Why shipping aroace characters is different

So I made a post a while back about my distaste for Vivziepop, the creator of Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss. One of the things that I mentioned in that post was that I disliked how callously she treated the shipping of Alastor, her aroace character (note: he is indeed canonically aroace, Vivziepop confirmed that he was ace and an artist on the show clarified that he was aro as well, which seems to be the implication for the character from Vivziepop and her team). I had a few people regard with confusion, asking what the difference was between shipping an aroace character and shipping, say, a straight character in a gay ship. There’s a key difference that I want to cover for my well-meaning allo (not ace or aro) friends. (Note: I definitely have different standards for QPR shipping and friends-with-benefits shipping aro and/or ace characters, but if I see ANY allo people using QPRs without knowledge of how they actually work and use them as an excuse to ship an aro character….i will find you)

The difference that I, an aroace man, have in my mind is that Aroace characters should not be shipped in a traditional way because we have so little representation in the first place. How many gay people have you seen in media? How many bisexuals? How many lesbians? There are numerous examples of these more common sexualities all throughout popular media. One reason why this kind of representation is more popular is mostly due to two factors: One of which is, obviously, that the three listed are more commonly known by the populous, thus are guaranteed to get a better reaction from a widespread audience. The other reason to this is that aro-asexuality has to be represented differently than other orientations. With most orientations, if a creator wants to properly represent their identities, they will put the character in question in a relationship with someone of the same gender as them (Amity from The Owl House or Jackie from Star Versus the Forces of Evil), or they will give the character a chaotic realization-to-coming-out storyline, often tied to a romantic relationship (Nick from Heartstopper). However, with aroace people, you can’t really adhere to this traditional standard, as the entire point of the orientation is a lack of interest in sex or romance. Therefore, they tend to be harder to represent other than giving them a full storyline about their sexuality (Isaac from Heartstopper) or their orientation must be made clear by the creator (Lilith from The Owl House). These factors make aromantic and/or asexual characters quite rare in popular media.

What does this have to do with shipping aro-ace characters? Well, I can name countless well-represented gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters in popular media. But for aroaces, there’s really only a handful. It hurts to not see yourself in media. And, from my perspective, when people ship aroace characters, they’re callously disregarding that fact by ignoring their canon sexuality. Shipping Percy Jackson with Grover or whatever isn’t taking away from straight representation because, well, reread the first half of that sentence. Additionally, never, EVER have I seen people defend people who ship lesbians or gay men with a character of the opposite sex the same way they defend shipping aro-ace characters. Amity x Hunter is a famously reviled ship in the Owl House fandom due to this very fact. What’s the difference between shipping a character who, by definition, isn’t attracted to men, and shipping a character who, by definition, isn’t attracted to anyone?

Anyway, as a media enthusiast, I just wanted to share my thoughts, because this drives me insane when I see things like this. Well-meaning allo shippers, nothing against you, but please try to think about what you’re doing to marginalized communities before doing anything.

To me, she kinda just radiates bi energy too. Maybe it's the campiness, maybe it's the purple, maybe it's her odd sense of humor, maybe it's her chaotic nature, but whatever it is, I've always thought it.

In Future State, set in an alternate, Steph and Cass are explicitly written as bisexual and they allude to being in a relationship with each other in the past; a relationship which complicates their present friendship. They take some big strides in reconciling in Future State: Batgirls #2.

They allude to a heart-wrenching end to a clearly intense (romantic) relationship, and how badly it hurt both of them and put a wedge between them.

It's a beautiful but difficult moment for these ex-lovers.

