Headcanon: Charles
This applies to all three versions of him.
Charles will find sooner than later that he’ll need reading glasses. It’s nothing to be terribly concerned about, just part of getting old.
(This entirely because James McAvoy really rocks the look and I want it in these universes😭)

Happy birthday to Charles Francis Lehnsherr (Xavier)
September 27, 1933
My favorite muse, my longest muse, the one whom without which, Wicked Game may not have come to be. He’s been through so much, but he‘s still learning, growing and healing and I love him for that❤️

🌟 mgann and charles
🌟mgann and X
🌟mgann and gwen
Send me 🌟 and I’ll give you a Headcanon about our muses
Charles: early on, I think Charles subconsciously looked at M’gann as a caretaker-like figure; she reminds him of Raven, back before ‘62. She is his safe space🥺 as the years go by and Charles starts to heal, he’ll look back and realize this; he tries not to blame himself for putting so much on her - he was, after all, in a very dark place. However, Charles being Charles feels guilty anyway and spends the rest of his life trying to give back and be a reliable confidant and grandfather
X: M’gann is, without question, X’s best friend. She’s really his only friend outside the family— he actually trusts her more than most extended family members 🤣
Gwen: Gwen looks up to M’gann. She’s the only female telepath Gwen knows, and sometimes she needs to talk to another woman who understands the burden of that power.

🌟 for X, Charles, James and Wyl
X - X will never admit it, but he feels safe around M’gann, even when they’re alone. Not many people make that list.
Charles - as Charles grows more comfortable around M’gann, his feminine side will start to re-emerge. This will mostly occur around all things fashion at first, but it may pop up in the kitchen as well—really any activity that engages his interests; he hasn’t had fun in so long 💔
James - James won’t admit it (at least not right now) but he really admires M’gann. It isn’t easy to stay optimistic in this day and age, let alone in their line of work and with pre-existing baggage.
Wyl - Wyl was absolutely that teenager who went through the ‘no one understands me, I am unique in my struggles’ phase, something they’ll come to regret as they get older. So much would’ve been so much easier if they just talked to their mom like they did as a child, but no, teenagers think they know it all, and so created a temporary rift. They weren’t unfriendlg, but Wyl didn’t open up beyond surface-level/material conversations for a while.

//I hope you all know that from September 1st through New Years, Charles spends most of his free time baking😂😭❤️ how much of course depends on the verse, but if you’re a friend/family, expect many fall and winter goodies for the next foreseeable future~

I found this gif and I’m like... ;w; CHARLES IS SO SOFT. If he and Erik  manage to put each other back together in that one verse he might look like this regularly and my heart hurts.

Headcanon: Charles
For all three versions
Charles does not care for winter. He is a small and slender man and so he gets cold very easily. It is not uncommon to see him wearing many layers during this time of year, and/or a blanket like a cloak.

Charles’ b-day thoughts #4:
Today I’m thinking about the doppelganger!Charles Xavier and how he probably hasn’t kept track of any holiday or special occasion besides Christmas in years. Christmas he’s only aware of because the world transforms with ‘good tidings and cheer’ (which he finds condescending and forced.)
I’m sure it’s M’gann who accidentally digs up his birthday telepathically, or perhaps she and James stumble into it, researching Charles after discovering him. Either way, he’s shocked into silence the first time they show up at his door with homemade treats and small gifts (M’gann probably smiling and James just about as awkward as his dad.) Charles forgot about his birthday...but when it dons on him, he tears up. This continues for a little while at first, but by the end of their visit, he’s talking more openly, comfortably and even smiling a little.
It wouldn’t surprise me if after that, he’s more welcoming whenever M’gann visits, and slowly allows himself to trust her. She reminds him so much of Vivian as a girl: it hurts his heart, but it’s...kind of nice to have even a shadow of that relationship back. He never forgot Vivian’s birthdate, even if he doesn’t keep track of a calendar.
His relationship with James takes more work but they’re so alike, it’s not surprising 😅

Bday Headcannon:: Charles always gets a homemade meal specially made for him and a tin of his favorite cookies from M’gann every year. Sometimes she throws in a well intentioned but poorly crocheted scarf.
//🥺💖AAAH THIS IS SO SWEET. UGH I really love their relationship. Charles is always so touched that she thinks of him on his birthday, even though it takes awhile to wrap his head around. He isn’t used to such personal kindness sgfhh

Headcanon: Charles (doppelgänger)
TRIGGER WARNING
Charles’ forearms are covered in self-inflicted scars. There are also a handful of older ones on his thighs; access became too troublesome over time.
(He uses broken glass as he distrusts almost all things metal)

This applies to all versions of the characters
Charle taught Vivian how to ice skate. When she was a child her powers intimidated her: Charles thought more positive associations with the ice and snow would help her embrace them.

