summary: told in flashbacks and the present the gridiron follows chanel dawson and joseph anoa'i's relationship from college football to the NFL and all that is in between.

◤chapter two: silly rabbit◥

Her nails always matched her current mood; black, with gold detailing across her almond shaped nails was her current fixation. Power. Dominance. Control. Luxury. When she had gone to see her nail technician there was very little talk about the news that broke this morning. She saw the faces, heard the murmurs, but knew they wouldn’t step out of place and address her directly. They could whisper all they wanted. She was there to relax before meeting up with the girl who thought she could ruin an eleven year relationship.

Chanel’s lawyer had already begun the paperwork necessary. Chanel was just going to meet with the girl as a formality, lay down what was going to happen and what the girl needed to expect to happen.

Tapping her nails on the wheel of her car, Chanel sat in the parking lot of Chateau Rosé. It was an upscale restaurant that Chanel enjoyed because of the quality of the food and service. She also knew the girl would show for two reasons. One, she used Joseph’s phone to make the ‘date’. Two, it was an upscale restaurant and she knew the girl would assume he was paying for her food in an attempt to persuade her against whatever plan she had.

That was not the case.

She wanted to already be seated when the girl arrived but opted for the reverse. She wanted to see the look on the golddigger’s face when she slid into their private booth. Such a sight was already making her tingle in anticipation.

“Yes, Mrs. Anoa’i, your table is ready and your guests have already arrived.”

“Wonderful. Have the wine menu sent to my table please.”

“Of course, Mrs. Anoa’i.”

The hostess greeted her warmly when she first entered. As she walked among the other patrons they flirted their eyes over her fitted jeans and white shirt. The black blazer and matching stilettos gave an air of indifference and simplicity. The ten carat emerald cut yellow diamond on her finger flashed as her hand moved up to tuck her black curls from her face.

As they approached the table, Chanel was surprised to see an elderly woman waiting as well. Nevertheless, she wasn’t going to let any of that deter her. Nor was she going to let this girl think she had control because of it.

“Good morning ladies,’ she said brightly as she slid into the booth across from them.

She watched their faces fall as they quickly glanced at each other. The file she had on the table suddenly slid away, but Chanel’s hand stopped it.

“I assume this is for my husband?”

Destiny Crawford. Dark hair, bright blue eyes, and tan was the type of woman that thought the world owed her and she should be given what she wanted when she wanted it. Chanel was about to snatch her back down to reality.

“Um, ye-yes it is. Where is he?”

She had the nerve to look around the restaurant.

“He won’t be joining us. As a matter of fact, your contact with him ends today Ms. Crawford.”

Snooty, the girl’s mother spoke up. “She is pregnant with his child. He should be here.”

“It’s funny you mention that. How far along are you exactly?”

The who and what didn’t really matter to Chanel. She didn’t care about that. Her job right now was to poke holes in this story for the sake of their finances. To a lot of people Chanel came off as money hungry and a gold digger. She let them believe that. It was energy wasted trying to convince them otherwise. If anything, Chanel’s position in finance made her think about money and its meaning more than its value to be spent.

Pulling the file in her direction she opened it to see photos of text messages, emails, and a doctor's report stating she was about three weeks pregnant. Hm. That didn’t quite line up with the timeline Joseph had explained to her. One of them was lying.

“It’s all right there.”

Thirsty, Destiny suddenly took a long sip of her drink. Chanel glanced at the glass. It seemed to be orange juice, but the pensive look on her mother’s face made her think it was something a little extra. She’d ask for a copy of the receipt later.

“I’m glad you brought these. I’m waiting on Instagram and Twitter to send me copies of his as well. Just for further comparison.” She paused while flipping through the pages. “I can check his emails later tonight.”

Destiny scowled as she set her glass down. “You don’t need to do that. It’s all right there in black and white for you to see! I’m pregnant with his baby.”

“Be that as it may, I don’t care who the father is, honestly. This isn’t some meal ticket to a six figure pay-out each month. If this is his child there are some stipulations to how child support will work. I’m here to inform you of those before my lawyer reaches out to you. I suggest you get one.”

Destiny’s mother sucked her teeth. “He has to help take care of the baby. Physically and financially.”