Gender Headcanon: subaru is literally, as we’ve all discussed, like EVERY letter of lgbtq+ i swear. like natsumi EXPLICITLY being stated to be his ideal self….. what cisgender boy has his ideal version of himself be a woman…. come on….. and hes been like. dressing and trying to pass as a girl for his crossdressing pre-isekai too. like subarus Practiced A Lot at this. subaru clearly enjoys doing this and he was crushed when he couldnt pass bc of his voice pre-isekai :(( AND LIKE subaru and his complex relationship to masculinity and feeling insecure in his own skin like……………… and then natsumi being his ideal self…… natsumi being the Heroine……….. and its like. subaru clearly has a case of “do i want to be them or be With Them” when it comes to men hes attracted to (most notably julius.) so like. it could apply to women too. like. and then the way subaru reacts to felix’s presentation too………. i just think it says a lot. i dont care what tappei says but he wrote all this shit in the text fr!!! and also in general. natsuki subaru being a gender neutral name…. same with natsumi schwartz… so yes genderqueer subaru for the win. i personally hc subaru as genderfluid or bigender!! and also like. subaru being Very LGBTQ+ is so in line with rezero’s themes of self love and self improvement and self discovery and Identity. i think it hits so much harder if subaru Is lgbtq+ versus if he was just insecure straight cis man. like no wonder subaru was struggling Even More. hes so so far in the closet and struggling with like the internal homophobia and shit fr :(((

that and 1. subaru being lgbt is such a great subversion of what you would think when you first meet his character. and also a subversion of ur typical isekai protag which ADDS to rezeros subversion of isekai in general and 2. i love making Certain People mad with these hcs. like its so supported by the text the only thing missing is explicit confirmation. which. i have my doubts with tappei on that but iirc he DID say he nearly wrote a lust if with the guys…. tappei. come on. you already explicitly said that natsumi is subarus ideal self.

A ship I have with said character: im very open to most subaru ships!!! i just love a lot of them—reinsuba, ottosuba, emisuba, remsuba, julisuba… i just like how each kind of dynamic with subaru has so much range like even in just main route alone?? and then you factor in the ifs and it gets So Interesting. theres so much history with each pairing and so much to explore, whether its platonic or romantic. and subaru has a LOT of love in his heart.

i just like each pairing for different reasons hah—like ok ive talked a lot about reinsuba and emisuba already in other asks so. i DO like remsuba okay. not in the sense that i want it to be the endgame ship in main route bc thats very much not happening and i would prefer The Most Detailed emisuba development of all time. which would be more thematically relevant <3 but i DO ADORE remsubas relationship in general. like its so so complicated??? like. yeah theres the conflict in arc 2. theres the conflict in arc 7 with her waking up and being different and being so mean to him about natsumi :((( theres her “youre my hero” versus “youre not a hero” WHICH. URHGHF ITS SO GOOD….. and like yeah remsuba really do be. iffy. in terms of how healthy it is. but its so complicated bc you also have rem being like—she was like the first person, narratively, to be willing to DIE to save subaru the exact way he does for other people (including rem). and then the famous from zero scene in season one which is a MASTERPIECE but i hate how people fixate on “i love emilia” LIKE REM IS HAPPY FOR SUBARU. SHE IS HAPPY AS LONG AS HE IS. EVEN IF HE DOESNT LIKE HER BACK. but also he did like her back romantically for a time. and also of course rem had her fixation on subaru :(( subaru had his own obsession for emilia while rem had hers for subaru pre-being gluttonyed?? :(( yeah like. remsuba being so complicated is so interesting to me. like she and subaru are very passionate people yes. but also they do need to learn to tone it down sometimes you know? ok also julisuba and ottosuba. i am no expert on julisuba but on the other hand i have analyzed Too Much Ottosuba so perhaps i am an expert there wodndn. but YEAH i love those ships. they have so much history and moments between them and they are. definitely the more Explicit evidence of subaru being bi (between subarus Interest in julius and reid calling julisuba boyfriends and SUBARUS INTEREST IN JULIUS... vs ottosuba repeatedly being like “omg do you Like Like me?” “NO I DONT SHUT UP” and also their continued divorce arc dynamics yep). but also i will say i really like ottosuba because specifically they are the subaru pairing where theyre like. Very Much Closer To Being Equals. if theyre not already equals in something. like in terms of power levels and intellect and their very loving families and previous inability to fit in or be believed by people and also their status in the narrative as Being Just A Guy in comparison to everyone else. and yet ottosuba are the MOST important members to their camp for their jobs—subaru keeps everyone alive, and otto handles All the politics, which we see over and over again. they are literally THE power duo. otto is so so important too as the second person to die FOR subaru the same way subarus died for others. like the paralleling of otto pushing subaru out of the way when the white whale drove otto insane (and later otto tried to go back for subaru once he regained his senses ;-;;;) versus otto pushing subaru out of the way so he didnt get killed by garf ;-;;;;;. and otto being the second person after rem to also give subaru an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT speech to him (otto-rem parallels...???) <33 except ottosuba also foil a lot bc of their Different Morals. but theyre both stubborn as hell and have a tendency to go off and do shit they think is best without telling anyone bc theyre too deadset (hah) on what THEY think. (OTTO. SPENDING A WHOLE YEAR SECRETLY GETTING THE BOOK OF WISDOM AND HAVING IT RESTORED?? HELLO???) anyway yeah ill stop right here bc i have So Much ottosuba posts on this damn blog wkdndn but i really do think the appeal of ottosuba is that they Are on a more even playing ground. and their morality flipflops sometimes. ottos issues are just more lowkey than subarus widndnd. i am. however. nervous about all the ottosuba and vincent-chisha parallels in arc 8 bc………. possible otto perma death on the horizon??? 😭😭😭😭 itd CRUSH subaru.