Halloween Headcanons:
Thought it might be fun to share how my muses feel about Halloween!
Prime Universe:
James Xavier - James loves holidays but Halloween is one of his favorites. He fully supports indulging in both the imagination and candy for a night. Mutant children (and new parents) deserve a break from the world. He has a lot of fond memories dressing up and playing “space captain,” although in those days the Manor’s population was much smaller. James helps kickstart the yearly Halloween party and decorations and sorts through suitable material (he’s not a fan of the gruesome side of Halloween for various reasons and you won’t see those kinds of decorations.) If some of the older students want to watch those movies that’s fine with him as long as they’re discreet.
Vivian Lehnsherr (the Ice Queen) - Vivian doesn’t celebrate Halloween. She never did as a child and therefore never developed the habit. The only Holidays on her radar are Christmas and Hanukkah/ traditions related to her father’s heritage.
Charles Xavier – Charles doesn’t like Halloween. It makes him nervous. There’s a lot going on and half if not most of the students dress up. While some of them are still recognizable some are not and without his powers to reaffirm who they are he ends up anxious. That and that gruesome side of Halloween scares the hell out of him; it’s for him that James keeps a tight lid on that. Charles’ only saving grace during Halloween are the occasional treats he’ll put together/bake. In the not so distant future he’ll enjoy watching his young grandchildren partake in the festivities.
Professor X – Professor X doesn’t care for holidays either, especially any that might trigger Charles. While he hasn’t made an appearance in sometimes he will still knock on that door in the back of Charles’ mind…just to let him know he’s there if anyone or anything scares him too badly. This of course only adds to Charles’ anxiety.
David Xavier – As a child David loves Halloween. His parents are very enthusiastic about holidays, to the point they sometimes embarrass him. As the adult Time Lord Victorious Halloween gets lost along with many of David’s human memories. He knows of holidays from an outsider’s perspective but celebrating himself doesn’t register.
Blake Summers – Blake doesn’t much like Holidays. He wants to but he’s always held back from celebrating the way he wants to. Anxiety and fear influence most of his decisions—not like Charles but enough he still keeps a safe distance. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone or burn anything by mistake.
Doppelganger Universe:
James Darkholme – Just like his Prime Universe counterpart James loves holidays and Halloween is no different. That said he’s more embarrassed about voicing his enthusiasm for it, especially around his coworkers. James has a certain image of himself he wants to maintain and tends to get stuck in that mindset. He still sees himself as a kid who has to prove he’s serious and that can get in the way of having fun.
Vivian Lehnsherr – Vivian doesn’t hold much of an opinion about Halloween unless she’s on a mission. It’s harder to identify mutants from humans when everyone’s in costume and it’s really annoying. Like the Ice Queen this version of Vivian never celebrated smaller holidays growing up so she never developed an affinity for them.
Charles Xavier – This version of Charles hates Halloween, possibly more than his Prime Universe counterpart. Too many people out and about in costume, too many awful movies and images everywhere – it causes severe anxiety. If he’s in or nearby a shelter there may be a low-key party with low-key decorations and that’s not so bad…but any violent imagery digs deep into his brain and he’ll usually end up drinking heavily alone/at home. The candy’s not so bad though.
Blake Summers – so this version of Blake doesn’t mind Halloween. He doesn’t celebrate but it’s easier to blend in during covert missions for the Morlocks. He understands Vivian’s frustrations but why not make it work for them?
Will (Wyl) Darkholme – I’m still getting to know Wyl as a character but I think she loves Halloween as a child. Her shapeshifting powers mean her “costumes” are of the best quality. In her teenage years she loses some of that enthusiasm due to her powers (and also being a teenager): what’s the point of dressing up once a year? She can shapeshift any time she wants.
I think seeing alien costumes bother her a little too as she gets older. They were fun and silly as a kid but why don’t people consider aliens really exist??? That’s not very considerate.
Second Chances:
Charles Xavier/Lehnsherr– Halloween still makes this version of Charles nervous. That said he’s found a way to enjoy the holiday for the first time in years. It’s a lot of fun to watch his youngest child get excited about it and how his eldest encourages this enthusiasm. He regrets the childhood she didn’t have; helping her younger sister in turn helps her experience things she hasn’t before. He’ll take lots of pictures that he’ll either frame or put into photo albums.
Charles doesn’t trick-or-treat and he doesn’t answer the door; he’ll leave that to Erik and sometimes X. What he will do is throw himself into baking so by the time his children return their house smells of cinnamon, pumpkin spice and chocolate. Charles adores baking and holiday treats are especially fun.
X – X doesn’t love Halloween for similar reasons Charles’ doesn’t. His apprehensions primarily revolve around Charles actually although the gruesome and violent side make him anxious as well. He also cares less for people than Charles and Erik and after a point is barred from answering the door.
He learns to appreciate Halloween after Gwen is born. She so enjoys it and watching her light up warms his heart. She’s his baby girl and he’ll do anything for her…except trick-or-treat. He leaves that to her siblings.
Vivian Lehnsherr– Like X Vivian learns to appreciate Halloween through her youngest sister. As stated before her guarded childhood didn’t allow for certain holiday celebrations. Gwen doesn’t have such restrictions and Vivian isn’t about to share her disinterest in the holiday. In fact, she often finds herself dressing up along with Gwen, often in matching or complimentary costumes. It brings her little sister such joy, she just can’t take that away.
Plus, Vivian sees herself as a role-model and example for her other sisters: they’ve had such a hard childhood, why not take a break for a night and have fun? (She won’t admit to this but that’s besides the point.)
Guinevere Xavier/Lehnsherr – Guinevere/Gwen loves Halloween. She’s the only member of the Xavier/Lehnsherr family who hasn’t experienced childhood hardship. Like most children she looks forward to dressing up and trick-or-treating every year, especially if big sister Vivian goes with her. After a point she expects Vivian to dress up as well- it’s what they do! They’re sisters after all.
Gwen does sometimes wish her dads would trick-or-treat with them but Papa Charles always has something delicious waiting when they come back so it’s okay.