Chanel smiled as the waitress arrived. Their orders were taken upon Chanel’s insistence and as the waitress left so did Chanel’s patience.

“Here’s the deal and you have no choice but to take it; Joseph will have joint custody and visitation whenever his schedule permits it. He can and will take the child on vacation with us out of the country if we decide to do so. You will get no more than two thousand dollars a month in child support. Insurance will be covered by us as well as medical expenses. After having two of his children and running the finances, that is more than enough, especially for a newborn that can’t do anything but shit and eat.”

Chanel knew she was being harsh. However, this girl had friends who would throw her a lavish baby shower and the first few month’s supply of diapers, clothes, and baby necessities would be given as gifts. Plus, as grandmother, Chanel knew she would be spending money as well.

Destiny looked at her mother with a hard gaze. There was an unspoken conversation before she spoke up again.

“You can’t determine that. The courts can. We will file for more money than that. His support payment will reflect his income.”

“I control the finances of the home. The multiple investments, credit cards, bank accounts...all that runs through me. If that child is his, and you better hope so because the lawsuits coming your way will have you in debt in the grave, we will provide for the child because of joint custody. Not you. You are not my child. You are not his child. You’re going to work or you can sit at home and figure out how to live off those two stacks.”

“I don’t know who raised you this way, but I’m sure those black babies aren’t even his! You hooked him in with a damn lie yourself just to get his money!.”

Destiny’s face paled at her mother’s harsh words.

“If anyone is the whore at this table it’s you!”

It was one thing to speak about herself or Joseph. It was a deep can of shit one opened when they spoke to Chanel's children.

“Excuse me?”

“She didn’t-’ Destiny stuttered. “Mom!”

“Oh she meant it. Let me tell you something, I’m the whore that will be taking care of your grandchild when he’s on the road. Joseph is a damn good father, but he is shit at child rearing. I will be the point of contact whether you want me to be or not. I am also the woman that if I tell him to forget this child exists he will, even if it is his. He will sign over his parental rights just to make me happy and in the end you won’t get a damn thing from him.”

She would never ask him to do that, but putting that fear in Destiny and her mother made her inwardly grin. She drummed her black nails on the table. Power.

“If you ever talk about our children like that again, Mrs. Crawford I will make sure your daughter is sucking dick on a street corner. I will also come at you with a lawsuit for even attempting to coerce her into entrapment with my husband.”

“I just want him to provide for the baby. We had sex, you can use all of this in the divorce case, right?”

It was like bells had rung from the sistine chapel.

“I’m not divorcing my husband over some silly little girl and the garbanzo bean in her stomach. I don’t plan on divorcing him any time soon.” She paused. “I hope you didn't. I'd leave him and he’d come running to you?”

Destiny looked down.

“Oh he fucked with a dumb ass for real,” Chanel sighed. “You know, I don’t think I’m mad he did what he did. I’m mad he insulted my intelligence by fucking you.”

Food came swiftly and so did the tab. It was clear they had plans to make Joseph pay for it because when they realized it was separate checks, and theirs was lengthy, Destiny slumped in her seat. Chanel grabbed it for a moment, snapped a picture, and passed it back.

“You invited us to lunch, you should at least pay!” The mother snapped. Her anger clearly still bubbling under her horribly tanned skin.

“I would have. Had I not seen that she ordered an alcoholic beverage and she’s three weeks pregnant. Clear your schedule tomorrow. You’re going to see my OBGYN for a pregnancy test.”

Using cash, Chanel paid her bill and slipped her shades back on. “It was nice meeting you ladies. Meet me tomorrow at nine. I will send you the address.”

Chanel was home a few hours later with bags from Sephora, Carters, Addias, and other familiar stores strewn across the bed. When Joseph came in from the gym he peeked into a few of them; slightly grinning at some of the lace and frilly bras and panties. He took a shower before he sought her out. Going down the hall he realized the kids were out. When he found his wife she was sitting in her office by her desk. He knocked twice but she didn’t look up from what she was working on.

“Are you going to ignore me?” He said after standing there for another three minutes. Folding his arms over his chest, he waited for her to respond. “Chanel.”

