squeezes Four’s hand. The smithy blows out an audible sigh of relief.
“Thank the goddesses. We’re gonna get you free, okay? We just need a minute. If we move anything now…”
Though he trails off, the words left unspoken weigh on the Skyloftian even more heavily than the rubble. He drags in a thin gasp, swallowing against the growing lump in his throat.
“But I need you to stay awake until we can get you out,” Four continues, forcing a lighter tone into his voice. “Can you do that?”
“Yes,” is what Sky means to say. “Hurts,” is the croaked cry that comes out.
Four’s grip tightens. “I know, Sky. I’m-I’m sorry.”
Sky closes his eyes. The darkness there is safer, more comfortable than the dusky dimness floating around him.
“Not your fa-fault.”
“You shouldn’t have pushed me.” The voice is grim and drenched in guilt. Though it aims to sound accusatory, Sky feels that it hardly meets the mark. “‘There was time. We could’ve both gotten out. We could’ve…”
“K-kept you safe.” It is hardly a croak. The word burns in his throat. “Smithy…I w-wanted to…”
He drags his eyes open, stares into the expanse of floating nothingness. He still can’t breathe.
“It’s the least I…could do.”
Four is silent for a long moment. Then, his fingers constrict just slightly. Their warmth is welcome in a world of cold darkness.
“You’re going to get out of there, Sky,” he murmurs and there is something in his tone that Sky cannot identify. Maybe he could if he wasn’t so tired. Far more than usual in fact. This exhaustion drags him down like a leaden weight, pulling at the remaining scraps of consciousness.
“Just hold on,” the smithy says, and Sky pushes back against the endless deep.
Hold on.
He can do that. He can…
“T-tell me about y-your Hyrule,” he croaks.
And Four does. The smithy has many secrets, perhaps, even as much as the old man, and yet, he tells him. Of his grandfather, of Dot, of his home and his world and the tiny creatures known as Minish.
Sky clings to every word that tells him more about the hero who followed after him and the land he fought to protect. He clings to the sound of his voice, the warmth of his fingers, the painting he paints of his life…until his brothers come.
And then, finally, finally, the world is opening back up and the sunlight is streaming in and he can drag in thin gasps of fresh air and…and Four is right there, still holding his hand but gazing down at him now. Concern gleams in his multicolored irises.
Sky offers him a weak smile. “‘M okay now, smithy,” he murmurs, every word agony. “T-thanks for…for staying.”
Four’s face splits into a grin. A teary one, but an expression of joy nonetheless. “I’ll always stay. It’s the least I can do for the person who paved the way.”
There is respect in those words, Sky realizes dimly. Respect and something else…A connection, perhaps, that is stronger even than their bond of brotherhood.
He deserves neither.
But as he lets his eyes slip shut, as the voices of his family swell around him and arms lift him with a gentleness that belies their strength…he is glad to know about their place in the timeline. He understands the look in Time’s eye a little better now, when he gazes upon Twilight.
He is proud of his successor too.

Whumptober Day 12
Zoro x Reader
Tumblr media
"Let's go this way," Zoro suggested when your captain couldn't make up his mind which way he thought would be more fun.
"Yeah right, like we're going to let you lead the way Zoro," Sanji scoffed and rolled his eyes. He then gestured to another tunnel. "We should go this way."
"Hey, why don't we split into teams?" you said before the duo could start arguing over who should decide what. "That way we can find the treasure faster."
"Good idea, [Y/n]!" Nami agreed with your plan since it'd mean she could find her money sooner.
"Alright guys, we're splitting up," Luffy declared and dashed down the path in front of him.
"Luffy!" Nami snapped out of her money trance and ran after him. "Wait up!"
"Yo Robin, how 'bout we go down this way," Franky offered the ravenette as he shinned his nipple lights on the walls. "This one got some runes."
"I'd be happy to," Robin smiled as she followed the shipwright.
"Hey look, this one has skeletons like me," Brook chuckled as he lifted up the bone body to show the others, scaring Usopp and Chopper.
You laughed at the sight until you noticed the swordsman wandering back the way you guys just came. "Zoro, you're the wrong way."
"Huh?" He turned around with a puzzled expression.
You shook your head and took his hand, beginning to lead him. "This is the cave you wanted to explore."
"I knew that." If it weren't for the darkness surrounding you two, you would've noticed Zoro's cheeks turning into red roses.
Your footsteps echoed down the cave, the only thing keeping silence at bay. At times, Zoro's arm brushes against yours, you sense how he tenses each time. Unsure why he's uneasy, you decide to strike up some small talk.
