Something to be said about companies wanting to make merch clothes that are "more available" to their fans by which they mean "they just look like regular fucking clothes but if you squint really hard and do your best to reach you can see a hint of a fandom reference in there so no one knows you like a thing and you can pretend to be normal and hobbyless" and I for one think they should go back to slapping a screenshot of a video game right in the middle of a t-shirt

More Charlie the Unicorn stuff!  Something something if you want merch you have to do it yourself something something.  They came out a little darker than intended, I probably could’ve put another layer of highlight on them, but overall I think they look fine ^_^
I almost didn’t do the faces because I was terrified of messing up such small details, but it ended up working out fine!  The eyes, surprisingly, turned out to not be so difficult, but getting Pink and Blue’s smiles right was a pain.  Luckily I still had some extra highlight paint to touch them up.
I got the base miniature from Shapeways, from this listing here.  I used an x-acto knife to cut the fur tufts from the legs. I debated sanding the manes down since they don’t have those, but I just decided... meh.  I may try to make Charlie the CEO and Starfish/Startaur in the future, but as you can see from the listing they are pricey miniatures, so we’ll see XD
Also I realized while typing this that I should have given Charlie the faintest little scar on his abdomen, for reasons :)
Also kind of want to do a dice tower of Candy Mountain, but I need to finish my current WIP dice tower first.

RWBY is a popular and acclaimed web series that is entering its ninth season, with an expanding library of spin-offs and crossovers.
If this is in reply to my post saying "despite reports of RW//BY's popularity, I haven't seen that reflected anywhere outside of in the messages of anons insisting that it's true," and then me saying that it's much less popular and contains a smaller fanbase than mainstream media like Sherlock (in its day,) the MCU, and Star Wars... Like, I don't know, buddy. Idk what to even say to that.
I've talked to all of two people outside of my family that even knew what RW//BY is. The only time I've ever seen someone other than my sister and I wearing RWBY merch was seeing one of those two people sporting a hat. It's rare as hell to find RW//BY merch in any store in-person. Looking up RW//BY on the Hot Topic website only gave me several distinctly non-RW//BY-ish wigs and one fourteen dollar tee shirt. There are 32737 works for RW//BY on AO3 and 466446 works for the MCU, 197655 for Star Wars, and 123804 for Sherlock. Saying that RW//BY isn't mainstream and isn't as popular as people like to pretend is just... True.
It's not an insult, either. For a web-cartoon made by people who mostly all seemed to be amateurs at the time of creation, RW//BY's done very well for itself in terms of longevity and in acquiring a fandom. Of course, I don't know any of the specifics as I'm not in any sort of marketing or business and I have no experience with a product, but their recent behavior of launching all these RW//BY specific projects could either be very good news for their company (having the money, resources, etc on hand,) or it could be an indicator of bad news (throwing more and more resources into their most popular product to see if it'll be their saving grace,) and I couldn't tell you which one it is. But what I can say that RW//BY is probably the most popular thing that R//T has made. Still, that doesn't make it popular comparatively. If you say it's popular compared to the Charlie the Unicorn finale, then you're probably right. Popular compared to Steven Universe? Mmm, no I don't think so. If you say it's popular compared to The World Ends With You, a Square Enix title that wasn't very well marketed and only has a small following, then you're probably right. Is it popular compared to Final Fantasy VII? No it isn't. Let's be realistic here. It's not a bad thing to say that it isn't super popular compared to anything mainstream and doesn't have as much of a following, that's... Just how things work.

The fact that Charlie the Unicorn had a better ending after 15 years than Spn is… really something. Everyone say thank you Jason Steele.

for me, one of the most frustrating catchphrases the internet took from a genuine point and regurgitated into Nothingness is “I don’t owe anybody anything.” like. that’s just not true. you owe an apology to people you’ve hurt.
you owe it to your community to not be inconsiderate of your shared environment. you owe the tiniest bit of compassion to other people. you owe your middle school friend $3.59 for the food court pretzel she got for you at the mall when you spent all your money on charlie the unicorn merch at hot topic.
there are a lot of things you DON’T owe anyone--love, sex, deference--but i see this phrase get twisted into a way to excuse yourself from being a decent human being, and that makes me very, very irritated.

If I saw “Charlie the Unicorn” merch I would unironically buy it. I’m not proud of that fact but it is what it is.

