It always surprises me when people say it's unbelievable when Nick walks away from the rugby match to go to Charlie.

Aside from the fact that is was a casual school event and not a real match against another team, in the day(s) prior to this moment:

Charlie told Nick he couldn't have lunch with him (forever crying over that hallway scene, btw)

ignored Nick's DM asking Charlie to talk to him and tell him what's going on 💔

and walked out of auditorium when he saw Nick while they were getting their bibs for sports day

In my mind, Nick had no idea if Charlie would even hear him out until Charlie let Nick take his hand, then rubbed his thumb against Nick's palm. Our boy wasn't going to let Charlie go without a fight and took the only chance he thought he had to say what he needed to say.