“I have a feeling she isn’t pregnant. I’m taking her to my doctor tomorrow. Who says they are three weeks pregnant and then drinks alcohol?”

“How do you know?”

“I met with her and her mother today. They were expecting you because I used your phone to set up the meeting.”

Closing the file she had been working on, Chanel stood up and started to put away the various folders on her desk. Each color coded with a purpose. She had a black one specifically for Destiny. He reached up and scratched the back of his head.

“You think that was a good idea?”

Brown eyes startled him as they snapped up to stare holes in his face. “Good ideas are not something you need to talk to me about.”

“Where are the kids?” He didn’t want to argue about this tonight so he conceded.

Chanel grabbed both phones before she passed Joseph and headed towards their bedroom. “My sister was in town. She wanted to spend a few days with them before she left for New England Sunday. She picked them up from school. I thought it was best if they weren’t in town right now.”

“Wait, where did she take them?”

Chanel pulled up the text on her phone after selecting the text thread she had with Audre. “She took them to the beach.”

“So it’s just us for the next four days?” He stepped up close behind his wife.

“Yep.”

He couldn’t remember the last time they had uninterrupted alone time. After Kelani was born they always took family trips. It was hard getting alone time when the kids were constantly in and out of their room.

Stopping by the bed she placed the bags for the kids on the floor while dumping the black and white Sephora bag. Most of that was replacement for lipsticks, foundations, and other items she was running low on. It was still a hefty price tag because Pat Mcgrath had some new items she grabbed at the last minute.

He was careful when he reached to wrap his arms around his wife’s waist. He wasn’t sure what she was feeling and that was always the hardest to handle. He didn’t know exactly how angry she was. He was about to bend down to rest his head on her shoulder when she peeled his arms away. Her hand flattened against his chest to push him away. He could see the pain she tried to hide in her eyes and a piece of his heart broke. Again.

He fucked up.

“Baby,’

“Sleep in the guest room. I ordered from Waiter because I didn’t want to cook. It should be here in about thirty minutes.”

“We made a promise not to go to bed angry.”

Raking her hands through her hair, Chanel then rubbed her arms.

“I’m not angry. I’m disappointed.”

Bunty is sitting in her locked car with the windows wound up when Vinnie arrives. She gives an involuntary shudder as he exits his truck, his lurching tattooed bulk almost blocking out the sun. She steels herself as he approaches the car and motions to her to wind down the window. She lowers it a quarter of an inch.

“You’re gonna have to get out, Mrs. Goddard,” he says. “I can’t fix the car with you sitting there.”

Bunty would have glared at him if she wasn’t so afraid of making eye contact. She unlocks her door and climbs out, her face pale, her chin arrogantly tilted. Vinnie grins at her.

“You can wait in the truck if you like,” he says. Bunty’s face grows even paler: the idea of sharing Vinnie’s personal space, touching things that his huge gorilla-like hands have touched, fills her with revulsion! She marches off to wait by the side of the road, pretending to scroll through her phone while he tinkers with her car engine. She is too tense to be able to concentrate on anything on the screen; she wouldn’t put it past Vinnie to sneak up behind her and kill her with a single blow to the back of her head with his wrench or whatever it is! How she wishes that Georgina had tried harder to mend her marriage to Patrick- Patrick was far from the perfect husband, of course, he was married to his business first and to Georgina second but surely they could have made it work, his family owned a chateau and a vineyard in France for goodness sake! Georgina is nothing but a damned fool for giving all that up! What can Vinnie offer her? Nothing but a life of debt, debauchery and despair! Bunty wouldn’t be surprised if he was a fugitive from the law! He certainly looks the part, with his scars and tattoos and his menacing, thug-like aura-

Bunty’s internal diatribe against Vinnie is interrupted by the jaunty beeping of a car horn; she glances up and sees a pewter-coloured Bentley glide to a stop on the opposite side of the road. Anybody who is anybody in the district knows who owns that Bentley: Melinda Bradstreet-Fyfe! Melinda is the wife of the wealthiest grazier in Appaloosa Plains, Hector Bradstreet- Ffye, who also happens to be the President of the Country Club, the Golf Club, and the Polo Club. Melinda jumps out of the car ( she’s wearing the most darling lemon- coloured Chanel suit that causes Bunty’s heart to constrict with envy) and lifts her arm in a frantic wave- she probably caught sight of Vinnie’s hulking, brutish form and wants to make sure that Bunty is not in the throes of being mugged, abducted or worse. Bunty raises her hand to wave to her in return and Melinda darts across the road but she is running not towards Bunty but towards Vinnie? And now she is air-kissing and hugging….Vinnie??? Bunty’s hands fly to cover her mouth as her mind tries to process what her eyes are witnessing. She feels faint, trapped in some terrible alternative reality! WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING??