also of course the similar flavors of julisuba and ottosuba….. u can have ur tsundere x tsundere ships in TWO DIFFERENT FONTS. anyway ill become a julius lore expert someday i promise.

A BROTP I have with said character: BROTP ottosuba and ramsuba are so so funny and great wofndn but special shoutout to garf and subaru in particular!!! i think its interesting how far their relationship has come bc they had a VERY rough start and its like. 1. im sure garf would immediately regret going into a rage and killing a shit ton of people in that One Failed Loop and 2. we learn garf is a traumatized fourteen year old whos been trying so hard to take care of the demihumans inside sanctuary while his sister and mom left him, one way or another, and hes very afraid of the outside world. and its like YEAH now your behavior makes sense. and its so good to see garfs growth and also his growth in his relationship with subaru (and otto) bc he looks up to subaru sm!!! subaru helped garf so much T^T theyre brothers guys 😭😭 i think its so adorable and so sweet. ill defend garf all day everyday. garf 🤝 subaru with their DAMN hero complexes while otto tries to keep them both on a leash so they dont do stupid shit. subaru IS a good role model for garf though ill say that. subaru tries so hard to be a good role model wkdndn. and yes i always laugh when garf teases subaru for drawing doodles and writing encouraging things for emilia in the temple.

A NOTP I have with said character: okay so. maybe i will spill some tea here. hah so i went over in ram’s ask how i think ramsuba in wrath if is actually super interesting widndns but otherwise ramsuba to me is bland. which. i also just feel like subaru/crusch and subaru/ana and subaru/priscilla are also bland. like. i dont think theyll ever feel interesting to me akdndn. like theres not. as much to work off of imo. like i just dont think theyre a good match romantically at all. like At All. priscilla especially LMAO…. and im tired of people reducing women in the story to just boobs and being fucked by subaru 😭😭😭 like i dont have anything against those subaru ships, my biggest notp is just seeing a bunch of characters be butchered just to have subaru have sex with various women. 😭😭 obviously not everyone in the fandom does that but i see this happens the most with priscilla fr. pls. shes more than just boobs :(((

anyway. my other notp is like. echidna/subaru but like. i feel similarly to ram/roswaal on this where its like. theres a potential there to show a nuanced complex toxic relationship bc THAT IS what echidna/subaru are. even more so in greed if. like theyve spent an UNGODLY amount of time together like their relationship is so fucked. like god the amount of details that were added to their dynamic in the greed if ln makes me go INSANE….. like you know how echidna said that subaru could use her body with this contract?? what she ALSO really meant was HEY SUBARU YOU CAN KILL ME IF YOU WANT. ILL JUST COME BACK BC WE ALWAYS MEET IN A DREAM WORLD AND THERES NO CONSEQUENCES BUT ITLL FEEL REAL TO YOU. LIKE HOLY FUCK FR 😭😭 and like in generally reading through greed if ln is a Trip alright. like “no yeah duh of course it is, suffaru, its GREED IF” but LISTEN……. echidna being subarus weird mother figure and then like. idk there are obvious implications i feel from like the body fluid tea and then echidna being like “you can use my body” and then theres a moment where she puts his hand on her chest and yeah its to feel her heart but LIKE…. SOMETHING ABOUT THAT SCENE FELT LIKE. SOMETHING. TO ME. AND THEN SHES SO OBSESSED WITH HIM AND HES DEPENDENT ON HER LIKE JESUS ITS A MESS. ITS LIKE HOW SHE WAS WITH OG ROSWAAL. GOD. *puts my head in my hands*