Charlotte: @charlottekath | Twitter
Send us art | Send us an ask | Send us an email
In this episode we are all sleep deprived in our den talking about collaborating, Dan & Phil, and as usual many things off topic.
Show Notes under the cut
Questions from listeners
We answered some questions in our minisode, click here to listen to that one first
“Hey guys! I love that phancast! I love to re-listen to your videos while I’m at work to get through the day. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas or thoughts on what DnP will do in the future (youtube related). After watching dans live show about how he isn’t really concerned with videos and how he views himself as a creator and not a “youtuber” and what this means for them. I feel phil will go back to his usual but I am unsure what is going on haha there isn’t much “content” besides gaming”
As we answered something similar in the minisode, we talk about projects we’d like to see from D&P including a podcast, some other projects, and a tell-all book
“I can’t remember who said it but I bet you are so happy that II is on dvd!! I am excited for it to be a physical copy too!”
Jane was very happy about a DVD and has ordered too many copies.
Quick logistics question from us to you: If we uploaded these podcasts to YouTube, would that be something you’d be interested in? Is that a better way for you to listen or do the current hosting platforms work?
Previously on Dan and Phil
Things we talked about:
Dan’s merch for Young Minds
The Mukbang
The Driving Video
Spooky Week
We also got off-topic and discuss:

Kaleidotrope - The best queer rom com podcast ever!
and much much more
Monthly Topic: Collabs
Things we talked about:
Why we don’t think Dan and Phil appearing together is considered a ‘collab’ anymore
What makes a good collab? What are our favourites?
What are some collabs that don’t work in our opinion?
What makes a good spon/bad spon and our favourites?
What collabs would we like to see?

The Foxes Calender
I’ve been working on this for over an hour ....
After there big win PSU start selling loads more merch (I have a fair few HCs about that) including calendars.
Featuring the OG foxes, each fox has their number matching to the month, all of them wearing their Foxes uniform.
Dan #1 - January
She’s there looking fierce as fuck (like always) with confetti and balloons falling all around her, funny new years eve glasses on with an exy stick in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other.
Kevin #2 - February
Slightly grumpy looking wearing cupid wings over his jersey with a plastic bow and heart arrows instead of his exy stick with doves flying around his head.
Andrew #3 - March
Tiny lil Andrew kicking over a pot of gold, green leprechaun like hat resting sideways on his head as he holds up his middle finger looking bored with a rainbow behind him for St Patricks day.
Matt #4 - April
Matt in bunny ears with whiskers painted on his face, Ext racquet filled with chocolate Easter eggs.
(After the photoshoot those chocolate eggs go missing so does Andrew)
Aaron #5 - May
Aaron is holding light sabers instead of exy racquets and he has a stormtrooper mask pushed up on his head cause of the whole May the 4th thing
(IDK there is literally nothing important about May and I’m super sorry to Aaron cause he deserves better)
Seth #6 - June
Just a big collage of photos of Seth, candid photos from games as well as photos the others took.
Allison #7 - July
Just Allison sat chillin in a deck chair in the middle of the court, jersey tied up slightly kinda like a crop top, exy stick being used as an umbrella stand, 4th July style sunglasses and a cocktail in her hand.
Nicky #8 - August
He’s there with no tshirt, just in his shorts, armbands on his arms, unicorn rubber ring around his hips and he’s got snorkels pushed up on his forehead and flippers on his feet and the photo is taken in the middle of a big star jump.
Renee #9 - September
Renee is standing sweetly with a witch's hat on her head and a knitted Hufflepuff scarf around her neck. She’s holding a wand and pointing it at an Exy ball which looks like it’s levitating.
Neil #10 - October
He‘s stood there surrounded by pumpkins and spilled candy, about to hit a smaller pumpkin with his racquet. His uniform torn up and covered in dirt and fake blood and he’s got zombie makeup.
November
All the foxes recreate their candid team photo except they’re all wearing turkey hats. Andrew is shovelling pie into his face and Renee is munching on a turkey leg the size of her face.
December
Wymack is in the middle sat and dressed as Santa.
The twins are off to the side dressed as elves both flipping off the camera.
Nicky is stood leaning against Aaron looking spot on in a stripy red and white suit and bowtie.
Kevin’s sat on Wymacks lap dressed like a cliché 6 yr old in shorts and a knitted Christmas sweater.
The three girls are recreating the Charlie's angels pose while dressed in festive onesies.
Matt and Neil are off to the side dressed as a Christmas pudding (Matt) and a reindeer (Neil) battling each other with giant candy canes.

