Charlevoix South Pier Light Station
I found myself in this northwest Michigan town a couple of days ago; I got down to the water just prior to sunset.
There was an earlier iteration of this lighthouse, similar in design, made of timber. It was built in 1885 and sat on the north side of Pine River Channel. The steel structure one sees here was built in 1948 and sits on the south side of the channel.
The history of this diminutive light station can be found on a plaque mounted at the base of the structure with more details available here. The cement plant visible in the background of the final image was once called Medusa, and is currently known as St. Marys.
