Espio liking a character a bit like Silver just got me thinking.
Espio: Okay, so I'll be honest with you, I want the money because that otome game series Amy got me into is having a preorder sale on figures in a new line of outfits and they finally have one of my favourite boy. *holding up phone*
Vector: That boy, Arianwen.
Espio: Yes.
Vector: The light grey Porcupine.
Espio: Yes?
Vector: And the outfit you want him in is the 'futuristic' themed one.
Espio: ...
"That is all just a coincidence, this outfit is superior than any other they have provided him with so far, he is also rather rare because not many people like him so it is difficult enough to find merch of him as it is-" over Vector's incessant cackling XD
Silver meanwhile would not notice, and once he does, he would not at all see the similarities between Es' favourite character and himself. That is, until Amy talks him into a cosplay one day and he's just like "Oh, Es LOVES that guy :D" while they assemble the clothing, and only once he sees himself in the mirror with his fancy futuristic outfit is he like "huh wait a sec actually". Espio remains quiet about it all, lest Silver catches on after all!

Instead of fully being an annoying boomer loser who isn't happy about the new things, I'll make some sort of a masterpost about cool JSR and JSRF information sources and other neat thingies. Probably will be updated if i find anything else worth including.
So, first of all:
•Official websites for JSR and JSRF. JSRF website has an English version, but it's barely archived and doesn't have much information on it anyway. JSR one is really awesome though, a lot of cool tidbits, character bios(they include one new trivia for some characters ) and game tips!!
•A whole bunch of guidebooks, meaning JSR Perfect Guide, JSRF Perfect Guidebook and the JGR Sybex's Official Strategies & Secrets . Only one of them is in English, but they're still useful for maps and Graffiti Soul collecting. If you can read these then even better lol. Keep in mind, that the JSR Perfect Guide only covers the original Japanese release, which is different from the later one's.
• Sexy as hell manuals for JGR, De La JSR, JSR for GBA and JSRF. Always good to know about these.
It's probably the obvious thing that could've been noted, so now to less obvious one's.
•The JSR and JSRF articles on Sega Retro. You probably noticed me linking them for the manuals and whatnot. If you want to find out stuff about these games, this is second best source for it (first one is playing the games lol). But it has some weird statements like saying that Beat is the leader of the GGs, even though it doesn't make any logical sense, and claiming that JSRF is a sequel game, but then also saying that it's not in the actual JSRF article.
While these little things suck, they're completely overshadowed by the sheer amount of fucking information included. Scans, art, documentation of which magazine had articles regarding the games and on which page AND EVERYTHING IS WITH SOURCES AND IMAGES. This is really strong and you'll be there for hours just staring in wonder at all this compiled info.
• JSR Archives. This is a community dedicated for archiving and categorising all the stuff JSR related. One of their members was the one who posted the Sybex guide on the internet.(whoahaaa they got a tumblr FOLLOW THEM!!)
• TCRF article on JGR. While this article wasn't updated in quite some time and is missing a whole bunch of stuff (like the leaked prototypes), it's still a very nice read.
• An extremely really detailed playthrough/guide of JSR. Includes cool trivia like regional differences and instructions for character unlocking.
• A whole bunch of prototypes. I included only those i consider noteworthy, if you wanna get the other's, they're there as well.
• JSRF Inside. A certified hood classic if we're talking about JSRF modding.
• Best source for JSRF speedrunning information.
• Less detailed, but still very useful video guide for unlocking all of the secret JSRF characters.
• Playlist of JSR/JSRF music, and anything related to them, like different remixes and stuff. Read the description for more details. It also has a link to a text document containing a lot of cool trivia about the artist featured in the games and other JSR related media.
• Video with all the dialogue and special interactions in JSRF.
• Kind of a joke entry, but also Hideki Naganuma's twitter account is worth checking out. Not his new tweets, but really old one's. In the past he was more involved with the fanbase and shared some neat trivia. Not related to him but one of the Castle Logical ppl confirmed that the lyrics in Mischievous Boy say "chameleon machine" and it fucks me up so much.
