Ceru of the Cerulean Cat’s Tail

Ramshackle’s Resident…of sorts.

Mage of Misery.

They lurk with the ghosts, hiding behind worn, tattered sheets of pearly white, edges yellowed with time. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of them through Ramshackle’s windows. A blur of white darting around.

No one really knows what Ceru is. Or what they’re there for. Ceru is just… another weird thing about Ramshackle Dorm. A freeloader in an abandoned dorm. No one bothered them, in fear of the ghosts.

They did prefer it that way.

Well, up until Prefect came along….

Name: Ceru Marple

Dominant hand: Right-handed

About them: Ceru’s a mage. They specialise in potions, considering their lacklustre magic. Opting to hurl vials of potions rather then spells, they’re certainly an odd duck. Someone who feels everything way too strongly, they’ll burst out laughing and crying at the drop of a hat. Honest to a fault, Ceru’s emotions run red hot. Much too intense for anyone to comprehend.

Favourite food: char kuey tiao

Backstory: The last thing they remember was heat. The way it seared their skin, bubbling fat melting right off them. Forked tongues of flame lapping at their feet, scorching their robes to a charcoal black.

Fire consumes.

Heat simply prolongs the torture.

Hands tied behind their back, stray strands of straw piercing deep into Ceru’s flesh, stinging like a thousand bees. Strapped to a wooden stake, doomed to be consumed by the flames.

It’ll cleanse their sins, the town’s people said.

God will forgive Ceru’s existence.

By burning them off the face of the planet.

At this point, there’s really nothing much to be done. Run? They’ll catch Ceru eventually. Hide? They’ll find Ceru. Ceru can only burn.

If they have to perish by fire, at the very least…

Let them burn bright.

As the roar of the flames drummed in their ears, they heard something else. The gallop of horses, charging towards them. A rickety old carriage, seemingly fashioned out of the night sky itself. Oh, it was ebony black. The colour of death. If Ceru yelled, it’ll notice them. Take them away… to somewhere. No guarantee that they would survive.

But honestly?

Anywhere’s better then here.
