THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY AND THEIR LOVE LANGUAGES.

Forgive me for any mistakes of lore, names or character traits etc.. I am bad at remembering things.

Not proof read.

ALSO NOTE THAT THIS DOESN'T MEAN "THESE ARE THE ONLY LANGUAGES THAT WORK ON THEM" IT MEANS "THESE ARE THE ONES THAT WORK BEST OUT OF ALL OF THEM"

And theres things like least favorite, too.

Think like co-playing. Both in the same room doing different things. Sometimes talking

This one is probably pretty intense for him, so he only lets it actually sink in if it's a short sentiment from someone he truly cares about. Like, a friend being like "wow you're so cool!" Would definitely make him feel good, and probably inflate his ego/self esteem, but wouldn't really set in. But if like, Peter or Mantis etc. said something like "I appreciate everything you do for this team, we love you" that might actually hit hard. That's what I mean when I put words of affirmation here

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

QUALITY TIME.

These two are his most standard forms of affection. He also gives them like he receives them. So, if someone he's friends with is a silent type, comfortable silence in the same room. If they're talkative, some light chatting is ok, and so on. Words of affirmation from him would most likely just be surface level stuff like "Good job" "You're not as dumb as I thought" "that's a neat trick" etc. sort of a friendly bullying. How people respond to that bullying tells him a lot about someone, usually. Just like with himself, if he's particularly close to someone, he may let out the occasional genuine praise without a layer of sarcasm.

LEAST FAVORITE

Physical touch.

Yeah, ouch, I know.

Not only is he smaller than everyone, which might make physical touch overwhelming, but he also has the situation on his back. But deep down, I think he's a bit touch starved (Everyone in the dang MCU is at this point) and secretly enjoys it. You just can't be heavy handed, and he really has to trust you. And too much too frequently may make him feel like a pet. So be careful.

(theres no way he would admit though, If asked about it he would simply say "Cause I don't want you gross sweaty skin bags all over me", referring to most peoples lack of fur)

PETER QUILL

RECEIVING

With Peter it heavily depends on where you are in his timeline. The "golden age" Peter, where Gamora is alive and in love, and its good times for everyone, is probably not focused on relationships outside of the team (which might be part of his issues that were addressed in Vol 3.) The "everyone I love is dead" peter is in an extreme depressive state and obviously isn't going to be making new friends or even be responsive to his current friends (for the most part). The post Vol3 "Reconciled with my dad and stopped hopping on lily pads" Peter is new man! But also the same, being like a rebuilt version of himself. He would now, in my opinion, value every relationship he has. Every opportunity he has to be with other people becomes valuable, and everything he does is to honor the people who loved him when no one else did (Mama Quill, Yondu, Gamora etc.) and serve the people who love him now and kept loving him even through hard times. (Rocket, Mantis, Drax, Groot etc.).

With that said,

ACTS OF SERVICE

GIFT GIVING

I see Peter feeling loved more through actions and physical items because of what he's been through, making him crave things that are solid and real. Also Yondu was a lil trinket collector so that may turn up in Peter too. But, I also think Peter may feel a little guilty when receiving gifts. Very grateful, though.

Because even despite what I just said, I think a solid "You're so strong, I look up to you" every now then would make him giggle and kick his feet a little internally.

And listening to music together or sharing music is also particularly special

At the end of the day, he's just happy to be around loved ones.

Just as you may be doing right now, he would probably try and figure out what the specific person likes. So his giving just depends on the person.

LEAST FAVORITE.

He doesn't really have one. He just wants to be loved.

DRAX

(The destroyer (and protector))

Drax is probably receptive to most forms of affection, but it has to be obvious and clearcut.

Like, doing subtle things in the background might not get his attention, but hugging him directly and saying something like "I appreciate you as a person and for everything you do for the team" would be a lot better, and mean a lot more to him, even though its a very bold/blunt move. Theres probably a balance between blunt and subtle, but it would be pretty easy to strike. You also don't want to leave room for interpretation if you're afraid of him misinterpreting the difference between platonic and romantic affection. Its a slippery slope, but as long as you avoid using the word 'love' without platonic clarification too many times, you'll be good.

