Hiya anon! So I decided to do these as HC’s since I had a better idea for HC’s then an actual oneshot, but I hope you still enjoy them!

Yami:

• Yami did *not* like changing his child's diapers, he loved his child dearly of course, and loved playing and taking care of them just…not their diapers.

• So he argued with Charlotte tooth and nail about it, even going as far as to offer to play poker with her and if he lost then he would do it!

• But Charlotte wasn’t having it.

• She told him that it would be a good bonding experience for the two, which Yami argued there were a lot better, and cleaner, ways for him to bond with his child!

• But luckily for Charlotte she was called away on a mission as they were arguing so she promptly left Yami to deal with their newborn child.

• Yami would try desperately to get anyone else to change the baby’s diaper. But everyone said no which meant Yami was stuck doing it!

• He eventually sucked it up and changed the diaper, while continuously chanting under his breath “surpass your limits Yami! Surpass. Your. Limits!”.

• Eventually when everything was said and done Yami realized it wasn’t so bad, and that he was actually being a bit dramatic about it all!

Charlotte Roselei, I understand that you're a fictional character and so babbling like this at you may be a sign that the bats are in my belfry, but you remind me so much of myself back when I was younger and so hard on myself and hotter than I knew and also doing that whole tsundere thing while being in love with a big, strong guy who was denser than fucking platinum and I need you to not make the same mistakes I did. Please, fucking jump on Captain Yami at the next available opportunity, and I do mean that literally. Fictional lady, if you do not do this, one night as you are lying awake replaying all the awkward or silly things you've ever done in your head to torture yourself, you will suddenly realize that if you had just said something, it could have been you underneath him, gripping his god-like arms while he praises you through gritted teeth, trying to restrain himself so he can be gentle with you, telling you that you're so good for taking him so well (or whatever other talk does it for you).

What I'm saying is that the regrets will be terrible. So, Ms. Captain, just do him it. We're rooting for you.

YamiChar Headcanons

💙-- Hurt/Comfort

Yami generally feels like he needs to be the strongest in order to protect, provide for, and lead his squad, and this mentality has made it difficult for him to open up to others and show vulnerabilities. As he and Charlotte grow closer, however, she becomes one of the only people he can really put his armor down around, and (though it is a slow process for him) he really does start to share with her things that are difficult for him to tell anyone else: how much he cares and worries about his loved ones (his squad family in particular), how he worries about letting them down, and how he blames himself when he is unable to protect the people he cares about most. Charlotte who has similar feelings (especially in regards to her own squad) is always an empathetic listener and does her best to encourage him that he doesn't have to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders alone. Together they learn that being vulnerable is not the same as being weak and that they can be just as strong if they learn to put their armor down every once in a while and allow themselves to be human.

💘-- Romance

Yami much prefers to show his love with his actions (mainly acts of service) rather than talking about his feelings, and Charlotte generally understands since she gets a little shy and tongue-tied when it comes to verbal expressions of affection herself. However, both the Black Bulls and the Blue Roses make this into a "big deal" and try to get their respective captains to confess their love "properly" to each other. This becomes an even bigger problem when the Black Bulls figure out that Yami plans to propose and insist he can't propose without a speech.

Yami is eventually convinced that Charlotte really hasn't and/or won't understand how much he cares about her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her without him expressing his love in words, so he ends up stumbling his way through writing his feelings down in a speech (with his squad's well-meaning help of course). For Yami's credit, even though he thinks it’s stupid he carries it around with him and actually practices it for at least a week beforehand because he wants things to be special for Charlotte.

When time for the proposal actually arrives, however, he uncomfortably begins the speech but stops abruptly saying, “This is stupid.” He then improvises a very curt, very Yami but actually heartfelt (for Yami anyway) expression of why he wants to marry her. It ends with “I…you know…” To which Charlotte laughs and replies “I…you know…too” and accepts his proposal! 💕

💗-- Family

Though they keep very busy in the future, it is very important to Yami and Charlotte that they always carve out time to spend together with their children as a family. Sometimes this involves just spending an quiet evening at their house with Yami teaching the kids how to play cards or everyone having a dinner comprised of everyone's favourite foods, but more often than not, this involves outings and fun family activities, especially more outdoorsy ones like camping, hiking, or sparring/training together.

They would be great parents! Yami would be stern but a big softie, especially if he had girls, and would definitely teach his kids how to surpass their limits. He would also teach them about Hino and their customs, the ones he could remember! Charlotte would be a great mom, she would be loving, caring, and supportive, and I can imagine her spoiling her son to death 😆! She would teach her daughters how to be strong and capable so they don’t have to rely on any man.

💙-- Hurt/Comfort

A hurt/comfort HC I have is that after the battle with Spade that Charlotte has nightmares about what happened and how Yami nearly died. Of course she’d try to hide it from Yami, but he notices instantly. So one night when she has a nightmare Yami pulls her into his arms and holds her against his chest, he whispers softly into her ear that everything is fine and safe and that he doesn’t plan on dying anytime soon.

A fluffy headcanon I have is that Yami gets the best sleep of his life only when Charlotte is beside him or is in the room. He just feels…safe and comforted when she’s near, he isn’t sure why though. Maybe its because she has such a calm and tranquil aura m, or maybe its the way she holds him in her arms when he’s asleep, or how she runs her fingers through his hair. But either way he can’t sleep without her 😆!

Sorry, stumbling on this yamichar dynamic has made my brain short out to the point where I can't finish the two smutty x-Readers that I finally started working on after not being able to write for months (don't worry all you Aizawa scarf bondage lovers, we've got an "Aizawa ties Reader up in a chair" upcoming because I. am. predictable. and, finally, thank God, after all this time, I've got an Alucard x Reader fit for the winter underway) so, while I wish I could write this Yami x Charlotte up properly, I just have to get the initial thoughts out of my system, I think.
