For my next future playthrough, I’ll be playing as my corporate male oc Stefano Russo. In Vera’s storyline, he’s one a side character, but I’ve decided to try my hand in playing him as V, and I’ve got...several ideas. He’s a heavy hitter who wields assault rifles with frightening efficiency and uses mantis blades as a last resort. One of seven brothers, he grew up in the cold glamor of the corporate world, and like his father before him, he worked as an Arasaka employee until he was unceremononiously booted out. 

Disowned by his family and out of a job, Stefano had no choice but to rely on his acquaintance Jackie Welles for work as a mercenary and so far, he’s thriving in his newfound freedom. Once a grade-A dick who didn’t give a shit about the little people, Stefano is slowly beginning to rediscover his humanity and, with the help of a certain rocker boy, a strong desire to burn down the system.

I will probably go for the Star Ending because he ends up in a healthy poly relationship with Panam and Vera. Yes, Vera is relevant in his story, but this is set in a universe where she never met Jackie and instead joined up with the Aldecados after her family split. She and Panam become girlfriends thick as thieves and are constantly giving Saul a migraine.

Used this Picrew to create one of my Cyberpunk 2077 side characters, Stefano Russo. For those who haven’t heard of him he’s a Corporate agent whose sole desire is to own Night City and mold it into his image. He’s my V’s contact (he gives her jobs every now and then) and her lover...possibly her future husband, but that’s a story for another day. Stefano is an ambitious and cultured man who is dissatisfied with his lot in life and desires to finish what Richard Night started.

Not exactly random but just a question i had! If Vera were to actually date someone (like an in-game Li or just someone else period) who wasnt Stefano how would Stefano react? If he reacts so bad to Jackie i can't imagine how he would react to that

Whoo, boy. Where to begin...

Stefano uses jealousy as a ploy to get Vera closer to him. He thinks that if he shows her just how much better he is than the LI she’s interested in, she’ll stop doing things to make him jealous.

I know, this sounds messed up ( It is messed up), but in his mind, he thinks that it’s Vera’s fault that he’s feeling jealous. This is a big tell for Stefano because he’s not usually so childish, but negative emotions like jealousy will turn him into a child with too much time and money on his hands.

Stefano will also be much more affectionate with her at first. This is to try to get Vera to be more affectionate with him ( and less chummy with whoever he’s jealous of ). If this doesn’t work, Stefano will say, “Screw it!” and start being flirty with everyone he comes across, even if he’s not interested in them.

He wants Vera to know that two people can play the jealousy game, which is an awful, childish game to play, but unfortunately, he will realize this and feel ridiculous. Stefano will also be incredibly passive-aggressive, which tends to be his biggest tell when he’s jealous. Even if he doesn’t want to let Vera know what he’s really feeling, he’ll most likely end up saying something like, “Why don’t you ask your new squeeze to go out for drinks later?” And if Vera pushes back on his childishness, he’ll get combative and argue with her to try to defend himself. All in all, Stefano gets straight-up messy when he’s jealous, which is not cute.

And Vera doesn’t really care because the two of them aren’t in a relationship. Having casual sex with him doesn’t mean that she’s his girlfriend or his wife. So why should she care about his jealousy?

Surprisingly, Stefano is very traditional when it comes to dating, usually preferring to talk about finances, living arrangements, and the future as a couple at the beginning of the relationship. Vera, on the other hand, doesn't like to live by society's rules, instead preferring to take each thing as it comes and live freely.

The reason why they fight so much is because Stefano wants something more with Vera, while Vera shies away from it. Instead of being able to openly talk about whatever's bothering her, Vera prefers to work through problems alone, which makes Stefano frustrated that he’s never going to crack the hard shell around her heart.

There’s not a lot that can separate Stefano from his goals. Like a lion, once he sinks his teeth into something, no one else is going to even try to take that thing away from him. By “take away” I don’t mean just physically. People can insert their opinions, try to cut him down, and generally let him know that they don’t see success in his future, but all of that is just talk.

The one thing he’ll never do is settle for second best. Stefano didn’t just get to where he is today because he decided to take a backseat to achieving his goals. He didn’t do it then and he certainly isn’t going to start doing it now. Let people hate, let them be jealous, he’s gonna’ be over here getting money and making moves.

Not only is Stefano a huge fan of cuddling Vera, but he’s kind of a pro at it. He knows just where to lay his arm so Vera isn’t uncomfortable, and he knows how to keep her warm, but not so warm that she'll want to push him away.

He’s even got some very magical fingers that know just how to play with her curly hair and give her goosebumps. If there were Cuddle Olympics, Stefano would definitely get the gold.