Also Drax does does not make friends in the traditional sense, he simply decides who is and who is not his friend. Whether they know about it or not. Not even in a way thats like cold and calculated or something, he just thinks it in his own head and decides it, expecting the others to simply Know.

With that said,

RECEIVING

PHYSICAL TOUCH.

I say this is probably both receiving and giving, but he's probably less likely to give and more open to receive. I feel like he would just kinda stand there the first few times someone hugged him, but if it became a routine thing, he would become more reciprocal. That might sound like he doesn't like physical touch, but I think its rather the fact that along with his other social skills, physical affection just turns out.. different.. for him. Like when he pet Rocket. I think he's a physical person, it just comes out weird. I want to hug him. If you touch his muscles too much he may get weirded out, or think you like him.

GIVING GIFTS

If you give him something he likes, like zarg-nuts, oh boy. He will DEFINITELY like you. Thats all to be said.

Things like "You're ugly, but thats good because then you know who really loves you", y'know.

GIFT GIVING

Will offer you zarg-nuts. Thats a big deal.

LEAST FAVORITE

Probably Quality Time, but only if its boring. I think he actually sees things like fighting alongside the team as quality time, so it might just be different than how we would interpret quality time.

Again, he probably is just generally receptive to each language so you can't really go wrong, as long as you come across right.

GAMORA (pre and post)

So, much like quill, she has three versions. During Thanos, Golden Age, and Multiverse. I'll do Golden Age and Multiverse because I don't think During Thanos is interesting, at least not for this specific post.

Also golden age and multiverse are technically two different people.

GOLDEN AGE GAMORA

Golden age Gamora is, in my opinion, a very deeply feeling woman. She can be stone cold when she needs to, but I feel like she is very emotionally intelligent especially as she gets closer with the team. She is also very loving, and is often 'the rock' of a friendship. Or just generally the level headed, down to earth one.

RECEIVING

QUALITY TIME

Definitely finds spending time together and talking valuable. Even listening to music together is special.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION

As long as the words are honest and not trying to just flatter her or try and get in good with her, she appreciates it. Honest praise goes a long way. Too much too often may make her embarrassed.

GIVING

Since she *is* rather emotionally intelligent, I imagine she would figure out what that person is most receptive to, and display that. But if it's someone she likes, like Peter, she may get bashful and have a hard time acting natural with it and would probably revert to her own preferred language.

LEAST FAVORITE

GIFT GIVING.

I imagine her upbringing caused her to not be a materialistic person. That said, gifts can be extremely special to her, but its just rare. So giving her flowers doesn't do anything but like if Peter gave her a mixtape, thats different.

MULTIVERSE GAMORA

A more hot headed, less sensitive version of golden age. Meaning she's probably more standoffish and less emotionally intelligent, but not by a lot, just sort of by the trimmings and details of her personality. Being with the ravagers probably does that to most anyone. Golden age has more motherly vibes, while multiverse has more protective older sister vibes.

PHYSICAL TOUCH.

In the form of rough housing and play fighting with her ravager friends. Not exactly in a tender way, although I do see sort of the "let me patch you up" angst. One of the differences between the two is that multiverse is more afraid to be vulnerable.

GIFT GIVING

Surprisingly. I think the ravager life style may make her a little more appreciative of having her own things. I imagine theres a lot of competitiveness for special food and special items, even if its playful. Even though something unnecessary like flowers may not excite her, things like a newer, stronger weapon could mean a lot. Golden Age may not feel the exact same only because it's probably more accessible. But lets say if its something Rocket made her, then it would be inherently valuable because its from her friend. With multiverse, things gain inherent value when they're useful.

LEAST FAVORITE

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

She doesn't need you to tell her she's doing a good job, she already knows. Compliments are only effective from people she respects above peer-level, which is rare. Joking around with her friends (loving insults, etc) is different though.

Baby Groot, Teen Groot, Young Adult Groot, Adult Groot, Groot Senior. So many choices. I'll do them ALL. (Except adult groot cause we just saw him for a few minutes so like- yknow)

GROOT SENIOR

Since Groot sr. was treated "more as animal" than a person, I imagine he doesn't have a concept of love language at all. Therefor, I will say that anything he perceives as loving, caring and protective action is his love language both giving and receiving. R.I.P. legend you will not be forgotten 🪽🕊️🕊️ 🙏 💯

BABY GROOT

He's a baby, so in theme for babies, attention, physical affection, and quality time are pretty much his main priorities. He ain't got much going on. Older baby groot, like toddler groot, is more active and perceptive, so I'd say his main receiving language is words of affirmation, and his main giving language is acts of service.