"What are you hoping we'll find in the treasure chest?"
"Some booze would be nice," Zoro answered bluntly.
"I don't know if we'll find any," you deadpan thinking it might not have been the best question to ask. "I'm sure we could use some of the wealth to buy some though."
Silence squeezes between the two of you when the attempt at conversation fails. You sigh and begin to glance around the cave for something interesting. Briefly, you catch sight of pointy-shaped rocks up ahead and-
"Hey, I have a question, [Y/n]," Zoro abruptly pulled you out of your observation.
"Hm?" you hummed turning your head to him as you kept walking.
"How come you don't drink?"
"Oh- uh- I guess I just got used to not being able to drink," you shrugged. "My island sorta outlawed alcohol."
"What? How did your people survive? That sounds like a nightmare," Zoro said dreading the idea of living in a place that didn't have booze.
You giggled at him, "Maybe to you, however, thanks to that law, pirates didn't care to visit our little island." A memory flashes in your mind and your smile disappears. "At least until..."
Zoro stops and places a hand on your shoulder making you halt. You glanced at where his eyes would be, unable to see them due to the darkness clouding the view. The outline of Zoro's mouth opens, about speak when-
"GUUUUUUUUYYYYSSSSSS!!!"
The area vibrated as your captain's voice bounced off the walls. Bits of rubble fell from the ceiling, landing on your head and shoulders. Your eyes glanced above your head, and you realized you two were under unstable rock spikes.
"WE FOUND THE TREASURE!!!" Luffy shouted down your cave. Larger rocks rolled down the sides of the wall.
"Luffy! We're in an unstable zone!" You tried to warn without lifting your voice too high, in fear of being crushed.
"WHHAAAT?!! I CAN'T HEAR YOU GUYS!! SPEAK UP!!"
"I SAID-"
"[Y/N] watch out!"
You felt yourself being pushed away from the sounds of crumbling rocks dropping down. Vibration shook the earth as rocks collided against the stone ground. You felt big arms shield you as everything around you collapsed. You couldn't feel your breath and without realization, you grab onto the arm, holding onto it for dear life. Your eyes squeezed shut, you weren't sure when it stopped.
"[Y/n] are you alright?" Zoro asked, a grunt in his voice.
"Yeah," you reply, eyes fluttering open. "I'm fine, what about-"
Zoro stressed out a few grunts as he held up a large boulder above his head, keeping it from crushing the both of you. You gasped, "Zoro!"
"I'm fine." Zoro sucked in a breath. "This is nothing. As long as you're safe, I'm fine."

Whumptober #14: Die A Hero Or Live Long Enough To Become A Villain
Option: “I’ll be right behind you.”
“I’ll be right behind you, alright? You just need to stay in front of me so I can see your bright jacket through the smoke!” A lied, knowing that their (hidden) injuries would just slow the pair down. Reluctantly, B turned and began heading towards the entrance as the building/cave/ship began to crumble. They make it out just as an explosion blocks the exit they’d just emerged from.
B turns with a smile on their face for escaping the close-call... only for their expression to drop when they realise A wasn’t there with them.
“B? B?” C called, rushing over having appeared at the scene not too long ago.
“A.” B whimpered, eyes watering from the smoke and their own fear. C’s heart dropped.

Together and Apart - Chapter 2
Vander (15) and Silco (12) find themselves stuck together in a cave-in.
Chapter 2 is up! Read and excerpt under the line.
Vander studies Silco, sitting hunched over with filthy hair covering most of his face. The kid has better chances than Vander, and there is no way this eighty pounds soaking wet kid can drag Vander around.
He knows that Silco knows this too. If he manages to get to the stash, and if the elevator shaft isn't caved in, he could try and shout until someone hears him. He could also climb the shaft walls and, if he's lucky, the upper levels are still free. He could survive. Vander can get his leg splinted and still die here because by the time Silco would get some help to him, if someone even came, he'd be dead anyway.
They both know this.

Day 12: “Can You Hear Me?” (Wind & Warriors)
Ao3 link
Cw for the usual blood and injury
——————————
Wind drags his eyes open with a groan.
Everything hurts for some reason, so badly he wonders if he went for a round or two with a moblin. Maybe broke a leg in the process too because his left one definitely feels broken and…and why can’t he move it?
He tries again, wriggling about in the dark, then cries out as pain rockets up to his thigh. When he reaches down his fingers connect with something thick and sticky.
“Okay,” he says, aloud, voice shaky and small sounding. He clears his throat, tries again. “Okay.”
