in their universe, harley stands alone at tony’s funeral. after ten years of having known each other, harley has to stand there. staring blankly hollowly ahead. shuffling uncomfortable in an ill-fitted suit. around a majority of people he has never met before as he mourns a mentor, a friend, a mechanic.
he has to stand there while people talk about tony stark — this larger than life man who has left behind a larger than life shadow cast on all of their lives, a footprint on all of their hearts — as he only ever thinks about tony the mechanic.
the man who crash - landed in his garage after everyone in the world thought he had died. the man who gave him a way to defend himself against bullies. the man who praised a throwaway idea he had on what the iron man suit could have even if he likely already thought it. the man who let him oversee and aid in the recovery of jarvis despite only being eleven. the man who took out the one thing keeping him alive just to try and save a kid he never met as harley had to scramble to put it back. the man who gave his garage an equipment makeover as a thank you. the man who would stay in his life and check up on him. the man who did more than his own father figure ever could.
in their universe, harley has to go back home and reconcile with the knowledge that the world got everyone back but the people standing in pained agonised silence at the stark lakehouse didn’t.
but in another universe, tony gets to do more.
he gets to be a constant in harley’s life by sending him equipment and checking up on him, but he gets to stay in his life, too.
in another universe, tony gets to see him grow up from this sarcastic child who might be a little too blunt for his age to a young adult who has finally had the opportunity to flourish away from a home that only ever stifled him. harley can credit tony for inspiring him, for making him want to explore his love for technology and mechanical engineering. harley developed a love for cars, and he chose to come back to work with tony. to return to working by his side in what used to be stark motors. to walk the same hallways where tony’s father tried to make the first flying car.
harley was enlisted by tony to join the worldwide engineering brigade. he got to attend stark expo in hong kong with doreen. he and doreen got so inspired by the iron wing and decided to create the web slinger vehicles because of it. he is accredited to making the automation system behind the vehicles and works in designing and debugging. he wanted to put heated seats and a potato gun attachment on the web slinger vehicles.
he made a repulsor blaster in both iron man and rescue colours. he still has dorky potato gun names inspired off of disney puns. he makes a whole assortment of potato - powered and potato - firing weapons including his own stun blaster gauntlet. his locker has a sticker of iron man and stark racing on it with his name spray - painted. it’s been 39 days since the last potato gun incident. he has a spider bot he uses to fight peter during their web battle potluck. his potato guns are all over avengers campus.
he gets to go to a school where he can learn and grow with people who think the way he does, who have a love of science the way he does. he is listed as one of the avengers’ allies, sorted under iron man’s allies.
in another universe, he’s the mechanic’s assistant.

Closed RP with @what-the-stark
Life had been a bit of a mess after the final battle with Thanos. There had been lives lost, complete destruction of the compound that many had called home, not to mention half the population appearing back into a world that had moved on 5 years. The team that had saved the world had disbanded, with each hero going off to do whatever they felt they needed to.
In Bucky's case, he had received a pardon for his crimes committed while under Hydra's control. The only catch was, he had to attend a therapy session every Monday where they would try and figure out a way to make up for what he had done, for the people he had wronged. He had done what he could, tried his hardest but in the end, he knew there was one person he needed to make amends with more than most.
Standing at what had been the front of the Avengers compound, he readied himself for what was about to come. Taking a deep breath, he made his way to find Stark, his hands resting in his pockets so that no one would be able to see that they were shaking.
"Tony?"