Did she kill her? It’s a mystery!

Trivia

She has inhereted her great-grandfather Lyubomir’s ( @magicallymalted ) curse and it ends up damaging her badly. Until before, it had been dormant on her father and grandfather

She uses her veela power to lure the best purebloods into her bed to gain more power, which will end up backfiring against her

She smokes and drinks ever since she’s 13, and makes her parents feel impotent

She soon consorts with the remaining close-minded purebloods just to spite Yvonne

She and Yvonne have a physical fight on sixth year when Lucille openly tells Yvonne’s secret... in The Daily Prophet, alleging that she tried to kill her.

For the next years, she tries to frame her for murder to have her thrown in Azkaban so her line dies

And may or may not succeed when they turn 30, after yet another fight in the woods that lead to Chateau Dubois, where they find Lucille’s dead corpse, full of inhumane scars and dark magic

Any turkey that is superior loves it stuck in its posterior but appearance not withstanding I am no bird. I've tramped, I've "camped”. Eheh. I've introduced a different brand. Of the grrrrrreat divide all on my side, means more to me now than just a crack in the land. "... Where the deer and the antelope," can take it. Halloween ist ein traditionell irisches Fest Halloween steht vor der Tür - aber wusstest Du, dass wir Irland die beliebtesten Bräuche und Traditionen zu dieser unheimlichen Zeit des Jahres zu verdanken haben? Die irrlichternenden Fratzen ausgehöhlter Kürbisse kündigen dieses besondere Fest schon an, in der Nacht geistern dann leichenblasse Schauergestalten: blutrünstige Vampire, Voll-, Halb- und Untote neben warzennasigen Hexenweibern. Seinen Ursprung hat Halloween in den Nebeln von Irlands historischem Osten und im keltischen Samhain-Fest, einem großen Fest mit Feuer und Festmahl. Samhain ist nach dem altkeltischen Kalender mit Neujahr gleichzusetzen; ebenso steht es für das Ende des Lebens und den Eintritt in das Reich der Toten, die mit diesem Fest geehrt wurden. In dieser Zeit des Übergangs glaubten die Kelten an eine Wechselwirkung zwischen der Welt der Lebenden und der Welt der Toten und daran, dass Geister zwischen ihnen hin- und herwandern können. Aus Angst, dass alle möglichen Wesen sie vor ihrer Zeit in die andere Welt ziehen könnten, verkleideten sich die Kelten, um die umherziehenden Geister, Feen, Kobolde und Dämonen zu verwirren und zu verscheuchen. Sie sangen Lieder oder sprachen Gebete für die Seelen der Verstorbenen und erhielten im Gegenzug Lebensmittel, in der Regel einen Seelenkuchen, ein Fladenbrot mit Früchten. Diese Tradition war als "Souling" bekannt. Dieser Brauch, sich zu verkleiden und Hausbesuche zu machen, um kleine Geschenke in Form von Süßigkeiten, Früchten und Geld zu erbitten, ist in Irland und in vielen anderen Ländern der Welt unter der Bezeichnung "Trick or Treat" (Süßes oder Saures) noch heute lebendig und verbreitet. Im frühen Mittelalter verstanden die missionarischen Kirchenväter Samhain als ein heidnisches Totenfest. Sie besetzten es mit Allerheiligen und Allerseelen, den katholischen Totengedenktagen. Am "Abend vor Allerheiligen" ist "All Hallows' Eve" - daraus wurde im Laufe der Jahrezehnte: "Halloween". Sein originäres Brauchtum war ursprünglich nur im katholischen Irland verbreitet, kam nach Amerika und ging von dort kommerzialisiert um die Welt. Dabei wandelte sich das Fest von einem Volks- zum Familienfest, das auf lustig-makabre Weise gefeiert wird. Der moderne Brauch, sich an Halloween zu verkleiden, ist fest mit den alten vorchristlichen keltischen Bräuchen verwurzelt, ebenso wie die Tradition des Anzündens von großen zeremoniellen Samhain-Feuern, die