He’s got this, he’s fine. After all, this isn’t the worse thing he’s been through, not even close.
…only it would be easier to believe that if he knew what this is.
He doesn’t remember what happened in the moments before he blacked out. Well, not completely at least. But when he takes a deep breath, and really thinks, the memories come, hazy and a bit jumbled, yet comprehensible enough.
They’d been exploring an underground passage—which he guesses explains the darkness—but halfway through the Shadow had attacked. And he’d–Wind’s eyes widen as he realizes–he’d brought the walls down on them. He remembers now, how the monster had vanished in a puff of dark smoke, his laughter filling the space, remembers running as rocks and stones and piles of dirt had poured towards them, remembers tripping, falling, and Time turning around, reaching out to help him up. And then, everything had gone dark.
He worries his bottom lip, peering into the pitch black around him. If he’s stuck here, Time probably is too. He was too close when it happened to have escaped. Still, Wind hopes he isn’t. He’s only been awake for a few minutes, and already the experience is less than enjoyable.
He shifts a bit, wincing as his leg protests, and digs into his pouch. It takes some more (very painful) maneuvering, but soon his fingers close around a familiar, circular object. He draws it out, holding it up by the rope twined around it. Its luminous glow reflects off the weathered stone surrounding him.
There’s a lot less room in the space than he realized, and Wind can’t help but think he was better off without that knowledge. He’s glad to have the light, though, however minimal it may be. With its aid, it doesn’t take him long to find Time. The older man lies on his back a short distance away, limp, silent, and pale. His eyes are closed, face slack with unconsciousness, and when Wind leans closer, he can see a trail of blood running from his forehead down his cheek, the dark color stark against his skin.
He’s never seen him look quite so lifeless before.
Fear rises within him, and he leans forward a bit more, squirming to try and see better. It's difficult to assess the situation when he can hardly two inches in front of his face, even more so with the incessant throb in his leg making him see stars.
“Time?” He brings up a hand, stifling his coughs. Dust grates painfully in his throat. “T-time can you hear me? Are you okay?”
A moment passes, then another, and no response comes.
“Old man?”
Again, nothing. He tries to stretch further, craning his neck to look for some sign of life, but with the rock still pinning him down Wind can only reach so far. He pulls back, panic constricting his throat. From here he thinks he can see a subtle rise and fall of Time’s chest. He thinks he can. But even if he’s right, it’s far too little of a movement to be healthy.
Wind brushes away the tears sprung from pain and frustration and gnawing fear. He has to get them out of here, before it’s too late.
There’s no way he can lift these rocks, not on his own, not like this. Besides, even if he could, that would likely end in disaster. But there are other…less active ways to save the day.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, he holds his crystal close to his face, and prays Wild is listening.
“Wild?” His voice cracks and he swallows, nearly choking on the dust still caught in his throat. “Wild, can you hear me?”
A few moments slide by, each one more agonizing than the next, then, “Wind?! Sailor, is that you?”
Relief rushes through him and Wind grins. “It’s me! I’m here!”
“You’ve had us really worried,” Wild says, his own relief palpable in his tone. “Where are you?”
“I’m somewhere under the rubble.” Wind squints at the rock above his head. “I can’t tell where. It’s pretty dark.”
“Okay, we’ll find you.” Wild is moving now, he can hear his footsteps, mingling with animated talking in the background. “Are you okay? Are you injured at all?”
He shifts again, trying once more to maneuver himself out from under the rock. But it’s wedged just as tightly as before.
“My leg’s stuck. I think it’s broken, but other than that I’m fine.” His gaze drifts to Time once more. “Time’s down here with me, though, and he’s unconscious.” He pauses for a moment, swallows. “I can’t tell if he’s breathing.”
It’s Warriors’ voice that answers him now. “It’s okay, Sailor. We’ll find you both and get you out. Just hang tight, and don’t move around too much. That rubble isn’t stable.”
At that moment, there’s a loud creak and the stone above him slides downward. Wind has to duck to avoid bumping his head on it. He scowls.
Oh, great, now there’s even less room.
“Wind, what’s going on? Is it coming down on you?” There’s an edge of panic in Warriors’ tone now.
“No,” Wind replies, “but it’s getting kinda cramped in here. Could you guys hurry it up a little?”
“We’ll go as fast as we can. Hold on.”
Wind leans back, trying to gain some more room. He never considered himself claustrophobic before, but now he’s rethinking that assumption. Then again, he thinks pretty much anybody would feel squished if they were stuck in a collapsed passage. Especially when it’s this hard to breathe.