Week ThreeThoughts/Questions:
*Note that you do not have to actually answer these like you’re in school, it’s more to get the dialogue started and to give you ideas of what to post about if you’re drawing a blank.
Please write a five paragraph essay about why Neville belongs in Gryffindor using examples from this section and why he’s so perfect (Note: Do not really write a five paragraph essay, I am being facetious, but please talk about why Neville as well as the golden trio are Gryffindors and how it really shines at the end of the first book)
Charlie Weasley taking the dragon? And bringing his friends? The older I get, the move this part just tickles me.
House points; we’ll potentially look at this in later books, but it seems like in the first book, the teachers aware 1-5 points for good behavior, 10 for really good behavior. In later books, it seems to be more 5-10 on average and more for extraordinary. Do you think First Years just get and lose less points to ease them into the system?
Detentions at Hogwarts - Do you think it depends on the teacher or does Dumbledore also get a say? What warrants  writing lines compared to searching for hurt unicorns in the forbidden forest?
Harry and exams: How did he ever pass them? It seems like almost every exam season, his scar is hurting and Voldemort is threatening the school again.
Does Hogwarts have any forms that parents need to sign about how there is a chance of death? Or do they figure they can fix any magical injuries? Cause there have been a lot of dangerous situations in this book, and that’s not including Harry breaking the rules...
How do we get to see each of the golden trio’s talents shine when getting the sorcerer’s stone?
Do you remember how you felt the first time you read the book and it was revealed to be Quirrell?
Baby Harry James Potter is precious, discuss.
We get some of the best Dumbledore quotes in this book, but for those who have read the whole series, we also know what happened between Harry and Voldemort and know that Dumbledore is not being totally truthful. Do you think Dumbledore did the right thing? Do you think, with hindsight, it’s easy to say he should have told Harry everything while ignoring what was happening at that time?
Looking back over the whole book, how do you feel? What memories did you relive, what did you notice this time that you may not have noticed in the past? Has being a part of the Harry Potter fandom and reading fan theories and headcanons affected your views of the books? What theories enhanced your reading? What were detrimental?
Share some of your favorite quotes from these chapters.
Share your pretty book pictures and relevant Harry Potter and/or House merch

CoolinAustin’s SX Shortlist: Free Party Highlights for Friday, March 9
It’s go time, buds! Here are our picks of the best free parties to kick off your SX experience today. It’s not too late to RSVP for a lot of this week’s free events, so make sure to check out our full list of the best RSVPs on the SXSW tab at the top of this page. Hit us up on Twitter for even more updates from the field, and check back for party highlights each day of the fest. Have fun out there!
Shoutout to the cool folks at Festival Saviors, Keegan’s List, ATX Concert, @SXSWMF, and Fest Xperts — check them out for some more hot party tips. Also, Showlist Austin is an amazing resource for set times at unofficial showcases throughout the fest.
Mashable House Noon–5pm • The Main, 610 East 6th Street • RSVP required Free food early in the day, sometimes free drinks, swag, mingling, product demos, and various other activities. This is an official event so badges will get priority, but you can usually get in without one if you get there early enough.
The Deep End by Vox Media 11am–8pm • The Belmont, 305 West 6th St. • RSVP required Free food and drinks, cool panels, podcast tapings, arcade games, and more. Sounds like a great time and should be a pretty hot commodity.
The Fast Company Grill at SXSW Interactive 11am–4pm • Cedar Door, 201 Brazos St. • RSVP required Free drinks, tech demos, panels. If you’re patient you can probably also get some free food. One of our faves!
Bumble Presents: SXSW Empowering Connections 11am–4pm • Fair Market, 1100 East 5th St. • No RSVP required, but must have the Bumble app downloaded on your phone “Two days of interactive fun, speakers, musical performances, and powerful keynotes.” Continues again tomorrow. There are also night events, but those are open to SX badgeholders only.
Fox Sports House 11am–8pm • Hangar Lounge, 318 Colorado St. • RSVP required; may be badge-only at times This is an official SXSW Sports lounge, but they’re taking RSVPs so there’s a chance that parts of it could be open to the public. Sounds like there should be lots of food and drinks to go around, plus some sports panels and special parties throughout the weekend.
Vimeo: The Decade 2–6pm • Native Hostel, 807 East 4th Street • RSVP required “Come celebrate the internet’s best videos of the decade. With special guests, live performances, and a cinema like you’ve never seen before!” Seems like this one will be a big hangout for Film badgeholders but could be doable without one early in the day.
YouEarnedIt @ SXSW 4–8pm • YouEarnedIt, 206 East 9th Street, Suite 1502 • RSVP requested Free food, open bar.
Panoply #DataParty 4–6pm • Ginger Man, 301 Lavaca St. • RSVP requested; now waitlist only Free drinks and food at this networking event for data and marketing pros.

Austin Startup Crawl: Totally Rad Tech w/ Sputnik ATX 5–10pm • Sputnik ATX, 301 Congress Ave. • RSVP requested; now sold out Free drinks and food by Peached Tortilla, plus music, games, and “startup poetry.” This is part of the Startup Crawl, which mostly does not require RSVPs, so it’s unclear whether it’s necessary to have one for this.
Uproxx House 6–11pm • 101 West 5th St. • RSVP required “Daily talks and evening celebrations with the most innovative minds in music, film, and tech.” Afternoon interviews followed by evening parties with cocktails, small bites, music, and more discussions.