• This goofy ass official IGN guide for JSR. Why i didn't put it with the rest of the official guides? Well, the reason is that the writer for this thing, Aki, is a real silly goose and they decided to spice up some of the character descriptions. While these are probably based on some legitimate information, like Beat being from Fukuoka(which was confirmed by a Beat TUBBZ figurine of all things), you can't trust these due to its silliness. Like they gave DJ K a backstory, which just ruins his whole deal AND contradicts the game manual. They also consistently get the names for locations wrong. As a game guide it's pretty good?? You can use it. Just don't go around calling Gum a "brownface girl" after reading it.
That's everything i can remember so far, hope this helps.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ The owl mask
͟͟͞͞➳❥ Appearance.
Tumblr media
His mask takes the appearance of an owl. The main part of the mask is a refined white a with gold bordering. When he initially constructed the mask it was pristine. However, now there are various cracks in his mask from his many encounters with Jinx. These cracks are sealed shut and filled with gold filling. Ekko has an extreme attachment to this mask, as such he never makes a new one and always repairs it.
͟͟͞͞➳❥ Origins
As a child, before the uprising, Ekko was raised by his parents, of which his mother had owl vastayan lineage. (His father being chameleon.) His mother displayed an obvious love for owls as a result. Ekko had even crafted her a small makeshift owl figurines. Most of which always broke.
After the uprising and being taken fully in by Benzo, Ekko grew close to Benzo. So much so that after Benzo died and after Ekko had conquered his shimmer addiction, he returned to Benzo's shop. He collected a certain mask from it and crafted parts to match, making a bigger mask.
Tumblr media
(This was also the mask he used to spy through and eavesdrop on conversations.) The mask itself is a reminder of his parents, as well as a way to keep Benzo with him.

I think this is going to be a new tradition for us

The one non-Sonic friend of mine who sent me that one funny chameleon plush said she found a Silver figure in a store for the first time and sent me a picture of it, and then within only seconds she sent me another message saying "you are not gonna believe this"... I just KNEW she'd follow it up with a picture of an Espio figure in that same store. I've never been so envious
It always baffles me that there are places in the world where you can buy game merch in conventional shops. And even more if those shops are supermarkets. Sure, in the Netherlands you can get some things in toy stores, but don't expect it to be more than a handful of Mario/Luigi/Yoshi plushes, some things from the most popular Pokemon, and a Classic Sonic if you're lucky. (Then again, I've never been to toy stores in like, Amsterdam or whatever before. Maybe there's more there?)
Meanwhile, if I want to get something, I need to go to a very specific store where individual people can set up shop and sell merch, and then hope, beg, and pray I get lucky. That did net me Long Leg Sonic, though! But I doubt I'll ever find a Silver plush in there, let alone one of Espio. And stuff like figurines and the like will be even more difficult, let alone anything that is an actual licensed product from Sega's (that also doesn't look terribly off-model or just altogether awful, because there are some official things out there that are just flat-out terrifying, lmao). It's nice that you have pictures of the figurines, though! ^-^

Lance Appreciation Week Day 4 - Bonding with Rapunzel (and Pascal)
“Come on, Lance, just one date! You don’t know that she isn’t the one!”
“I appreciate it, Rapunzel, but I think I can figure my romantic life out for myself,” Lance says, resting his hand on her shoulder. Nevermind that none of his romantic exploits have ever really worked out in his favour.
Faith just- well- isn’t his type.
Rapunzel tugged on his arm and continued to protest, and it was a challenge to keep his face neutral the longer she continued.
“-And I just think that if you spent a little time with her-“
“Rapunzel, when do we ever hang out?” Lance asks, stopping her in her tracks.
“What do you mean? We hang out! Just last week-“
“Without Eugene.”
“Well… what about the farmer’s festival?”
“Or the girls. Or Varian”
“Uh,” Rapunzel stalls.
“Exactly! Let’s just spend some time together without dragging somebody else around with us, yeah?” he suggests, hoping she’ll finally let this Faith thing drop.
