Finished editing late, as usual, but here's the last of the holocall chapters (for now lmao)!

We get to see a certain purple-saber'd Master—and also, there's some answers that I think some folks have been wondering about for a while.

This Chapter: Mace needs a drink.

“Are you about to be publicly executed?” Windu asks in a rush. “No, Mace, I told you, that’s not what would happen. And it isn’t. I’m fine.” Windu’s eyes flash to Kote. “Commander Cody, eh. Why am I not surprised. Are you there to keep him company during his last miserable days?” In stark contrast to Organa, Windu appears to be too frantic to care about whether Kote’s title is still accurate.

“master, she even laughs at his jokes. and he’s got the worst sense of humor.” she complains, watching you playfully shove anakin’s arm in the distance.

obi wan glances at the pair of you as well, but returns to his work. “yes, it appears she’s taken quite the shining to him.” both obi wan and ahsoka know how specific anakin’s humor is. too niche or too broad and rarely makes anyone but himself amused let alone audibly react. it’s obvious you only find him funny because you like him so much.

“do you think he likes her?” ahsoka muses, leaning her elbow onto a piece of machinery as she watches her master clumsily court you.

“it’s none of our business, ahsoka, you know that.”

she hums, ignoring how sweet she found the two of you. “i bet he does.”

There was obvious turmoil lingering behind Anakin's eyes and it filled Obi-Wan with apprehension. He knew that Anakin was powerful and full of determination and unmatched strength but there was also a shadow there that he was sure should never go unchecked. Anakin was still a boy in so many ways and yet a man in others. As a Jedi he was without comparison and as a General he was brilliant. But what did Obi-Wan think of the heart that beat there in his chest? Why were there so many parts of him that made Obi-Wan feel as though he no longer could reach him. "We do need you, Anakin." He said in an encouraging tone, his brows furrowed and gaze weighted. There was so much that he wanted to say, so much that he wanted to tell him that he understood and maybe even accepted. All of this was unconventional, so much of it was apart of things that should not happen within the Order and yet how could they deny Anakin's place within their ranks even with all of the rules that he very well was breaking? There was no way to do that. Carefully he reached his hand out and clasped Anakin's shoulder, something crestfallen, yet also hopeful, filling him. "But we need you steady, grounded. Can you manage that?" Was he really willing to overlook this? "For me? For your Padawan? For the fate of this war?"
