Just finished watching First Kill in it’s entirety and I am flabbergasted. Absolutely floored. My head hurts from crying and trying not to cry. I love all the characters. All of them. (Spoilers under the cut tho)

Except Oliver. I KNEW I couldn’t trust that bitch!! I get he wants revenge on his family but dude… literally Juliette is the only sensible one of the family. Smh. All she wants is Calliope’s (hope I spelled her name right sksks) love and this motherfucker just had to come around and make it harder for his own pride. Bro Elinor was bitchy and has her merciless moments but Oliver is just as wicked I’m not even gonna cap. I think they both have their charm to them though like,,, even though Oliver’s plot felt a little tedious to follow I still really like all the (consistent) characters that we were given.

Thoughts on Writing

Today's writing thought is about how I didn't start feeling super confident until I realized that I don't have to worry about how much sense it makes to other people. Right? Let me explain.

Obviously, plot points and character motivations and the main content should make sense; it's how we present it that we have more freedom than most writers seem to think we do. The metaphors we choose or the descriptions we focus on are part of what creates the world around the story. I used to stress so much about if my metaphors were weird or if the way a character's feeling is relatable. I'd write out something that felt right, but then go back and rewrite it into something I'd feel is more likely to be understood. Even sentence structures and text formatting felt like they had to be a certain way.

But the crazy thing? I think that the "weirder" we get with our writing, the more relatable it becomes. Writing is a tool used to take what's in my mind and shove it into someone else's mind with nothing more than text on a page/screen-- and our minds don't pick out perfect comparisons or ideal sentences. Thoughts are messy and disorganized, and finding the balance between that and clarity is one of the primary jobs for a writer.

Or maybe none of this makes sense, and I'm just finding ways to justify my writing quirks. Still, I felt like sharing it, all the same!