He isn’t sure it was this hard before the rock moved. Maybe it was and he just hadn’t noticed. But now dragging in air feels positively impossible. And as time moves along at the speed of a slug, it only grows worse. By the time Warriors’ voice crackles through the crystal again, he’s beginning to feel oddly groggy.
“Hey, Sailor. How’re you holding up?”
Wind closes his eyes, despite the alarm bells ringing in the back of his mind, warning him that that’s not a good idea.
“Okay,” he mumbles. “Gettin kinda hard to breathe.”
He wonders if Time’s having this problem too. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t woken up yet…if he’s even going to wake up at all.
No, don’t think like that! He’s gonna be fine. You’re both gonna make it out of here!
You’ve just gotta hold on, like the captain said.
…but in the meantime a nap won’t hurt. Right?
Warriors says something about staying with him, but Wind can’t fully comprehend the words. He’s tired, so, so tired.
He’s just slumping forward, just letting go, when light cascades into the space, followed by the deafening clamor of voices and movement. Strong arms wrap around him and Wind blinks open his eyes to stare up into Warriors’ face. A small grin lifts the captain’s lips.
“We’re gonna get you out of there, Sailor. Just hold tight.”
Wind nods, dazedly. “Time–”
“We’re gonna get him out too.” Warriors holds him close, and Wind sags into him, exhaustion still weighing heavy. “Now, take a deep breath, this might hurt.”
And Wind clings to him as at last, they lift the stone off and set him free. It does hurt, quite a bit, but when it’s over and the captain lifts him from the rubble, he has to admit he’s never been so thankful to see the sky as he is right now.

Whumptober day 12— cave in
I only had the idea for this late last night and that’s also when I wrote most of it and I’m very tired so basically abdshjkldsgjkdkjg
No warnings really
Ao3 link
————————————————————
“Hey, did you hear that?”
Twilight paused at Wind’s question, twitching an ear up.
All he could hear was faint birdsong in the trees above them, and the wind blowing sharply through the tall canyon they were walking through. Also Wild and Legend’s faint conversation from in front of them, but nothing out of the ordinary.
“No, what was it?” he asked curiously, and Wind shrugged as Hyrule walked up.
“I don’t know. I thought it was like, a rocky sound? Sort of?” he shrugged. “I don’t know, somebody probably just kicked a pebble off the cliff.”
Hyrule chuckled. “So long as it’s not an enemy, I think we’re—“
The traveler suddenly froze, pulling to an abrupt stop.
Twilight and Wind stopped as well, giving him worried looks, and Hyrule appeared to strain his ears, listening intently. Twilight pricked his own ears, and picked up a faint noise, almost like a cracking sound, coming somewhere from along the edge of the canyon.
Twilight realized what it was at the same time as Hyrule, who’s eyes went wide.
They both began to run forwards to where Legend and Wild were walking a good ways in front of them, seemingly oblivious of any danger.
“Champion! Veteran! MOVE!” Hyrule screamed, and as the two heroes whipped around, the canyon walls around them suddenly caved in, huge rocks and debris raining down on them.
Twilight met terrified eyes with Legend for just a second before the rocks and dust blocked him from view, the canyon walls roaring with noise. Hyrule continued to run towards them, face twisted with desperation, but Twilight reached out and pulled him back, narrowly stopping him from being crushed by a large boulder.
He threw the two of them under a safe-enough looking overhang, and covered Hyrule’s head as the collapsing rocks roared around them, dust blocking the light.
It seemed like hours before the rumbling finally stopped and pebbles quit falling in on them, and Hyrule and Twilight shoved their way out of the alcove and looked around.
No sign of Wild or Legend.
Thick, cloying fear rose in Twilight’s throat as he looked out across the devastation, huge piles of rocks and dirt, a few trees pulled into the mix.
How on earth could they have survived that?
“Guys!”
Wind and the rest of the heroes ran up to where they were standing, and Hyrule seemed to snap out of his shock, throwing himself out of Twilight’s arms and shoving rocks and debris out of the path as fast as he could.
“Where are Wild and Legend?” gasped Sky, and Twilight only shook his head and began to help Hyrule dig.
Sky pulled out some thick looking gloves with claws on the ends and began to help, and Four pulled out a similar pair as well. The others all started to dig into the rocks, occasionally having to stop when debris shifted, and Twilight ignored the fact that he was absolutely panicking and continued to dig.
Wild and Legend were somewhere underneath all of this, he’d found dozens of huge boulders that could have crushed both of them, what if they—
“...k...p...”
Twilight froze, and motioned the other Links near him to stop digging.
