I think a lot of Dream’s Bad Attitude Before (that he’s making an effort to recover from) can be described as:
-when he meets Hob Humanity is in the middle of the Black Death. Listen to the pub and they’re convinced that it’s the “end of the world” (including “Two Popes WTH.”
-the Fay are Leaving. It takes them a few centuries to fully close up shop but. When Dream interrupts his dinner date with his TotallyNotCasualFriend it’s YES rude as HELL (poor Hob) to go bug Shakespeare, but his motivations? Work related. But also he wants to give the Fay a goodbye gift (if The Sandman is renewed for a s2 I am looking forward to seeing Fay watching Midsummer’s Night Dream + Dream being the Lonely Wet Cat while chatting with Titania)
-in The Doll’s House arc, Dream admits to The Corinthian that he’s quite literally the collective of Humanity’s subconscious. His “rules” are basically an effort to not get overwhelmed and consumed by it (like, say, poor Delirium and Despair.)
-Dream is also not very good (to make a gross understatement of the century) at coping with his own grief and despair and depression and feelings of rejection and All Around Negative Emotions very well at all. By the time he rescues his ex wife he’s still unable to process his grief for their son. When he visits Hell to get his helm/sigil back he still cannot stop being a petty ass and Let Nada Go.
So…yeah. Mix this all together? Is it really that surprising Dream is initially so cynical then cautiously fascinated by Hob? Unwilling to admit that they’re Actually Friends (especially from an Endless’s perspective, once a century for six centuries is…not even a week.)
This is also why Death trying to drag Dream “out of the house” then arranging him to meet up with a mortal who says “y’know? Fuck that. I love life. Even when it sucks” is so important.
Death and arguably Johanna taught Dream to let himself care about humanity on a personal-cost level again.
Lucienne and Matthew taught him to let others help him (even when the risk is Perceived Weakness or the risk of harm coming to them poor Jessamy)
Gault reminded him that sometimes he’s wrong and everyone can change (and change for the better. Even him.)
Calliope retaught him empathy and that the best thing he can do for himself is to forgive—not in a “forgive&forget, no boundaries, trust reinstated fully like nothing happened, actions don’t matter” sort of way, but that forgiveness, ie the refusal to carry a grudge, is the best thing he can do for his own healing. And she did so by example. (Dream also says he believes her 60+ years of enslavement, isolation, and rape were so much worse than his 100+ years of being trapped naked and alone and gawked at in a sphere of glass.) Calliope also reminds him to not compare misery.
And Hob? Hob taught Dream to love life again. To allow himself to actually have friends. It took over six centuries for Dream to learn that. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t have a positive impact on him.
And I think that’s all beautiful.

I’m thinking of what Szeth’s complete arc might possibly end up looking like. I have a couple of related theories/speculations that I think would be super narratively satisfying
First, I think that young Szeth was a budding Truthwatcher. I made a long post about it once, but the short version is that Szeth’s approach to learning and problem solving feels very Truthwatcher-y to me. Also in OB, there’s evidence that he might have been in the process of bonding a spren at some point. In my Truthwatcher Szeth theory, his exile was the event that caused his new spren bond to break.
Then he was named Truthless, and lived that way for over seven years. Truthwatcher to Truthless is already tasty, but there’s another layer
The Fifth Ideal of the Skybreakers is the Ideal of Law. The way it’s described and presented in OB, the Fifth Ideal is also when the Skybreaker becomes truth. Just think about it. Truthwatcher, to Truthless, to embodying law and truth is such an incredible progression!
Of course, current Szeth isn’t there yet. He still relies on external sources to guide him and tell him what to do, because he doesn’t trust himself to see what’s right. There’s a lot of complexity there. But if he can grow toward reaching the Skybreaker Fifth Ideal, I think that would be really cool. He’d just have to work for it. But if there’s one thing Szeth is good at, it’s dedicating himself to a specific goal/objective. You could say he’s too good at those things
Anyway, I’m looking forward to finding out if anything I’ve speculated about is even close to how things eventually turn out