Headcanon: Charles (doppelganger)
This version of Charles doesn’t remember the abuse he suffered at the Xavier estate. Sometimes flashes of memories return in his sleep but he can’t recall full details.
(This is the abuse inflicted by Erik and Emma. He remembers growing up there.)

Headcanon: Charles (both versions)
Charles has a keen fashion sense. He used to enjoy dressing up (and dressing others up- although he kept that on the down-low.)
In the Second Chances storyline he’s rediscovering that side of himself and having a lot of fun~

Headcanon time!
Triggering content below
Please note headcanon is subject to change if it doesn’t wind up working...but I think it will.
________
In the ‘doppelgänger’ universe Charles helps the fourteen year old Vivian escape the Brotherhood HQ. He knows there are bound to be consequences for what he’s done and he isn’t wrong: when Erik and Emma realize their daughter is gone they quickly (and independently) become frantic and stressed. For Erik this also pulls at old doubts and guilt he’s tried to shut up for the last several years. Emma on the other hand suspects Charles had something to do with it and confirms this after digging through his recent memories.
Emma kind of...snaps after that, unable to come to terms with the loss of her daughter. Emma was a distant mother and at times aloof but she loved Vivian more than she thought capable of. Erik swoops in and with his powers (and the ever-present metal around him) hauls Emma off the badly beaten and bleeding Charles Xavier. Erik makes the conscience decision to take Charles to the infirmary. He checks in on him sometime later and his guilt and second-guessing return upon learning of Charles’ injuries. Ultimately he decides he can’t do this anymore.
Erik stays on the Island long enough to make sure (and watch over??) Charles recovers. He insists he stay in the Infirmiry, sidestepping any questions regarding its importance: the Infirmiry is safe. Charles’ quarters may not be anymore.
During Charles’ recovery Erik wrestles with himself, his position and what it’s cost him. He decides the time has come for Charles to leave this place. He approaches Charles sometime after he’s recovered and gives him some money/direction where to go. Charles is shocked and suspicious but Erik insists...and Charles is still too afraid of of him to protest for long. He’s wanted freedom for a long time...but it’s been seventeen years. He has nowhere to go and no one to go back to.
After this Erik takes a stand against Emma as well: the Brotherhood fractures in two factions when its leaders split.
As for Charles, he spends the next seven years on a detrimental downward spiral, bouncing from place to place. Most individuals don’t recognize him but the few who do cause enough of a fuss to keep him on the run. He does make short-lives friendships here and there which is how he occasionally acquires a place to sleep: the money Erik gave him helped but it didn’t last.
Charles is angrier than he remembers and angry that he is: he’s lived in an isolated, structured and monitored environment for so long he can’t remember how to live freely or openly. On top of that he relies primarily on a wheelchair now and his powers don’t work (something he discovered only after trying to use them again.) This coupled with PTSD eventually lead to a drinking problem. Charles wonders sometimes what Erik expected him to do: take up board somewhere, get a neat little job and make a nice life for himself? He doesn’t know how to interact with normal people and he doesn’t trust anyone.
Charles finally ends up in a dingy ground level apartment in a deteriorating neighborhood on the outskirts of nowhere. He’s stripped his new home of everything metal - a practice he’s occasionally done since leaving, but one that escalated in his decline. He relies heavily on alcohol now, especially to sleep. He is gaunt and shaggy and alternates between high strung paranoia or exhausting depression. Thoughts of suicide return but he never acts on them; he still isn’t brave enough to take control of his own life.
Charles dies in an unfortunate accident before alcohol poisoning gets him: he has a bad fall on his way to the bathroom (he’ll usually walk the short distance in his apartment rather than his chair.) Already unsteady and now drunk he missteps and topples over, banging his head on the corner of his dinged up coffee table. He doesn’t get up again...but whether he doesn’t wake up or chooses to bleed out on the floor hasn’t been determined...
Charles’ body was discovered a month later. He was badly decomposed and for almost two years considered a John Doe. Recently however authorities have acquired new insight into his identity...