anyway my real notp is like. depicting echidna/subaru like it is a Healthy Thing like no it is not 😭😭😭😭 it never was healthy and it literally never will be unless ur changing echidnas character drastically. if ur gonna show off echidna/subaru then they are gonna be SO RANCID in like every way possible there is no other correct way to write them. she is terrible for him. she literally saw him and went “i can make him worse” and then it happened. bc greed if subaru is a Terrible Person. like. its not even a question. the biggest example i can think of rn other than obvious Rbd use is KEEPING MEILI. A CHILD. HOSTAGE AND LOCKED UP IN ORDER TO USE ELSA. HER OLDER SISTER FIGURE. JEEZ. my biggest notp of all time is treating unhealthy relationships as if they Arent unhealthy.

MY OTHER BIGGEST NOTP OF ALL TIME FOR ANYTHING IS SHIPPING A CHILD AND AN OLDER PERSON TOGETHER. subaru/petra SHOULD BE AN OBVIOUS NOTP BUT SURE DOESNT FEEL LIKE IT SOMETIMES….. guys she is a child. come on. hes seventeen and shes TWELVE. GUYS…. and then theres tappei making iirc an ACTUAL petra if????? and idk what the content in petra if is exactly but i worry given tappeis track record with the child characters sometimes 😭😭 AND THEN PETRA BEING IN LUST IF. TAPPEI…… N-NOTHING HAPPENS, RIGHT? *EXPLODES WITH RAGE*. even if petra and subaru get together later when theyre Older Adults in some AU or something its like. subaru knew her when she was a young child. and she had a crush on him then. um. personally idk if im fully comfortable with that hah T^T

A random headcanon: GONNA TALK ABOUT WRATH IF. anyway so the wrath if divergence point is that subaru gets beatrice to teleport him away and ram chases him down, ram tries to strangle him to death but fails, he smashes her head with a rock. yes. BUT OKAY when u watch the anime. beatrice comes for his aid AFTER subaru gets to the cliff and tries to psych himself up to like. jump off to save rem and stuff. THEREFORE wrath if subaru still considered trying to rbd via jumping off that cliff. he just decided not to and agreed to have beatrice teleport him away. this is something not many people seem to mention or maybe even notice (??) but I THINK ABOUT IT A LOT…. :((

General Opinion over said character: i LOVE SUBARU WITH MY WHOLE BEING. he is my absolute favorite anime character of all time. his character arc is so chaotic and complicated and i think the way he Does like still struggle with the same Inner Conflicts is so so much more realistic. recovery and self improvement are NOT linear and he shows that perfectly. and i hate how much people misread subaru T^T the whole chadbaru trend in fandom of how he should get harems or how he should leave everyone or be terrible to emilia for *insert a long list of Terrible reasons here* is so. like did we all read and watch the same damn story or what hah. the whole point of rezero is LOVE ITSELF….. and subaru ultimately has a lot of love for so many people around him. though of course i do worry for how rbd reveal is going to be handled, and im not entirely sure how to feel about subarus arc 7 development atm. rbd reveal is gonna have catastrophic consequences for Everyone. like everyone hes ever been close to finding out hes died a shit ton of times to save him?? that so many of them have like. maimed and killed him or at least Tried To Do That? like HOW are we gonna get a happy ending out of all of this—hows tappei gonna handle this?? 😭😭 i worry sometimes that when rbd reveal happens it wont be nuanced or itll gloss over certain things or it just. wont be so satisfying. bc u have arc 7 subaru out here with SUICIDE PILLS……. ARC 7 SUBARU IN REPEATED INSANE DEATH LOOPS AS A CHILD….. how are we gonna come back from this?? 😭😭 i have my doubts sometimes but tappei loves insane character development for subaru so i suppose i will hope. i just wish for all the trauma to be seen and addressed akdndn and the fact that rbd is so. complicated. it makes subaru and his relationships with everyone else so complicated. and rbd is inherently unfair in a lot of ways to both subaru and everyone hes close to. i cant wait for more subaru development but i also think after arc 8 he NEEDS a break or like otherwise, personally i think subarus gonna snap for good and not be able to return from it 😭😭 or ill just have to suspend my uhh disbelief. i suppose. but yes i do love subaru a lot!!! his hair is a Pain in the ass to draw but ill endure the pain just for him. <33