“What was that?” Four asked quietly, and Twilight shushed him, looking around with his ears pricked.
“...ick...up...!...”
Six pairs of eyes slowly focused on Wind, who was looking around in utter confusion at the voice that seemed to be coming from his direction.
“WIND PICK UP!”
The sailor jumped at the shout and grabbed at the necklace around his neck, staring in hope at the small bluish rock.
A crackly version of Legend was just barely visible in the stone.
“Legend! Are you and Wild okay?” Hyrule gasped as he joined Wind’s side, and Twilight heard Legend cough.
“I’m alright,” he croaked, voice cutting out off and on as he spoke. “Champion got cracked on the head....too dark to really....unconscious. You digging us out?”
“Yeah, we’re digging you out, just hold on,” Warriors said, and Legend coughed again.
“Good. Cause I don’t know how much longer I can keep the roof up.”
The Links all threw themselves back into their work, Wind regularly checking in on Legend. The veteran’s voice grew weaker the longer they took, and Twilight’s panic only grew, his hands shaking as he practically threw rocks out of the way.
“Here!”
Twilight moved closer to Hyrule, who was shoving his hand into a small hole.
“I think this is it!”
Twilight began to help him, clearing the debris more carefully now that there was a chance this could be where Legend and Wild were. He and Hyrule together shifted a huge rock to the side, and suddenly there they were. Twilight peered in, and caught sight of Legend clutching Wild with one hand while the other gripped a rod of some kind, a bright orange block holding the rocks back above their heads.
Wild had blood in his hair and wasn’t moving, and Twilight shoved rocks out of the way even faster, noting the way Legend’s arm shook.
“‘bout time you all got here,” the veteran coughed when he caught sight of them, voice raspy and weak.
The other heroes all converged on the spot, carefully clearing out what rocks they could so they could fish Wild and Legend out. It was slow going due to the way the rocks were piled, and they had several close calls where if a certain boulder had been moved it would have been disastrous.
Legend suddenly grunted and swayed a bit, and the rocks above him and Wild shifted, sending a couple stones down with an ominous rumbling noise.
“Move,” Twilight said quickly to Sky who was digging next to him, and he crawled into the hole they’d cleared, pebbles landing in his hair as he went.
He reached Wild and Legend, and the veteran gave him a small smirk.
“Fancy seeing you here,” he grunted, then let out a ragged cough.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” Twilight smirked back, and pulled Wild into his arms. “I’ll be right back, hold on.”
Legend gave a nod of acknowledgment, and Twilight began to crawl back out of the hole, Wild tucked securely against him. He pulled the champion out and handed him carefully over to the others waiting outside, them plunged back in.
He was halfway back to Legend when the ground heaved under him, throwing him the rest of the way into the air pocket. Actual large rocks were falling on him now, and Twilight knew he was going to have more than one bruise in the morning.
“Time to go!” he shouted at Legend, who looked downright pale.
He pulled the veteran into his arms, feeling him shake against him as he practically threw himself back up the hole. A huge rock slammed into the ground behind them, and Twilight winced as a good-sized one hit his shoulder.
He scrambled out of the hole and heard Warriors shout for everyone to get back, the canyon wall beginning to crumble behind them again. Legend still shook with exertion in his arms, clutching the rod in his hands with a white-knuckled grip, and Twilight spared a glance down at him as he dodged rocks from above.
“Legend, you can let go,” Twilight said once they’d gotten farther away, but Legend shook his head.
“Not yet. Need to get more, farther away,” he gritted out, face sweaty and pale. “Whole place is going to come down once I let go.”
Twilight sped his steps even more and soon met up with the others, who’d taken shelter in a solid-looking spot while Hyrule and Warriors looked over Wild. Twilight slid to his knees, gently setting Legend down, and the veteran finally released the magic that had been holding up the rocks.
A huge crashing noise came from where they’d just been trapped, and Legend fell back against Twilight’s lap, breathing shallowly.
Twilight took a second to take a deep breath, and reassure himself that everyone was alive.
“That was quite a trick,” he said in a relieved voice, watching Hyrule fix up Wild as much as he could. “Was that a magic rod? Or a ring or something?”
“Item,” Legend breathed, eyes drooping, “haven’t used it in a while. Magic’s rather... low, now.”
Twilight nodded, and gave Legend’s shoulder a squeeze. “Well you can rest now, you and Wild are safe. Thanks for watching out for him.”
Legend faintly chuckled.
“Don’ thank me, thank... cane of Somaria,” he muttered, and Twilight squeezed his shoulder again as he passed out.