TEEN GROOT

Teen groot is broody and angsty, and he's definitely not thinking about other's feelings. So I'm gonna say while it's rare, when he does show affection, it's act of service. Receiving is pretty much anything, he doesn't really care right now.

At least not about the specifics.

YOUNG ADULT GROOT

Now, groot is much more loving and affectionate. He is receptive to all love languages, and gives them all too. Except, theres not much use in words of affirmation for him unless he really loves the person.

RECEIVING

Anything. As long as she can clearly tell it's love/affection, it's effective. Like Peter, she just wants to be loved.

GIVING

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

Being able to verbally explain how she feels to someone, and how she may appreciate that person, is the most confident option for her. She thinks that it's pretty effective, and is the safest option. She probably also never got a lot of affection at all before the Guardians, but I think she appreciates mental and social affection more than physical.

LEAST FAVORITE

Doesn't have one.

QUALITY TIME.

Like board games and stuff, or at least thats what I think she wants, deep down. I feel like maybe she doesn't realize this is one of her love languages. Like it's subconscious.

GIFT GIVING.

With her upbringing, she only had things taken away. Giving her something of importance may mean a lot to her. Like her new arm in Vol3. Again since shes still a little emotionally constipated, she may not really realize this.

GIVING.

She doesn't really understand how to sort of actively pursue a friendship or how to read someones love language, so her giving language is probably just existing in the same space as someone without criticizing them. Because she doesn't quite know how to do more than that, or at least isn't comfortable right now. But she wants to and deep down she's trying.

Hello! I am going to be doing a rewritten version of Warriors with many changes made to improve quality, such as changes to certain rules (to avoid the same rehashed drama), relationships (lifting most if not all major incest cases, as well as making some dynamics more healthy, and actual LGBT relationships and trans cats), no more unexplained offscreen disappearances (including the Missing Kits), the Tribe as a WHOLE, and many more that will be listed within.

This is the start of the entire series being rewritten, start to finish.

Into The Wild

(I'm currently unsure of how TBC and ASC will be due to some pretty big ripple effects)

Every Leader ceremony will be written as bonus content at the end of a book where they become leader if they do not already have one.

Some of the older 'forgotten' rules of the series, such as queens not giving the name of the father's name, have been reinstated.

Many OC cats will be added in as background "filler" characters to prevent inbreeding and take out some of the age gap romances. Many background cats that come "out of nowhere" are simply what has been stated in canon. The Clans are bigger than what we see, but not everyone is that important. Once moved into "The Named Zone" however, they will not leave until death or departure.

More unique names! The clan cats know some more things! And I'm not killing off kittens for the obvious reason of "name too long", Lavenderkit, Dandelionkit, Bluebellkit and other 'too long' names are no longer reserved for children who die before they're even a character.

Many times, a good thing will happen to a character that was dealt a poor hand in canon. This has major ripple effects, and I am also a fan of the law of Equivalent Exchange. :)

The misogynistic writing is now a thing of the past. No more punishing ladies for decisions the men also make, no more pushing them to be nothing but baby makers as their happy ending, and certainly no more random derailment of character just because the point of view is a fragile male.

And of course, the obvious. No more fucking ableism. I will be researching how EXACTLY blind and deaf cats hunt. No more forced Medicine Cats and early retirements. As well as other things that real cats can experience, such as missing limbs, missing tails, asthma, dementia, PTSD, anxiety and depression.

HISTORY: When Cassius was caught as a pawn in a power game between two noble women, he attempted to flee his city. He was rescued by a trio of Silverhair Knights; clerics of the goddess Eilistraee, who took Cassius back to their community of converts. His time spent with the knights was in awe, and Cassius aspired to join their ranks, but unbeknownst to him, the noble women had turned their game into hunting him down. Cassius was eventually captured to be brought back to the city, awaiting either slavery or sacrifice to Lolth. While imprisoned, a cambion came to him and offered means of freedom. Cassius took the deal, gaining eldritch abilities. Physically marking the change, his hair went from white to black. He used his newfound power to kill those that held him prisoner. When he returned to the Silverhair Knights, however, they shunned him for breaking their specific group's rule against murder, even in self-defence. Cassius was cast out, and with nowhere else to go, sought refuge above ground.

