Pretend jungle adventures on our morning walk!
Investigating the scene of a crime on our morning walk, haha!
hard to believe she’s only four years old sometimes
mixed media is fun
Looking at my old art makes me want to draw again but I’m so not a self motivated person. 😖
I have found that using this method of “drawing music” using a white medium on black paper makes the most sense to me. Drawing white on black was in part inspired by Cy Twombly’s chalkboard pieces, where in which he makes bold spiraling gestures on black canvas which resembles handwriting exercises commonly done at school with chalk on a blackboard. I find that this makes more sense - in comparison to drawing black on white - because when I do these blind drawings my eyes are closed and so I’m seeing darkness when I draw. Also I feel like when we listen to music, the sound mixes in with our thoughts/consciousness and I imagine this kind of headspace to be vast and dark, much like actual outer space. It is almost as if the music is light cutting through the darkness.
I really like how this one turned out. I like how it has a line that spirals around the cluster of scribbles shooting to the top right corner for the composition looks as if it is bursting out of something. Has a lot of energy!
I also really like how black charcoal on red paper looks. Very bold and striking.
