I couldn't help purchasing the Yale University Press book pictured above even though I found the subject somewhat amusing for a scholarly thesis. But, what amazes me the most is that the author all but ignores Cellini's statue of Perseus holding up the head of Medusa in the Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence. As anyone can see, this Perseus has one of the most bodacious butts in Renaissance art.
