CBSE Class 12 Syllabus

Class 12 is an important stage for every student in their career. The students need to work hard for the entire year to score good marks in the board examination. Owing to the Covid-19 situation, the board has reduced the syllabus for the academic year 2021-22 and divided the examination into two terms, as per the Special Scheme of Assessment for Classes 10 and 12 for the academic year 2021-22.

Updated CBSE class 12 Syllabus For all Subjects 2021-22

The revised CBSE class 12 syllabus for Mathematics includes a new topic, i.e., Data Handling. It consists of data representation, collection, and data analysis. The weightage of class 11 topics in the board exams have been increased and the weightage of class 12 topics has been reduced.

In Physics, two new elective subjects have been introduced in the CBSE 2022 syllabus for class 12 and class 11.  These elective subjects are Electronics and Communication (EC) and Computer Science (CS).

In the revised syllabus for Chemistry, the CBSE has reduced 50 marks carried by the experimental questions in Physical Chemistry (section A).

The revised class 12 syllabus for Biology includes an additional topic under Ecology, namely, ‘Ecological Interrelationships’, which highlights the importance of an ecosystem. The old syllabus of biotechnology has been revised to ‘Microbes and bioremediation’ and it includes genetic engineering, recombinant DNA technology, synthetic biology etc.

The revised CBSE 12 syllabus for English for 2021-2022 saw a reduction of 50 marks from section A (Prose). Similarly, for Hindi, the revised syllabus comprises two sections, namely, prose and poetry, carrying the weightage of 150 and 100 marks, respectively.

The CBSE class 12 syllabus for Accountancy for 2021-22 again saw a reduction in 50 marks from section A (Financial reporting and Analysis).

For Business Studies, the CBSE board exam consists of two sections, namely, business environment and practices (BEP) & management accounting. The marks weightage are 150 and 100 marks, respectively.  

CBSE class 12 syllabus for physical education consists of four compulsory papers. There is a reduction of 50 marks from section A.

The revised syllabus of Economics for 2021-22 consists of two sections, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Again, there has been a reduction of 50 marks from section A (Microeconomics).

The revised CBSE class 12 syllabus for Political science for 2022 consists of four compulsory papers, each carrying 100 marks, and the duration for finishing each paper is 90 minutes. There has been a reduction of 50 marks from section A (Political Science).

The revised syllabus for Biotechnology is now known as ‘Microbes and Bioremediation’, and it includes genetic engineering, recombinant DNA technology, synthetic biology etc. the CBSE board exam 2021-22 consists of two sections- life sciences and non-life sciences. The marks distribution is 150 marks and 100 marks, respectively. The duration for each subject is 3 hours.

The CBSE class 12 syllabus for computer science was revised similarly. The board exam for the session 2021-22 will consist of four compulsory papers. The marks allocated for each paper are 100, to be completed in 90 minutes duration. There has been a reduction of 50 marks from section A (Computer Science).

Jul 22, 2022 14:50 IST New Delhi , July 22 (AF): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated all the students who have passed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 exams and urged them to follow their inner calling and pursue subjects they are passionate about. In a series of tweets, PM Modi hailed students and said they prepared for these exams during a time when humanity faced a monumental challenge and achieved this success. "Congratulations to all my young friends who passed the CBSE Class XII exams. The grit and dedication of these youngsters is commendable. They prepared for these exams through a time when humanity faced a monumental challenge and achieved this success," he said. The Prime Minister further said there are innumerable opportunities that await the young exam warriors, who passed the Class 12 exams. "There are innumerable opportunities that await our young Exam Warriors, who passed the CBSE Class XII exams. I urge them to follow their inner calling and pursue subjects they are passionate about. My best wishes for their future endeavours," the PM said. He also said that some students may not be happy with their results but they must know that one exam will never define who they are. Earlier in the morning, the CBSE declared the Class 12 board results in which girls have outshined boys by 3.29 per cent. Girls outperformed boys with an overall pass percentage of 94.54 per cent, while boys secured 91.25 per cent. Over 33,000 students scored above 95 per cent, while 1.34 lakh got above 90 per cent. The overall pass percentage was 99.37 per cent in 2021 as compared to 92.71 per cent this year. A total of 1435366 students appeared for the exam of which 1330662 have passed. 92.71 per cent of students have passed the CBSE 12 board examination. Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala has recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.83 per cent followed by Bengaluru with 98.16 per cent, Chennai with 97.79 per cent, Delhi east and Delhi West with 96.29 per cent. However, Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj has recorded the lowest pass percentage at 83.71 per cent. Meanwhile, 4.72 per cent of students have been placed in the compartment. This year, the board conducted exams in two terms, that is, Term 1 and Term 2. 30 per cent weightage was given to Term 1 exams and 70 per cent weightage to Term 2. This year, the board will issue the merit certificate to 0.1 per cent of students who have scored the highest marks in the subjects. However, as per the earlier decision of the Board to avoid unhealthy competition amongst the students, no merit list will be declared. In this regard, it is also informed that Board is not awarding first, second or third division to its students. A network of glands that make hormones which help cells talk to each other is known as the endocrine system. Almost every, organ, cell, and function in our body is a product of the endocrine system. You might have problems developing during puberty, or while getting pregnant or managing stress, if your endocrine system for any reason is not healthy. You might have weak bons, or lack energy, or gain weight easily since a lot of the sugar stays in your blood, rather than moving into our cells where it’s needed for energy.

