Are concepts we've discussed in discord servers/made posts about, or prompts we've saved but never actually started outlining and writing out acceptable? Like, things from the kink meme that got saved to fic my idea list and then forgotten?

Absolutely! As long as you've not written anything of the actual prose of the fic before the 16th of June you're more than welcome to use that idea you've been rotating. The only thing to watch out for is whether your idea is so unique that an artist from the same server where you've been discussing it might recognise the idea as yours! Our advice? Deny everything until after claiming if it comes up 😉

One of my favourite aspects in the season 2 of Heartstopper is how unapologetically intolerant everyone is towards homophobia. Like.

Harry showing up at Tara's birthday party and Charlie shutting the door in his face despite that apology.

Nick freely calling out his brother's biphobic behavior. Tori literally sinking her nails in David's arm when he was mocking Charlie and Nick and planning to out them.

It's so refreshing. There's no moment where someone asks Charlie or Nick to be the "bigger people" and forgive anyone who undermined, mocked, dismissed, and harassed them for their identity.

Because that shit shouldn't be tolerated ever and it's not acceptable. Queer people aren't here to be your redemption arc.

Hey! Not sure if this is a silly question, but: I know the FAQ says you must write a new work, but does it have to be an original concept or can it be based in the same universe as something else you’ve written?

E.g. I’ve got a story about Ed and Stede finding and repairing Android Izzy, can I do a prequel? And could I include elements of the short story but more expanded?

I’m @thecreakingship on here if you want to reply privately, asking on anon since it’s a side blog to my Real Life one lol.

Not a silly question, and a good one to clarify!

The primary requirement is that it be a story that can be read stand-alone. It can't be a direct sequel or prequel to another fic that you have to read in order to understand the plot, but you can include your existing OCs, have it set in the same universe, or make it the primary fic of a setting that you want to expand later but doesn't have a direct sequel.

For example, while The Hobbit is technically a prequel to LOTR, or LOTR is a sequel to the Hobbit, you can read each on their own without having read the other and still experience the story. However, you can't have The Fellowship of the Ring without Two Towers and Return of the King, so submitting one of those three as part of the bang would not be allowed - you'd have to submit the whole thing as a single story.
