CELESTIAL BODIES IS NOW OUT! GO GET IT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our (myself and @basilisika's) mecha game is FINALLY OUT! Go get it here!
(You may have read my post about The Grid™️ a little while ago. This is that!)
We're running an itchfund to raise a little so we can devote the time and energy to create our full vision of what this game can be. The stuff you're seeing here is only a fraction of this game's potential: please help us get the whole way. In exchange, you'll get the Terrestrial Edition right now (a playable version with the base concepts and a smattering of content to get you started). If you give us a little more we'll make more content for you too! Weapons, factions, and even new Frames entirely are on the table.
(We also have community copies available, and those higher tiers will unlock more too.)
What are you waiting for! Go get it!

The first of two light frames for my upcoming mecha TTRPG, Celestial Bodies.
Light//Flash is the smallest, fastest frame available. Most every other frame's default loadout uses some space to equip shields or armor to defend their most vital components.
This mech is not for the faint of heart.

Full moon this morning during the penumbral eclipse. I could hardly see a difference, just that slight darkening toward the lower left.

Celestial Bodies is a fast paced meka combat tabletop RPG written by Charlotte Laskowski and Binary Star Games about humanity’s long struggle to colonize the universe and what will become of them. You are lamplighters, a once-reverent name for the union of pilot and mech, flesh and steel, serving a home-ship, and for it, you will do anything to keep yours alive.

Turn your heart to the stars
Fun fact: Those of us taught the "nine planets" thing between 1979-1999 were lied to (in a way). Not just because of Pluto's weird status, but because it was the eighth planet from the sun during those two decades. Its orbit is so off kilter to the rest of the planets that it switches positions (relative to the sun, not orbits) with Neptune.
Tumblr media
And remember kids, Pluto isn't a planet unless Ceres, Makemake, Haumea, and Eris are, too! Ceres was discovered 129 years before Pluto (1801 vs 1930), Eris is slightly bigger (and was going to become the 10th planet, which sparked the need for further classification in what constitutes a planet), Makemake and Haumea are bigger than Ceres.
Ceres and Makemake* doesn't have [known] moons, so maybe you can ignore them for being little and moonless (rude--Ceres was originally classified as a planet, just like Pluto!), but Eris definitely deserves its name remembered. *(Makemake does have a known moon!)
Tumblr media
We may actually have up to fifty dwarf planets (which are still planets, just little) in our solar system, and either a massive exoplanet that we can't see yet or a teeny black hole (5cm) out past Neptune, based on the same kind of data that originally found Pluto! (It wasn't actually seen for quite a while after its existence was hypothesized by its effects on the orbits of Neptune and Uranus).
Anyway, hope you enjoyed learning with me!

Nature: Heavenly Bodies
Sometimes in astronomy, a heavenly body has been virtually invisible until a single observer detects its presence and points it out to his colleagues, who then see it with increasing clarity. Perhaps a myriad of unknown senses are only awaiting our consciousness.

Thinking about the angelic choir of virtues, who’s job is to govern the celestial bodies. All the stars I see and all the ones little Jesus saw, have a virtue angel keeping it in it place, as its light twinkles light years gone back to us. Amazing.

Hey im new here. WHAT is the Celestial flesh that the prince ate? And why did that make the sea dragon mad? (Sorry for not using their names btw im VERY bad at names and already forgot them 😭😭)
I totally understand, any new media takes me a while to get the names sorted :p
Here’s a link to an ask I answered a while back about it; https://mossymandibles.tumblr.com/post/712960549846220800/sorry-for-so-many-asks-but-have-you-already
I’ll be honest though I’ve tweaked a little bit of the story since then where it flows more smoothly for me and gave more opportunities plot wise? 😅
I named the celestial body on land ‘Yvishnir’ while the one in the sea is ‘Tartarus’. Other people of other cultures have different names ofc but those are like, the common ones.
I changed it where Yvishnir is uncovered from deep inside the earth after Tartarus crash landed and terraformed the earth into what is now called Mors-Astra. Woo! (I’ve mostly written about it in my toyhouse, but that isn’t public yet. I have a hard time gaging how much info to share post to post.)
For most Furies (which is what Sobehk, the prince is) it’s now heresy to eat the celestial flesh, or to eat carcasses in general essentially. They believe it only harbors madness and infects the host in horrific ways. They also feel like it’s below them and reduces them to common scavenging birds.
There’s been so many generations of Furies since Yvishnir was uncovered though, and Zenith (the continent where they all live) is so far away from the body that they’ve seemingly tried to avoid talking about it altogether, where only a few elders know of it and what it can do.
And it’s not that Yuna (the sea drake) gets mad so much as Sobehk begins to noticeably change over time, so to speak.