ihren Ursprung auf den Hügeln Irlands hatten, wo sich Clans und Gemeinschaften versammelten. Eines der größten keltischen Feuerfeste fand auf dem Gipfel von Tlachtga oder dem Hill of Ward in der heutigen Grafschaft Meath statt. Jüngste archäologische Ausgrabungen deuten darauf hin, dass der Hügel schon vor über 2.000 Jahren für Feste und Feiern genutzt wurde. Und aus alten Handschriften geht hervor, dass die Kelten hier ein Feuer entzündeten, von dem aus alle Feuer in Irland neu entfacht wurden. Beleuchtete Kürbisse mit schaurigen Gesichtern sind ein weiterer beliebter Aspekt von Halloween. Der Brauch, Kürbisse zu schnitzen, begann in Irland, wo Rüben und große Kartoffeln kunstvoll geschnitzt wurden. Der Name der Halloween-Dekoration stammt aus einer irischen Volkserzählung über einen Mann namens Stingy Jack, der dem Teufel einen Streich spielte. Zur Strafe verdammte der Teufel Jack dazu, bis in alle Ewigkeit mit einer brennenden Glut aus den ewigen Feuern der Hölle in einer Rübe umherzuwandern, um seinen Weg zu erleuchten. Irische Einwanderer brachten die Tradition schließlich nach Amerika, der Heimat des Kürbisses, und der Winterkürbis ist heute ein fester Bestandteil der Halloween-Feierlichkeiten. Ein weiteres Relikt aus der keltischen Ära sind auch spezielle Speisen wie "barm brack", ein süßer Hefekuchen mit Gewürzen und getrockneten Früchten verfeinert. Er wird überall in Irland in den Bäckereien und Supermärkten angeboten. Wer darin einen Ring findet und gerade einen neuen Partner sucht, wird sich "mit Sicherheit" verlieben, und eine bestehende Partnerschaft bekommt neuen Schwung. Wer eine Münze findet, hat für die kommenden zwölf Monate keine Geldsorgen. Es gibt also zahlreiche Mythen und Überlieferungen rund um Halloween - viele Iren glauben auch heute noch an die Zeit der Geister und Unholde und befolgen die alten Rituale der Kelten. Und wenn sich die grüne Insel in der dunklen Jahreszeit durch gelbe und rötlich gefärbte Blätter langsam verändert und der von den Seen aufziehende Morgennebel die Umrisse verschleiert, erscheint Irland in einem ganz besonderen Licht. In diesen Tagen sind uns auch die alten Traditionen plötzlich ganz nah. Die grüne Insel ist ein bei den Deutschen beliebtes Reiseziel, allein im Jahr 2019 kamen mehr als 730.000 Besucher nach Irland. Hoch im Kurs stehen bei allen Reisenden die beeindruckenden Naturkulissen, die historischen Schätze und natürlich die vielfach gepriesene Freundlichkeit der Menschen. Wer sich derzeit mit der Urlaubsplanung beschäftigt, sollte die grüne Insel unbedingt in der Auswahl haben: Denn der Golfstrom sorgt ganzjährig für ein gleichbleibend gemäßigtes Klima. Irland ist einfach zu erreichen; die meisten Flüge gehen von mehreren deutschen Städten direkt nach Dublin. Pünktlich zum Herbst gibt es auch wieder eine alternative Flugroute mehr auf die grüne Insel. Ryanair hat die Verbindung von Frankfurt/Hahn nach Kerry wieder aufgenommen. Ab Ende Oktober geht es in nur zwei Stunden direkt in den Südwesten Irlands. Spukendes Edinburgh, Schottland Wer die Royal Mile entlang spaziert, ist vollkommen ahnungslos, dass sich unterhalb ein Netz aus uralten Gassen ("Closes") erstreckt. Im Jahr 1644 wurde Edinburgh von der Pest besonders schwer heimgesucht, und man sagt, dass die Seelen der Pestopfer noch immer dort umhergeistern. Nun können Sie sich von einer Figur aus Edinburghs Vergangenheit durch Mary King's Close führen lassen, die Sie mit Erzählungen aus der Vergangenheit und 300 Jahre alten Schauergeschichten erschreckt. Normalerweise wird das Erschrecken mit negativen Erfahrungen in Verbindung gebracht, doch Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass auch das Gegenteil der Fall sein kann.