DEFINITION OF A GLAND

An organ that makes and puts out hormones that do a specific job in your body is called a gland. Exocrine and endocrine glands release the substances that they made into your bloodstream.

FUNCTIONS OF THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

Your endocrine systems control your development and growth, moods, organs, metabolism and reproduction. It also controls the how your hormones are released in the body. So that they can travel to other parts of the body, the endocrine system sends these hormones into your bloodstream.

PARTS OF THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

There are many glands that make up the endocrine system. The pineal gland, the hypothalamus, and pituitary gland are present in your brain. The parathyroid and the thyroid glands are present in your neck. The thymus is present in between your lungs, the pancreas is behind your stomach and the adrenals are top of your kidneys. If you are a woman, your ovaries are in your pelvic region, similarly if you are a man, your testes are present in your pelvic region.

HYPOTHALAMUS

Your endocrine system is connected with your nervous system by this organ. To tell the pituitary glands to stop or start making hormones is its main job.

PITUITARY GALND

This is known as the master gland of your endocrine system. It tells the other glands what to do based on the information that it gets from your brain. Many important hormones such as growth hormone; prolactin, the hormone which helps breastfeeding moms make milk; the hormone which controls blood pressure and helps control body water balance through its effect on the kidney, the antidiuretic hormone; ACTH / corticotrophin, the adrenocorticotrophic hormone, that stimulates the adrenal gland to make certain hormones; TSH thyroid stimulating hormones that stimulates the secretion and production of thyroid hormones; oxytocin is that which helps milk ejection during breast feeding; and the hormone which manages testosterone in men and estrogen in women, the luteinizing hormone., are all made by the pituitary glands.

THYROID GLAND

The thyroid hormone is made by this gland, it controls your metabolism and growth. In a condition called hypothyroidism, if this gland is not able to make enough thyroid hormone, then everything in your body happens slowly. You could get constipates, or your heart rate may slow down, and you might also gain weight. Now on the other hand in a condition called hyperthyroidism, if they thyroid gland makes too much thyroid hormones then you your heart might race, or you could have diarrhoea and even without trying you might lose weight. Calcitonin is another hormone that is produced by the thyroid glands. They help calcium to be incorporated into the bones, and thus contribute to bone strength.

PARATHYRIOD

A set of four small glands behind your thyroid is the parathyroid glands. As these glands control your levels of phosphorus and calcium, they play a vital role in bone health.

THYMUS

With blood cells called as T-lymphocytes are made by this gland. The white blood cells fight infections and are crucial when a child’s immune system is developing. After puberty the thymus starts to shrink.

ADRENALS

These glands are best known to make epinephrine or more commonly known as the fight or flight t hormone, adrenaline. Corticosteroid hormones are also made by these two glands. These hormones affect your heart rate, metabolism, oxygen intake, sexual function, and blood flow among other things.

PANCREAS

This organ is both a part of your endocrine system and your digestive system. Digestive enzymes are made by it, which break down food. Hormones like glucagon and insulin are also made by it. These two hormones make sure that you have enough or the right amount of sugar in your body.

OVARIES

These organs make progesterone and estrogen in women. These are hormones that help in developing breasts at puberty, support pregnancy and regulate the menstrual cycle.

TESTES

Testes make testosterone in men. During puberty it helps them grow facial and body hair. It also plays a major role in making sperm and tells the penis when it has to grow larger.