“You’re right. It’s Rapunzel and Lance time.”
A shrill chirp assaults her left ear, and she amends her statement.
“Rapunzel, Lance and Pascal time.”
Rapunzel, Lance and Pascal time, they decide, is shopping time.
Every week brings new merchandise to the Coronan marketplace, with thrifty travellers stopping by and sailing off again, taking their wares with them. It makes every trip unique, despite how frustrating it can be to discover a new favourite jeweller only for them to disappear at the end of the month. Rapunzel and Lance stroll past the colourful stalls, stopping occasionally to admire a wall of watercolour paintings or to buy a brightly frosted cupcake. Eventually their attention is drawn involuntarily to a stall decorated with all sorts of crystal tchotchkes and trinkets, dazzling them with a kaleidoscope of glinting light.
“Oh look, it’s a little glass Pascal,” Rapunzel coos, picking up a glass figurine stained in green that vaguely formed the shape of a lizard. Pascal trills dubiously at it from her shoulder.
“Look at this,” Lance says, lifting up a glass goblet embossed with gold. “You know, my birthday is coming up,” he nudges her.
“Your birthday is whenever you feel like it is,” Rapunzel smirks at him. “It was your birthday three months ago, and again only two months before that.”
“I’m trying to get my senior’s benefits early, alright?” Lance teases.
The saleswoman packaging her goods in the corner finally notices them, and dusts off her hands on her skirt before leaning on the tabletop with a wide smile.
“See anything you like?” she asks, her eyes flicking from Rapunzel to Lance. “These glasswares were all made in Nosçae, Hervania- you won’t find better anywhere else. They’ve got a secret glassblowing technique that’s unique to the region.”
“We’ll take the chameleon,” Lance says, and laying his crowns down on the table.
“Aw, Lance. You don’t have to buy that for me,” Rapunzel protests, but Lance waves her off.
“Think of it as an early birthday present.”
Rapunzel purses her lips but doesn’t argue further; the figurine is adorable but a little too pricey just to buy for herself, but not so absurd that she won’t let Lance gift it to her. Her glass Pascal is wrapped up neat and secure in a bundle of packaging, and with it in hand they set off again. As soon as they’re out of earshot of the stall, Rapunzel leans over.
“So… she was cute, right?”
“Rapunzel.”
“Right. Sorry.”
Lance shakes his head, but can’t help the smile that crosses his face. It’s refreshing to finally catch up and spend time together, Rapunzel’s matchmaking attempts notwithstanding.
And the next time his ‘birthday’ rolls around, he finds himself in the possession of a familiar glass goblet, wrapped up with pink and green.

(Brick and teddy bear for the latest meme? Sorry, I'm on desktop!)
[ 🧱 ] how would you describe your muses’ morality? what are their core values?
(I'd say that he's amoral, but that would mean that Robotnik is ignorant of things like human decency and compassion. The doctor simply acts amorally. I'm spite of his cruelty and disregard for society's rules (the good rules,) he considers himself morally above the US government. Their attempts at global domination are both glaringly obvious and, to him, committed for the insipid reason of wealth accumulation. When he takes over, on the other hand, things will actually be run smoothly and efficiently. Everyone will eat. They will have nutrients. They will have shelter. He'll do everything better than any dictator before him, and the whole world will be forced to acknowledge that he's a superior lifeform to them all. At least, that's how he views it. As long as the ends are quantifiably better than what we used to know in terms of bare necessities, he believes that his means are justified.)
[ 🧸 ] does your muse keep anything sentimental? if so, what do they keep and why?
(He keeps a well worn figurine from his homeland, carved from bone and ugly. It depicts a gnarled, misshapen creature unknown to earthlings. He also has a figurine of Mary Queen of Heaven locked away tightly in a compartment in one of his bedroom drawers. Nobody is allowed to know about that one.
He also secretly keeps a little mouse and a chameleon. The mouse was given to him by a friend, and the chameleon was "liberated" from a children's museum.)