but regarding all of subarus loved ones maiming and killing him a lot—i think its fascinating how the if routes prove he is JUST as capable of ruining all their lives. like i feel like people forget that sometimes in favor of woaaah cool what if routes where subaru becomes “badass”…. but LIKE…. hes SO SO CAPABLE of so much destruction. he is choice itself. he is capable of changing the entire world and everyone around him. he is capable of causing the deaths and trauma for SO MANY PEOPLE… and like i think rezero itself and subarus relationships are like an extreme version of hedgehog’s dilemma, u know? like u get close to people to love and be loved, but ur also very vulnerable to getting hurt. and rezero is About love. and part of close relationships are that ur so close u Can be hurt. maybe you Will be hurt. but u will also Love….. unless ur one of the ifbarus then fuck u for making the wrong decisions ig wodndndn. im telling u guys that subaru is LITERALLY an eldritch being at this rate. todd is so right.

and. okay one last thing im gonna be real for a second. im a little eh on subaru being a child, honestly. like i DO like the trope of turning characters back into their child selves in order to explore their psychology that way!! but like. idk i feel like the childbaru arc is kinda too similar to the whole amnesiabaru arc in arc 6. it feels Extraneous. it doesnt feel different enough for me personally. (emphasis on personally. this is all my opinion hah.) and then he is STILL A CHILD IN ARC 8 EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT GOT TURNED INTO KIDS ARE NOW BACK TO NORMAL…… LIKE…. im sorry but the childbaru has overstayed its welcome by the time we get to arc 8 imo 😭😭

The glitch of surprise that suddenly your face presented was new, you were used to saying reckless shit all the time without a second thought or a glimpse of regret, however, you were now both in unknown territory. Perhaps a few sexual innuendos were shared between the two of you a couple of times, but you were always companioned by the other pogues, never in such intimacy or silence despite the music blasting from outside. Your eyes locked with one another; you took a sharp breath and closed your sight which served as a confirmation of a moment of vulnerability, you almost choked on your second hit when you heard the door lock and before you had a chance to protest, he snatched the weed off your fingers.

"What if I do?" Through all the snarkiness and confidence that was now transpiring through his body, his voice managed to betray him with a hint of hesitancy before inhaling the burnt plant.

You gulped, —Better death than a fucking coward— your dad used to say that fucking little phrase all the goddamn time, so much so that he ended up in a wheelchair, but a hero nonetheless, and just like him, those simple words felt right this second like the death of you, "Sure you wanna play the teasing game, Barbie? You won't keep up," you whispered almost campily.

"Words aren't the only thing that I'm good at 'Sunshine'," he grabbed your jaw gently before joining your lips and exhaling in your mouth the dense smoke.

A nerve you had never in your life felt snapped from the bottom of your lip all the way down to your belly while you inhaled rather shyly, an action that could cost you the certitude of your stern glance.

What was it about JJ Maybank that just now, he was the cause of your entire body betraying your very being? Every second of every minute, of every hour, of every day that you’ve spent completely uninterested in him, was now as useless as the effort you were putting into building up the tension. But if you had to, if you really had to, if you were gonna fuck JJ Maybank at the chateau’s bathroom, the least it could be was as fucking earth-shattering as your brain had presented it to you for a while, a really funny contrast to what hanging out with him in a more normal scenario felt like.