You know what league character really baffles me? Janna. Yeah the wind elf looking lady with gravity defying hair
Tumblr media
She’s a Demi god? Spirit thing? Who started out as a goddess that sailors would pray to for good winds in their travels on the sea. And then of course she ends up being a big part of the city that deals the most with merchants, sailors and travelers. But she’s old enough and apparently also powerful enough to have been able to keep the freakin darkin away-
(Y’know big powerful Demi gods completely high on blood magic)
Tumblr media
(Yeah like that)
-from what would be known as piltover and zaun. And I gotta reel back a bit at that because there were a lot of fkn darkin back in the day and zaun and piltover are right next to shurima which is where they fucked around the most.
Like good lord lady how the hell did you pull that off with just wind powers?
And where the heck did she even originate from? Pure speculation here but due to the blue bird that flies around her character and her general elven lookin appearance, i’d say Janna originated from the freljord what with there being a giant blue bird god there and all that.
Tumblr media
But what the actual hell is she??? I mean the only resemblance I can find in game is from Kayle and Morgana’s character models solely because they also have pointy elven like ears. Except their ears are way shorter, also they have wings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I suppose that makes sense if she really is some sort of low ranked deity because Kayle and morgana are technically also low ranked deities due to them being Demi gods.
But then there’s the fact that her name was given to her by the shurimans in the past with Janna somehow being derived from the shuriman word for guardian, or something like that.
But then if that’s the case and she really is a more of a conceptual god that takes on whatever appearance people think she has, wouldn’t she look like she was from shurima since they named her? Or has she been white washed by misconceptions in the passage of time and that’s why she’s so pale now? Idk man but trying to make sense of one of leagues oldest characters is gonna drive me crazy but god damn do I hope they show her in arcane because I REALLY want to see how they tackle her character concept.

Beware only getting from rumor and scuttle butt
But it seems at least one aspect of bringing Ganondorf back into the series was to combat some of the apologism that had grown up around him. Simply put you see an equivalent of a large dark skinned alien creature with remarkable ambition marry into the Royal family. And he is very distinct in both attitude and methodology from Ganondorf's actions and attitude
Much akin to how at this point you seriously have to wonder if they're even trying to hide that Sidon is meant to be the male love interest to link. Yona still hurts because she didn't have to be retconned in so hard. The idea link and him putting his sister to rest and meeting his hero crush for real kinda...helped him move on and commit to the person met in interim would be fine.
Tbh so much shit to unpack holding a hero crush for your older sister's alien boyfriend
Though in terms of denial this is the 1st in a while I've heard of a heterosexual couple literally cohabitating under the same roof with one bed and people are like "no they aren't married/sleeping together"
Takes me back to nanoha
So what's Goron mating/family update?
Does pothead have a name?

I just realized i can speak my thoughts into the void and perhaps in some other point of cosmic knowledge someone might see this and agree, so here we go.
Can I talk about how I think Vee ends up being an amazing fold as a character for Luz?
So here's what I mean, when 'creepy luz' was introduced, there was a surge of speculation of doppelgangers, shadow figures, essentially for the viewer, it was so much time of speculation, of inclination that perhaps Camilla was in danger, that it led us as a viewer to want Luz to return to earth, to -be a hero-
Turns out, it ends up just being Vee, someone genuinely running from a horrible situation who's a soft bean.
But Luz, doesn't get the same revelation we do, she just sees a random Luz in the same home as her mom, with no prior knowledge of the possibility of danger.
And THEN Vee tells her that she ran away from a good situation, how selfish Luz was, because Vee was caged tortured and experimented on, and Luz had it good.
Luz sees someone step into her shoes, and they end up 'doing it better'
Of course, we know Luz didn't have it easy. Vee had it horrible but that doesn't diminish that Luz was an outcast with no friends and a mother who, (just saying, amazing mom) she didn't understand/assumed hated the weird parts of her.
She thought she was being a burden.
If she could just show her mom that she's more than that.
But Vee does more as a character for us, a viewer, too.
Subconsciously, we realize-
Luz has nothing to go back for, except her mom.
There's no magic, no friends, and no problem for her to prove herself with.
And Luz realizes this too, but at a more deep and self damning level. In her mind, there is noone to miss her at earth, the world kept moving and got the 'better Luz' on top of it. (As her insecurities get worse and worse)
Then her mom simply wants her to be safe, but she interprets it as her making a promise to stay on earth and never return.
And it's heartbreaking to her, how could she?
She has friends, a girlfriend, a pseudo family. She's not 'normal' but she's loved.
Vee essentially unintentionally shoved a mountain of doubt onto Luz, and it caused her to spiral.
So when the revelation of Belos being Philip comes to a head, it all comes crashing down.
Because, if she messed up THIS bad in a place that she was accepted in, where does she belong? She doesn't belong in the human realm, and she doesn't belong in the demon realm.
Even with these doubts, she's trying to cling to the people that make her happy, she can't fail now or ever, and she can't let them die (like her father).
She tries to sacrifice herself because in a way, similar to Edas requiem, she can't see her life without them anymore.
She can't go back to being alone, she can't go back to earth now and make friends and live a life when she has one in the boiling isles.
And in that final moment, when the world crumbles around her, she's shoved into a world she doesn't belong to by her little brother, and now she can't fix her mistakes.
Now before now, she had massive doubts, and insecurities already, but Vee creates this massive ripple effect, this seed of doubt, and now, theyre in the human realm, and there's nothing they can do about it, Luz must confront herself and the realm she doesn't belong in.
Vee is essentially a driving nail on a fragile board, making small cracks that are bound to break.
But even with that, I enjoy Vee as a character.
I expect/wonder if there will be either a mini emotional explosion between the two, or something vee says pushes Luz over the edge and it leads to an emotional confrontation where her friends/girlfriend try to get through to her.
But also, i might just be wrong and Vee is just a cute character with fluffy ears and a new adorable design for Season 3