Of course, you should know that Stefano is not a common cuddler. He also loves to play fight and tease Vera in public so that she knows that he doesn’t just want to hold her, he wants to show her how much he cares for her. Whenever they walk down the street, he always has his arm around her or holds her hand in his car, and he'll even rest his head on her lap when the two of them are watching television together.

Stefano is definitely a charmer and a sweet talker. He likes Vera’s family because he knows how to get them to like him with a few choice phrases. It’s soft, subtle manipulation that would make Vera’s tribe hate him less.

If she were to ask him point-blank, he will probably be ambivalent about the whole thing. Stefano is just really good at using his winning charms to make friends and meet new people – whether they’re Vera’s family or just a stranger. To him, it’s important to make an effort no matter who he’s meeting. The fact that it’s Vera’s family means he cares more than usual.

I’m going to be honest... It is unlikely for Vera and Stefano to ever fall into a proper romantic relationship. They differ too greatly to find anything in common that is worthy of making them believe they will last as a couple. A lack of trust for one another would make it hard for Vera and Stefano to survive in a relationship. As a nomad, Vera dislikes being constrained, and therefore can find herself regularly outright rejecting Stefano’s desire for something more...stable. It is only their shared willingness to respect one another and their individuality that will keep the relationship alive.

Granted, Stefano is always willing to make sacrifices to make a relationship work when he cares about someone, but Vera is too stuck in her ways for Stefano to feel like his sacrifices will be appreciated. In the event that they make it past their differences and fall in love ( which they will. It’s just going to take them years to figure it out ), Stefano will be more open minded and eager to accept Vera’s nomadic background. Vera needs freedom to do things her way and Stefano will slowly start to understand and oblige by this.

In Stefano’s mind, he’s perfect and all of his decisions are as perfect as him, so if there should be something in his life that isn't working according to his plan, it has to be someone else's fault.

The well-known perfectionism of Stefano runs deep; he does not ever see himself as anything less than golden, and he finds it impossible to take responsibility for the things in his life that don't work out. No matter what, it's the other person who did it. They are the ones who did it to him.

Stefano won’t give up on Vera because she’s a risk that he’s willing to take. Vera may not see herself as a risk or even someone slightly thrilling in the least, but he sees her as someone who gets his heart racing as much as a roller-coaster does. Stefano is not a gambling man, and losing Vera is a risk he isn't willing to take. He would much rather know what the future will hold instead of diving into the unknown, and with Vera by his side, he’s ready for anything.

Some random ass facts about Stefano:

- He is the youngest of five brothers who take pleasure in undermining him and treating him like a child in front of his peers.

- His father, Ivan Russo, was a bigshot in the corporate world and raised his sons to be just as ruthless and cunning as him...except his fear of being outshined by his progeny made him cold in his treatment of them.

- The oldest brother, Giovanni Russo, acted as a proper surrogate father figure to his younger brothers and was the sole breadwinner of the family after Ivan was murdered by a business rival.

- At first, Stefano joined the Corporation to make it a better place - work from the inside. But now, at the age of twenty-six, his ideals are tarnished beyond repair and his sole desire is to take over Night City and remake it into his image. A shining utopia. 

- The only people he’s closest to are Giovanni, his private team of Solos and Netrunners, his step-mother, Vera ( the feeling is not entirely mutual ), and a bastard half-sister Ivan kept hidden from the world. Stefano keeps his sister well taken care of and visits her every weekend.

- Stefano is not a nice person. He grew up under the iron first of his father and survived in the corporate world by himself, going by less then favorable means, such as stealing or even killing if necessary to protect his interests and his money. He is aloof and self-serving, hardened because of his deeply troubled childhood. But don’t be fooled by his sad backstory, he WILL screw you over to get to the top and think nothing of it. Don’t take it personally...its just business.

- Stefano’s love life has largely been unsatisfying and strained. Despite attracting many women, he is prone to falling hard for the ones who will never be able to give him a true chance when it comes to a real, successful relationship. However, he is deeply attracted to Vera and genuinely feels something for her.

- He desires her on an emotional level as well as a physical one. Stefano firmly believes that with time and patience she’ll come around. If he’s just patient enough and prove that he’s not a threat to her...maybe, just maybe she’ll look at him the way he looks at her.  

- P.S. Vera is physically attracted to him and “fond” of him but because of his occupation, she does not trust him or like him all that much. Stefano represents the very thing she hates and she keeps him at an emotional distance. To her credit, she does not mock his feelings for her and genuinely enjoys their flirtatious banter, but that’s as far as she’ll go with him.