HISTORY: When Marin’s father survived a shipwreck by washing up onto the shore of an isolated island off the Moonshae Isles, he was nursed back to health by a marid that lived there. As the months passed, they sought a deeper form of companionship, and soon, Marin was born. As Marin grew older though, Callum grew bitterer about being stuck on the island. When the day finally came that a group of explorers found Callum and offered to take him home, he took little Marin and left, never to see Marin's mother again. Marin was happily accepted by the people of Caer Callidyrr, believing her to be a blessing upon them. Even from a young age, she was regarded as the life of a party, eager to entertain with dancing and singing. She soon picked up a fiddle, and was hailed as a prodigy in that as well. Marin had no plans to ever leave her life as an Islander, but when her father died, she decided she needed a change of scenery, at least for a while. This led her to Baldur’s Gate. She didn’t get much of a chance to see the city though, for the very day of her arrival, she was abducted by Mind Flayers.

HISTORY: Sekewa’t’s mother, Kloqowej, was once a member a small group in service of Lathander, called the Champions of Dawn. However, her beliefs grew so fanatical, giving less and less room for anything but her idea of purity, that she was kicked out. In her mind, the order’s leniency caused evil to prosper, and was therefore corrupt. Kloqowej’s faith was so overwhelming that it gained angelic attention – a Deva, enamoured with her devotion. Sekewa’t was birthed from their union. From a young age, Sekewa’t struggled with his scourge blood’s constant demand for the destruction of all evil. That Kloqowej raised Sekewa’t to believe his divine destiny was to bring a pure renewal to the world, didn’t help matters. When Sekewa’t was sixteen, his mother instructed him to destroy the Champions of Dawn. He did so with a righteous fury, fueled by the belief that he was finally fighting the evil his blood called for him to fight. But when every Champion laid dead on the ground, Kloqowej’s passionate praise could not quell the pain Sekewa’t felt in his chest. Then, every light in the building went out; a clear sign of Lathander’s disapproval. Horrified, Sekewa’t lashed out at his mother, demanding an explanation. When she had none, Sekewa’t struck her down, too. Feeling completely lost, Sekewa’t turned to prayer all through the night, seeking forgiveness from the Morninglord. When the dawn came, he found a warm breeze caressing his face, and interpreted this as hope. Ever since, Sekewa’t has been travelling on his own, attempting to balance his uncontrollable hunger to hunt evil with his questions of what “evil” really was.

Zi'ra

HISTORY: Zi'ra, like all githyanki, was raised in a rigid and meritocratic crèche, where she was trained in combat from a very young age. While she grew to be capable in battle, she began to grow disillusioned with her life, questioning the harsher parts of githyanki society. Zi'ra partook in a raid on a ghaik stronghold as part of her rite of passage into adulthood, when she hesitated on killing a soon to be enthralled half-elf. As punishment, her leader left her behind and told her to escape on her own, to prove herself to Queen Vlaakith. Zi'ra did end up getting out alive… but not without an extra passenger in her head.

HISTORY: [TW for colonial themes, including abduction] Itzel grew up in a yuan-ti city-state in the jungle of the northern Chultan Peninsula. From a young age, she felt a strong connection to the people’s faith in the Grandfather Serpent, and knew she wanted to dedicate herself to his temple. And so, when she turned eighteen, she started down the path of becoming a guardian of the priesthood. In just two years, she from an apprentice to a novice member. When the priests of her city received word that their assistance was needed in a temple in another settlement, Itzel was part of the guard to escort them… but the group never reached their intended destination. They were intercepted by a large band of mercenaries working for Fort Beluarian (a colonial outpost of Baldur’s Gate). The mercenaries attacked Itzel’s party and killed them all but her, whom they spared only because their leader, a fighter named Crawford, decided he was in love. Crawford brought Itzel back to his estate in Athkatla with him, where she spent nearly ten years as his imprisoned wife. But the day finally came where the opportunity presented itself for her to strike back, Itzel took it, and killed him. The guard found her and arrested her for murder, not willing to listen to her story. She was only saved from execution by being abducted by illithids instead.