D&D: Magic of The Game
Anyone who is familiar with the title will already know what I will be talking about this Odin’s Wednesday. We’ll be talking about some Dungeons and Dragons (D&D)!
As a Chameleon of a number of communities. The world of D&D has been a subject that I hear a lot but am terribly new to. I see it referenced in various mediums and mentioned among friends who are board game enthusiasts but I never bothered to sink into. That was until I stumbled across this video from Fandom Entertainment about;
[Defeating Your Demons with D&D].
Tumblr media
After that, I watched a few more videos related to D&D and, I got the general basics of the game itself, its history with religious communities and the people who played them but I don’t completely understand it. As in, I didn’t understand its appeal. How can a game about people role playing with a piece of paper, some dices and a simple figurine be so interesting? Why do you want to be an other worldly being? It felt strange to me.
All that being said, the idea felt oddly familiar. Like sore thumb, it stuck out to me as an odd thing but at the same time, it strangely fits in with the subjects I am quite versed in. Granted, I am, STILL new. I don’t know much about this stuff but, the internet IS helpful so...
Tumblr media
[This is just for transition, Credits to JoCat]
- Welcome to a Crap Post to D&D -
Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop role playing game that was founded by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974, published by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). It’s a board game hybrid that uses in-world based character sheets, action dices, imaginative immersion, a game master or, Dungeon Master and talking. Lots and lots of talking.
The DM’s duty in the game is to world-build, create scenarios, determine player outcomes, keep/ make/ break the rules and most importantly. Keep track and keep score of everything. Basically, the DM is the appointed nanny for Board Game Night. Meanwhile, the player’s role is to create a character, decide their course of action in said scenario and...just have fun.
Tumblr media
If you look it up, you’ll notice that lots of celebrities have openly talked about and publicly played D&D. To name a few, there is Joe Manganiello, Matthew Mercer, Stephen Colbert, Chris Hardwick, Ashley Johnson, Terry Crews, Wil Wheaton and many more. Its a game that looks intimidating, sounds very complicated but generally easy to start.
As of today in 2021. D&D is making a comeback. From what I was told, the group; [Critical Role] is the biggest one currently leading the charge with live streaming sessions of D&D for about four to five hours. Granted, there are other streamers and creators who are also live streaming D&D or making content of D&D like the group; [Acquisitions Inc], the animators [Mr Ripper] and [Blaine Simple] and the wiggly crap guide, [JoCat]
- The Best of Both Worlds -
So, back to my question. Why do people like to imagine themselves as someone or rather, something else? Say, Person A - is from Texas, hates germs, smarter than everyone in his school but prefers to stay at home to read comic books and play video games.
(Wait...I just described Sheldon!)
Tumblr media
Why would Person A want to be a, Level 30 Lizardman Mage with spells for days to kick ass, take names and be awesome? - By the way, I just made that up. I don’t really remember Sheldon’s actual D&D character.
Well, why wouldn’t you? Part of the charm in D&D is the ability to immerse yourself into a role YOU made to exist and function. Essentially, D&D provides some established set pieces and various species of beings to mix, match and play with. The world of D&D may have its own set of rules and regulations but the character is your creation.
Using the established “Race” and choosing a “Class” the player gets to decide the character’s personality, their history, the quirks and the in-world interactions they have with the other characters and the world itself. The player gets to go on epic adventures and make memories with their friends, all while sitting together in a room with their notes and their minds, wandering off to D&D Land.
With D&D, there is no desire to conclude the game or reach the end of the game but rather, there is the desire to keep going and uncover more about the world itself. While your decisions and conclusions are dictated by the roll of your dice and the various game mechanics (which I know very little about). The Player’s engagement to the game is what makes the world, the story, the character itself and the quests feel so real.
Tumblr media
Back to Sheldon, I remember watching this one episode of The Big Bang Theory when the character, Bernadette was pregnant. She couldn’t eat and drink certain things, she felt like she was something fragile because she’s having a baby and she was upset. To cheer her up, Sheldon created a solo campaign of D&D that turned Bernadette into...well, [See for yourself]
For a moment in the scene, Bernadette became invested in the story. She happily engaged and jumped with excitement when she could do certain things as her character. While still her pregnant-self. Her character could, drink alcohol, eat sushi, watch her husband (Howard) suffer while being pregnant, be tall and other wishful thoughts.
