Also, Chimpanzees are always KOS (Kill On Sight), unlike most predators (like lions, tigers, bears…), who are to preferred to be tranquilized and captured if escaped/harmed anyone.
Chimpanzees are extremely homicidal and dangerous, and has been known for attacking and plotting to attack people and zookeepers, and they run off of a hierarchy so.. that's that. Tranquilizing them would just worsen everything and cause more harm to everyone else around them.
Some of their most infamous ways of harm are; ripping faces off, ripping out an eye, ear, or even a nose, ripping off testicles, chunks of rear ends, dismembering of fingers and toes... And they do this to each other, too, not just people. They've also been known for mauling people/animals/themselves just because. It's like a fun little activity for them
I say this because of this story I've heard;
A new zookeeper saw one of the chimps in its enclosure sticking out its hand for food, rather politely, and she was going to do it.. Until a more experienced zookeeper came up to her and stopped her immediately. He pointed in the enclosure, and an older chimpanzee was hiding where she couldn't see.
Basically, if she stuck her arm in that enclosure, it would've gotten ripped off and probably worse. And the chimp seemed disappointed when it realized she saw him, according to witnesses. They just wanted to play a little prank on the newbie