If you had to put it in words, JJ Maybank felt like being trapped in a black room filled with neon lights and your favorite songs of all times blasting in your ears, like your favorite breakfast being served to perfection with the strongest and sweetest cup of coffee on the side, like a stormy beach with the most beautiful sunset, like a warm shower at 3 am in the middle of a party; chaotic, comfortable, mesmerizing; you were used to finding comfort in chaos, comfort in who you were, comfort in this specific word that couldn't describe you better.

Perhaps what made this situation appealing was finally seeing the two of you in a different light, desperate, needy, yet still proud enough to contain your impulses, even when you separated, you held back, not out of fear, but out of pure, raw enjoyment that obviously helped to pent up as much anticipation as you could.

"That wasn't too bad now, was it?" you tucked his hair behind his ear, "You still managed to taste what she left on me,"

"Where else is she?" he almost groaned.

"Why don't you figure it out, baby?"

"You would like that wouldn't you?"

"Me?" you asked innocently, "Projecting isn't a good look on you JJ, we both know you've wanted this since before Kiara and I broke up,"

"Maybe, the difference is I haven't done a shit job at hiding it, because I wasn't even trying," you confessed, "Truth is I've been dreaming about it, constantly, I'm surprised you've never noticed considering how loud I sound in my mind," you guessed by his dilated pupils that you've won control, "So, speak now, or forever hold your pea-"

He cut off the distance so brutally you had no choice but to moan in response, out pleasurable pain, the same sensation you were quick to reciprocate by tugging on his hair rather harshly, so much so that he really groaned this time, he proceeded with this mellifluous reaction down your throat without forgetting to ever so slightly press his fingertips on the naked mushy muscles he could reach. You practically ripped his already damaged shirt off, feeling plastic flying out of your almost ancient button-up.

By the time he reached the knot on your bikini he got patient, still wanting to make a full show out of the whole situation, delicately separating the cloth from your breasts and dropping it possibly in the shower. He bent down just enough to have you at the top of his vision. His ragged skin brushed everything in between where he began and his goal. Out of nothing but pure spite, he got knuckle-deep in you without a warning or even so much as a look.

“Fuck,” you murmured holding on to the edge of the stone.

Satisfied with your response he did it again, capturing your lips on his, as you moaned on to him, he started to fuck you with his fingers whilst slightly crooking them to tease your spot. His other hand sneaked behind your neck pulling you closer, he wanted more of you, he wanted all of you, something in his mind could only beg for more, he wanted everything, having power over you, allowing himself to feel powerless, anything he could get to fulfill his pleasure right now and for as long as he could hold on to you desiring him as well.

You gathered all strength you could to start undoing his pants like you had all the time in the world.

“Wasting no time I see, good girl,” he nodded in approval, he only paused for a split second to taunt you more.

You paused at his underwear, just sightly bothering the edge but two could play that game, as if faking lack of skill, he clumsily let his tips dance around your tied bikini pieces, he eventually undid them but not before you lowly whined out of desperation.

“Jesus Christ, ‘Sunshine’, all of this for me? No wonder your mom’s an artist, you’re her ultimate masterpiece,”

You didn't answer, instead hazily wondered why it took you so long to not be such a prideful asshole and get properly fucked by JJ Maybank.

I've seen so many allusions to the liberation of Supernatural fans with Evan Buckley the confirmed bisexual breaking that mold, but I just want to remind everyone that "chaotic brunette bisexual who didn't get to come out/fully express their sexuality in the series" is very common and borderline a trope at this point. Like just for the examples I can think of off the top of my head:

Point is, this is a win across a LOT of fandoms (including Supernatural, not trying to exclude them or anything), and hopefully a sign of more canonical bisexuality to come.

Also this would be an amazing friend group to behold and I lowkey want to write a fic about this -- I looked it up and apparently the word for a group of ten (in the way that trio refers to a group of three and so forth) is 'decade', which isn't confusing at all considering it's common colloquial use but -- decade, including Buck, meeting and talking. I have no earthly idea how to set up them running into each other though.

Love that so many people in the fandom read the scene where Sirius is too busy silently communicating with James to notice a girl eyeing him and immediately went “ah, Sirius is a player and dates/hooks up with people frequently.” We never see anyone canonically confirmed to be his ex or current significant other, and Sirius himself was more focused on the war than romance (16 year old Sirius hears people discussing their relationship drama and mostly wants to know why the hell that is a priority, surely the increasing number of homicides happening outside would rank higher on the list of concerns.