Thoughts on Buck and his actions and decisions 5a, 5b-
The thing about mental health is that sometimes the act of hypocrisy isn't due to conceit, maliciousness, or ignorance. It's not an excuse for the act, or a justification, but sometimes hypocrisy really is the byproduct of a mask being worn out of survival.
Being so tired, so disconnected from yourself emotionally (there was a post about Buck dissociating during 5a, and I believe this too), for self-preservation, that a familiar, well-worn mask can slide into place.
(Buck had explicitly stated. He hides his true feelings.)
That mask isn't rational. It's not healing. It's a cover, and it's reacting.
Whether it's reacting with good decisions or through bad coping mechanisms, it's holding the seams together while the brain comes to terms with whatever caused it to shut down.
Buck can be argued to have been wearing a mask for a very long time, something subtle and interweaved into all his actions and thoughts. Buck may not even know there's a face under the mask anymore. He may even think the mask is his face, and there's no improving from there.
Unfortunately, those decisions made while in self preservation mode aren't going to be good or kind. They're not decisions made with Buck at his best.
But, it is all apart of the emotional journey.
I have a feeling the mask is going to crack soon.
Once Eddie and Maddie, his two main pillars of support are back. It's going to split, and he's going to have to reconcile and accept the face under it.

I don't want video games to let me choose whether my character has Penis A or Penis B, I want them to administer a comprehensive twelve-part questionnaire about how I think elves reproduce and procedurally generate a set of genitals based on my answers.

Starting to have second thoughts about the octo in Splatoon 3 Side Order is agent 8. Without denial or confirmation from Nintendo it’s really starting to grate my nerves with not knowing for sure.
...Eh. If she isn’t 8, I’m sure we’ll figure out some way to add her into the chaotic mess of a family that is the NSS.

So…I don’t actually think Dream wants a romantic relationship. He certainly thinks he does (if he admits it. But since Desire and Night use his loneliness and wanting a partner to goad him in the comics, yeah he’s probably not ever going to willingly.) But I think what he’s actually looking for is a queer platonic relationship. Having a partner ruling with him (or at least not dying on him or despising him later), and not being found inadequate and aloof or too smothering or clingy. Too moody.
What I think Dream actually needs is community. Acknowledging he created the residents of The Dreaming because he’s desperately lonely. That it’s okay to accept (even mortals) as friends. It’s okay to admit fault and listen (he’s getting there.) That asking for help doesn’t equate weakness (whereas pride is a weakness of character), and that it’s okay to keep asking others for help for some other trouble even after help was refused (he’s working on that too.)