Tumblr media
Perhaps that is the other appeal of the game. This idea of living in two very different worlds is what makes the game fun. Your in-game character, the decisions you make, the story you partake in and the actions you do. They don’t affect the real world and yet, in some way. It lifts your spirit and gives freedom. In a strange twist, it did something...magical. According to some D&D enthusiast, the game also builds positive characteristics. Such as leadership, empathy, respect, understanding while also being your inner hero.
There is NO WRONG way to play D&D, there is only, A WAY to play D&D and regardless of the outcome, there is always the next turn. In fact, some say that D&D is a game that allows you to make mistakes but the mistake could also be a blessing in the long run. This game allows you to leap out of your limited human body and become the very character you wanted to be. Its the best of both worlds. You get to be yourself and you also get to be that desired someone at the same time.
To quote Judy Hopps: “Anyone can be Anything.”
Tumblr media
- Heroes, Let’s Play! -
Like most things in pop culture, It has a fair share of good days and bad days when dealing with the general public. As a board game of make-believe with monsters, magical creatures and...demons. It sure has raised some eyebrows of the religious kind. But that was donkey’s years ago!
Tumblr media
In today’s age, D&D has become a positive tool to help children, teens and adults to hang around and play with their friends and their imagination. Earlier, I mentioned Critical Role and the names of other D&D content creators that has made D&D accessible and simple to get into. What used to be a nerdy or geeky game has now been brought back from the dead with big and popular names in media as well as individuals from various identities joining hands to widen its spectrum. While it once was a Western phenomenon, is slowly building up to other parts of the world as we speak. My country included!
Remember how I said D&D felt odd and yet familiar? If you look at other shows/movies, board games and role playing video games. They, in some way fit in with that spectrum. The Anime, [Konosuba] is basically D&D but with some very unreliable and horribly incompetent players in a sitcom-like fashion. The teen drama, [Riverdale] featured an in-show D&D knockoff called, Gryphons and Gargoyles. With darker additions of drugs, gangs, killers and other angsty stuff! The movie, [The Guardians of The Galaxy] is just D&D IN SPACE!
Tumblr media
Speaking of Space, there are also other types of board games that used the D&D mechanics with a bit of a theme change. Like say, Warhammer 40,000 - a Sci-Fi twist version of D&D, Mice & Mystics - is an easy to understand and easy to play game about fighting pests, Cyberpunk 2020 - is a dystopian cyber world, floating cars and all that.
Its a simple concept that, despite it once being banned has now gotten popular again as something good but still, why? Here’s the thing, if you take away the magic of D&D, the sets, the mini figures and strip it down to its core. D&D is basically a game of escape. To awaken your inner hero, anti-hero, edge lord, borderline villain and so much more to be a different YOU without any worries and any judgement.
D&D has helped people in its own special way. It allows people a chance to be unique and it feels, cathartic. For some of us, we are bound to something and that something hold us back. D&D breaks that, it may still be a fantasy game that exists in only our heads but its a game that transcends past itself and beyond. A world that is constantly developing and makes hanging out with people to be a little bit more...interesting and its right there. Waiting...
With all that in mind, the table is set and now...its [YOUR Turn to Roll!]
Tumblr media
And with that, comes the end of another post. I...hope I did this topic justice and I hope that you enjoy it. Also just a final note, with the world still being on FIRE right now, you might be interested in trying D&D. If you don’t have the game, don’t worry. Its available to play online. Keep in mind, you DO have to register for an account.
[Link here] and [Link here].
Also, my posts have been quite hit and miss lately. (as it always does B, who are you even trying to impress?!) So I’m thinking, every Odin’s Wednesday might have to cut based on the response but hey, I won’t force you to like it or re-blog it or do anything. This is still just a hobby. Anyways, till the next post...
Thanks for reading
- B -