Sirius, regularly about romantic news: yeah, great for you and all, but did you hear about what happened to the Bones family?)

I could go both ways on this one! I absolutely do lean more towards Sirius not being a player, obviously. He has too much other shit going on during the first war, and also he's obsessed with James. And yes, we have that canon scene where he Does Not Notice a girl staring at him.

But I also don't mind player Sirius that much! I mean, when the het writers write him as a heterosexual player, that's obviously laughable. The Sirius/OFC people are obviously extremely divorced from reality and are just writing self-insert fic (nothing wrong with that but I WILL make fun of it on my own blog lol). But I can see chaotic bisexual Sirius Black hooking up with lots of different people, though we don't have any canon evidence of that. I don't see him really being invested in any of them, though. They're just to let off steam.

(I also would really love to see aroace Sirius someday, especially in a post-POA fic. But unfortunately whenever Sirius isn't romantically paired with Remus, people then pair Remus with Tonks by default, which I of course despise. Let him be gay even when he's not with Sirius ffs! But yes give me aroace Sirius rights PLEASE)

Also what irks me is player Remus Lupin lmao that boy has never gotten laid in his LIFE

Why I'm excited and not worried about the Witcher season 3

season 3 will be awesome and much closer to the books than season 2, don't believe me? I have proof

We are now about 3 weeks out from the season 3 premier, comparatively 3 weeks out from season 2 there where already reports about a lot of the stuff that wasn't in the books.

-Eskel`s death,

-2 big fight scenes at Kaer Morhen,

-Voleth Meir,an all powerful evil magical being that tricks those who want their deepest desires,

-the scenes together with Yen and Fringilla

-and expanded roles for Istredd and Fringilla( I actually liked these editions finding them much more interesting than in the books where they are just involved in love triangle stuff with Geralt and Yen)

but we know that many beloved scenes from Time of Contempt are making it in as well as a few crucial skipped moments from blood of elves

based on the trailer we are getting alot more family bonding, fluff, laughter Yen teaching Ciri magic, Geralt and Yen rekindling there relationship , Geralt and Jaskier actually being friends now ( apparently the writers have learned that you can have slow moments of characters just talking, laughing and getting along, they don't have to just bicker, fight monsters , and encounter evil all the time ) (( that's the last of the salt in this post I promise))

first of all, Stephen Surjik director of the A Grain of Truth episode is returning

based on the trailer/stills, casting reports, as well as set scouting pictures from Redanian Intelligence, we have these scenes confirmed :

- Jaskier singing to the dryads in Brokilon

- the scenes in Shaerrawedd

-Geralt visiting Codringher and Fenn

-Ciri and Fabio Sachs, the circus and the Wyvern

- The Thanedd Ball

- Ciri in the Korath Desert, with Ihuarraquax

- Geralt fight with Vilgefortz

comparatively I don't think we had any confirmed in the book scenes in the speculation before season 2

the only changes I that I have found are:

Jaskiers bisexuality and romance with Radovid and Vespula

Id like to clear up some rumors here, they are not “ aging up a character who is later a tyrant” this Radovid is King Vizimir`s Brother, not his son, a completely different character, and there are multiple characters named Radovid in the Redanian royal line in the books so its not impossible for the two characters to happen to have the same name in this instance

for the people who are upset about this change, they already changed Jaskier from the books, there he’s the archetypical pervy, womanizer bard archetype, in the show he still sleeps around with wives alot but he`s more of a golden Retriever “ falls in love with everyone” type than a skirt chasing pervert. So if most people were positive about this change, why should what gender his lovers are matter homophobia that's why

Frankly im just glad we are getting a bisexual male character that will be involved romantically with a man a and a woman on screen as two different relationships I cant even think of any examples on tv of that

the possible premature fate of Rience

honestly this one is just set scouting speculation that he dies here, but I really don't think people are going to be as upset at a chaotic evil character dying as they were Eskel,