A portrait of beloved professor Elias Scrimshaw. Elias is one of the stranger creatures from the species exchange program. An intelligent parasitic entity that can live in and manipulate a host's body for hundreds of years. Elias's species keep active only the bodily systems that are most needed, such as those involved in locomotion and eating. The unessential parts of the body are consumed, often Reducing the host species to what is essentially an animated husk which is kept preserved with a special cocktail of antibacterial fluids produced in Elias's strange asymmetric body. His preferred field of study deals with the biomechanics and life cycles of extraterrestrial parasites. His unique perspective and insight has offered great leaps in interstellar medicine by helping provide treatments for rare and often deadly parasitic infections. Not wanting to offend his host planet he took over the form of a stray cat which he assumed to be a local source of food before realizing it was in fact a common household pet. He has since expressed his deepest apologies for this mix up and has advised cat lovers to perhaps reconsider taking his class.

"But Buck was trying to get Eddie's attention."
Well I have some thoughts on that! I think Buck does like Tommy, and there's no confusion for him about that. His feelings for both people can coexist!
My interpretation of last night's events for our chaotic bisexual kind of played out as him trying to get both Tommy's and Eddie's attention at different times. And not really knowing why. I think he was having feelings he couldn't really process because he didn't have the right context for those feelings and hasn't really felt them before.
So call me a clown but my thoughts are that he was definitely feeling jealous of both of them. With Eddie, he's primarily been close with only women outside of the 118, not other guys. Buck's subconscious feelings (not known to him at the time or even fully now) may have been along the lines of "Eddie likes women, I have no competition" and then in swoops Tommy (someone Buck already thinks is really cool and wanted to get to know even if he didn't quite know why yet) and his brain goes "I have competition" about both Eddie taking his new interest's attention and Tommy taking his long time interest's attention.
But then Tommy comes back into focus and clearly shows interest in Buck, so it clicks! This was that feeling! Part of the puzzle has been solved— it's just the rest that isn't as obvious to him yet.
Because without understanding his sexuality, Buck has likely only ever viewed Eddie as a friend even if along the way he has felt things that friends don't typically feel. So what we have right now is an opportunity for Buck to explore his bisexuality as a completely separate thing from Eddie, and then come to understand what he has also been feeling for Eddie without realizing before.
Or I'm completely wrong but only time will tell.

I love to see Loid's protective side towards Yor growing at a steady pace.
Loid has always been so protective towards Yor from the beginning, even before he himself was aware.
As shown at chp. 5
Tumblr media
Here, he has just met Yor, but the moment Swan dared to stomp on her feelings, he got agitated and defend her right away. Even though, he still able to stop himself, and rationalize things.
It happened again during chp. 30
Tumblr media
Look at how fast Loid's expression changed from "Hey, what are you doing here, Fiona?" Into "I dare you to say another word about Yor (grrrr)", at the exact moment Fiona dare to imply how worthless Yor was.
Still, after this time, once again Loid rationalized all of actions are for mere mission sake, even though we know during later chapter that he dislike the disguise that imply he and Fiona were married couple.
During Wheeler arc, at chp. 86, Loid finally aware about his "weakness". And that weakness is someone named Yor.
Tumblr media
(smh. 🙄🙄 This man really is slow in learning about feelings. But he is getting there......)
Nevertheless, this realization really evoke his protective side. And almost immediately after this moment, he started to actively move to protect Yor, even in the slightest sign of possible 'attack'.
Tumblr media
At the latest chapter, chp. 94, a.k.a only in 6 chapters later, he even starts to actively use his physical power to prevent even the slightest discomfort to happen towards Yor.
Tumblr media
Look at how hard Loid gripped that man's arm for daring to suggest tying Yor up. And that glare??? Geeezzzz.....
Now, I have a desperate need to see Loid going full attack towards someone who dares to hurt Yor either pysiologically or (is it possible?) physically in somekind of situation like maybe something like (shameless self promotion here) my fic.
Please Endoooooo, I'm begging you..... 🙏🙏
Give us more protective and jealous Loid.
I need to see it 😫😫😫😫😫

It just bugs me
There is no person who has been more instrumental in the recent development of piltover then Mel Madarda.. Yet people say she cannot die because it would reduce her to a prop to Jayce's manpain.
Apparently it wouldn't be a prop to Jinx's woman pain, Vi's sapphic tragedy, Silco's cruel thesis, or her own neglect and manipulations to weapons wealth and war accelerating around back on her
This is why hate agency as a concept
If Mel dies opening of s2 that adds to the loss and chaos. And she suffers what she unleashed without safeguards to further her already maximum purse.
Just...annoyed