"Now that, sounds like something I'd die for right about now." Tony said turning to face the other, spinning on the stall that he always sat on at the barside of the small but quirky place Harleen worked at, currently. Tony had been sat here for a little while now, waiting for the other to finish her shift in his most convincing disguise of sunglasses, old looking baseball cap and a hoodie.

i’ve been thinking about this for a while and it has finally dawned on me how the mcu chose to honor steve rogers and tony stark after their deaths and the contrast between not only the two but also their lives. tony stark spent his whole life trying to right his sins, make up for his and his father’s mistakes, a billionaire loved by no one seen as a pretty rich kid with no morals or care for the world, larger than life itself. steve rogers spent his whole life as america’s sweetheart, the underdog, the people’s man, everyone saw himself in him and the legacy he left. and so far in the mcu their death has been mourned in such vastly different ways than the lives they led. steve was placed solely into the character he played (to most he’s literally just a guy in a suit) and we see this with the government trying to replace him with john walker, Rogers the musical, the statue of liberty getting a shield ect ect his legacy is nothing more than a caricature of who he once was as a person. there’s no substance and his life is celebrated throughout all upper circles, mentioned or honored in every project so far. instead of the people’s man he’s now an untouchable larger than life persona. frame that in contrast to tony stark who the mcu has practically dropped off the face of the earth in regards to talking about his impact and influence but it’s funny because the signs of mourning we do see is in everyday humanity, the little guys so to speak, pictures drawn of him up in classrooms, fading murals on the side of old buildings, and not necessarily a sign of mourning but designs similar to his arc reactor and the likeness of iron man in a rundown garage from an MIT kid from Chicago, he has somehow taken the place of steve rogers in being the face of the people. and it’s funny to look at because they really have practically stopped acknowledging iron man/tony stark at all in the mcu saying bigger names can replace him while also showing that he lives on in the people he saved. which is also interesting to think about because there’s no way the government cares about life and probably was really fucking pissed off that they weren’t able to capitalize off of the stones but i digress. it’s just yeah incredibly interesting to think about the way the mcu world mourned the two in such contrasting ways.

"𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝐼.. 𝐴𝑚.. 𝐼𝑟𝑜𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑛."
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘱 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥.
The last thing he remembered was the snap of his fingers as chaos erupted around them as the final battle raged on, as Tony lie on the ground in his beaten up Iron Man suit, barely clinging to life and nearly on death's doorstep. Weakly, with whatever strength he had left, the time Stone glowered a moment..
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬.
Unbeknownst to him, he'd managed to reverse the worse of the gauntlets effects on his body, at least to the point he wasn't only moments away from taking his last breath. They thought he was gone, and one by one, the avengers knelt in his honor.. Even the infamous Doctor Strange. Though movement was spotted, the former doctor rushed to what that had assumed was Stark's dead body, desperately feeling for a pulse.
𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞.
"I've got a pulse! I'm getting him out of here."
He'd scooped up Tony in his arms, rushing through one of the open portals that led to Wakanda, and they'd rushed him to one of their hospitals where he would receive one of the best treatments in the world, and hope for the best.
𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚..
For several weeks after the final battle the avenger remained comatose as they worked on his body to assess the damage and help him heal, repairing what they could. When he'd hit the month mark they weren't sure he'd wake up.. Until he did.
Hazel eyes slowly blink open, and with a groan he sat up a little, until his gaze landed on to a caped figure. "What the hell happened? Did.. Did we win?" He's quiet a moment after that, voice hoarse from not speaking for so long. "Or am I dead and seeing a handsome angel?" He smirks.
𝘛𝘺𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘬.

