Few shows are that good on rewatch as Flower of Evil. It's extremely satisfying to analyse how well the first episodes masterfully manipulate you into believing do hyun soo is shady as fuck and maybe the attachment you developed looking at the family's daily life is a big lie. They're the same confusing feelings ji won experiences oscillating between suspicion and guilt (he's the love of your life you can't suspect him of murder), the prelude to the thesis of the series. What do you trust? Do you believe in the love hyun soo has shown in his actions every day (when he himself doesn't)?

I just finished watching flower of evil and boy it broke me 😭 I'm legit sobbing.

I was very silly expecting an easy all-is- well and solved now last episode but whoa

what a ride

I know I'm late to the train, and in all honesty it took me a while to decide to watch it because I thought it was gonna be super heavy, but no, whoa, what a show full of plot twists! And the truth being revealed bit by bit as the characters learn about what happened in the past, so you're always on the edge of your seat to know what happens next and try to understand what really happened back then.

and the unexpected deep romance/chemistry between the leads blended with police investigation and deceit!!

ugh i gobbled up the episodes in a few days but these two are already so precious to me 🥺

It felt So Fitting that one of the most clear memories Hyun Soo got back was a memory from before everything. One of his first memories with Ji Won, not tainted by all the events of the series, to show how he loved her from the very start despite denying it to himself for almost 14 years. And the reveal of the name of his shop was the last hit he needed to realize he must have truly loved Ji Won.

Another beautiful thing about Flower of Evil is, they can deliver a sad ending and that will still be loved and accepted, but they chose to go deeper in addresing Hyun Soo's trauma, showed Ji Won's great love and devotion and gifted them a meaningful start as a family.

It also paints Hyun Soo in a different light without all those lies, allowing Ji Won to see him for who he really is and allows him to accept himself and own his memories with his family that he lived as Hee Sung.

More than that, the last sequence showed Hyun Soo taking a step towards Ji Won and tells her that he will be good to her just like as how she told him before. Hyun Soo, all throughout his life with Jiwon has been nothing but faithful and loving, but he thought it was still a lie.

The ending is his journey towards accepting himself and towards Jiwon. It's also his journey on being accepted by his daughter that he thought wouldn't like him, only to realize that he is loved and being loved.

Just writing this makes me feel a little emotional, because Flower of Evil is a beautiful drama and a masterpiece about love and salvation. It can also take you into issues of morality and ethics and even takes you into a thrilling ride of suspense.

It is a well-crafted drama from top to finish and I'm so grateful and always in awe of its creators and the performances the actors gave us.

So I had this fic idea...

So suppose Hong Hae-in and Hon Cha-young know each other. Both successful and immaculately dressed queens with quirky personalities, besides, who can dislike our Cha-young. Maybe the Hongs used to take help from Cha-young, since she's a Hong too, when she was a lawyer at Wusang, before Hae-in married Hyun-woo.

And Hae-in told in the last ep that she'll bring a competent lawyer of her own... Now WE know that that lawyer was going to be 🤌Vincenzo Cassano🤌

But what if Hae-in wasn't talking about Vinny at all. What if she had meant Hong Cha-young instead. Because Wusang or not Hong Cha-young is still Hong Cha-young.

So NIS and Interpol lifted the arrest warrant on our Corn-Salad. And the first thing he did, obviously, is coming to meet his 💖byeonohsa-nim💖 and his ✨Geumga family✨

So Hae-in goes to Geumga plaza, to Jipuragi to employ their CEO as her legal representative.

Now, naturally, Vincenzo is also at Jipuragi. Because peak Chayenzo domesticity is them working on cases together.

Now Hong Cha-young has a lot on her plate, being the CEO of Jipuragi, but she still wants to help a friend in need. That's where Vinny comes into the picture.

He hears Hae-in's case and his first thought is that... He needs to teach her jerk of a husband a lesson on how a man should treat the woman he loves(he does know it best).

And he looks at Hong Cha-young and goes, "byeonohsa-nim, don't worry I'll handle it."

And Hong Cha-young looks smugly and proudly up at her man and nods her head, "ofcourse byeonohsa-nim. Go ahead."

Hae-in is sceptical of this lawyer she has never seen or even heard of before, even though he seems very charismatic. But Hong Cha-young assures her, "don't worry. He's got this. He's the best I know 😉"

-Woongki's is like two sizes too big

-"Oh, I'm sorry. I really thought they'd fit."

-Three bitch slaps have been issued so far and it isn't even 9 P.M.

-Seo Won and Woongki hogging the karaoke mic

-Every time someone else attempts to take a turn, a new song comes on and they both freak out

-"Oh, please will you let me do this one, too!? It's my favorite song," Woongki begs excitedly.

-It is quickly established that every song is Woongki's favorite song

-Haruto practicing random girl group choreography compulsively in the corner by himself

-He's not being left out or anything, this is just what he likes to do

Okay but what Hae Soo told Ji Won in the last episode was so beautiful tho?? Not a direct quote but something along the lines of "I know you have to live through this pain right now, but even so, I hope you feel less pain". To acknowledge pain and suffering as part of what it takes to grow, but to wish for this pain to lessen, even if just a little bit. And this coming from one of the characters that suffered the most and that never truly let herself let go of her own pain and guilt. The way we can see how Hae Soo is finally moving on from her own pain and how she genuinely wishes Ji Won can move on as well.