HISTORY: Vesper has no knowledge of her biological parents, as her mother abandoned her immediately after birth. She dropped the new-born tiefling off at a temple dedicated to Mystra in a small settlement called Wandermere on the way to Baldur’s Gate. Vesper was communally raised by the temple clerics, who taught her their ways since infancy. She proved to be a natural study at magical theory and practice, and the clerics instilled in her a deep reverence for their deity. But while Vesper felt greatly loved by all in the temple, she yearned for the outside world that all her overprotective stand-in parents said was too dangerous. Vesper would pester every traveller who stopped at the temple for details of their adventures, while dreaming of her own. Finally, the day came when the clerics of the temple agreed to let her explore Faerûn, so long as it was in the name of expanding her knowledge and connection with the Lady of Mysteries. They had no way of knowing her adventure would take a sharp turn off course, when she was taken captive on an illithid nautiloid.

HISTORY: Briza’s mother, Elise, was a young woman from a small hamlet called Murkhaven outside the Misty Forest, the daughter of a shopkeeper who tolerated trade with the elves that lived in the secretive kingdom within. One of the elves that frequented the shop was a young man named Coriandrum, with whom Elise easily became smitten with. The feeling was reciprocated by Coriandrum, and the two began an affair that resulted in Elise’s pregnancy. Unfortunately, Elise died in childbirth, and filled with both grief and hate, when Coriandrum next returned, Elise’s parents lied and said that the child died along with Elise. They told Coriandrum to never return, and heartbroken over the loss of his love, he agreed. Coriandrum was overjoyed to recognize Briza as his child, but there was one problem: King Melandrach’s most enforced rule was that the woodland kingdom was for elves only. Coriandrum begged the king to allow Briza to stay, advocating that they were just as much an elf as human, and therefore had every right. While Melandrach reluctantly agreed, Briza grew up from that point on feeling like they had to work twice as hard to belong in their community. But their father, close friends and family were always there as a beacon of support. Because of their growing prowess as a ranger, Briza was among those selected to escort King Melandrach to Waterdeep for an anniversary banquet celebrating the 1489 victory over the Cult of the Dragon. During this fateful visit, Briza was among those taken prisoner by illithids upon a nautiloid.

HISTORY: Many draconic bloodlines are ancient, spawning powerful sorcerers all the way down a family tree. Arcene’s line however, is very young and newly complex. Her human grandmother fell for a silver dragon that took the form of another human. Her elven mother in tern fell for her half-dragon father. Arcene’s noble elven grandparents disapproved of this union however, and successfully convinced Arcene’s mother to abandon her father in exchange for recognizing Arcene as their granddaughter. As such, Arcene was raised in secluded wealth, but never had the benefit of knowing her father, or having anyone to teach her to control her magic. Arcene grew to resent her mother for her choice, and grew to resent feeling like a princess trapped in a tower. She knew nothing but luxury, but was entirely isolated in it. Arcene chose to flee from her noble life, and was in the midst of leaving Baldur’s Gate when she was abducted by the Mind Flayers.

HISTORY: Valencia is the youngest among five daughters and two sons of Lady Jovana, Matriarch of House Brecantio in Menzoberranzan. Their minor noble house rose to power through a long-lasting alliance with a deep dragon, who agreed to provide powerful heirs for the house as long as they in return continued to gift the dragon a hoard of powerful magic items every 100 years. As such, Valencia was raised in a home full of draconic sorcerers, and taught from birth to relish in her power. House Brecantio may not have the strongest army, but their true power lied in their individual powers; as a house full of sorcerers, they were frequently consulted to aid other houses in a variety of military and political endeavours. Valencia was expected to develop her diplomacy skills just as much as her magic, though in truth, she grew a preference for brute intimidation over anything else. The fact that she was easily one of the most powerful sorcerers the house had, certainly helped with that… but it also painted a target on her back. Valencia survived her first assassination attempt at age 30. 150 years later and she’s survived more than she can count, most coming from within her own house. She’s developed an incredible amount of paranoia because of this. But despite the attempts against her, she has never bothered to retaliate, feeling like it would be beneath her to treat anyone else as a worthy threat.