Angsthasen weichen besser auf die zu den Dubai Parks and Resorts gehörenden Bollywood Parks oder ins Legoland aus. Das schaurige Erlebnis in Motiongate Dubai beginnt mit dem Durchdringen eines unheimlichen Labyrinths, das von einer furchterregenden Gestalt aus der Vergangenheit heimgesucht wird. Binnen sechs Minuten müssen die Gäste den Ausgang finden, um bei weiteren Abenteuern erneut in Schockstarre oder Kreischen zu verfallen. [ad_1] SINGAPORE - A huge money laundering case has riveted attention in Singapore.In a series of raids across the city-state in mid-August, authorities seized close to three quarters of a billion U.S. dollars in assets including more than 100 luxury condos and dozens of flashy cars. It's one of the city-state's largest ever money laundering cases.Hundreds of bags were seized, some worth up to $100,000 from the likes of Hermes, Chanel and Prada, plus Patek Philippe watches and jewelry. Police images of the wines seized resemble the cellar of a French chateau.The Singapore Police Force said the ill-gotten gains were obtained from organized crime committed overseas, including scams and online gambling, with the proceeds then brought into Singapore and filtered through the country's financial institutions.Ten people were arrested in the raids on Aug. 15, with 12 others currently 'assisting authorities' with their ongoing investigation. Eight more individuals are still wanted by police.Those arrested appeared to be an international group - Cypriot, Turkish, Cambodian and from the small Pacific archipelago Vanuatu. But all the men also had Chinese passports.Local media have since reported that the men all originate from the same part of China - Fujian province. It's a mountainous region on the country's southeast coast, affluent and once the hub of the Chinese tea industry.'There has been a significant uptick in operations against money laundering groups recently involving China in cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, and no doubt more are coming', said Jeremy Douglas, the U.N.'s Office on Drugs and Crime representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Seized luxury vehicles (Public Affairs Department, Singapore Police Force)It's unclear how the funds got into Singapore and how they were undetected for so long. Some local media reported members of the group have been living in Singapore for up to six years. Bloomberg reported the Singaporean arm of Citigroup was used by some of the men for banking as far back as 2020.Singapore's Monetary Authority says it was banks that alerted them to the suspicious activities of these men, tipped off by suspicious fund flows and dubious documents about the money's origin.Kelvin Law is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He says Singapore's reputation as a global financial hub could attract criminals to move their illicit funds to the city-state.'Singapore has an extremely high volume of high-value cross-border transactions every day. It is easier to hide money laundering transfers in a country with this feature because it is hard to spot the odd ones out,' he said.Once funds are in Singapore's banking system, Law says they can then be easily moved around.There are now questions about whether such a high-profile money laundering case will impact Singapore's global reputation. Strong surveillance, a vast police network and a punitive justice system have given Singapore the reputation of being one of the safest countries in the world.'I think they want to show the world that they're really serious about this without hurting the city's place as the financial hub of the region,' said Zachary Abuza, a professor covering Southeast Asian politics at the National War College in Washington.'This is a country where the rule of law and their kind of squeaky cleanliness is one of their key selling points,' Abuza said. When there is a lot of capital flowing, money launderers will naturally try to mask their fund flows through the same channels,' said Stefanie Theo, managing partner at TSMP Law Corporation.Singapore's Police Force was strong in its defence of the country's financial integrity. 'We have zero tolerance for the use of Singapore as a safe haven for criminals or their families, nor for the abuse of our banking facilities,' SPF's Director of Commercial Affairs David Chew said in a statement.'Our message to these criminals is simple - if we catch you, we will arrest you. If we find your ill-gotten gains, we will seize them.