ranking random marvel men by how helpful i think they are in domestic settings
tony stark – 0/10 cannot cook cannot clean if you tell me otherwise ill bite you he has never cleaned a day in his life and that's okay.
simon williams – 0/10 has also never cleaned a day in his life and sure as hell won't start now.
thor odinson – 0/10 like he thinks he's being super helpful but he keeps accidentally breaking things and smashing plates and making a mess in the kitchen but he acts real cute about it so nobody gets mad at him really.
bruce banner – 1/10 he does his best but disaster follows him wherever he goes. he can't help it. everything that can go wrong will go wrong. he tries to make a nice meal and the fridge breaks so nothing is cold and the oven destroys the meat and the vegetables all get overboiled and he drops the wine bottle and it smashes on the carpet and and and it's just a bad time. he's doing his best.
roberto da costa – 1/10 you didn't marry him for his domestic skills.
bucky barnes – 2/10 keeps putting knives in random ass places n doesn't tell you.
logan howlett – 3/10 look he's a good cook and remembers to stock the fridge but he tracks blood in like at least once a week and it takes forever to remove from the carpet.
remy lebeau – 4/10 points deducted for not washing himself
bishop – 5/10 he grew up in a dystopia with on rations and it shows. the only thing you're eating with him is rehydrated beef or some shit. keeps the cleanest sparsest environment you've ever seen though
hank pym – 6/10 generally good at cooking, cleaning, buying shit etc but uhhh succumbs to the Horrors bimonthly
pietro maximoff – 7/10 will clean everything that gets messy, he likes a clean environment, but hates buying food vocally and gets kitchen rage when making food, his food is very good though
reed richards – 7/10 has made various machines to do washing, cleaning, cooking, laundry etc but cannot be trusted in a supermarket unattended, struggles to cook generally but can be trusted to make a few really good meals
luke cage – 8/10 i don't think he can cook for shit but he is great for remembering shopping and keeping things clean and tidy and we know he's a great dad so .
scott summers – 8/10 cleans everything, has a photographic memory of what's in the fridge and seems to telepathically know when something is broken or needs replacing but the only thing he serves is soup.
sam wilson – 10/10 good at cooking, remembers groceries, loves hosting people, keeps getting nice expensive wines to enjoy over the weekend as a nice treat from all the captain america shenanigans
steve rogers – 10/10 likes to clean likes to cook enjoys just relaxing and doing chores when not captain america-ing, will absolutely pick up stuff for dinner back from a fight with hydra or whatever

This is such a vulnerable moment where Emma finds Tony in his own head, traumatized and dying, and she refuses to leave him. It's very intimate and beautifully illustrated, and she is risking her life to save him. She saves him, and then he saves her too, repaying the debt.
If I cared about EmmaTony, this moment would mean everything to me.
Since I don't care about EmmaTony and exclusively care about the aesthetics, the moment that means everything to me is this one:

[thenexusofsouls] (from Tony) “ the cost of victory. “
@thenexusofsouls
Finally, Thanos had been defeated. All those years, he had been lingering in the shadows, ready to attack and claim the Infinity Stones for himself. At first he had succeeded and Wanda had been snapped out of existence along with half of the world. When she had returned, it was 5 years later and they were back on the field, ready to fight against a deadly foe. Of course, Wanda had made sure that Tony was safe first, fighting alongside him. But somewhere along the way, they had split up. She had had no idea what his plan had been until it was too late.
As soon as she saw him fall, she raced over. Catching sight of the stones in his suit, her heart immediately sank, her eyes widening as she pulled him in. "No... no Tony you can't... you can't..." Her voice was cracking, tears already starting to fall. The panic was settling in by now as she took in the sight of the destruction the power of the stones had caused to the suit and to her love's face. "Tony, look at me... you can't go, you can't... you promised..."
By now, the others had started to gather around them. Steve had moved in closest, along with Clint to try and ease Wanda away, but she only slapped their hands away. "Don't touch me!" She cried out, her gaze never once leaving Tony's. "I'm not letting him go..."

“  would you just sit still? you’re gonna get an infection if you don’t let me clean this up.  ” -Tony to Eddie @icecoldreactor
@icecoldreactor
"I'm sitting as still as I can, can't help it that the alcohol stings," Eddie muttered, gritting his teeth as Tony continued to wipe over the gash in his arm. Trust him to trip over his own two feet and tumble into some broken glass. He would have tried to clean it up himself but it was in a bit of an awkward spot and Tony had offered, which was why he was sitting there in front of the other, trying to keep as still as he could. "I'm sorry this is how the night ended up... not much fun huh?"