The original character of Gallatin

he seems to be somewhat inspired by Isengrim and Iorweth, a scarred elf that is the leader of the Scoia’tael guerrillas, based on the fact that they felt they had to make an original character rather than use one of those two,( they likely wont be killing any book characters off prematurely who are not a villains after whole Eskel debacle) as well as reports the actor wrapped filming quickly, seem to indicate he wont survive the season ( could this be part of what leads Cahir into joining the hanza next season)

to conclude im super excited, this season is packed with scenes I ( and alot of others) have been really wanting to see I cant wait

little Peter and the Ravagers

I recently discovered Ravagers-family and now you’ll see some brainrot I’m having through this. Here are a few headcanons that I have, especially featuring baby Peter (yes, I’m calling an eight year-old a baby).

Peter - after some time when he starts to trust the crew more and more - starts to be his clingy self and is usually seen either grabbing someones hand/ jacket/pants or being carried around on their backs/shoulders. They argue doing so because it’s practical to not loose the little Terran that can get in trouble and hurt either him or others easily, even when it’s often Peter who initates the rides by just climbing up his newest victim. After some time it becomes routine for them and - even though they would never admit it - they grow fond of the wild and clingy Terran who seems so mesmerized by everything he sees and is allowed to try out.

addition: Peter was just a child when they got him from earth. The emotional effect of losing his mom - the person he loved the most -, the easily overcoming exhaustion that kids can get after a day and his body as well as mind needing to get used to his new suroundings lead to him being tired quickly and eventually falling asleep. When that happens one of them - usually Yondu, Kraglin, Yullk or Oblo - picks him up rather carefully to carry him around until he wakes up or they can put him into bed.

Peter is a wild and loud boy. When he gets a tiny bit older and more comfortable he starts running, jumping and dancing around the ship setting everyone else into a state of terror that the little Terran could dash around a corner at any moment with no care about them, crazy moves and a high singing voice. And it’s even worse for them - or that’s what they say at least - when he tries to get them to join his dancing and singing. He got almost everyone he asked to do it except Yondu who just gave him the usual look of don’t you even dare everytime he tried. But when he was sure no one was looking he sometimes allowed himself to move his leg, hand or head to the rythm (Kraglin actually saw it from time to time but swore for his own safety to never mention it).

speaking of Kraglin, he somehow becomes something like a brother to Peter. Some think it’s because he looks a bit like a Terran too or because he’s one of the seemingly youngest crew members or because he is in the closer circle of their captain and therefore also Peter who hovers around Yondu a lot - but they never know. So for whatever reason, Peter elected him as one of his most trusted people on the ship and much to the other’s dismay he also becomes Peter’s partner in crime. They pull a lot of pranks that more often than not also happen to be dangerous for themself too - especially considering the not very happy reactions of the other members on the ship. Yondu sometimes scolds them a bit but usually he views it as not his problem but rather something that his men have to work out themself (he also can’t get himself to properly punish the little Terran so he decides to not even try it and get suspicion).

here comes a headcanon of mine (actually it’s confirmed and canon in the comics) that Peter’s bisexual. He didn’t have the full impact of earth’s shitty society regarding that topic but there was still much he had already experienced which had made clear to him that liking other boys was something he wasn’t allowed to do - like his classmates laughing at the two boys who held hands or his uncle scoffing at the young couple in the grocery store. So when he is a teenager and first grasps the reality of what he’s feeling (and what he’d basically known for much longer when he thinks about it) he tries to ignore it, surpress it and never ever mention it because if it’s seen that bad at earth how bad is it in space. He doesn’t know how this group of aggresive out-laws that became his fairly chaotic family react to something like this. He’s scared at first, stops dancing and singing so much because it might be suspicious when he thinks about it, but that’s when he also starts paying more attention to the others. And he sees Kraglin flirting with literally everyone in that club they are crashing at and those two Ravagers that are clearly more than he’d thought when he hadn’t looked at them that observanlty before. He calms down when he gets more and more clues that they in fact don’t give a shit about that topic. He still isn’t sure if it’s just at the Ravagers like that or if actually most of space is more open than earth. However he eventually starts letting lose again, dances and sings, makes comments and also flirts with who he wants.
